Proper pub popped in for a drink after the theatre would definitely go back

It’s a Sam Smith’s. I absolutely adore a Sam Smith’s and this is by far the best I’ve been too. So welcoming, so genuine and utterly friendly. Highly recommended!

I've used this pub on-and-off for more that 30 years and there's always a warm, genuinely friendly welcome in my experience. Lots of different nooks and corners, great atmosphere. I only used their beer garden for the first time today and it's an excellent spot for a break from the noisy West End. Highly recommended.

The blonde haired barman her is the rudest person over ever encountered in my life. was completely rude a group of 6 of us entered the pub and was greeted by the rudest manger I have ever experienced in London. Rudely told us they didn’t have the drink we asked for and the atmosphere changed like we wasn’t welcomed. She proceeded to leave the bar after we left due to her rudeness and confront us in the street at 9pm at night don’t go here

Used to come here in the late 80s and it hasn't changed a bit. Lovely old genuine English pub with traditional dark wood interior and a small beer garden in the back. Looks like it hasn't changed since the late 19th century and is all the better for it.

This Sam Smiths pubs is in the centre but still manages to feel like an oasis of calm.

Bitter tasted watered down to me. 1 pint and a soft drink £10. Not impressed

I love this pub. It's got about 5 different entrance doors on the first floor that lead to separate partitions. And I really like this! It keeps each space small and intimate. There are also little rooms upstairs that kind of feel like small living rooms. My friends and I usually sit in one of those. There's also a decent bit of outdoor seating! They are dog-friendly (indoors and outdoors). I've tried some of the appetizers / bar snacks (hummus, sausages, chips) and they were all delicious. I haven't tried any mains yet. Service behind the bar is great. The bartenders all know their stuff and are always friendly and helpful. Gabe is lots of fun!

A lovely, traditional pub tucked away in St Giles High Street near Shaftesbury avenue. Excellent atmosphere. We only had drinks but managed to get stools and a place to perch on a sat afternoon. I've never tried the food but it does do this.

Horrible experience. Food was overcooked. There was a shortage in the kitchen an we waited 40 mins for food. Wouldn’t recommend until they fix food issues. Beer was served quickly

To me this is a pretty nice place to chill and grab a pint.

An excellent old fashioned pub in central London. Sam Smith's beers. The bit I sat in was digital free - no phones, laptops or tablets. Fortunately I had an old fashioned hard copy book to read!

Good pub this despite it being a Sam Smith. Always fell sorry for the staff in these pubs because the brewery are awful.

A nice and quiet pub near Tottenham Court Road. It's a bit pricey for what it offers though.

I'm a big fan of Sam Smith pubs, in particular those in central London. The Angel on St Giles street is a bit unassuming although it has an attractive modern signage and exterior design. With a beautiful real wood fire and multiple rooms across two levels it feels very cosy and comfortable. Atmospheres are good, with some English people on the know and some tourists seeking it out on a trip back to the big smoke. Rules are no phones or laptops. I love this as it gets the good conversations going! That being said, they don't really enforce it but probably would if you're taking a lot of calls. Look at these two photos. That's 5 stars right there, you don't even need to read all of this tosh I'm typing.

Worst service I have had in a London pub as far as I can remember and poor food. For starters they did not want to clean a table for us to seat on and wanted us to sit on one for two people, us being five. After ordering they completely forgot our drinks and we had to ask several times. Worst bit... The place wasn't even busy. Food arrives... Among everything else, I had ordered a dish for my kids to share and they refuse to give me an extra empty plate to split the food "because they are upstairs" Pie not great and burger is burnt. The place also feels cold. Very little could actually go worse.

Such a lovely old London Pub right in the centre of the West End and Theatre-Land. It has a great atmosphere and very friendly bar staff….an antidote to those modern soul-less places that proliferate in London now…

Cosy little pub full of original features, was imagining people in the 50's meeting up with their sweet hearts for a lunchtime drink for some reason...

Absolutely abysmal. Went in for a couple of beers with a friend before going to a show. Now if you regularly frequent a Sam Smith's pub, you will be aware that they do not serve full pints, something I believe is their policy, however if you ask them to top it up they are obliged to do so. I did this for both my friend & my pints as they were somewhat short. I then mentioned this to another customer at the bar beside us. Next thing a lady working behind the bar (possibly the manager?) came over & rudely told me to keep myself to myself. I questioned what she meant but she refused to speak to me. A short while later we tried to order another drink, but the said lady refused to serve us & told us we had to leave. When we asked why she said she didn't need to give us a reason, nor to speak to us. I urge anyone reading this to either A) give this pub a wide berth, or B) Insist they give you a full pint, as it seems this isn't common knowledge & I believe what got us basically thrown out...I would honestly give this 0 stars if it was an option.

Quirky pub that is split into 3 totally separate rooms that are only accessible by leaving the room and walking outside to the next. This is a good feature if you are a small group and looking for intimacy, but challenging for larger groups. VERY nice staff.

One of those old fashioned pubs where there are separate entrances to the public bar, saloon and snug. There is a small beer garden out back, too. The interiors have a lot of the original features and moldings. Food is pretty standard pub fare. The drinks are all made by the pub chain, Samuel Smiths: even the cola! Which is fine, because their beers are pretty good. The Extra Stout and Organic Wheat beers are the best. Staff are friendly. We even got a Halloween sweety when we were waiting for our food.

A traditional and quaint pub. Food is very delicious and has a variety of different beers are on tap. It's small but it gives it a unique charm. It is the exact picture of how one would imagine a typical British pub to be. Highly recommended!

If you're into a quiet spot for a good talk or just to get out of the city's madness.

We bought a homeless person a drink and were then physically assaulted by the pub manager who shouted at us, pushed us, and threatened to call the police. They treat the less well off with contempt, avoid at all costs if you want a clear conscience.

I did not eat here. The staff are great. there's a nice covered area outside.

Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon, was looking for a quiet place to stop and have a drink, found this quant little pub that is a "Digital Detox" zone, was good to see people chatting instead of looking at screens, found it cozy and great, sat in the corridor outside and was a real gem. Would happily revisit when in London, maybe even try the food next time.

Lovely central London pub that stood out because of the amazing service from all the staff.

Abbiamo mangiato qui per cena. In media i piatti costano 12-15 sterline. Sono molto abbondanti e buonissimi! Peccato per il tavolo bassissimo e gli sgabelli molto alti non molto comodi. Scelta di birre molto vasta per le Lager/Bionde ma non tengono neanche una IPA o Pale Ale.

Really nice pub with lovely staff. Had a very tasty burger and chips and am also now addicted to lime chilli peanuts. Thanks for being so welcoming

I liked this place so much I came back too much. In all seriousness, this pub was so great. I loved the decor and the size. I felt like I was in the countryside instead of London as someone else had reviewed. The staff was friendly, the other patrons were as well.

Absolutely loved this cosy little place, totally forgot that I was in London while inside. The pub is beautifully decorated and split into three small sections which adds to the cosiness and authenticity of the place. The medieval history is very interesting and a bonus if you're interested in that sort of thing! The Samuel Smith's beers are great and most are vegan too. I tried the Taddy lager and a few of the bottles fruit beers (apricot, cherry and raspberry) all great! We visited on the day of the King's Coronation and still managed to find seats.

This is one of my most favourite pubs in the whole of London. I drink here(sometimes too much) quite often. I like the ambience and the beer. I only wish that i could live here. Maybe i will ask the next time i go.

What a lovely place ! Nestled in the middle of bustling west end a piece of yesteryear ,quiet calm friendly and the sam Smith bar towels( c photo) were strangely hypnotic the more you drank ,the peanuts weren't hypnotic at all so I only had one packet

Cute pub but the beer is way tooo expensive. It also gets extremely crowded since it’s a small space with few tables but they let everyone enter.

Friendly bartender who explained the history of the pubs being the last pint before criminals were hanged at St Giles back in the day. Very interesting. Favourite part of central London as it’s so quiet

Cosy little boozer in Central London. A nice, relaxed find amongst other pubs in the area.

This is little gem of a pub is hidden right in the middle of Central London a few minutes walk from Tottenham Court Road station. It was my first time there and I went with some colleagues for a Christmas gathering. I was impressed with the traditional and cosy decor inside. The food was surprisingly really good too. Price wise for central London it was not so expensive. We all had a good time and I think I would recommend the place if you want a nice and relaxed time with friends!

Racist establishment, went in with some friends and got turned away for no reason. Just refused to be served. Hope no one else has to experience this.

Classic Samuel Smiths pub right in the centre of town. Genuine period decor and very reasonably priced beer thanks to the Samuels Smiths pricing.

It's a Sam Smith's, so it has its quirks. But it also has a dart board, so there's that. And it has a little beer garden, which can be rare around here - even if you have to be out of there unreasonably early according to the sign (is this still true?) I hope you're not reading this on your phone while you're in there.

This was a great little pub we happened to find. Took a chance with their food based on bartender's recommendation. Fish and chips, bangers and mash, and cheeseburger. As Americans, the beef patty was different (which we knew it would be). However, the fish and chips and bangers and mash were excellent. Highly recommend stopping in this place. Have a conversation with the bartender... great guy, very personable, and aims to please!

What an absolutely Charming old Pub. This one is to put on your must visit list! Lots of different rooms all a blast from the past .Why do they modernise pubs when most are best left alone! This one has so much character . They serve an excellent Pint of Beer here and very Friendly Staff! The menu looked great, unfortunately for us we couldn't stay as we had a train to catch but so glad our Friend took us here , He visits everytime He comes to London and knows where to get the best Beers 🍻 Very impressed!

This is such a cozy little pub. I was walking around on the night before the Queen's funeral, may she rest in peace, and I thought I would not be able to find a place to eat since the streets packed. This pub was my salvation. It was not too buys and they had a secondary bar that was able to feed us food and drinks very quickly and at a great price. The the beer and ciders are specially brewed by the Angel owners and I could not have asked for a better pub experience.
