Loved the Saturday breakfast - South Indian and English breakfast on offer. And food, service and atmosphere was amazing. Really glad someone offering excellent South Indian food at good price!

We were tipped off to this place by a friend. He said it's the best Indian food in Oxford and now we've had it I have to say he might be right. We went for the breakfast buffet and everything was seriously SO GOOD! There was a really diverse selection, and everything was incredibly flavorful. The staff were also super knowledgeable, and so welcoming and kind. The chef came out to say hello at the end of the meal. He seemed to really care about his work and that care really shows in the good food. We will definitely be back and you should go too. I don't think you'll regret it.

Tasty South Indian food buffet on a Saturday morning under £10. What more can you ask. My son and I visited recently as it was highly recommended to us and we weren't disappointed at all. All the staffs were Fab, the hostess was very welcoming and the Proprietor Selva was personally meeting all tables to make sre everything was in order. My son throughly enjoyed the poori masala and masala dosa. There were 5 different main dishes plus variety of sides and dessert. Food wasn't too spicy and not too blant. Would highly recommend. 5 start service and 5 star food.

Another visit to the Ampleforth for a delicious buffet breakfast. The food is freash and very tasty. The staff were very helpful and explained anything I was unsure of. It's lovely to see it busy and appreciate the Chef and owner coming to check everything is OK. If I had to give any area to improve it would be the decor. It's needs updating

I recently ordered food from Ampleforth Arms restaurant for my son’s birthday party, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about it! Selva was so friendly and delivered the food to my home. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Their excellent food and outstanding service will make any event memorable. Thank you for making my son’s birthday so special!

Tried the South Indian buffet on a Saturday morning, it took me back home. The food was very wholesome, delicious, served hot and fresh to us. The owner and chef is lovely to speak to, the staff is extremely kind and welcoming. It was a lovely experience with the good food, great service and cozy ambience. Would definitely recommend it and visit again☺️❤️

We got party order from here and the food was so delicious. Especially the dessert Vanilla Panna Cotta was amazing. Its look and packing was excellent. All food was so delicious and tasty. Even two guests took reference of the chef and they will also place orders for sure. Overall excellent service and good quality food.

A local pub for local people, you have no business here. Even walking past you get every stop and stare, the atmosphere very is unwelcoming. I would recommend going elsewhere.

Had my mother in laws wake at the Ampleforth Arms. Can’t fault it, clean, friendly and so much food. We asked for a buffet and it was amazing, unfortunately we didn’t take a picture but it included sandwiches, quiche, Indian snacks, pizza, sausage rolls, sausages, chicken wings, fillets and chicken skewers, fruit, dipping salad vegetables, vegan food, cheese, crisps, cakes, tea and coffee, amazing food. Would highly recommend them for price, quality and quantity.

The Ampleforth Arms done us proud for my mother’s funeral. Plenty of food, tea & coffee to go around and a good selection of beers. It was well organised with enough room for everyone to sit. Especially good as not far from the Crematorium in Headington. We shall come back again for future family gathering.

Weren't there long as went with friends for a wake. It was a bit chilly inside, but was a really nice setting. It was presented really nicely and was a good place for us all to sit together. The food was really nice and a great selection. Was lovely and clean, including the toilets. Haven't been here for many years!!

The perfect venue for a wake — a quiet community pub with plenty of space indoors and outdoors for family and friends to come together and pay tribute to a lost one. The staff were very professional and very attentive to our needs. We brought in our own catering, decorated the space, and played our own music, both live and through their music system. such a nice place, they offered pizza van and disco on a Saturday evening, you could bring in the kids as well so they play in the garden or for some moves. the pizza was great as well

We recently held my brother's wake at the Ampleforth. Right from booking I knew we were in safe hands. They made the process very easy, allowed us access to personalise the rooms and provided a good spread. Family and friends had a relaxed afternoon in lovely surroundings. Thanks to all the staff.

We recently arranged a wake for a family member at The Ampleforth. It was a perfect venue for us. Bright, open rooms and there was so much food all freshly made. The staff were professional and attentive. I would definitely recommend this pub to everyone for all occasions.

Recently booked out part of the pub for a funeral reception/wake. The Ampleforth team put out a great spread. There was a lot of variety, and the quantity and quality received positive comments from all of the guests. Sandwiches, quiche, pizza, sausage rolls, chicken satay, chicken drumsticks, vol-au-vent, prawn tempura, cake, tea and coffee, and other things I have forgotten. Very good value for money indeed. Background music was also what I had requested and at the perfect volume to be able to hear it but not drown out conversations. Altogether a very positive experience and highly recommended.

Yes we have been out again for a meal, this time it was me, my wife and my mum and dad. We decided to try the Ampleforth Pub in Risinghurst, the last time we had entered that Pub it was just that, a Pub now we had heard it was a community Pub so we thought we would try it out, we booked our meal for 12 noon today because this is the time my mum likes to eat at that time. We got there and went in and from that moment the barman could not have been anymore pleasant, he told us what table we were to use and we found it with ease, we all sat down and my mum got back up to get us all drinks obviously I had Pepsi max because I drove there and needed to get everyone home again, we all had the same dinner, roast chicken, the whole meal consisted of a large chicken leg with stuffing, five roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, and Veg which was delivered to our table in tin trays, which consisted of broccoli one one side and carrot and swede sticks on the other side of this tin and in the other tin was cauliflower cheese, everything was so well cooked and piping hot, we were even offered more gravy half way through the meal and my wife grabbed that opportunity. With this meal being so good you would have cost the earth but to my surprise it only cost us £40 for all four of us, so I am happy to give the Ampleforth a whopping 9 out of 10.

Great little pub, sadly did not have kitchen open on the day we went so will have to pop back to try it out, but we did get great service for what we had.

Wife and I visited The Ampleforth Arms for Sunday Lunch Sunday March 1st 2020. Have seen many signs posted outside pub/restaurant doors in my time boasting 'Best Sunday Lunch in Oxford' . Well The Ampleforth can certainly boast that and add their name to that list. Sunday Lunch was top drawer. We couldn't recommend it more highly. Staff courteous and caring and nothing too much for them. Stayed on for a couple of hours after to take advantage of the beers on offer. Be returning very soon with a few more family members and friends. Scrumptious.

It's a local community ran Pub, Has more of a Social Club atmosphere than most pubs. But overall a really nice quiet Pub, good Beers, and available for event bookings.. Don't let the look of the outside put you off 😁

Not the most attractive of buildings as it was pretty much boarded up. No curb appeal at all. The people did open up early for us as the timings were not quite right. The buffet was very good and was readily replenished. The bar was quite well stocked and the staff were friendly.

Excellent home cooked Sunday Lunch it was amazing and for the pudding it was heaven. Would highly recommend 😁

A community pub.... Strange as it was almost empty when I visited. Great idea but the community needs to fill this place 👍

We had a kids’ birthday party at this lovely local, hiring out one of the rooms, and were well looked after by the lovely staff. CS Lewis used to live down the road and drink in here with JRR Tolkien. There’s a mural of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by local kids, in the garden.

Good local pub and has a great atmosphere when the football is on! Beer is good value and so glad its re-opened and gives a focus to our community. Only suggestion for it is that it can feel a bit too spacious for a pub. There's something appealing about nooks and crannies of a traditional English pub (but this is more a matter of taste than anything).

Used to be a great pub, but it's just not the same, not only half of it is open, don't get me wrong it's OK, but just not the same as it was.

Community Pub with good real ales - choice of three.

Now community owned. Lovely warm fire. Friendly staff and there is a good selection of drinks. Shows football too. Although smaller (cosier) it is a big improvement in appearance and ambience from the previous pub.
