Visited in June 2024 with 2 friends The service was slow despite not being busy Ordered 2 lasagne which were plonked on a plate.And one meatballs and pasta Two plates sent back as the food was cold The 2 small meatballs were hard and sauce dry. Ordered 2 portion of chips only one appeared and I was told only one was ordered It eventually turned up The chips were meagre to say the least small portions served in small desert dishes and cost £5.25 each as extra £11.50 for chip was extortionate The 3mains were all £17 25 plus without the chips Meals were overpriced compared to other eateries on the Marina. Will not be returning.

We went here for a drink but were so impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff we stayed for food. The food was very tasty and there was plenty of it. The Anchor area outside is lovely overlooking the marina, a really sun trap. Thank you for a lovely few hours, we will return.

Oh dear Oh dear, Steer clear of this place ,I phoned asking did I need to book a table, was told a table would be reserved for me when we arrived it was empty, only the two of us in the restaurant, the waiter was very attentive, my wife ordered whitebait I ordered garlic mushrooms, the whitebait was ok but my garlic mushrooms were swimming in cream no taste of garlic ( time to leave) but we stayed my wife ordered Seafood Linguine, I ordered sirloin steak was told it would be ten minutes, it took them that long to RIP it of an old boot they must have had in the back ,I ordered medium to well done when it arrived it looked like it had been cooked in a chip pan ,was covered in oil the chip were soft and soggy the mixed veg looked like it had been frozen half a dozen times, the pepper sauce was as thin as dish water. This is a true and accurate review I'm a seventy nine year old gentleman and can honestly say that throughout all my travels this was the worst meal I've ever had John Coan widnes

staff are incredible, over 2 years never had any issues, like family, always smiling 10/10 amazing.

Went here as was supposed to be dog friendly, it was quiet in the restaurant and it was 6.30 so early evening. We were told we could only sit outside as we had our dog, it’s October so hardly nice enough to sit outside. Think it would be a good idea to specify it’s only dog friendly if you’re sitting outside.

First time to eat here, and being both vegetarian we went for the pizza 🍕 Lovely food and very friendly staff especially the owner with his baseball bat

We were looking for a bite to eat whilst watching the airshow and didn't want to drift to far from the event. This was a lovely spot and we sat outside where we could still see the show. We had two pizzas a chicken nuggets and chips and some drinks. Food was decent enough at a reasonable price. Staff were friendly and certainly not rude. Would definitely call here again.

Very Good food, on a very busy night, the owner did tell us to book beforehand. But due to family circumstances we couldn't . Some fish dishes weren't available but we had a lovely evening. Good service and food thanks for fitting us and 4 dogs in.

Have been to the anchor previously and was great. Went for Valentine’s Day and was very disappointing. Drinks order was messed up and waiter was very rude after seeing some food left on plates for starters. For main my wife had ‘cod, mussels and tiger prawns’ which was very disappointing, there were no mussels on the dish and the prawns were clearly tiny store bought ones cooked from frozen. Although he did take it off the bill when we raised this concern, he was extremely rude and never apologised

Called in with no booking , very accommodating and fitted us in We ordered two excellent fish dishes I had Penne in a tomato sauce with seafood , my husband had fish in a delicate cream sauce with prawns and muscles , served with chips Both dishes were delicious The waiter was lovely and the meal was good value , will definitely return

Food was ok if expensive, waiter was very rude making me feel like a bad parent for allowing my 3 year old to do colouring on her tablet while waiting for our food. This was to keep her from distracting other customers and the waiter told me I was destroying her creativity. I don't need parenting advice from a waiter who knows nothing about her lifestyle or background.

Service was good and food was nice but extremely expensive for what you get. £15.95 for 3 meatballs and pasta. Over £28 for a minute fillet steak! £4.95 for a single can of Thatchers Gold and just under £7.00 a glass of wine! Had tempura prawns as a starter, definitely not worth what they charge. I fully understand that everything has increased in price and that restaurants have overheads to pay but paying £4.95 for 1 can of cider when you can buy 10 cans of the same cider in the supermarket for £8.00! That’s called being greedy! The menus you can view on line are out dated menus with far cheaper prices. They need to update their menus and show the correct prices. Would definitely not visit again. Far better value for money and food at El Pescador

We were 45 minutes late for our reservation due to the traffic, but the staff were very accomidating and soon found us a table. The food was lovely and the atmosphere and the welcome was great. It really made our night and if we go to the arena again we'll definitely be calling back. Thanks again Evan

Went last night very friendly staff excellent service food was excellent and very well priced for the standard we received only down here for a week but will definitely go again before we leave

The staff are welcoming and friendly situated in a lovely setting looking out on to the marina especially on a sunny day however the food was disappointing. Ordered the chicken wrap advertised with choice of sauce and side salad which turned out to be literally cold chicken with lettuce and chilli sauce and the side salad was chopped iceberg lettuce with half a cherry tomato with a splash of balsamic vinegar which looked quite tragic. The wrap itself was bland and flavourless which added insult to the £7.95 price. Can’t comment on the other food but won’t be visiting again.

We didn't eat but had a couple of beers each whilst sat outside in the sun overlooking the marina - very pleasant indeed. People on TA complaining about the prices - I thought that they were okay for the location! £3.75 for a bottle of Moretti and £5 for a pint of draught lager... not bad for the view! The owner was actually quite entertaining too!

£5 for a bottle of beer. Ask for prices before you get served. Sandwich was ok but very basic. A miserable experience really.

We always try and have a drink in the Anchor, staff are very pleasant and friendly. The food is all home made, the Pint of Alonso Poretti is stunning.

We were relieved and pleased to see that this restaurant/ cafe was open for take away coffee and ice cream. Apparently the coffee was superb, for me the ice cream was delicious. Sal the owner was friendly and welcoming. The premises Covid secure. Highly recommended

Staff were welcoming and friendly. Food was not so good, the pizzas were burnt and tasteless, the toppings were rationed to a couple of slices of pepperoni. The food order came out at different times. Ice cream was nice.

What a lovely welcome by the owner. We had two lattes, a piece of carrot cake and a piece of chocolate cake. Both portions were a tidy size, topped off with squirty cream. A perfect reward after a lovely stroll around the marina.

This independent business has stayed open supporting the local community over the last few months. The take-away Sunday lunches (and other restaurant standard meals) were a godsend during this time, and now you are allowed to enjoy the fantastic food and drink sitting down outside....

We are locals and we’re in a family walk around the marina and down to the beach. I was not aware of this local independent trader. We had a Joe’s ice cream, and the kids were more than happy at the sizes of the portions....

As well as having lovely food you get a warm and friendly welcome at the Anchor. Nothing is too much trouble and menus can be adapted to suit needs, such as vegetarians. Can’t wait to eat there again!

I go to this place at least 2-3 times a week. The food is brilliant and the owner is a fantastic guy!!!
