Nice, authentic , old style pub. We had beer and apple cider there and enjoyed it a lot! There was no music and we could enjoy our conversation fully.

I came here to have a drink and conversation in a pub with no TV, Muzak or mobile conversations, but the person behind the bar insisted on turning on a large and noisy fan immediately behind my head! When I asked her a second time to please turn it off, she made a point of leaving it on longer, and when I said she had ruined our evening, she replied 'Always a pleasure'. Is this Sam Smith's idea of service? P.S. A couple of weeks later, I wrote to Sam Smith's HQ (as the website invites one to do) and explained what had happened. That was 2 or 3 weeks ago and I still have not had a reply. It seems that contempt for their customers goes all the way to the top.

WOW, prices have gone up! £20 for two pints of lager and two crisps. I guess this is to be expected near Tottenham Court Road, but it was still a bit of a surprise, especially since Sam Smith pubs used to be the more affordable choice. Other than the price, it’s a nice pub. Great for catching up with friends. It’s quiet enough, with no music or rowdy punters, so you can actually hear each other, while still maintaining a pleasant atmosphere. The bar staff were friendly and efficient. Despite the price increase, I would still recommend it if you're looking for a central pub to meet friends.

The blonde haired barman her is the rudest person over ever encountered in my life. was completely rude a group of 6 of us entered the pub and was greeted by the rudest manger I have ever experienced in London. I love this pub. It's got about 5 different entrance doors on the first floor that lead to separate partitions. And I really like this! It keeps each space small and intimate. There are also little rooms upstairs that kind of feel like small living rooms. My friends and I usually sit in one of those. There's also a decent bit of outdoor seating! They are dog-friendly (indoors and outdoors). I've tried some of the appetizers / bar snacks (hummus, sausages, chips) and they were all delicious. I haven't tried any mains yet. Service behind the bar is great. The bartenders all know their stuff and are always friendly and helpful. Gabe is lots of fun!

I'm a big fan of Sam Smith pubs, in particular those in central London. The Angel on St Giles street is a bit unassuming although it has an attractive modern signage and exterior design. With a beautiful real wood fire and multiple rooms across two levels it feels very cosy and comfortable. Atmospheres are good, with some English people on the know and some tourists seeking it out on a trip back to the big smoke. Rules are no phones or laptops. I love this as it gets the good conversations going! That being said, they don't really enforce it but probably would if you're taking a lot of calls. Look at these two photos. That's 5 stars right there, you don't even need to read all of this tosh I'm typing.

Worst service I have had in a London pub as far as I can remember and poor food. For starters they did not want to clean a table for us to seat on and wanted us to sit on one for two people, us being five. After ordering they completely forgot our drinks and we had to ask several times. Worst bit... The place wasn't even busy. Food arrives... Among everything else, I had ordered a dish for my kids to share and they refuse to give me an extra empty plate to split the food "because they are upstairs" Pie not great and burger is burnt. The place also feels cold. Very little could actually go worse.

Absolutely abysmal. Went in for a couple of beers with a friend before going to a show. Now if you regularly frequent a Sam Smith's pub, you will be aware that they do not serve full pints, something I believe is their policy, however if you ask them to top it up they are obliged to do so. I did this for both my friend & my pints as they were somewhat short. I then mentioned this to another customer at the bar beside us. Next thing a lady working behind the bar (possibly the manager?) came over & rudely told me to keep myself to myself. I questioned what she meant but she refused to speak to me. A short while later we tried to order another drink, but the said lady refused to serve us & told us we had to leave. When we asked why she said she didn't need to give us a reason, nor to speak to us. I urge anyone reading this to either A) give this pub a wide berth, or B) Insist they give you a full pint, as it seems this isn't common knowledge & I believe what got us basically thrown out...I would honestly give this 0 stars if it was an option.

One of those old fashioned pubs where there are separate entrances to the public bar, saloon and snug. There is a small beer garden out back, too. The interiors have a lot of the original features and moldings. Food is pretty standard pub fare. The drinks are all made by the pub chain, Samuel Smiths: even the cola! Which is fine, because their beers are pretty good. The Extra Stout and Organic Wheat beers are the best. Staff are friendly. We even got a Halloween sweety when we were waiting for our food.

Stayed in a superior room for one night. Nice hotel in a great location just a few minutes walk from the tube. Not a huge amount in the way of facilities, just small reception area. However I feel the price reflects this which is reasonable and what was on offer was good, with fresh, filtered water and as much tea/coffee as you like to take from an area in reception. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Many others have expressed concerns regarding the size, so we booked a superior room and whilst it was certainly not big per se, it was a comfortable size and would have been happy with it for multiple nights. It was also lovely and quiet and we were the only room on the floor! Unfortunately, a few small details like the curtains not meeting letting outside light in, and the bedside reading lights not working mean we can't give it 5 stars. Staff were friendly and welcoming and service was great - even when asking for some cold filtered water for drinking it was brought up to our room. Overall we were happy with our experience and would stay again if in that area of London.

This should be regarded as a destination deli. We were on holiday in East London & sought it out. It has every imaginable cooking ingredient, plus amazing fresh produce & freshly baked / cooked take-away treats. Large selection of Greek & Italian cheeses plus Labneh & other dairy goods. There's a huge central fresh olive bar. A back wall of every conceivable spice. A counter selling Jamaican patties, empanadas & Lebanese kibbeh etc. Really wanted to buy some but didn't have enough luggage capacity to carry it all home on the train. They had prepared salads, kebabs & sell hot rotisserie chickens. Huge side wall of pasta & rice varieties plus a middle aisle of pickles, oils & vinegars. A counter of sweet fresh baklava & other treats & then several varieties of Turkish delight & halva. We're very pleased that they offer mail order - we will be using that service now that we're back home.
