Called in at 12noon on the way past, lovely pictures of boats on the walls, got chatting to the landlady and the locals, very friendly and welcoming, nice people, old traditional pub with a nice pint. Looking forward to going back, recommend it. Proper pub!

Went a couple of weeks ago for 3 or 4 drinks before our fish n chips from next door. Great service & the landlord treated our little Eddie border terrier like a king by pulling out treat after treat. Nice choice of ales & wines

This pub is NOT open the published hours! Check before you go, landlady wasn't very receptive to my suggestion of her checking external advertising!

Small quirky old fashioned pub in Mistely. Very limited drink selection. Has a dartboard though.

All pubs matter, except for this one. Unfriendly publican, makes people feel unwelcome. Apparently he's planning to make the locale into two houses anyhow, but still...awful service.

It is fairly difficult to leave a genuine terrible review as certain words and phrases do not beat the censor. This is a minus review, as many minuses as there are stars in the sky. This is a local pub for local people, not that the locals are unfriendly but the landlord makes a wicker man out of strangers on Sundays. I will attempt to use a type of cockney slang to beat the censors. The landlord threatened to bill me in no joking terms beacause i asked for change to play his Root McQueen which is about as unfriendly as you get without him playing dueling banjos from behind the bar. I am not the only commenter to notice his unfriendlyness but id warrant no one has had it more extreme. This man is a right James Hunt and and Eartha Kitt to boot. This pub opens at odd times probably because of slow trade probably due to the landlord in no small part, he seems to have lost the will a long time ago. Positive reviews here can only be from the most local of locals afraid of the landlord barring them from the only pub in Mistley, (i believe) though there are others not too far away or perhaps they arrived on a day when the landlord was regenerating. Luckily he is about 75 so with any luck there will be a vacancy soon....

If I could give 0 stars I would. I had my daughter’s birthday party here beginning of last month. The owner failed to mentioned I had to pay £10 a head as well as £80 for the room, bare in mind the food was pretty much chicken nuggets chips sandwiches and sweets, I had roughly 30 people there so that’s £300 for that? Then on their Facebook page it says £80 for room hire OR £10 a head and you get the room for free yet I was trying to get told I had to pay for both. I didn’t pay for the food told them to take it away and they decided to give it to the people out the front for free anyway I was absolutely livid at this point, the owner adds her own drinks to people’s bills and doesn’t tell them and the place is absolutely filthy there was still decorations up from whoever was there last time and had not been cleaned what so ever. I was given nothing but rudeness from the owner and I was just trying to enjoy my little ones 2nd birthday party, my family was fuming so someone said something about leaving a review and she pretty much threw my money at my face and told us all to leave even though I hadn’t done anything wrong and I had paid out £100 to hire out soft play for my daughter so I wasn’t going anywhere. We had to go out and get some food and snacks of our own as it was a children’s party and couldn’t see people or children go without and I wasn’t going to buying any drinks at the bar after the way I had been treated. They locked the fire exit door so we couldn’t go out that way which as soon as we realised we told them to open it as we was not having that, there’s a lot more I could write but I’m sure you get the drift. I will never go to this pub again and will be telling everyone I know about my experience.

Great cafe to go to for a full English breakfast in the morning while in clacton. Still the best cafe in clacton and go as far to say probably the best cafe in essex a real gem to find this cafe. Recommend the bubble and mushrooms with the cooked breakfast number 3

Had a lot of Pizza's in my time!! & know a decent Pizza when I taste one!! .... I had a Thin Crust 12" Meat Feast also with a Garlic Pizza. I had never given this place a go until today. To be honest, although the Pizza was okay , it tasted very bland! It did not have much flavor & needed much more taste in the product!! I thought the cheese, sauces, meatballs, were bland & pizza needed much more Tomato sauce for the the base than the chef added at prep, after watching the young man prepare the Pizza, I see that more care could of been taken in the prep!! The Garlic bread just tasted of toasted pizza base, only a bit of cheese was added to the base & I could not taste other than just a hint of garlic when I got home, but the bases for both the Pizza & Garlic bread were cooked great. Both of them just needed a bit more flavor. Again this is just my own (personal) opinion, I will say it was still worth what I payed for the meal.... So please don't let this review put people off from going there, the takeaway was very clean & tidy. Maybe I just went at the wrong time.

We have been using Pete's for a few months but w after being recommended. We love it. Huge portions, lovely friendly service. When there has been a minor issue like something. Forgotten, it is replaced on the next order. Fish feast is plenty for two people, curry sauce is good. There are not enough words to say how fab they are. Thank you all
