Avoid! This is the portions they gave us for regular chips! The boxes weren’t filled. It’s an extra £1.80 for cheese and that’s all you get, this is what it was like when I brought them home, a 5 minute drive away! They were cold and stale, the cheese didn’t melt whilst it was in the box. What a huge disappointment 🫠 In total it was £11.25 for 1 regular chips, 1 regular cheese & chips 2 buns and 1 curry sauce!!

food was tasty not greasy, but was barely warm .Didn't expect to put it in the microwave.

Ordered on Friday evening from just eat, they delivered it to someone else so obviously didn’t ask for the confirmation code. Contacted the shop who were disinterested and said ‘oh yeah that’s happened quite a few times’, no apology, no replacement food offered unless I collected and paid again which defeats the whole object of having the food delivered. Very sad children who had cereal instead. Very poor customer service.

Very slow service once large cod cooked staff disappeared no service

Delivery time was changed, I ordered it at 18.39 and was delivered at 19.28, my granddaughter is staying and wanted cheesy chips! and so did I she was starving by the time they arrived, to find a note saying ran out of cheese! so two portions of not great chips! £12.00 never again 😔 ordered two deep fried Oreos (again her choice) so 18.99 all together seriously disappointed!

Fish was dry chewy and small. Chips where ok. Most of it went directly to the bin. Only visited as Friar Tucks was closed. I will not be going there again. I have no idea how they could have won an award, unless it was for worst chippy in the South West. (this is the 1st bad review I have ever left. 39 years old.

We have been regular customers over several years. We have never had reason to complain about anything and they are one of the best F&C shops in Exeter.

This was always our place to go for Fish and chips. Went tonight 3rd Aug and have to say food was not good. Fish very dry and chewy to eat, gave half of it to the dog! Chips not much better either. Such a shame that this has gone down hill.

Staff rude, slow and disinterested, food was horribly salty, fish batter was soggy and not cooked properly.

Very dissapointing to see such decline. Had not been for several months, need a huge improvement on customer service, 30 mins wait to watch and listen to unproffesional and immmature staff. Finished product was so salted and lacking crispiness was far from a good experience. Not likely to visit again unless there's a change of management

I have been to this fish and chip shop on a number of occasions and always found it very good, but last night was a different case. Service was not good, young lady (blond curly hair) got orders wrong even missed orders. But the food was dreadful, fish batter was oily and soggy with no crunch and tasted of really cheap contents, the chips were even worse, undercooked and running with oil. Not a good show for a once award winning fish and chip shop. Best way to show my disappointment is not to go there again.

Great food and the staff were very cheery which is always good to see in a work place and the food was delicious

The fish and chips were actually a lot better this evening than they have been for a while. However, I still can’t understand why the saveloys always look like they have been in a fight and lost all their skin! Even when you specifically ask for a saveloy with skin on!! If we lived nearer I would have taken it back!

Food was so good first time ordering from here because the usual place I order from has been disappointing. Everything we had was good and really quick. Will definitely use again as this is our favourite.

£41 spent here on just eat and Things missing from order and kids portions!!! You get more for your money at McDonald's!! Fish is not a regular and very small and also chewy which indicates frozen fish. Avoid this place and spend your money on somewhere more upmarket like KFC or McDonald's. At least at McDonald's your Filet-o-fish will ten times more likely be fresher than the garbage these guys sell!! You will definitely get more chips from there. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Vile, never again and reported to trading standards.

Good food, friendly service. Parking outside a pain, often easier to park elsewhere & walk a couple of minutes. Often a bit of a wait where it's popular, and not the cheapest around, but it's worth it and the portions are good. Super jumbo sausage in batter to be recommended!

Really poor, chips cold and looked anaemic - not in the fryer for anything like long enough!

The cheesy chips were pointless. There was next to no cheese on the chips. I have photo evidence. I did ask for food at 7pm. It didn't arrive until 7.20

This is are go to Chippy, for fish bites chips and curry. Unfortunately the curry sauce has gone down hill . It’s no longer a sauce thick lumpy and tastes and texture of curry powder that’s not been absorbed. We did complain on our next visit but to be honest fell on deaf ears, with no offer of a free replacement. Felt disappointed ☹️ by the response from the young lady. Otherwise we always enjoy!

Friendly staff. Portion size was good. But the batter on the fish wasn't quite cooked. It was still wet and soggy on one side. Shame as what I did uave of the fish was really nice. The batter was light and crispy.

fish was hot but the chips were freezing and they didn't put my drink in again!

Was delivered to wrong street, someone rang saying they had it delivered to their house would I come get it, I did but my number wasn't on the receipt so how did he get my number?? There was another delivery at the bottom of that street just left on doorstep.

Sorry but the fish was just batter and the chips were half shratnell. So won't be going back. Used to be better. Gutted.

Chips cold and started to go hard. Also had things missing from the order. Tried to call but constantly engaged or didn’t answer the phone.

Batter soggy & chips cold with lots of bits rather then whole chips. - The first mouthful had a hair on it...be a good idea if all staff ware a hat not just those that feel like it. I'd personally rate this fish bar as the worst in Exeter . Standards in all areas require vast improvement. Naturally it's disappointing as this was once a good take away...

Been getting fish and Chips here for years and always found it exceptionally good. This evening 4/12/23 the large fish and chips I took home was less than satisfactory. This fish batter was very pale in colour and extremely soft and soggy. The chips also very limp and all stuck together. Got the impression it had all been kept in the hot cabinet for too long. I will think twice about returning.

Unfortunately the food was not very hot when we got home and only live 5 minute drive away.

Not much grease, chips were nice and fat you could taste the potatoes, not like some chips these days just crisps with no potatoes , fish was fat too, flaky white chunks and the batter was thinly spread, Kudos to the restaurant 👏

Just finished my fish and chips very good but not very have with the cup of curry like dish water not as thick as it used to be just water with bits in it rubbish, need to bring the curry maker back

The chips were just shells just crispy outter skin ordered 2 kids meals and both were the same neither child ate their food and I wouldn't have either. It's a shame because the odd decent chip was really nice

Great food as always but server tonight was incredibly rude, mumbling about customers and announcing to waiting customers that they only get paid £7per hour so we need to learn to be kinder even though no one had been rude. Not professional at all and an embarrassment to the business. Hope we have a better experience if we visit again.

Forgot curry sauce an drinks. Was late. Sausage under cooked. Tried calling as soon as arrive phone constantly busy no answer when calling straight away for 20 minutes. This used to be a good chip shop has got worse

Really over priced, £33 for two regular fish and chips, curry sauce, peas and gravy. Fish and chips was really small and batter wasn’t crispy at all, the taste wasn’t bad but overall experience wasn’t good.

Visited today for Gluten free chips to be told they haven’t offered them for a “couple of years now” despite the (knackered looking) 3 foot high sign out side saying “we serve Gluten Free fish & chips every Monday”. Disappointed and a bit puzzled.

Sadly - not too good. The person serving was keen but - I asked for 3 cod n chips and when we unpacked it on arrival at home - had 2 cod and bizarrely 1 portion of scampi?? Chips were on the “cool” side and dry. Reckon they had been sat in the pass for too long. Shame - we were really looking forward to it!! Shan’t go there again.

I can't comment on the service or atmosphere as I was waiting in the car outside. However, the fish was fresh and so delicious, will happily get takeaway/click and collect if passing through again in the future.

The food here used to taste amazing but the way it’s cooked has changed in the last few months and it just doesn’t taste the same. The chips are more greasy.

I ordered jumbo battered sausage and chips twice as my autistic children love jumbo sausages. Both portions arrived with 2x small battered which caused mega meltdowns. Also ordered plain jumbo and chips as I am gluten free and it was a jumbo battered sausage and chips, so I could not eat my food either ! Was not even a free can of drink with an apology
