Friendly staff, good beer, clean pipes and as someone relatively new to the area I found the locals welcoming and friendly too, a good place for a pint and a chat

Popped in the other day, and really impressed by the new refurbishment- one of the nicest pubs now in the town. Thumbs up to the lovely new landlord & landlady! We had a great afternoon, and will see you again soon!

New owners just taken over run by a family very accommodating no food on offer as yet I believe but clean and good beer would visit again when back in the area

Lovely pub just off the high street, provides a great alternative spot for an evening pint when you don't want to drink 'in town'.

A wonderful friendly pub Wes and Theresa and staff do a wonderful job to make all welcome. Great food and great events 👍 had some lovely nights at the anchor Inn including my sons 21st.

We went in here for an end of bay pint it's a nice pud with a good-sized garden. Friendly staff it's a lit bigger in the inside than it looks from the outside it's an ideal place for a business meeting or just a drink with friends

Beautiful old pub, lots of quirky features and decorations. The pub is a stones throw from the river and has a lovely walled garden in the rear. Great selection of local beers and wines, didn't eat but the food that was being served looked and smelt amazing. The landlord and lady were very friendly and accommodating. Would thoroughly recommend for a drink or a bite to eat if in the area

Beautiful pub, amazing staff. Despite it being slightly busy, we were seated and served food within 20 minutes. Will definitely visit again and am very happy with the new management.

Arrived with my elderly mother in a wheelchair was helped right from the carpark to the table as it’s an old building with steps but the staff ensured the mobile ramp was available and could not have done more to accommodate my family. Been to the anchor several times but the service has greatly improved. Lovely staff even lovelier food they even had colouring for the children. Didn’t get chance to play darts but that is a great addition to the pub a real local friendly place with a great garden. Really enjoyed our time. Thank you to everyone

We were promised food in 20 mins! It took 1 hr 50 mins, there were 3 tables ahead of us (parties of 2/4/6) why does such simple food take that long? Ham and eggs ( no gf option, so no chips) salad, fish and chips out of a packet and a steak!!! Thank you fir your response but I need to point out that the I have checked the time of payment and it was 1 hr 50 mins and the ‘booked table’ were walk ins ( your staff told us that and one of them was in front of us at the bar when she asked if you had a free table) lying does not excuse poor service

No waiting for a pint, quick service and a decent pint of ale or lager... Whatever takes your fancy. Friendly bar staff... All good 👍

Drinks nice, service great, but felt shabby, untidy and dirty compared to old owners

Great new management, food was great and staff are very friendly and attentive. This place is definitely in good hands and cannot wait to visit again.

Nice beer garden facing the sun 🌞 and just happened to see the flyover during regatta weekend.

We didn't eat , just popped in for a (3) quick pint, Brakspears Oxford gold ( Gorgeous) Bertie our border was made very welcome. We will be back soon to try the menu 😋

Nice pub good seating areas inside and out

Lovely little pub, outside area is great. Staff were fantastic, friendly and very dog friendly. We had a pasty which came very fast was piping hot and was full of flavour, beer was perfect too, obviously they keep their beer well.

Really cute little pub but the bar woman was incredibly rude to the other bar man, the person ordering in front of us and to our group which really ruined the experience here!

Booked a table for 7.30pm on Wednesday 1st February. Arrived at 7.40pm, due to no fault of our own, as friend had travelled over an hour to join me and got caught in traffic. Told rather bluntly that our booking was cancelled and the chef had gone home as we were late. I repeat, only 10 minutes. The attitude was awful. The place was empty. No wonder. Obviously being kept alive by loyal locals and tourists or drunk regatta attendees. A shame, as I've been frequenting for many years.

Lovely Mother's Day meal,roasts and puddings were amazing and our waitress was friendly and efficient.

Had an amazing roast beef lunch, (walk-in at Noon) crispy potatoes, lovely veg, side of cauliflower cheese (unexpected), not stingy on the gravy, tender beef, perfectly cooked pink, friendly staff, great value, highly recommend, definitely my new go to for Sunday roast in Henley. Traditional pub atmosphere, lovely lunch!

A good pub. It has an outdoor terrace so you can stay there all year round, whatever the weather.

Great venison special, and a pint of Brakspear at a very reasonable price. Very friendly service

Popped in for an early dinner on Friday evening. Great service and food to match. We ate from the Specials menu, ribs for one and venison for two. Both were excellent. Happy to recommend it.

Just had a drink so can't comment on food. I felt sorry for the girl who was working her first shift here. She was being trained by various people who were all telling her different things. They couldn't even agree on which table numbers were which. Family of 4 came in and asked for a table for lunch but we're told to come back in 40 minutes as a little bit too busy. Ás they left, a family of 3 passed them in the doorway and they asked someone else if they could have a table and were told yes and were seated at a table for 4. Very odd that there was no table 1 minute earlier. Both parties were asked if they had booked and both said no. Very frustrating to witness the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing!!!!!!

Very welcoming traditional local pub in the heart of Henley. We had steak and enjoyed it, lovely atmosphere with outside seating on sunny days. Would recommend a visit.

Nice outdoor pub garden with a selection of both smoking and non-smoking tables. The area is enclosed with little wind allowing for a pleasant experience to converse in. Nice couple of ales on tap.

Went here on the ale trail. Place was nice enough to have a sit and drink however, it was a bit let down, I felt, by the bartender. When I ordered a vodka and Coke, they straight away got a Coke bottle out the fridge. I thought that was a bit odd as most pubs use the nozzle for Coke solution. Maybe they didn't have any but they certainly had the nozzle there and didn't ask me about it. They then proceeded to tip the Coke bottle straight into the glass fizzing it up and pouring it till it spilled over the sides of the glass. They then threw the Coke bottle in the bin even though it had some Coke left in that they hadn't tried to pour in the glass! That, I thought was quite unacceptable. Sure they might not of had Coke solution and the Coke in the bottle was all they had. That's fine. However to throw away a quarter of something I am about to buy is not ok. It had some good alcohol on tap and good seating out the back. Unfortunately the experience was let down by the bartender on the day.

Was a little disappointed no Sunday roast but fish pie good as was service .

Simple but perfectly sized portion of quite possibly the nicest sausage and mash i have ever had....

The place is clean and comfortable. But I was charged £28.30 for one jug of pimms and a pint of Moretti. My fault for not asking the price in advance but I think that's expensive. The waitress wouldn't give me a receipt after paying for it either. I wouldn't not recommend it.

Not enough attention paid to the quality of the draught ale. The pipes need a daily clean.

One of the best fish and chips that I alway had. Really fresh fish quality, not oily or soggy. Perfect. The stick toffee pudding was perfect perfect as well

This is a superb Henley pub. There's a small car park at the side plus a good sized garden at the rear, some of which is covered. The staff are welcoming and friendly, providing a good service. The food is excellent with a good selection of choices including meat and vegetarian. Dogs are permitted both inside and out. We've eaten here and also just had drinks. The bar area is attractive, with both low and high tables. A good place to visit.

Spent some lovely time here... but wasn't in a fot state to review it at the time and pretty much can't remember much about it now.... so it must have been pretty decent.

Great pub right one the river with two separate outside areas. One for dining and one for drinking. Good selection of beers, friendly staff and dig friendly.

The Anchor is a family owned and run pub. The homemade sausage roll and chips are fantastic.

Me and my family just had an amazing meal at the Anchor! It was for my father’s birthday and we were delighted both my the service and by the quality of the food! Additionally, all the tables were socially distanced and all members of staff wore face covers, it was an extremely safe establishment. I will definitely recommend the Anchor to my friends and I will certainly be returning soon!

Went there on Sunday for lunch and wow what a great day! their garden restaurant was busy!! (Very COVID aware I felt safe) Atmosphere was buoyant, staff everywhere very helpful and attentive, My dogs and I where very much looked after and welcomed and what a sun trap that garden is! Saying that the best was yet to come! The food! it was beautiful, chicken melted in my mouth, wonderful afternoon experience well done to you all!! See you very soon! X

I've enjoyed the anchor in the past but my last trip in September was abysmal. Firstly the grumpy old woman receiving guests at the entrance to the garden was horrendously rude to start with. Real attitude problem. I brought my excitable puppy along, and that grumpy old bag stared at me throughout, shaking her head in disgust. So I felt uncomfortable the entire time, bad enough trying to manage the puppy, she just made it worse. The food was absolutely horrible. I ordered crayfish salad which consisted of a few scraps of crayfish on a huge bed of iceberg lettuce and chunks of tasteless tomatoes. These are cheap fast food ingredients, who serves iceberg lettuce?!! Awful, will never go back there.

Good house wine, well stocked fireplace in the winter months, hidden just off the beaten track but worth the diversion for a drink.

Pre ordered my Rabbit takeaway from the superb menu and was is good is an understatement. Perfectly packed and ready to go on time. The food really was excellent and highly recommended.

I went for a meal with my sister yesterday and it was amazing!! Ellie welcomed us both and immediately and made sure we had a drink each and menus. My sister had the chilly chips and she as always, ate it all and it’s a very generous size I asked for the blue cheese mushrooms which wasn’t on the specials board but I knew Jeremy the chef and I knew he will always try to accommodate us if he has the ingredients, he had the ingredients and I had the most mouthwatering blue cheese mushrooms! it was lovely and even tho they take covid very seriously, you still really feel the atmosphere in this pub it’s was a lovely evening and I highly recommend everyone go there! thank you to Jeremy and his team great job!

Me and my friends visited The anchor on a weekends trip to Henley. It exceeded our expectations and we were very happy to see the precautions they have taken to make sure everyone is safe and socially distanced. The food was great and well priced, and the atmosphere was great. We were very grateful for the lovely outdoor area with heaters. Would recommend to everyone.

Couldn’t recommend this pub enough. Me and my family were pleasantly surprised to find this gem hidden in Henley. Good food, drinks and atmosphere.
