The Alliance in Camden

We came here for early afternoon drinks and had a decent time, however it was a shame that the two women serving us were in such an obvious rage at all the customers there. Having worked in the hospitality industry I can understand the stressors, however the pub was not that busy as we had mutterings of ‘Jesus Chris’ and ‘can you please wait!’ When we tried to order drinks.In the end we just left and went somewhere else as their was such a hostile vibe. Good food however !

First time back after lock down. Mike and the team have done an incredible job. Staff wearing masks and only 1 person in bathroom makes the pub a safe place visit. The food hasn't changed, it's just as good as pre locked down.

Anoche tuve el placer de tomar unas pintas en este encantador pub de barrio. Después de vivir en Dublín durante muchos años. El tipo de aquí está a la altura de algunos de los mejores que he probado. Arrendador super simpático con buen humor y sin duda una forma de hablar. Nos mantuvo entretenidos a mi esposa y a mí. Muy bonita decoración con un buen ambiente de pub. 1 El propietario cobró de más a la familia por 15 hoy. O lo intentó. Gasté 20 en alcohol, 60 en comida, para 4 personas. Solo ofrecía 15 de descuento, pero no tenía idea de que la familia ya había aprovechado la oferta, así que conocía las reglas. Después de una discusión con el propietario, se echó atrás y le dio a la familia los otros 15 que les debían. Me pregunto cuántos otros ha engañado y posiblemente se ha llevado la diferencia.

Wonderful pub with friendly and efficient staff. The squid and chorizo I ordered was cooked to perfection and the Greek salad was full of flavour. The manager, Michael, was attentive without being overbearing. Clear social distancing guidelines in force too.

Had an amazing dinner tonight with my family,the food is excellent along with the fantastic service from all staff;the Landlord was very welcoming and friendly it is such a lovely family friendly pub. I will certainly be returning. Thank you for such a lovely evening

Recently had a large group dinner here. Menu options were chosen ahead of time so service was fast and efficient. Food was excellent - starters, mains and dessert. As on average in London, meals are not "cheap" but this is definitely a cut above the rest.

Came for casual lunch with a friend. Ate a splendid Guinness and Beef pie which was huge and super tasty. Michael is a splendid publican with great warmth. Cosy place with good beers and a separate safe child play area. Recommended!

Soy un habitual de la Alianza, especialmente un domingo, el asado es increíble, sin adiciones pretenciosas o falta de tamaño, es como lo haría ummamá. "La comida durante la semana siempre es fantástica, especialmente si encuentras un pastel Guinness en los especiales. La camarera francesa (perdón olvidó su nombre) siempre es rápida y atenta, y Mike también está bien :)

Durante nuestra estancia a Londres nuestro alojamiento estava delante del The alliance, hemos ido a cenar varias veces, vamos con niños pequeños y el dueño del local es muy amable y agradable con los niños. Tiene una zona de juego infantil donde los más jóvenes no molestan a nadie, y también disponen de tronas. Tienen una amplia selección de cervezas de tirador. Muy recomendable.

We love coming for brunch because the food is great, the owner Mike is lovely and the play area round the back is rammed with great toys for the kids.

This place is a little gem. The Sunday roasts are unreal, and the breakfast is something else too! Highly recommend if you’re bringing the kids out for a bite to eat as they even have a play area there for the kiddies... Mike the owner always has time to say hello, and the other staff their are very friendly and helpful... Can’t wait for this Sunday!

Took the kids here yesterday as someone told me it was great for children. The landlord was a bit grumpy and rude and told us to stop our kids running around the pub - despite there being a kids party on the other side of the bar. Weird. The food wasn't bad and there's a nice cat that wonders around the pub. However, we won't be coming back here, especially with the girls. Disappointing.

The food is nice, almost as good as restaurant food. The dishes are simple, but tasty. There are a lot of locals, who can be quite noisy though.

Almuerzo reservado con amigos y niños. El ambiente más relajado y acogedor que he tenido en mucho tiempo. El amable y cortés personal con una excelente comunicación por teléfono y correo electrónico antes y, a pesar de que parte de la fiesta llegó tarde, no nos presionó en absoluto. Nos quedamos encantados con la comida y las raciones, así como la selección de bebidas. Definitivamente lo recomiendo!

Friendly pub with great food but very popular so book early. It has a young children play area as well.

Best burgers EVER. They will tailor them to what you like. I'm a meat lover but the vegetarian burger is sooo good too I go for it as well. All made from scratch on site. All food is amazing and staff all lovely!

This bar come restaurant has the best breakfast menu known to this writer. where now does Kedgeree? This is in a compromised London where chips are served in breakfasts, and the old school menu items are harder and harder to find.

As a local resident I have attempted to go to this pub a few times. It is the most unwelcoming pub ever. Needs new blood to freshen it up as it could be a nice place. Landlord is ignorant and most rudest person I have ever come across. Real chip on his shoulder. Food is not nice. I'll never be back!

I met with a friend for a drink. Before she arrived I chatted with the landlord and he was charming and fun. The atmosphere in the place is in the tradition of friendly local pubs that Britain is so famous for. Sadly many of these are now gone. But The Alliance is still very much there and I can imagine sitting there and making friends with other locals. In fact I know that my next door neighbour is a regular. I hear that the food is also good but have not yet tried it.

This a great pub in north London in a nice area. The food was great, the atmosphere was good, the service was very good and cleanliness was good. You share the space with people having a drink but it seemed to work very nicely.

Went for lunch yesterday. Quiet atmosphere, which was good. The landlord is very friendly and served us himself. Really good service. I had pork, my friend had cod. Both were well prepared and well presented. For real ale fans, the beer is well kept and...

Come here based on previous reviews and loved it! The portion was very large and well presented and extra gravy without having to ask. Also great table service. Worth a visit, this will be our new regular.

La comida era deliciosa. La decoración era agradable. La experiencia fue eclipsado por el servicio. Nuestra mesa de dos fue uno de los primeros para el servicio de cena. Después de esperar 45 minutos después de nuestra comida, pregunté y me dijeron que no iba a ser otro máximo 5 minutos, luego preguntó qué era pedimos (cómo la camarera se tan rápido a decir 5 minutos cuando ella ni siquiera sabía qué orden que se refieran a? ). Después de esperar una hora en total, nuestra comida llegó. El personal no se disculparon por el tiempo de espera y no ofrecer ninguna aperitivos o bebidas en el interín a disculparse. También, en la mesa de al lado había una camarera sentarse y comer su cena y ella estaba llorando todo el tiempo. . . Espero que ella está bien. Esperaba que frecuentan este hotel, ya que está convenientemente cerca de nuestro alojamiento pero no volveré después de esta experiencia.

Welcoming pub with great food, service and a kid friendly play area. Had the Tuna Tartare and the Dover Sole - the quality and flavours were fantastic! Would highly recommend!

Me encanta este pub! La comida es excelente, un ambiente fantástico y el propietario es muy amable con el personal ser asombroso. Mi pareja y yo hemos estado viniendo aquí para cenas, asados del domingo, las bebidas tranquila, fiestas de cumpleaños, fiesta de Navidad/Año Nuevo y el concurso desde que nos mudamos a la zona hace tres años. ¡Nos encanta!

En los últimos años la Alianza ha recreado como un pub agradable local que es un valor añadido a la comunidad. Buena comida (excelente), ambiente muy acogedor y concurrido concurso un jueves; una buena variedad de cervezas para todos los gustos. Muy contento de tener como mi local ~ 5 minutos a pie de casa.

The Alliance does everything right. Great food, excellent service and very friendly staff. We are regular visitors and have never been disappointed. The breakfast options are amazing and a great place to start the day.

I know the food here is outstanding and has been for years but after calling this local home for 18years, had one of the best plates of food I've ever eaten anywhere - seasonal starter of Chargrilled White Asparagus, poached egg and truffle butter. I'd be so bold as to say it's last supper material, mine for sure. And the sassy publican Michael made it even better. X

We had amazing breakfast with friends on Saturday morning... Friendly staff, great environment, clean premises... What else can you ask for? Highly recommended!!!

The Alliance is a wonderful local pub that caters for all types of pub goers. It has a great selection of regularly changed ales, lagers and as a free house has total control over its stock. They also have an excellent wine list.The food is also superb, whether from their breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner menus - dining there is always a pleasure. There burgers are definitely something to write home about!A great place to have a few or many drinks or just a nice dinner out. The landlord Mike is great and it was truly a pleasure every time to walk in!

Lovely local with always a place to sit without the pretentious feel or overcrowding of West Hampstead pubs or closed, grimey feel of some traditional locals. Had the vegetarian Sunday lunch which was fantastic. Family friendly with kids play area. Beers are on the expensive side but no more than other West Hampstead pubs.

Después de dar muchas vueltas buscando un pub donde dejaran ir con un niño sin poner pegas (en Londres es misión imposible y más de después de las 17:30/18 de la tarde), encontramos esta joya donde nos recibieron con una sonrisa y el trato fue inmejorable. Mi hijo de dos años disfrutó de menú infantil y una zona de juegos para él solo y nosotros de unas pintas de guinness y una de las mejores hamburguesas que hemos probado en nuestra vida con queso brie. Por supuesto repetimos y volveremos en nuestra próxima visita a Londres. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente a familias que quieran disfrutar del típico pub inglés y viajen con niños pequeños.

Been here twice in past week and each time has been very enjoyable. The ambience is relaxing and sofa area is very comfy also the chunky chips and onion rings have to be the BEST I have tasted in London! Keep up the excellent work and I will be visiting here more often for sure

We have been here many times for Sunday lunch and are convinced it is the best place for this in the area.The landlord Michael is very friendly and always does his best to get us a table. It's always busy on a Sunday so if you are looking for more than a table for two, it is probably worth booking ahead.The roast is always excellent; I've tried all of the meats and they have never disappointed, and my wife is a big fan of the vegetarian roast. There is always a good selection of vegetables and trimmings - including a lovely Yorkshire pudding.The pub has a good selection of ales and is very child friendly. Prices are very reasonable.

I enjoy going to The Alliance for dinner/drinks/Sunday roast so very much. We even spent new year's eve there and had a blast.

We come here very regularly as it's our local pub. The food is always great and the menu changes seasonally. They serve a great mix of veggie options which is a plus. and the breakfasts are really stand out too (worth emerging early at the weekend for). The staff and owner are always incredibly welcoming. This place is head and shoulders above the places on West End Lane.

Me and my son went on a Sunday afternoon for a light lunch. Parking was easy at the front. The ambiance was really good with families and children enjoying their conversations and meals. We had ordered two lagers and roast chickens. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was good too. The mustard was really tasty. Will visit again.

i walked into the lounge side of the pub and was greeted as soon as i had walked in by a friendly member of staff, i said i wanted to eat so i was show to a table.me and my lady had fish and chips and it was absolutely delicious!!, the service was A1 and the whole ambiance of the place was just right, i would not just recommend this place i will be making a point to tell people about it,I wish that every publican in the area went in one night just to see how a pub/restaurant should be done. excellent

The Alliance is one of the nicest places I have had the pleasure to visit on several occasions when visiting my daughter in London. The Manager is so friendly and pays particular attention to every detail as far as the food and drinks are concerned. Very clean and always a great atmosphere. All pubs should be like this. Makes it something to look forward after travelling from Scotland.

The Alliance is everything a pub should be. It's friendly, welcoming and comfortable; the food is really excellent whether you're in for breakfast, lunch or dinner; and the prices are significantly better than the local competition. You can watch a bit of football there but it doesn't dominate the place. There's a soft play area for kids in one of the corners. It has a weekly quiz. And because it's a five minute walk away from the very centre of West Hampstead it's always possible to get a table without booking or waiting. What's not to like!

We always look forward to popping into The Alliance. There is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, lovely staff and the food is among the best in West Hampstead. The menu changes regularly and the chef is a proper talent! Perfect place for a pint with friends or family, would def recommend.

Stumbled upon this place on my way to the gym. Decided to come over with friends on a Sunday evening. The place is very welcoming and there is plenty of space. Ideal to chat with friends over a beer and some snacks.

We popped over for last minute family meal. Some of the family are vegetarians and they were catered for beautifully. The pub has a great atmosphere and the staff are ever so friendly, with a huge selection of wines, spirits and draft ale/lager to choose from as well as some extra special dishes which are always being updated- as well as the menu! We had an excellent evening all round.

My sons local, asked to come over and watch the start of the rugby World Cup with him.What a great friendly well run pub , staff very friendly, well kept real ale ,and reasonably priced wine , our party of five all had something different of the menu and it really very good .It's really good when you find something as good as this its just a pity it's not nearer the train station or nearer my home !.

It's a raucous place to watch a rival club game. It's a quiet way to start the day with an English Breakfast and proper black pudding and quality black coffee. It's a place where you feel welcome. It's a bar, a restaurant, a living room, and a den. Simply put, it's a home away from home. The Alliance is all of that, and maybe a little more. An Irish Pub in a Northern English neighborhood, with a gastro-pub menu. Try the salmon cakes and chips. Or the hare stew. The English/Irish breakfast is one of the best I've had. They make everything there scratch. Mike, the ever present owner and his long serving staff will provide you with brisk professional service. And if you prefer a little palaver, well they'll give you that as well. And while it's not a Michelin star restaurant, it does deserve 5 stars as a pub. Bravo!

We had fantastic food here, really good quality meat, great service nothing was too much effort. The staff were really helpful when asked about recommendations. We will definitely be back!!

We went for our tea here today, we know the place quite well due to work as well.Michael the landlord is just ace lovely dry Irish sense of humour, the place is immaculate clear pride is taken here.The food is all freshly cooked and you can't go wrong.Michael reccomended the beef and Guiness pie, it duly came out, a monster of a dish with potato and asparagus. Large chunks of beef beautifully tender in a Guiness gravy with carrots and celery to boost the flavour. Delicious is not enough!!!Michael checks his customers are all ok, naturally we were and he reached out to pat me on the shoulder, he caught my drink glass and knocked what was left (not a lot maybe a sip!) immediately he apologised, mopped up and before I knew it a full pint was placed in front of me!! Honestly there was less than a fluid ounce spilt!Anyway I decided to have a pud went for the walnut and salt caramel cake.WELL! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven amazing, I then tried to pay for it and Michael refused.This place is just great, it's our place of choice to eat when I'm London from now on!YOU MUST GO AT LEAST ONCE! Oh his hand pull beer..... Bang on!

Have visited this pub on a lot of occasions, but never for Sunday lunch, so I booked a table for last sunday. The meal was beautiful from start to finish.. There is a lovely atmosphere in this pub, it has a lot of local and regular customers, which are all very friendly. Will definitely be back.

Went Sunday mothers 71st birthday lunch. Arrived 12.50pm only one other couple eating. (30 minutes later the restaurant was full .) I had veg roast which was two good slices roast nut cutlet, Three roast pot, firmly cooked vegatables of green beans, chunky parsnips, chunky carrots,mashed swede and a cabbage leaf. all beautiful arranged in a stack on the plate. Vegetable gravy on the side. Please note the food amount was not small in fact there was a enough amount to fill me all day. My mothers has the leg lamb which was 3 thick slices of lamb( at least twice the thickness of cavery slices) with all the pots and veg that I got on my plate. This meal was nice and hot . A bottle of tap water was put on the table . This came to £23.00 for both meals . I was very pleased This was overall a good meal and worth the money. We did not have room for pudding at all but saw people eating puds and they looked very nice. Michael the manager is obliging and I'm sure if u had the slightest problem with anything his good for a chat. The service from the staff was good and they did check we were happy with the meal half way through. You can't say farer than that .

Visited here due to working in the area , the landlord is a lovely Irish fella who makes the effort to make everyone welcome and craic a joke or two ! It was well past the usual time for cooked breakfast but he said it was no problem whatsoever.After a short wait my full English breakfast arrived, it was possibly the best English I have ever had! They clearly carefully select all meats from a butchers or farm.Will definitely be back to try the dinner menu, highly recommend

in una sera speciale di metà maggio ho festeggiato con una cena con moglie e figlia all'Alliance. Locale molto accogliente, personale simpatico e disponibile. Ho mangiato un ottimo branzino con patate e devo dire che il piatto non aveva niente da invidiare alla cucina italiana. Molto simpatica l'accoglienza fattami dal proprietario e consiglio vivamente il locale, birra alla spina eccellente!

I have lived in West Hampstead for nearly ten years now, just a few minutes walk from The Alliance, but I've only started going there frequently in the last year or so. I never thought that I would find my own "local" in London but here it is! And it's local in a sense that anyone is welcome - not a local in the sense of "An American Werewolf in London" when the two guys walk into a Northern pub and the talking immediately stops and everyone stares at them. It's a local in the sense that it is a community pub and reflective of the mixed/diverse people who live here.It's not a Hampstead pub full of braying bankers; nor is it a Kilburn pub full of fighters. It's just like the Mill Lane area itself, full of normal people who appreciate the community they live in and enjoy being part of a decent neighbourhood. Michael the landlord is straight out of central casting - hail fellow, well met, Irish wit and bonhomie, always a wisecrack to hand. I've been here with my brother to watch football and rugby, with my wife for a weekeday lunch, with friends for an evening meal. I've drunk myself and eaten by myself as well. It's been just very fine on all those occasions. The food is a lot better than you expect - the full cooked breakfasts in particular - and the range of real ales always interesting. It's not a "destination" venue, it's not the most beautiful pub in the world, the outside space it a little limited, there aren't many beautiful people around (thank God) but it is comfortable, reliable, friendly and always welcoming. I can't recommend it strongly enough.

We visited The Alliance last Sunday for breakfast. What a lovely pub! We felt so comfortable and welcome. And what a surprise....eggy bread! Childhood memories! It was only by chance we found this place, and after our experience of breakfast we decided to go back in the evening for dinner. I'm so glad we did! The staff remembered us and even remembered what we were drinking earlier. Lovely touch. The food is outstanding, as was the service, and although initially it seemed a bit pricey, the meal was well worth it. I would highly recommend The Alliance both for the food but extremely polite and curteous staff.

We went to the Alliance today for Sunday lunch. I ordered a medium sized glass of wine and a pint of Ruddles. I questioned the bill as the price seemed high. I had been given a large glass of wine. This mistake was quickly resolved by the bar woman. However, what I had been charged was still a little over what it should have been. I questioned the bill. The bar woman went and got the manager. He aggressively pointed out I could always go somewhere else. I said the price list should match the till and mentioned trading standards. I sat down with the drinks; they took the menus away; then the money for the drinks was given back to us. I told the bar women that was too generous. When we finished our drinks we went for Sunday lunch elsewhere.

I first moved into West Hampstead nearly 40 years ago, a couple of streets away from The Alliance, which was a very ordinary pub indeed in those days. Over the last ten years, with manager Mike in charge, it has turned into a very different animal indeed, and is now not only my favourite pub in West Hampstead, but also one of my favourite places to eat in the area.The Alliance manages to combine the best of a community pub, gastro pub and child-friendly pub. The service is friendly and personal and the food is exceptional. The Sunday lunches are in a class of their own, and it’s a great spot for an imaginatively cooked lunch or dinner in relaxed surroundings without the ear-splitting noise you get in the rest of West Hampstead’s pubs and many of its restaurants.Definitely worth the walk along Mill Lane to get to this West Hampstead gem. I took a friend who lives in Cricklewood last night and he said it’s definitely on his list of places to take visitors now, not least thanks to the succulent beef and Guinness pie we tucked away!

Having been going into this pub for years, on my latest visit the service if you could call it that was terrible!Having waiting for 10 minutes at the bar waiting to order the bar maid served 2 regulars who had just walked in, at this point there was 4 staff behind the bar and still couldn't be served!The manager was there but he was too busy lighting a cigarette out the front of the restaurant!The other thing with this place if you order food your going to have to wait at least 40 minutes for one course!How this place stays open I don't know as the service is truly terrible

I've been to The Alliance several times now and have been extremely impressed each time by the quality of the food, the wine (haven't tried anything else, but bet it's good) and the service. It has a very authentic English pub atmosphere, but food worthy of a very good restaurant - truly impressive. The landlord and staff are utterly delightful - very friendly and welcoming, but very professional too. An added bonus is that you can park in the side streets for free after midday. Quiet at lunchtime during the week, although busy on Sunday by all accounts. It deserves to be busy all the time. Great place, great value. Go!

I have visited the Alliance many times before and after it has been refurbished. Before and after refurbishment it's been a different atmosphere in a good way. easy to get to, if you fancy a drink without it being busy and loud place to go. Wether you want to go with your friends, family or partner its the place to go. I've had also had food here several times very nice but a bit pricey. Service is good. If you visit West Hampstead and you find the other plcaers are too loud then visited this place which isn't far, few minutes walk from the station or take the C11 which stops a few foot steps away.

This local gastropub never seizes to amaze. I live not far from the Alliance and have now had the opportunity to try breakfast, dinner and Sunday roast meals with my wife and two children, all excellent. The service is friendly and the food is excellent. I was impressed by the reasonable price on the wine, great bottle without a 200% mark up, which is a rarity in North London these days. The menu changes and continues to evolve with interesting new dishes but the favourites are always available like the "best cheeseburger in the world" according to my son.

We live near by The Alliance and began going there regularly eight months ago. We keep returning because of two important things: the food and the owners.The food here is NOT your standard pub fare. They have a chef who knows what he's doing! His vegetarian dinners (which rotate on the menu) are always splendid and the meat dishes cannot be compared to any other pub because they are so much more skillfully prepared. The chef at The Alliance cooks up consistently delicious food where presentation, taste and price will always make you happy you decided to go there instead of The Black Lion or Alice House. Not to slam those two establishments...The Alliance is just...well, it's just better! Don't let the outside fool you into thinking it's just another neighborhood pub (with sub-par food),The Alliance is great and the owner is always friendly, as is the staff. Everyone is accommodating and happy and they always bring our dog a big bowl of water to enjoy. Although away from the High Street of West Hampstead, it's SO worth the walk. We are happy that our "local" is so wonderful! Bonus: you always get a chocolate with the bill!

Beautiful vegetables and roast. I had the lamb. Landlord and staff really kind. Excellent service. It's my local now. Far away, the best Sunday roast in West Hampstead

Fab restaurant, as other reviewers have mentioned a great welcome from Landlord, a cheeky smile and he was lots of fun. Food was superb from an extensive menu. I'm so lucky to have this restaurant in my neighbourhood. Will be going back time and time again. Linda

This place has no idea how to deal with customers or humans in general. We came as a group of 7 and were treated terribly. We were moved from table to table and told that we needed to finish our breakfast within 30 minutes.The staff and the owner were extremely ignorant to all of us and we left without eating anything. I would never return to this place.

While visiting my sister in West Hampstead, she took me to her "local", The Alliance. Wow. While Seattle has great food, it's usually not in the local pub - the folks in this neighborhood are VERY LUCKY!The atmosphere inside the pub is cozy and welcoming. Even if you've never been there before you feel instantly at ease with the owner behind the bar and the comfortable sofas & chairs. There is a very wide range of alcohol available (cider and mulled wine to Guinness and such). However, the real surprise is the quality and range of food.The first night we were there we ordered the cured meat/cheese plate, onion rings, olives & bread and a stacked roasted vegetable dish (sister says the owner is vegetarian and as a result always has great offerings in that area as well as traditional meat dishes). Simply put, the meal was outstanding - the meats (mortadella, salami, etc.) were lovely and the onion rings were done to perfection. We had a great Swedish berry hard cider with the food and by the time the vegetable dish arrived, we were completely full. The owner simply wrapped it up on the plate (presentation was gorgeous and he didn't want to wreck it) and gave it to us to take home saying we could return the plate next time we were in. We had it for breakfast the next morning and it was fabulous.The next visit we again ordered the meat/cheese plate and a hamburger. Sister says most hamburgers in London have been pretty suspect taste-wise compared with "American" versions, but this was very close to home-style. The meat plate was presented slightly differently (still great) and butter was served with the bread (having been in Portugal the week before where you were charged per butter pat, this was rather nice). Specials included Guinness & beef pie among other hearty things if you were so inclined.I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood here in Seattle - the service was great and the prices were very reasonable for London (10 pounds for the large meat plate and about the same for the burger). I would encourage you to check this place out if you are nearby; it's close to the Jubilee line tube station and only a few blocks from the main commercial district in the neighborhood. They also allow well-behaved dogs inside and there are several regulars who were fun to talk to. Overall, a very friendly place with great service and food.

A great welcome from landlord, great service and a Sunday lunch roast beef and all the trimmings, just a great local place to enjoy, plus happy for you to take dog in. It does exactly what it says on the menus and great value for all

Food always excellent, the chef really hits the spot. Great menu selection from breakfast to dinner.Sunday roasts are immense, I'd say one of the best in North London from my experience.Great selection of ales and wine.The most popular sports are on the TV, but not at all overbearing if you don't want to watch or hear it.

I've been staying near the alliance so obviously this was my choice for a local. I was surprised to find about their rich menu (breakfast, lunch & dinner) they serve a brilliant pint of Guinness and carry a large variety of alcohol.Pay a visit to the alliance, you won't regret it.

great roast, good sized portions, buzzy atmosphere, friendly service, pleasant all round. Came first time in January and been back early march...will do it again soon. Love this pub which has all the vital ingredients of a great local.
