The Anchor Inn in South Staffordshire

Stopped here on our way home, impromptu stop off for lunch. Friendly welcome and we were offered a choice of tables to sit at. Table service and a good choice from the menu. Food was excellent and was served in good time. It was fresh and plentiful. Chicken pie, fish & chips and Gammon and eggs were all served with chips and veg.

Myself and partner enjoyed the valentines treat menu here this afternoon! It was a spontaneous trip/meal and we hadn’t booked but as it was 3pm they managed to find us a table! The service from waitress Victoria was brilliant, she made us feel very welcome and was great at her job. Here there and everywhere! The food was delicious, and good value for three courses £30! I had the pork belly for main -so tasty and the trio of desserts was beautiful. Thank you so much we had a lovely valentines! It was our first time visiting but it won’t be our last!

Came on Sunday was extremely busy however the service was great. Waited 5 mins in the bar area with a drinks before being shown to our table and didn't have to wait long considering how busy they were for food to arrive condiering we were a large table. The chicken pie was amazing, highly recommend. Staff were very helpful and friendly and great to see the pub is dog friendly too.

We dined on Valentines day evening. "Nat" our server was lovely and very attentive. The food was excellent value for money. The sea bass main was a little disappointing but overall an excellent meal was had

Lovely small pub with great atmosphere, dog friendly areas. Food generally good but portion sizes (especially Sunday mains) could be better. Parking can get busy but there's normally spaces for all. On the whole a cheery nice establishment.

We have visited this pub on numerous occasion as we really enjoy the food. We came a about 6 months ago we had an appalling visit but everyone deserves an off day so we decided to try again, well what a mistake that was. Our table was booked for 4.45pm, we were seated and waited half an hour to be asked if we wanted a drink, 20 minutes later i had to go and ask for someone to come and take our food order, so this was now nearly an hour since we arrived. The food came out 45 minutes later, and might i add it wasn't that busy to cause this much of a delay. The food was disgusting! The roast vegetables were solid but burnt, i carrot on plate and very sloppy fatty belly pork, overcooked and tasteless. Missing items, i had to send mine back as the vegetables were burnt to a crisp, and so therefore my side orders weng cold. The turkey was all sloppy like it had been injected with water and the stuffing balls were like mush. Put it this way the plates were still almost full when we left, for the price you charge this was atrocious food and service shocking, whilst waiting for our food order to be taken i could here numerous people complaing about this and that which should of been a red flag. The gentleman serving wasn't very apologetic at all so we just wanted to leave which of cousre took another 20 minutes to bring tge bill. Definitely not value for money and will mosy certainly not return again. Was once a place we really enjoyed dining at but now has totally gone down hill...

Overall not a bad experience , however extra pigs in blankets although tasty a little burnt , temperature of food very inconsistent but the biggest disappointment had to be the Yorkshire puddings , while waiting watched plates going by looking fantastic unfortunately I swear ours were a frozen variety by a famous aunt and finally to desert had neither of what was on the menu at a 1:30 pm sitting

Called in on a Saturday afternoon and was impressed. No complaints about the food or service . Well worth a visit if you fancy a pleasant atmosphere and a log fire . Nat was our server and made us feel so welcome and relaxed, a credit to The Anchor for having such a wonderful member of staff.. 10/10

We were very impressed by the food , service & atmosphere here on a Saturday lunchtime . However the best was the amazing customer service by Nat , she was attentive , friendly & just a true professional . We have been to other Vintage Inns but The Anchor stands out by a mile for the food & experience ….well done to the whole team

Had a lovely meal here tonight brought both my dogs who where welcomed by all staff the service was great we where served by Nat who made sure we had everything we needed and explained they had some options for the dogs two (which they loved) Nat even went as far as bringing a water bowl over to our dogs for them. Will definitely visit again :)

Staff, service and food was brilliant. We both thought it was tad cold in there though.

This was a busy Saturday evening but by booking we reserved a table. We were met by Nat who showed to our table. She took our drinks order and let us choose from a good Vintage inn menu. The drinks were swiftly followed by our three different main meals all with fresh vegetables and excellent chips. Coffe with a small sweet is always good. An enjoyable evening made special by the service we received. Keep it up.

Really lovely meal with lots of choice. Lovely and cosy lunch on a cold winter afternoon. Great service by Nat who looked after us today. Would definitely recommend and will be making a return visit.

We drove from Manchester today to visit family and needed to leave feedback at just how impressed we are with The Anchor Inn. We were sat by a cosy fire, all ordered different dishes, all of which were amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed, delicious desserts and attentive service from Mike and Beth. We’d drive 2 hours just to have those triple cooked chips again soon! Thanks so much for the fabulous service, cosy atmosphere and delicious food!

Great look and feel. But one bit of advice, DON'T ORDER on the app, because they never bring your drinks out. Three times in a row, I've had to get my own drinks when I've ordered on the table service app

Cracking venue for a bite to eat and good pint. For starters I thought I'd sample the prawn cocktail and pleasantly surprised when it came out, this in itself is a meal then for main course I sampled the Lamb Shank complete with mash and veg which I thoroughly enjoyed. Well worth a visit folks and just to add the staff were brilliant and we did give a tip for all their hard work

Love the food in the anchor. Been visiting for years. Unfortunately it is very cold and they give you blankets to put on your lap. Not sure why they can't put hearing on. The service last night was very slow.

Fantastic pub and food. Sat looking over the canal. The manager and staff have always been welcoming when we visit. Even allowing us to park our car or camper overnight whole staying in our boat. This gives us an extra reason to pop in even if sometimes it's only for a drink or two.. great in the summer, too, with outdoor seating. Food is always great and of good quality. Lots of drinks to choose from . Decore could do with a bit of a tidy as in areas it’s showing, however still a modern looking venue. 3x fire places which are lovely in the winter. Very much recommend 👌

Not bad, but won't return for the price and food standard A group of 6 of us visited on New Years Day, and didn't have an experience that we had hoped before arrival. Food was slow to come out, we was there almost 3 hours for 2 courses (Mains & Deserts) to come out but half expected this given that it was New Years Day, and it appeared they didn't have many staff on. The mains we had we're OK, however one of the steaks did come out cold. Again the majority of the deserts were nice, however I am not sure what the Eton Mess is supposed to be (have linked a picture of this), we just couldn't eat that. Found our waiter to be very pleasant and all the staff were working hard, but the food let it down for us especially when you are paying over £15 per meal you expect a certain standard which wasn't met.

very welcoming , warm and homely with real fires and a lovely xmas atmosphere. Booked as a post xmas family get together. The whole team are welcoming and efficient a real focus on making it a positive experience, service really good, co-ordinated by Nat who was lovely and very service driven. Table perfect, not squashed (7 of us) . Shame that the menu was more limited than we would have liked because of xmas rush but we coped.

Booked to come here to meet family we haven't seen for 2 years, this is our normal meeting spot and we've never been able to fault the place before however last night was atrocious. I will put our hands up that 2 of our guests were late as they thought the booking was 7pm which we apologised for. However when we went to order everything we named we were told they didnt have it, im not sure why the waitress didn't say to us when we went to order what they did or didn't have, there was no pizza dough, no pies, no steaks, no red pepper soup, overheard someone being told there were no prawns. Not sure what else there was or wasn't, then when it came to paying my mum had a gift card which she asked for £120 to be taken off, the waiter took the full amount from the gift card and then just stared at us. Unfortunately we'll be finding a new meeting place going forward which is a shame as it used to be and could go back to being a lovely pub I must say the food we had was nice.

We had Sunday lunch. The food was very good. We did have to wait for the food, but Nat our server explained what the problem was.

Came for Sunday lunch today in the dog friendly area with our pooch Annie, fires lit, so made it feel really cosy. Our server Nat was really attentive to both me and my husband but our dog Annie too giving her dog treats and providing a water bowl. We both had Sunday Trio and thoroughly enjoyed the roast 🙂

Visited today 07/12. Party of 7 with a well behaved "Charlie" dog. Couldn't fault anything at all. Seated in a lovely area near the fire, service was faultless, lovely food and great portions, and treats for the dog too. Party had a range of things from the menu, from beef brisket sandwich and fries to roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings, and everyone was really pleased with everything. Staff were lovely, friendly, and a real credit to you. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone wanting a real gem!

From when I walked in the door,I,we,were ignored.we had table booked for 8. We had wrong table,broken chair,heard shouting from kitchen. One of our party ordered prawn cocktail,she asked why no avocado in it,waiter got one ,literally in a dish. There was virtually no 'roast,meat type food available, no garlic bread, no veg only what was with chosen meal,veg was hard and cold. When one of my party went to bar for drink she was told to sit down,she was busy!!!!! Fire went out so, as it says on the sign,we asked the waitress to relight, sgr says no as it won't go out before they closed at 9.30, it was 8.30 and we were cold. A waiter had different tale,he said they had no coal outside. We saw a table of 4 served hot Sunday roast style meals,though ' it was not available ' we were told we could only sit at table until 9.30 and then we'd have to move to bar area! There was no 'honeycomb dome' the one pud that we wanted so we ordered coffee as it came with mini flapjacks.....wrong! Waiter had no idea he said I've got a pack of biscuits and brought a large pk of biscoff and gave us two each. My coffee was cold. Overall we were absolutely gobsmacked, such appalling service, they actually said NO 8 times to 8 different questions or requests. I genuinely felt there was a bad atmosphere in the kitchen? Either way I, no we, all 8 of us, will not go there again.

Great sunday roast. Hot and delicious!

First time the chicken was undercooked and today the beef on the Sunday roast was a lump of fat and the food was only luke warm. I really can't understand why cooks can't manage to serve hot food. Doubt we'll return
