The Allotment Vegan Restaurant in Manchester

New menu was great, so much choice! Allotment summer sandwich was lovely :) my partner got the bhaji burger and the chips with it were amazing. Dessert wise, cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding were great dessert choices - the cookie brownie was disappointing (very small and flat) Ambience is lovely, love the music playlist.

Always have an excellent time here, the restaurant is beautiful and the food is delicious - perhaps the best vegan food in Manchester! Nia and Ruby were superb, so lovely and attentive :)

Fabulous cocktails and desserts. Great service from Ruby, Brad, Maisie and Owen. Will be back again to try more of the tasty food.

The ambience in The Allotment is warm and welcoming with lovely views of the Cathedral. The waitress - Charlie - was very friendly and helpful. Sadly, she had to tell us that my favourite ‘Buddha Bowl’ was off. There were several other choices on the menu that weren’t available too. ‘The Allotment Sandwich’ was recommended as a Large Plate main course alternative. Disappointingly, the sandwich and the accompanying roast potatoes were very modest in size. Together, they didn’t occupy much space on the Large Plate. The desserts were very pleasant indeed, but they were quite small too. I would definitely visit the Allotment again, but I would really like to see the portion sizes improved a little beforehand.

Owen, Bradley and Ruby were brilliant. Legends. Exemplary. Order the new York sour and the plant balls (so meaty it doesn't seem real!)

Super friendly staff and super accommodating as me and my partner tried booking late on a Friday evening. Owen and Bradley were superstars.

Great food. Good value. Superb service from friendly server. Only four stars as we had to wait 30 minutes for our main course - only two other diners in the restaurant at the time.

Finding somewhere to eat that caters for myself (gluten free) and my colleague (vegan) can be really tricky. To find somewhere that provides us both with a range of tasty food is a new experience. We went for the five dishes for £30, followed by a dessert, which was plenty. To be able to share our food and both enjoy it was a great experience. The waiter was helpful and friendly but seemed to be running the front of house by himself so we had to wait a bit, although it made for a relaxing evening for us. My colleague enjoyed it so much she’s already looking to plan her next trip to Manchester so we can revisit.

Charlie was lovely, very friendly! They suggested loads of really good tapas. There was loads of choice and choice for people who do not like spice!

Great visit today 27th Sept 24 to have lunch. I am celiac and Vegan and its hard to find a place I can get any choices on the menu so to find The Allotment with so much choice in both vegan and gluten free with lovely food was a great find. Really nice food that was delicious and even suited my non vegan hubby! The aubergine burger stack went down a treat and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed a lovely lunch as part of our shopping trip into the city and would highly recommend this lovely little find opposite the cathedral. Definitely going back to try the Sunday lunch. We found this restaurant by accident, dodging a rain shower! Lovely location beside Manchester Cathedral, and so comfortable inside. I went for the Celeria Steak with a nice glass of Merlot. Absolutely gorgeous!

We went for a birthday lunch, the food was very good mostly. As others have said the cauliflower was fabulous, as was the chicory/broccoli dish. Flatbread was a bit stale, and the tiny pot of tahini (£2!) seemed to have been poured straight from a jar but should have had water/lemon and garlic added. To me it was inedible. The meal was was also a bit let down by the fact for some reason they weren’t serving alcohol today, as it was a celebration outing for us we’d hoped for an interesting glass of something. Service was terribly slow, we arrived a few minutes early for a 1.30 booking, and didn’t get anything to eat till getting on for 2.15. I would go back for an informal meal, but not for a special occasion. And definitely not if I was in a rush!

I had the cauliflower wings with sriracha Mayo - a very generous potion and so tasty! Charlie served me and she was utterly delightful.

We had high hopes for this place. A 1 hour drive plus parking (£14) plus a £90 food and drink bill (family of 4 of which two are children) and all-in-all it was a very expensive experience. No children's menu so they chose from the Small Plates section. Nobody felt that the food was delicious and personally, my Sunday Lunch (Roasted Butternut Squash) was luke warm and undercooked. The food in general was mediocre. Polenta fries were bland. Aubergine burger looked very greasy. My meal lacked flavour and was poorly cooked. Deserts took almost 30 minutes to arrive and we nearly cancelled them to leave. When I went to pay, when asked "how was it", I told the employee of our experience who did apologise but offered nothing else and proceeded to charge the full price. Sadly, we will not be returning and will not be recommending.

I was visiting Manchester and very much looking forward to going to The Allotment as had eaten in the Stockport Allotment several years ago and the food was outstanding. Unfortunately the food here was very disappointing. The Cauliflower wings lacked sny flavour other than that of cornstarch. My fiends lemon risotto was stodgy and looked and tasted very artificial. My meal was mediocre and I have had much better meals having the vegan option in a generic pub menu! I won't be going back. They need to up thier game by a long way.

Waited ages for our food then the mains came cold. Desert wasnt as asvertised on the menu. Staff didnt seem to care. Been a few times over the years and have always made it a go to when we visit manchester but something felt different this time, not the same standard. We wont bother going again.

Service here was poor. Very late food, not all out together, mine was forgotten, left downstairs, and then took another 5 mins. My food was raw and the potato colcannon was terrible, really awful flavour, smash with lemon. Our GF guest was not told that they had no GF flour and therefore no bhaji came with their meal. Just not what we expected. Felt sorry for the waitress who was lovely and very apologetic however, I would have expected a visit from the chef/manager after complaint. I refused to pay for my inedible plate. Won't be going again.

I had high hopes for The Allotment, but sadly both of us were left disappointed. Having been vegetarian for 42 years I expected a selection of fresh salads at the very least. The cauliflower wings were fine, but very deep fried. The mixture in the tacos was far too sweet & sloppy. My toasted stacker was basically four toasted sandwiches with a slimy filling (only 4 mushrooms!) & a frizzled ‘leek bhajee’. We told the waitress of our disappointment (we both left half our meals) & I’d hoped there might be a reduction off the bill, but no, & my husband was too embarrassed for me to push it further. Service was pretty slow, albeit friendly enough. I just think vegan food needs to be full of lovely salads, roasted veg with a good range of protein sources. I wanted to win my (carnivorous ) husband over with this restaurant, but unfortunately that proved not to be the case. What a crying shame, as we’d had a fab day in town up until then.

Very disappointing visit .The hors deauvres we had were poor .The soup tasted like baby food sweet potato puree and the bhajis were very greasy and salty .A long while after that course the waitress came over and told us that one of the mains couldnt be made as the chef cpuldnt get the cauliflower on the skewers !! So they couldnt prepare that main dish ..and another one had to be selected meaning we were waiting even longer .This was a very poor evening which we were looking forward to .We ate quickly as we were very hungry qnd got the bill and left .To their credit they did take 20% off the bill but it still ruined our evening .Unlikely we will be returning .
