Maybe pop in for a drink? The food was below par with potato less roast potatoes, under cooked vegetables especially cauliflower cheese!! Surely the cauliflower needs to be part cooked before throwing it under the heat to melt the cheese?? My dog would have had trouble crunching the storks!! Waiting staff were pleasant so at least that’s something. Recommend to come back ……. Don’t think so , like I said maybe a drink if I’m passing.

We came for Sunday lunch for a family of 4 adults; two lamb roasts and two sirloin roasts. The sirloin was fab but the lamb was very sinewy; the main problem was the carrots and parsnips, which were not far from raw, and we were unable to cut them with the cutlery provided (needed a steak knife!). The broccoli however had been boiled to within an inch of its life… would have gone up a straw. Great service from Becky and Dawn, first class!!

Booked for boxing day lunch for a party of 5, and what can I say.. firstly we were greeted by very friendly staff and escorted to our table, everyone ordered different dishes from sirloin steak ,pork belly and seabass.. everyone enjoyed their starters, homemade soup was amazing I was told , as was my duo of smoked salmon and mackerel pate..desserts were fab and even though we were told they had ran out of the creme brulee, after many apologies from the waitress, we all really enjoyed the desserts on offer,. Had a really enjoyable time at the anchor, the atmosphere and the friendly staff who worked hard to make our visit a truly memorable experience.. Thank you for a great boxing day lunch.. and just to end , many from our party left with saying this was was the best meal they had had in a restaurant for a very long time.. we will Definitely be back soon .

Excellent food. Perfectly timed service for each course. If they don't have everything on the menu, don't let it bother you, it means they are actually cooking the food they have, not stockpiling in a freezer. Staff are friendly and efficient. Mother in Law said best meal she ever had... high praise indeed. Once word gets around, this place will become very popular. Total cookery transformation from last visit before it was taken over. Came here for a 21st and 40th get together, we booked a table of 12, we've been to the pub many times before, unfortunately tho this experience was far our worst time ever . We had to wait 15 mins or longer to have to be seated while we stood around the entrance, then after self servicing ourselves to going to the bar for drinks a waitress who seemed to be on her own (bless her ) informed us that there was a lot of mains not on the menu, no pizzas or burgers which left us all very limited what to eat, some resulting to not eating. A phone call would of been nice in our opinion, no one asked if the meal was OK, some of the meals we refused to pay for, as I wouldn't of fed it my dog it, no service off drinks ect or even a desert was shocking. Such a shame really as always known this a lovely place to eat, our biggest regret is that we actually chosen this place over the Malt in gt Wyrley as thinking they could manage our party of 12 due to the size of this place #clearly not. Only tip I could give you is that during a festive busy period maybe a few more staff 👍

Myself being gluten-free was very pleased that the offer of being able to do many of the dishes to suit my diet. I chose the scallop starter as a main meal which they added a green salad to. The salad was dressed really well. For dessert I had the Panna Cotta with fruit which was very light. My family had the homemade burgers and the crab salad which they all enjoyed.

Visited this pub for Sunday meal with family. The menu was limited to either roast beef or roast lamb or a combination of the two. I opted for roast beef, whilst the others had lamb. The waitress informed us that they did a standard size or a smaller meal. Half of us went for the smaller meal and the others the standard size. I was glad I had the smaller meal I would have struggled to finish the other one. All the vegetables where freshly cooked and side servings of cauliflower cheese where also provided the meals where brought out quickly. What a difference from some roast dinners that are served extremely good home cooked food. They also provide details of the produce they use which is locally sourced. The dessert menu was quite extensive I didn't try the puddings but most of how party did again extremely good and generous portions. The price of the meal was very reasonable, the staff friendly and helpful if visiting during the week they offer more choices of main dishes. If visiting it is probably worth booking a table. It was quite busy. Would definitely go again.

The anchor inn is a real throwback to the 50's. it's been run by the same family since sometime in the 1800's and is now run by Olive. It has two rooms, both small and one bar about a metre (yes, 1 metre) in length. It sells one draught ale (6x) which is very well kept plus some bottled beers and cider (not cidre!). It serves freshly made sandwiches the sign said so being lunchtime we asked what the choice was - "cheese" said the lovely Olive and then added "with pickle, onion or tomato if you like". There was one local in when we arrived on Sunday. Soon another 6 or 8 further turned up. Very inclusive lovely atmosphere so don't miss it if your near. Ale and cheese sandwiches!

We have visited The Anchor for lunch twice in as many weeks. We were so impressed with the food the first time that we booked lunch a week later for a birthday celebration. Every dish was outstanding and beautifully presented. The service was very attentive, but not overbearing. It has a family friendly, relaxed atmosphere - important for us as we have a baby. For those with older children, there is a big play area in the garden with swings and slides etc. We're thrilled there is finally a top quality restaurant near Leighton Buzzard! It's also great that there is a cheaper, more 'informal' menu if you just wanted a burger or club sandwich, for example. This will no doubt be a regular for us.
