London St Brasserie in Reading

Whilst visiting family in Reading we went to the London Street Brasserie and had the most wonderful Sunday Roast. Jason and the service team were engaging and attentive and the food lived up to expectation. And the fudge is a must have 😊. We highly recommend it.

I went there because I was very curious about the flavors of the food after reading the comments. The portions were big and delicious. The butter and sourdough bread, lobster and meat we ordered as main course were great. I added a place to my list that I will go again.

Food was average. 2 people in our party got food poisoning.

Sacha was an efficient host who was on-the-ball and aware of her surroundings. She was aware of wine pairings of food when asked, and was a ballast to her team. Gastro-level food with excellent dining.

This was a chance lunchtime find, as we don't often visit Reading. Delicious.

Modern British cuisine with global touches and ingredients is served at this chic restaurant in Reading. Two dining areas: one informal pub style and another one elegant-dark modern room. All the dishes are expertly executed. We particularly enjoyed the duck starter and the pork belly, which had an outstanding flavour and incredibly crispy skin. Large selection of drinks and appropriate wine list. The only improvement point is part of the service, although attentive and polite, clearly not professional.

Valentines lunch, was exceptional. Service was attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. The home cured gravadlax was outstanding. Beer battered cod was fresh and batter was crisp and thin. Overall we were delighted with our choice of restaurant. We will return soon.

the food was delicious, every plate came out looking and tasting good! our waitress maria was so lovely and attentive, always there when i needed a drink, maria you are amazing !! the only reason i give a 4 star for atmosphere was because of the tables squished together by the kitchen where we were, not too close to other tables but honestly? i don’t mind not a problem thank you for our valentines meal for me and my bestie, we had the best night xx

Absolutely insane quality food. Every course was delicious. Highly recommend the Spiced Rum Daiquiri cocktail. The Salt & Pepper Squid, Scallops cooked to perfection. Atmosphere was great, lovely mood lit venue. Very good service. Would recommend anyone to come atleast once! We will be returning

Very welcoming team, nice atmosphere with lots of full tables even though it was a Weds lunchtime. The lunch set menu had plenty of variety- my friend had haggis to start, I had the delicious gravlax and we both had an enormous plateful of osso buco which was tender and very tasty. We opted for a bottle of the Baussac which was recommended on the menu and enjoyed it very much. Just the right amount of attention from the team throughout. We had a really lovely time - great food, very nice surroundings, we will be back! Highly recommended.

I stopped going to LSB several years ago when they changed their offering to quantity rather than quality presumably to compete with the plethora of other restaurants in Reading centre. Having visited for the first time in a while this weekend past I can say that I was amazed by the quality of the food. Back to the good old days! Well done guys, I'll be back soon

An absolutely fantastic best dining experience, quality of service and food melting in the mouth, it deserves a proper recognition from critics. And great view where we were sitting upstairs as well, impeccable manners of the personnel, brilliant choice of wine. Highly recommend, just keep in mind great service comes with deserved price, but absolutely worth it. Thank you!

A place with a lovely ambiance. We were offered a table in a secluded corner which allowed us to enjoy each other’s and our son’s company to the fullest. Food was amazing and waitresses were so kind and approachable. I wasn’t surprised to find out they got a Michelin star. Well-deserved, keep it up 👍🏻

Excellent restaurant with a brilliant menu. Caters smoothly and discreetly for all dietary requirements (including vegan and gluten free). Staff very professional. Only knocked a star off for atmosphere as it was so loud upstairs when full that we couldn't hear each other - needs some acoustic attenuation / treatment, which is an easy fix!

Top notch food, great service. Have to say, it is noisy when full of people. Nothing can be done as it is a compact space but must say it.

First time eating here and we will definitely be back. Scallop starter was delicious. Really balanced the flavours, despite the quantity of chorizo, I could still taste scallop. The sea bass was lovely but the absolute STAR for me, was the octopus tentacle. My gosh it was beautiful. Would happily have eaten an entire plate of just that. Overall really delicious, good portion sizes and good atmosphere.

A nice place with very good food and service. The dessert was homemade, and because of that, I waited a little, but the wait was worth it. I should have ordered two..:)))

I had the beer battered cod cheeks, duck, and pistachio cheesecake. The cod cheeks were excellent but unfortunately the rest of the meal was very below par for the cost. The sauce with the duck tasted burnt and the cheesecake didn't taste like pistachio at all (macarons were very good though). It's not worth the price they charge, which isn't insane but you'll get a better meal anywhere along the river for nearly half the cost. The wait staff are excellent and the ambience good, just a shame the chefs aren't up to the price point.

Lived near Reading for 25 years and only just visited here. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was lovely. Their set menu is a great price. The place feels really chilled

Quite pricy upmarket gastro pub/restaurant. We booked for 7pm and service was long, but if you're not in a hurry.....

A few months ago two of my party had a very poor monkfish dish here and despite being my go-to eatery for 20 years I was nervous to return. I can safely say that the LSB is back to its best and the monkfish as well as all of our food was delicious and the staff attentive especially TK. We will definitely retiring again soon

we were 6 people and we all enjoyed the meal as it happened we were not in a hurry but the only fly in the ointment was I thought the service was a bit slow mind you I suppose that to produce food of the high standard that it was would take time.yes I would recommend the brasserie

While the food, service and atmosphere were great, I was almost scammed out of £20 as someone "forgot to apply the discount" for the set meal. If you get the set meal, make sure you are charged appropriately.

Highly highly recommended, was with a client for a meal (his favourite spot). I can see why!

Very very good large menu with just about every thing on it

Hadn’t been in years but so glad to have visited again yesterday. Delicious food, nice and cosy atmosphere, and super friendly staff. Rosie I believe was the waitress serving our table, and we had a nice brief chat about our pets. Then when she found out it was my wife’s birthday, she offered us a box of fudge for free!

Food was amazing. Even though the prices are a bit high, you’ll get a great food and service. For those who have birthday, they’ll surprise you with a small cake and candle, that was a pleasure and brought additional smile

I would like to thank the staff for making my wife's special birthday a wonderful occasion on the 1st September. We had a party of 22 and every person thought the food and the service was fantastic. Between us we had lots of different options and they were all cooked to perfection and the presentation and service was out of this world. Special thanks to Andrea who looked after us all afternoon. Service with a smile throughout and making sure my wife had the best birthday. We will be back and we highly recommend.

Lovely looking place, service was fine nothing to complain about, though after spending £115 quid on a meal with just 2 main and 3 drinks, for the 2 of us, for the food to be this bad was not good. Both meals where over cooked the venison was supposed to be rare yet it was just not and the chicken was just rubber, drinks where fine tho expensive at £7 for a beer which add service would make it like £8. Tbh if the food was better and more of it l, i wouldnt complain but anyway wouldnt come again. Just disappointed.

Went there and had the lunchtime menu. Food was ok but nothing special. For 2 meals and 1 drink each it cost £81! Far too expensive for what it was. We went to the Bull @Bisham near Marlow, about the same price but no comparison in terms of quality, service and value. A couple of days ago we went to Weather spoons, got 2 meals with drinks and then a bottle of good wine for less than the full price of the Brasserie fish and chips! And the 'spoons fish was much better.

Just my favourite place in the world. They always have the nicest staff the most welcoming and warm ambience and the most delicious food served in more than generous portions. You would expect from the quality of the food that the prices would be Ludacris, but no, it is very reasonable, and actually cheaper than a lot of other places in Reading that are far far off the quality of LSB. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone in or around the Reading area.

Everything was excellent. We came for a Sunday roast, I love roasts and this is easily on my top 3 that I've had. I was expecting it to be a little pricey, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Great value for top quality food and service, we will be back for dinner soon!

My mother in law is vegan and she was so impressed with the quality of the food and standard of vegan options! Highly recommend!!

Loved our visit to London Street Brasserie. When were seated I was immediately presented w gluten free options without having to ask (it was noted in our reservation). The options were ample and we lived every dish. The sift shelled crab and monkfish were outstanding. Jose and Maria were our servers and were excellent, providing good wine and food advice. Nice atmosphere right on the river. Thank you for the lovely evening. We will be back.

Lovely atmosphere, great location on the river. I have been 3 times over 7 years and every time the food is of highest quality and totally delicious. Very high quality ingredients and cooking, great service and overall just a lovely restaurant. Desserts all sound amazing

On my way to a lunch bowl of ramen, I spotted a menu which hooked me right away with the words ‘Cornish Cuttlefish’ I was in the mood for some calves liver too so popped in and was seated right away on a lovely patio balcony overlooking the river. The salad did not disappoint, not chewy seafood, citrusy watercress & green beans with diced fresh pineapple and some excellent tomatoes. The liver dish was absolutely perfectly cooked, the bacon and roast shallots in a pool of excellent demi which I scraped up with my fork to avoid licking the plate! I left the random pea shoots and wished for more chopped parsley. Nice lemon tart & espresso to finish. Definitely coming back! UPDATE: came back and had another wonderful experience! Servers José & Maria really made our visit. Food descriptions on photos, really nice South African Stellenbosch Albariño, outstanding gluten free fresh soft-shell crab tempura, but the Parma ham-wrapped monkfish was so flavourful and perfectly cooked. This place knows its stuff. £130 with drinks & service.

One of favourite places to dine in Reading. As far as dining in the town centre goes, it’s the best by a mile. Great food, great atmosphere, and friendly professional staff. We’ve eaten here many times over the years, and we highly recommend.

What a great find! We went for a mid week lunch and had a delightful experience. The food was delicious, the cocktails fab (I recommend the Black Cow dessert cocktail), and the service from Harriet was perfect. We'll definitely be going again. 5 *:)

The service was lovely but the food was over-priced and badly cooked and if it hadn't been my friend's birthday I would've complained.

First off, some of the best food I had in England and the only place that was featuring local product like Berkshire venison. Also the most expensive, though the portions are enormous. I am a larger person who likes to eat and there was so much in the £33 venison plate that I simply couldn't finish it and elected to skip dessert. I wish the service had lived up to the cost and food; in the middle of my first course I wanted a glass of Champagne after an uninteresting English sparkling wine and no one came by for 20 minutes. I don't mind a slow meal, in fact I relish it, but I do want to see someone occasionally. The next time someone came by they had already fired my main. The wine list is extremely well chosen, with a variety of European wines that complement the food extremely well. Glasses should be crystal for the cost but they're not bad. For a "brasserie" they only had one beer on tap but it was Rebellion, quite good. Surroundings are airy and elegant, good view of the River Kennet.

This is a very good place. The location is nice, especially in a sunny day when you can get a table next to the river. The service was very polite. The food and drinks were tasteful and promptly served. It was definitely worth the money.

We had a company outing to this restaurant, and apparently for parties of 7 or more you had to order ahead and from a set/tasting menu. Turns out this wasn't true. We had a friendly, maybe overly friendly, waitress who loved to talk about cats and tattoos. We got our food relatively quickly and the appetizers were absolutely delicious. I had some sort of white fish sashimi and raw oysters. The oysters were fat and fresh and already separated from the shell. Add a bit of the vinegar and Tabasco they have on the side and I was in heaven. It's funny how I twister asked others if they wanted to have oysters and nobody wanted any, then when they came out, everyone was eating my order. Felt like Joey from Friends. For the main course, I had the surf and turf. The surf were 3 pieces of scallop, and the steak was a nicely cooked filet. The side of fries were very very good, my burnt palate would agree they were fresh and newly fried. If you get a chance to swap them for the thick cuts, do it. Dessert was a choice of chocolate dishes or a cheese platter. They did not serve vanilla ice cream with any of the desserts. It was creme freshe instead, and it tasted like sour cream to me. Nasty. So I rated the atmosphere a bit low because the place felt cramped upstairs. There's a really cute balcony that overlooks a canal/river that runs through the Oracle waterfront. Having 2 large parties in the same room ended up being a shouting competition to get your conversations across. I felt bad for our neighboring diners; we were loud and obnoxious. I'd definitely go back in smaller parties and also order from the regular a la carte menu though. I'd still recommend you try this place out though.

Great food, good service, lovely decor and old building, but somehow feels like it's missing something to be truly amazing ... the whole here is somehow less than the parts and I cannot say why !

Fantastic venue overlooking the canal. The outside of the building hides a modern tasteful interior where the staff are great and the food outstanding.

My parents and I recently visited London Brasserie in Reading for a delightful Sunday roast, and our experience left us thoroughly impressed. Situated centrally, the restaurant boasts a prime location by the river, offering two floors of cozy dining space as well as outdoor seating. Opting for the fixed menu priced at just £29 excluding drinks, we were treated to a culinary journey with a variety of starters, including mussels, haggis, and chicken wings with honey. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, with the haggis standing out as a surprising favorite. For the main course, we indulged in two servings of pork roast and one of roast beef. The pork was impeccably cooked, tender and juicy with perfectly crispy crackling, while the beef, although slightly firmer, was complemented wonderfully by the rich gravy and sauce. Accompanied by a medley of roast vegetables, including potatoes, turnips, carrots, and cauliflower, every element of the meal was a perfect pairing. The staff at London Brasserie were incredibly welcoming and attentive, always on hand to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. With the total bill coming to £131 for the food and three beers, we found the price to be reasonable considering the prime location, quality of food, and overall experience. London Brasserie in Reading certainly exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to returning.

the place reminds me of Jack Daniels Single Barrell, very nice, but it is a gamble if you are going to get good one, but if you get it is well spent money, That's the best cooked meat I've had in Reading and in fact they are the only one that know how to, but for some reason refuse to :) 5.02.2024 will be a day I would probably never forget, like the day I joined the army. Edit: now the new thing Heart & Soul (or something like that) - great idea, average execution...no idea what is that yogurt for (this is an insult to the actual yogurt btw, but even proper balkan yogurt has no place in that dish). Parsley great...but why soak it with vinegar and make something like half taboulleh..either put 100% taboulleh ( which will be actualy gerat) or dont.And last minor insignificant remark, if you do not have proper tool for the butter of the gods, at least serve with a some desert spoon. A delightful celebration at the London Street Brasserie We recently visited the London Street Brasserie in Reading to celebrate my mother's exciting new job at the Jersey Zoo. We arrived ten minutes early, but this wasn't an issue at all. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, immediately setting the tone for a wonderful evening. To start, I indulged in the scallops, which were cooked to perfection. The flavors were delicate and perfectly balanced. For my main course, I opted for the very rare fillet steak, served with parmesan and truffle chips. The steak was cooked exactly as requested, juicy and tender on the inside with a beautifully seared crust. The truffle chips were a decadent addition, adding a touch of luxury to the dish. My partner enjoyed the chicken escalopes, which she described as flavorful and well-prepared. My mother also opted for the fillet steak, this time accompanied by roasted new potatoes. She was equally impressed with the quality and taste of her meal. The entire experience at the London Street Brasserie was exceptional. The staff were attentive and professional, ensuring our every need was met. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was truly delicious. It was the perfect setting to celebrate a special occasion, and we all left feeling happy and satisfied. I highly recommend the London Street Brasserie to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Reading. Straight up legit. Does what it says on the tin, there’s a reason this place is always up there. Venison banged, satay skewers were lovely and the atmosphere was delightful.

An absolute gastronomic treat! My husband and I had lunch here for the first time on a short visit to Reading and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The setting by the river is charming, the decor is very elegant, the staff very welcoming and friendly. The food was unbelievable delicious! One of our best meals out ever!
