£41 spent here on just eat and Things missing from order and kids portions!!! You get more for your money at McDonald's!! Fish is not a regular and very small and also chewy which indicates frozen fish. Avoid this place and spend your money on somewhere more upmarket like KFC or McDonald's. At least at McDonald's your Filet-o-fish will ten times more likely be fresher than the garbage these guys sell!! You will definitely get more chips from there. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Vile, never again and reported to trading standards.

Good food, friendly service. Parking outside a pain, often easier to park elsewhere & walk a couple of minutes. Often a bit of a wait where it's popular, and not the cheapest around, but it's worth it and the portions are good. Super jumbo sausage in batter to be recommended!

This is are go to Chippy, for fish bites chips and curry. Unfortunately the curry sauce has gone down hill . It’s no longer a sauce thick lumpy and tastes and texture of curry powder that’s not been absorbed. We did complain on our next visit but to be honest fell on deaf ears, with no offer of a free replacement. Felt disappointed ☹️ by the response from the young lady. Otherwise we always enjoy!

Friendly staff. Portion size was good. But the batter on the fish wasn't quite cooked. It was still wet and soggy on one side. Shame as what I did uave of the fish was really nice. The batter was light and crispy.

Sorry but the fish was just batter and the chips were half shratnell. So won't be going back. Used to be better. Gutted.

One of the best fish n chips I have ever tried! Fish was so soft it melted in my mouth! Would definitely recommend.

Batter soggy & chips cold with lots of bits rather then whole chips. - The first mouthful had a hair on it...be a good idea if all staff ware a hat not just those that feel like it. I'd personally rate this fish bar as the worst in Exeter . Standards in all areas require vast improvement. Naturally it's disappointing as this was once a good take away...

Food is a bit expensive but overall,the food is great.

Been getting fish and Chips here for years and always found it exceptionally good. This evening 4/12/23 the large fish and chips I took home was less than satisfactory. This fish batter was very pale in colour and extremely soft and soggy. The chips also very limp and all stuck together. Got the impression it had all been kept in the hot cabinet for too long. I will think twice about returning.

Just finished my fish and chips very good but not very have with the cup of curry like dish water not as thick as it used to be just water with bits in it rubbish, need to bring the curry maker back

Great food as always but server tonight was incredibly rude, mumbling about customers and announcing to waiting customers that they only get paid £7per hour so we need to learn to be kinder even though no one had been rude. Not professional at all and an embarrassment to the business. Hope we have a better experience if we visit again.

Visited today for Gluten free chips to be told they haven’t offered them for a “couple of years now” despite the (knackered looking) 3 foot high sign out side saying “we serve Gluten Free fish & chips every Monday”. Disappointed and a bit puzzled.

Sadly - not too good. The person serving was keen but - I asked for 3 cod n chips and when we unpacked it on arrival at home - had 2 cod and bizarrely 1 portion of scampi?? Chips were on the “cool” side and dry. Reckon they had been sat in the pass for too long. Shame - we were really looking forward to it!! Shan’t go there again.

I can't comment on the service or atmosphere as I was waiting in the car outside. However, the fish was fresh and so delicious, will happily get takeaway/click and collect if passing through again in the future.

The food here used to taste amazing but the way it’s cooked has changed in the last few months and it just doesn’t taste the same. The chips are more greasy.

Just had a take away from there for four of us and it was really poor. Have eaten from there before but as my local chip shop was closed we had no choice rather than go here which is a fair bit dearer. The chips were of a sort of tough consistency like they had been sitting for a while and tasted of the fat they were cooked in, cod was nice and of a decent size. As I said have eaten here before but not for a couple of years. Disappointing.

Given me the worst food poisoning of my life. Won’t go again.

Buy from this fish and chip shop quite regularly, normally in the evening. Recently bought in a lunch time but will not be doing so again for a while. Chips were only warm and fish was not usual standard and batter was soggy. Very disappointed.

Ordered a family meal through deliveroo and when it arrived it was cold and missing my meal!!! I tried ringing the shop 50 times but no answer… I have had to have toast for my tea the customer service is shocking to say the least. The food that arrived was cold and the fish was under cooked. I hope I get a refund for the food that didn’t arrive. Getting a takeaway is supposed to be hassle free…. This is anything but. Will not be ordering from here again

Only thing, but I know why they do it - less wastage, last night was that everything was cooked to order. For me to remember - in future ring ahead!

Awful service I ordered 2 portions of chips and waited 25 minutes for my order whilst they prioritised external orders who weren’t even there to pick up their order and waited for fish to fry and burgers to cook in the meantime. The man behind the counter just watched the girls work and yelled at them in front of customers it was a very unpleasant experience! Would not return.

Absolutely flawless experience. Staff were top notch and the food was even better. Cant wait to go back next time I’m in the Exeter area.

My friend's and I came here from recommendation. Between us we had various choices from the menu, and it did not dissapoint. Every thing was cooked to perfection and exactly what you would want from a fish and chip shop, along with friendly staff and very reasonable prices made the whole experience 5 star. I look forward to returning in the future.

Normally I would've given it 5 stars but unfortunately I found 2 light/gray hairs in my food. In case anyone asks the family are all dark haired!

Ok, as a local chippy goes, the food is good. The only letdown is the service is so patchy. Good some nights, awful the next. But then I return when I feel like fish and chips, which makes up for patchy service.

Not for us, small portions.. over priced.. Can see the 2 in whipton being more popular unless, things change.

Terrible customer service! Just gone in to do a big order and the bald short man got his knickers in a twist and told the counter girl not to serve us or anyone else! Pretty sure when u r open u are meant to be serving customers and as a business owner myself I am flabbergasted! Disgraceful, felt so sorry for the young lady behind the counter who was trying her best only to be let down by the ‘fryers’, waited ageas to find out they didn’t have the chicken to fill the order, and then to also find out they had forgotten to put in the chicken nuggets - when received they were solid as rocks! The batter on the fish was soggy and not much meat on the once bit of chicken received.

Good but not great food. Usually a long wait and occasionally forgets to give soft drinks that have already been paid for.

Terrible battered sausage & chips, sprayed on soggy batter - could see the sausage through it and a lot of the chips were crunchy bits. We can't afford to have a treat that often and this wasn't one, absolute waste of money at £8.05.

As always, the fish and chips at Polsloe Bridge was fantastic and the service is always swift and friendly, even at peak times.

Bought few different fish , cod ,plaice, and none were tasty ,I had to bin the plaice due to odd taste . Thick crust, not well cooked.

The customer service from the two young girls was shocking. Moody as ever. No please and thankyou. I let them keep the change and still no thankyou. one of them was slouched over the counter and the young girl serving me didn’t even say a word! Shocking. Get em sacked

Large cod was pale soggy the standard cod came in two small parts and the chips where like they had been fried a second time stale and hard this used to be a good chippy it’s absolutely junk now I thought I’d give them another go what a wast of money my cod was that soggy I couldn’t separate it from the chips it was a mound of mush they will never see my money again save your cash go elsewhere

Absolutely fantastic I drive 30 minutes to get there fish and chips even though we have lots of places in our town.. it's always busy and you can see why.

Ordered food in the shop got serviced by a young girl and my chips and cheese was awful and my chicken bites was over cooked not happy at all, and for the young girl who serviced me to talk to her boyfriend and hold hands together and then touch food isn’t good at all not worth the money, also phoned another member of staff and he couldn’t care about his customers at all just cares about his money

Food was horrible today my chicken bites was burnt and my chips had been done for to long in the heater I’ve tried to phone the shop and they just hang up on me I phoned another member of staff and told he doesn’t care about his customers and there food so I would not recommend going here at all not worth the money at all and also a staff member playing with her boyfriend while customer there isn’t good service either

They used to do Gluten Free Mondays which were great and very popular (and still advertised) but that has not been available for about 18 months now. When I last asked when GF would be available again I was then told it wasn't popular enough! Such a shame, I previously rated this place 5 stars between 6 to 3 years ago but slowly gone downhill

What a Find…. Been living in Exeter for 12 months and stumbled across this Gem. Absolutely cracking fish and chips! Pea fritters huge .. excellent portion size ! Got to be some of the best chips I’ve tasted ever and lived all over the country.. 10/10 for Us !!

Lovely fish and chips though parking is terrible and you will be waiting a while on a busy night as they are popular....but in many ways that's just goes to show you how tasty they are

Awful experience tonight. Waited 45 minutes for 3 large portions of sausage and chips (and there were enough to do straight away on the hot counter). Service was very very very slow! And they girl serving was clueless!!! There was only one person walk in in front of me when I arrived. Curry sauce was warmed in a microwave on the counter and I was given battered sausage when I asked for plain. Portion size was tiny a total rip off. We will not be returning here.

Love this fish and chip shop! Order from here when ever we have fish and chips. Did a massive online order for 15 people recently as they offer a click and collect service. Everything was there, nothing missed off, all of it was fresh and kept lovely and warm. Would highly recommend this place.

Very VERY slow service. Took over 30mins to take and fill a very basic order (cod, chicken, sausage & 2 large chips) while stood in a very crowded shop. Food was adequate but certainly not amazing.

Excellent chips and sausagein batter. Curry sauve was delicious as are their spring rolls (larger than most chip shops). The staff were polite, speedy and on the ball and came . We won't go to any other fish and chip shop in the area as these are by far the best!

Ordered a large portion of chips. There was one lady in front of me who was waiting for her order. Staff were very friendly and very efficient. The woman who served me scooped my chips up straight away. The chips were lovely as well, not too greasy and a good amount of crisp on the outside whist still remaining fluffy on the inside.

We have had F&C from here a couple of times, and food itself is pretty good; but we received a regular cod yesterday that was basically a chunky fish finger. And a large chips that was really…not. Quality is OK, but value for money declining :(

So disappointed with the service, please make sure you serve customers in the correct order and keep the food in the heater until it is all ready. When my order was ready apart from one item that they gave to a customer who ordered 10 mins after me, I had to wait for another 10 minutes for more food to be cooked so they left the rest of my order in the bag on the side, to get cold. Sorry but this is definitely not good customer service.But the food when hot is the best in Exeter.

Well worth a visit Well changed my mind not going back When you have 6 members of staff behind the counter and they still cant get the food right i feel let down as we really loved this place such a shame Picture below is ment to be a large (such a joke)

Thr last two times I have eaten there its not been great. I dont understand the "award winning" hype. The last time I went I asked for curry sauce and realised that I'd been given mushy peas once I got home (I wasn't bothered because I understand people make mistakes. However I was told that it was because they didn't have any Curry sauce, no refund on the mushy peas I hadn't ordered was offered. This time the mushy pea fritter was undercooked and squashed flat into the portion of chips as shown in the picture. We also paid for large chips and got regular

24th July 2021. Went to the chip shop around 8:30 in the evening when it was quiet with a couple of people queuing. Ordered two meals: chips & scampi and chips & fish bites. When it was ready, the assistant seemed to put only three packages in the carrier bag so I double-checked with him that he'd put everything in. He assured me he had. When I got home I discovered I was right and he hadn't put the fish bites in. By this time it was almost closing time so I phoned them. No one picked up so I left a recorded message with my number. They never called back. The food might be award winning, but the service ain't! No real channel for complaints, but there is if you want to give them rave reviews!

We ordered sausage in batter and chips, the sausages has no batter on the sausage much to talk about may as well just had a sausage as we had to pay for batter and nothing much on it very disappointed

Good hearty fish and chip meals with very nice curry sauce and good range of other alternative dishes.
