The Alpha Inn in Carmarthenshire

We enjoyed a nice Sunday lunch here. The portions were generous, and I liked the selection of vegetables. The staff were great. The meat was quite tough, though, and the Yorkshire pudding slightly overdone (some might say burned). Overall, it was still a good meal and wouldn't put me off returning to this location.

We stopped for food on the way to our campsite, the owners and locals were so inviting and friendly. The food was absolutely lovely and I would recommend 👍👍 We had such a good time we went back on another two occasions before going home, had a great laugh, felt like we were in our own little local, A must visit if you're in the area ❤️

We had to come back again as the service was amazing as well as the food. Great place for families with children. Weather was not good today but this place was great stop to relax and have a fantastic meal. Plates were empty x

I just ate a very nice gammon steak dinner, with a very delicious apple crumble and cream for dessert. I'm currently stay next door at the excellent Gwynfryn Guest House, so it's really handy having somewhere to eat so close by. Elaine was very helpful and friendly and the place has a friendly warm atmosphere, and it's just very pleasant all round. I'll certainly be eating in there again before I go home on Monday!

Nice welcome and excellent homemade food, we where a party of 12 and everyone enjoyed their choice of food from the menu, the two gentlemen who had the steak saids it was the best they have had and both are hard to please , puddings all home made, excellent, we will be back ,thank you

Always visit The Alpha on CarTen weekend Fab place. This year….they were handing out free Mars and Snickers to the cyclists. What a fabulous gesture

7 of us went for food here and we absolutely loved it! The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The price was very reasonable and I will definitely be going back soon. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a delicious meal at a reasonable price!!

We went to this lovely restaurant, that has been taken over by two lovely ladies. The food was amazing and the desert was truly the best I have ever had. This place was child friendly and couldn’t ask for better service. We will be coming back when we visit wales again.

Inn had only reopened on the Wednesday, run by two sisters, food was excellent, I wish them well.

Delicious roast beef dinner, huge portions for the price and a Biscoff cheesecake to die for! Good to see food back on the table at The Alpha and Chris and Sarah returning to cook. Lovely food and reasonable prices. Staff were brilliant. Only dropped one star on atmosphere as we went in the daytime so was quiet but i can imagine its great in the evenings as its a lovely setting with music nights and offers e.g curry night etc..we live 1 1/2hr away and will visit again when we return.

We went for Sunday lunch and what a lovely one it was! We were met with a friendly greeting, shown to our table and a drinks order taken not long a after we sat down. Our order was taken by a lovely waitress who brought our drinks and was so accommodating with our requirements (thank you). The garlic mushrooms on ciabatta were out of this world, creamy and not too much garlic, piping hot and plenty of them. The main course did not disappoint either, we had the beef, lamb and chicken between us, all the meats were cooked to perfection and fell apart on the fork. Lovely honey glazed roasted parsnips and plenty of roast potatoes on a bed of delicious creamy mashed potato (lump free) served with a mountain of delicious fresh veg and a side of cauliflower cheese to share, which was just stunning. All roasts served with a Yorkshire pudding and stuffing at no extra charge. Pudding for those who didn’t have the starter was Sticky Toffee and it was as light as air, with a gorgeous sticky sauce and lashings of hot creamy custard. Wow, this was a fantastic meal, and such good value for money as well. There are 1, 2 and 3 course options but the food portions are so generous we could only manage 2! The staff are really attentive and efficient too. What a wonderful experience, thank you again, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and we will definitely be back.

Visited a couple of years back and had good food and regularly recommended to others. Don’t know if it’s changed owners but it just wasn’t the same. We had two burgers and a chicken curry but it was very average. Paid extra for one burger which had pulled pork on but hardly any on it to warrant the extra price. Chips okay. Curry looked like it was out of a jar. Condiments served in little pots which I personally don’t like. Overall an underwhelming meal and won’t be returning.

My recent visit to this restaurant left much to be desired. The food was underwhelming, particularly the burgers, which tasted like frozen patties. The atmosphere lacked appeal, and the options for beer were limited. All in all, it was a disappointing experience.

First visit to the alpha as local to the premises.food ok but plates cold. My wife’s had curry and chips and the only thing warm was the chips ,my scampi and chips was ok but the peas were stone cold as the plate..no table check was made .on proceeding to pay the bill we asked to pay £50.10 but the actual bill was was £36.60 after we asked for that to be checked . Value for money? Don’t think we will be revisiting

We were so disappointed with this meal. We had a Sunday roast here a few years ago, and we were all looking forward to our roast dinner. It was one of the worst meals we have ever had. The plates were cold, and the food was tasteless. Nothing was fresh, all frozen food. Their Web site needs updating as the prices have gone up and only 3 options to choose from. The only thing that had any taste was the cauliflower cheese. That was lovely. But you had to pay extra for that.

Ate here on Friday evening with my partner and mother-in-law and the food was outstanding. I had the steak loaded fries and cheesy garlic bread buguette, all of which were incredible. Such a big portion - really good value for money! My partner had Lasagne and again, good portion and sooo tasty. The mother-in-law had the fish and chips which was also delishious - the home made chips are probably up there with the best we've had! Friendly setting, great atmosphere, delishious food and wonderful staff 🙂 Highly recommend! (Didn't take any photos unfortunately 👎)

Called in for a bite to eat at lunch and we were the only ones there but that was because we were very early and they had just opened. The staff were lovely and the food was superb, also the portion size was very good and presented nicely. Next time we're in Tavernspite we will be calling in again for some food.

Went for Sunday lunch and what a smashing time we had. A really great family village pub serving up some delicious food. Our Roast chicken was superb, loads of vegetables to accompany it but for me it was the sticky toffee pudding - an absolute delight. One of the best I’ve tasted in years. This place is a must if around Carmarthen area. A lovely atmosphere, both in the bar area and restaurant. Staff are super friendly and attentive, were always checking if we needed any more drinks and if there was anything more they could do. We ordered steak, monkfish and chicken all of which were delicious - hats off to the chef! The owners made us all feel extremely welcome and we will definitely be back! Family of 5 ( 3 generations) visited last night. We all had an extremely good meal, two of us are vegetarian and had plenty of options. We had one of the best vegetarian pasta dishes I’ve ever tasted ( including several visits to various Italian cities) Couldn’t fault this place.

Excellent food and service, Yvette and team looked after us really well, massive portions, the pea puree was really delicious. The beef burger and chips were first class,highly recommended.

Recently visited this pub for a funeral tea after a family funeral. A sad occasion but the team at the Alpha Inn were wonderful. The food was amazing, the staff were incredibly attentive and the pub itself is gorgeous. I’d highly recommend.
