Great selection of ales, well some of the, err more creative ones can be a bit hit or mis. But you'll never know until you try them. For me, that's half the fun, and sometimes you will find an absolute blinder (in both interpretations of the word) it's a very chill place and great outside in the sun.

Great town centre pub. Ever changing & extensive collection of well kept real ales & ciders from around the country. Travelled from Bristol only to find Joy Of Sesh from New Bristol Brewery on tap - could've saved the train fare!!! Friendly & vibrant. Locals as eclectic & interesting as the choice of beers! Small front bar, followed by warren of wooden snugs of diminishing size. Some only big enough for a lover's tryst or game of chess... Functional "facilities" are the pub's only down side. All only 5 minutes from the station

Still the place to be in Reading, for decent real ale, foreign bottles, cider and a particular crowd. This visit, between 4pm and 7pm Friday, was no exception. Always worth a visit. Price wise is, as you'd expect these days. 👌🍺✔️🎱🇬🇧💯

How can you not fall in love with this place? I was nestled in a wooden throne (or rather a repurposed church pew) with a decadent Belgian beer that was pulled out from a Mary Poppins-esque bar where somehow they fit an almighty plethora of Belgian bottles in a few little fridges. Unassuming on the outside and placed in the city centre, this is my favourite watering hole in Reading! Discover the wooden burrows of seats and soak it up because you’ll want to stay for more than one. Bonus points for patrons with adorable dogs.

I ordered a pint here and was disappointed by the quality. I drank a mouthful which was sour and lacking in condition. The beer in question was supposed to be a west coast pale ale called space taxi. I made it clear to staff that I was dissatisfied with the quality of the pint saying “I’m going to struggle with drinking that.” I was greeted with being openly laughed at and told “fair enough”. I walked out having paid £5 for something I couldn’t drink.

This pub is not worth attending. So many other good pubs in Reading town centre offering great ales. The clientele are obsessed with smell of urine that they wish to keep the door open to the toilets. Great vibe in an olde world style. They do 3 varieties of picked egg (!!!) and perhaps too many ales. Mine didn't keep its head as is often the case when many ales are on offer. Take a look around you and order whatever is popular as it will be of a better standard due to the turn around. Plenty of boxed (probably dangerous) cider. If you're from the Midlands where the ale is top notch it may not come up to scratch but the bartending is great as is the ambient music choice - mostly 70s classics, it makes you want this place to have a pool table. Toilets beyond basic just like in the old days. Old ale badges to gawp at everywhere. Reading would be worse off without this place. On the small side but ideal for a stop off. 2 tables on street for outdoor imbibing.

The most awe inspiring pub I've ever been to. Never a dull moment as there's always someone up for having a chirp. Beer selection of beer is always surprising snd entertaining, always some from local breweries on offer - also plenty of humourously named real ales. You can tell they've been doing it for years. So many pubs have a timid, tepid selection of beer but these guys love to play around with some fun ones you've never heard of before. Whitesnake is almost guaranteed to be playing over the speakers at some point during your visit.

I have been here twice now, and the food is consistently tasty and enjoyable. The only issue is that on my last visit, we were sadly seated upstairs, which was tiny and pokey. There are too many tables too close to one another which made my meal and experience non-enjoyable.
