I rate the restaurant, but its service and food are very bad. I do not advise anyone to go there and I did not treat them.

Good, very good. Especially the cocktails.

A cocktail bar with bad cocktails. Ordered a piña colada, and it was really bad. The worse cocktail I’ve had! They definitely don’t know how to make a good cocktail. Too many appearance and low quality. Food was average. Atmosphere too noisy. Music was too loud that we couldn’t hear each other’s voices. The staff was nice and kind though. I do not recommend.

Absolutely fabulous place!! One would think it's just an ordinary bar!!! It's so much more!!! They offer cocktails which look like from Harry Potter movie: some catch fire, some have smoke filled bubbles, some have cards which burn and disappear forever. Plus they offer nice nibbles too. I really recommend the mushrooms btw. Me and my partner absolutely loved this place. Our main server was young man with blonde hair and he was so friendly and with a great sense of humour!!! He ganged up with my partner against me, to make fun of me (it was all a joke and I loved it). Thank you for a nice experience. I must say all the staff are lovely and the place has a magical feeling.

This is an awful place to visit, the music was overpowering it was impossible to hear each other talk, the “greeter” was offhand, we were literally driven out by the excessively loud music.

Went for dinner on a Monday evening, it wasn’t too busy. The service was good and the food came very quickly. I would recommend.

Came hoping for some food after a theatre show, our waiter Curtis was so helpful and go is sorted! What a great atmosphere and so friendly!

I had an utterly delicious meal here today, at lunchtime. However, what made it exceptional was the brilliant service from the lovely Curtis, who was so good at ensuring I could eat everything (I have food intolerances due to disability). He was fabulous! The only reason I put 4 ⭐for atmosphere was because the toilets were too dark. But definitely 4.9 stars out of 5 from me! Thank you so much!

Great vibe and experiences. However the music was loud making it difficult to talk even sitting right next to each other. Been to the same brand and other branches seem to manage the volume better.

Popped in for a cheeky cocktail before heading home to Wiltshire, service and drinks were so good we stayed for another. Loved the decor and the feel of the place. Will 💯 be going back when in the area

Nice little cocktail bar, very busy so limited seating but good Dj and music, just slightly dark but all in all had a good time here

We left as the staff were more interested in chatting and generally just taking too long to serve people, so not a good experience.

Truly disappointed today. Been to Alchemist in Manchasrer and Canary Wharf. Had amazing experience and today I brought my brother to have a same experience. From the moment we walked in, the vibe of the place was off. No-one came to speak woth us for 20 min and when they did Apart from rudeness we got nothing . We left in the end!!! If it was busy I would understand the delays and staff's rudeness because they are tired and busy. But it was practically empty. Truly Disappointing!!!! The staff needs better training for sure,

We walked in at about 5.30pm for dinner with my daughter who is over 18, we were stopped straightaway by a bouncer who was incredibly rude and asked us lots of questions, we basically got the 3rd degree, like we were entering a nightclub. We were dressed smartly and explained we were just there for dinner, he then asked my daughter for ID and was very direct and then told us off for bringing her there without her ID ?? I was under the impression after reading your FAQs that children are welcome with an adult before 8pm, so why was he asking for ID if he thought she was under age? Correct me if I’m wrong. It wasn’t a nice experience, we felt intimidated so we left. I have visited this particular venue before and it wasn’t like this. I totally understand the importance of requesting ID but with parents at 5.30pm is it really necessary. I thought it was important to make you aware as you lost our business.

The cocktails were very fancy and quite tasty, the ambience was nice, the music was a little bit too loud to talk but overall atmosphere was great

It was alright for a first experience although the music was a little deafening initially, so we couldn't talk very easily and everyone else was also shouting to hear each other but when it got a little later, the music got a little quieter and the atmosphere became enjoyable! Very nice and the drinks were good.

Visited on Saturday for dinner and drinks and right from the start we had a wonderful welcome from the delightful Karolina and the on-going service at the table from Curtis was very good, which made it a very enjoyable evening. Arrived on time for reservation and our large group were kept waiting for half an hour to be brought to our table. There was a clear lack of communication and chaos amongst staff and bartenders. We had to keep asking for an update and were met with attitude even though we had paid a high deposit and had arrived on time. We were told to wait by the bar. Some attempted to get a drink and it took a long time as the bartenders couldn't hear eachother. Toilets were unclean and had a terrible smell. We then were finally brought to the table by a staff member and got a brief apology and they offered to extend the time of our reservation by 20 mins which they thought was suitable hospitality??? Due to the situation, some of our party at this point were no longer happy to buy a meal and only ordered drinks. We also were given a limited "soiree menu" which wasn't the same menu as the st martins lane alchemist online said was available. Not much choice and no one particularly enjoyed their food. The staff member who served our table with food and drink was very friendly and welcoming. The woman with blonde hair that showed us to our table was cold, rude and dismissive. I would strongly advise that your staff recieve further hospitality training. Making a large group wait for 30 mins for a reserved table in London is unacceptable and the excuses provided were also unacceptable. Also, if you had attached your soiree menu to the booking enquiry or confirmation, we could have made the choice to eat elsewhere and make a reservation for drinks. But there is nowhere throughout the booking process that gives you that information. The soiree menu is awful and the only option our group was given by staff was to have that or something from the nibbles menu. No other meal options. If this is something that is in place for large groups only, again you are hugely lacking in clarity and it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. I have visited other alchemist locations in london and have had a great experience. But I do not believe that it is worth going to the Alchemist after this experience. Disgusted.

Great drinks and some cozy food. Wish the music was a bit lower so I could actually hear my friends and the staff when they speak to us!

I have been dreaming about the food sooooo yummy. Drinks are a lot of fun and we fell out of the place! Lovely waitress who had great patience and helped us make our drink choices.

The Alchemist was a fantastic choice for a night out with friends! We were a group of four and opted for two sharing platters, which turned out to be a great decision. The food was top-notch, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere had a classy vibe. I'd highly recommend this spot not just for the food but especially for the drinks!

Visited for a friends birthday recently - great atmosphere and a great idea for a group of people with good cocktails (even somewhat overpriced) Our server was Curtis - miserable and no focus on service - no interaction and just generally wasn't interested or didn't smile. Overall the experience was good but I would not go back based purely on the service.

Booked a table for 3 pm but we were in the area so asked if we could be seated any earlier. They accommodated this which was great. Drinks went down really well and the theatre was brilliant, bubbles, smoke and lots of bubbling. Then came the food, it was delicious. I have a nut allergy and they were really helpful with menu choices. Excellent time, will definitely be back.

Great atmosphere! The food was delicious and the cocktails tasted amazing. The cocktails all had an interactive component as well which was a nice touch. Would recommend the alchemist sharing platter.

Got the Mad Hatter - portion was quite small for the price and half the drink came out warm?! I think something went wrong in the chemistry of it all… Good atmosphere and really fantastic service.

5 stars for drink creativity but dropped overall score to 4 stars bc of food. Cauliflower starter was great as was the crispy mushrooms (though a bit salty). I got the chicken in the basket and it was supposed to be crispy. It was not. The truffle tater tota - would suggest doing sauce on the side as the sauce was a lot and made the total soggy. My friend had the duck pancakes which were a bit too salty. Definitely a great vibe. If you’re there for dinner don’t expect to hear your conversation though.

Booked here for midweek boys lunch, food and wine was first class, service was exemplary it was a bit low on atmosphere as restaurant was short on patrons.

What a brilliant.... curtis our personal cocktail assistant was literally the best; Brilliant night all around

I visited this place yesterday, and even though I've had it as a favorite for a long time, I was disappointed. The music and vibes were great, but the cocktails were too fancy and didn't taste very good - they were either average or too sweet. The hygiene standards need a lot of improvement - the bar table, glasses, and the entire floor were really sticky. I also noticed that the bartenders touched many objects and even grabbed a big ice ball with their bare hands instead of using tongs, which was very shocking to me. The price is not worth what I paid.

Very disorganised staff,despite 4 staff on duty unable to deliver the order and mixed it up,after they gave us the wrong bill. Disappointed as we love the Alchemist restaurants and we went there specifically.So lol...we have decided to cut it short..our stay...hence not spent a lot of money this time.

Incredible cocktails that amaze you 🤗 We had a cheese burger and faritas, a real delight! For dessert, cookies and brownies are equally delicious. Hearty, beautiful and good meal. Top service with attentive, smiling waiters. They bring the water themselves which is very appreciated! The industrial chic and very nice atmosphere. The only downside is that the music is a little loud. Great discovery, I recommend.

We had the Brulee Vous and The Egg cocktails, both are poorly made and undrinkable, we left.

The music was quite loud when we arrived at 4.30pm and the atmosphere only got louder, as expected on a Saturday night. This did however affect the ordering of food and drinks, having to repeat ourselves, and also some orders getting missed, even after checking. The drinks were delightful and quirky. The food was good.

The place has a very good vibe, we stayed at the bar and the bartenders treated us excellently, the drinks were impressive and the DJ was great.

Amazing theatrical cocktails are served here, from smoking cocktails to fire cocktails, definitely will be back. The staff were so hospitable and the bartenders keen on helping me through the menu and recommended me delicious cocktails.

Don't bother. No space without booking and if u got booking, never gonna be on time and u'll be given 1 hour to eat and drink and then u'll ve kicked out, because apparently they're busy on Saturdays. Nobody cares if u are busy. U meant to be creating customer experience, not turning people into figures. Absolutely awful experience, no manners at all. Completely ruined evening and money wasted.

Our booking been delayed and we’ve been given literally 1 hour to have food and drinks and then we’ve been asked to leave. When complained about our table was delayed, waitress said he’ll check with his mgr, came back after few min, told us we have to leave. Rude, not professional and super disrespectful. Good location close to leicester sq. we didn’t need to book. Vibrant busy and there is an atmosphere. we had dinner but this place is good for drinks too. it’s got loud music and i had a good time.

Booked table for 17.45pm. Been told our table ain't ready, so we had couple of drinks at the bar, standing. After 20 min, we still didn't had table. When we finally sad down in the restaurant, was 18.25pm. Waited 15 min to take our order, had to speed up our food, and then we've been asked to leave at 19.30pm. So, firstly, it is not ok to treat paying guests as a number. Secondly, sort out your booking system, because this is clearly not working. Thirdly, this was the most disappointing and dissatisfied experience in my entire life. Why u asking for a reason of the booking?! We meant to had nice anniversary date, but we've been kicked out after 1 hour, so why to pretend u care about what people coming for, your guests are just money figure... Never again.

Cool place to checkout as a tourist!

40 minute wait at bar even though no queue. Ordered French kiss x2 - £30 and basically a single shot of vodka with shed loads of sugar and cream. Place for tourists and dates that don't know any wiser. Avoid.

Ok cocktail, nothing fancy. Flavor is important to me. Ambience could also be improved.

A great place if you want to have shots and dance, but terrible if you're going to expect a good cocktail. Shame, since the company claims to have "alchemists" behind the bar. No classic cocktail knowledge from anyone, even the one who takes the paycheck to be head bartender. Not a clue what Vieux Carré, Southside or even something so ridiculously simple as a Bee's Knees. Furthermore, even the basics of making a cocktail were ignored. Stirred drinks must ALWAYS be measured, it doesn't matter how amazing a person thinks they are with freepour, that is a cardinal sin. Or even the simplest thing, when a guest sits at the bar, they should always have a cold glass of water to accompany their booze. We expected better from the site which makes the most revenue. If revealing a drink with liquid nitrogen makes one an alchemist, I suppose anyone can to Hogwarts!

My drink was basically a show in itself. And the staff was very attentive and informative because some of these drinks are wild.

It used to be a great place a few years ago, but this time I was a little disappointed, mostly with the service. The staff behaved like they didn’t care you were there and it took a while every time to get their attention (to order food or drinks) and get serviced. The cocktails are great and the food is good, however not the same anymore.

3/5/2024 We waited a good while to be served while sitting at the bar, we ordered two whisky sours which were made in a BLENDER!!!! which is not the way to make these cocktails!!! We couldn’t taste the whisky?!!! & the levels of the lemon & sugar & egg white were not very well balanced?!!! The waiter made them so quickly that there was no care & we thought the ALCHEMIST is supposed to be a very good cocktail bar?! & to add insult to injury, after pouring our drink out there was a good amount left in the blender which the barman proceeded to pour down the sink which felt like an insult especially when one is paying £13 -£15 each. one pays for the hand crafted taste & looks , it looked terrible & tasted terrible rather than a well balanced good quality drink. it was ridiculously foamy which coupled with too much ice which made it difficult to drink and to get to the whisky sour so by the time you drank through the ice & foam the drink tasted watery! We suggest someone from the Alchemist tries a whisky sour at Goodmans in Maddox St. it was appalling to taste & see. We ordered crispy shrooms & prawns which were great. Overall we felt insulted & ripped off…

Gimmicky. Drinks came out 15 mins apart and others arriving us were served first. Wasn’t busy. Didn’t even get the fire show in front of me for my drink. Drinks were lack luster. Sometimes the theatrics don’t do favors for the drinks themselves.

Amazing! They drink option were great, were creative, were original, innovative. We only visited the bar. But the snack were good. We both had two cocktails each and they were amazing, with visual effects. And is really nice that you can watch them at work.

Worth a try but not some where I would return to at busy times. Generally a large cocktail bar with a some beers. We had a lunch time set price 3 drinks option that came with one plate of food and three drinks for £30 that you select from a small options menu or you could of had the main menu. We selected the lunch set menu for ease in a party of 10. Food was ok but nothing great and the cocktails were interesting . Worth trying once but can get busy and loud. No parking but easy access via underground at Leicester Square.

Yesterday after a very rough day me and my friend went to the alchemist to have some drinks, we usually go there but yesterday was the best day! The drinks were amazing as usual, but the music made total difference! The DJ was amazing, I couldn't stop myself to go to him and tell him how great was his work! I really hope go there again and have such an amazing music as yesterday!

If you hate your job as a bartender , find something else to do? We came in with a group of 6. Order at the bar and was met with a sigh and the remark ‘don’t think that we will come bring the drinks’. The strawberry blond guy with man bun said. Ok. He made the drinks and put them on the bar. All ‘theatre’ was long gone when we got the drinks. Guy was borderline aggressive when we ordered an additional drink and barked that he needed payment NOW. I brought the drink to my friend at the table, came back to pay with card and then he made us stand there and wait till he did his thing as slow as possible while maintaining eye contact with me. He was so passively agressive, not ok. Ruined the experience for us.

Great range of theatrical drinks, mixologist curated each one beautifully and with a little sass too. DJ was pretty good and we had a good time all round

What a great way to enjoy cocktails! We got a few cocktails that science stuff related to it and the process while they were making them was mesmerizing! It’s definitely a great place to go to with friends or on a date. The mixologists at the bar make the atmosphere super fun, and I would highly recommend trying to find a spot to sit with a view of the bar.

We didn't eat here, only came for drinks so cannot comment on the food. The cocktails were lovely and relatively good value considering London prices and the theatre that comes alongside them! Having said that it took a long time to get out drinks since there was only one bar man serving drinks which took a while. Our friends at the bar said he was fantastic but it seemed a long time before the drinks made it to the table

I have been many times and to different Alchemists and they are all great. Each Alchemist has a really unique design to it and it really is designed as a laboratory where bartenders can get to make their amazing drinks. The looks and the taste of the drinks is unique and cool. Some of them come with an amszing show where you can see how they make it before you get to drink it. There are many drink choices and the staff is well trained to provide amazing suggestions in case you feel like ypu want to tey somethong new. Their playlist is quite modern and it isn't as loud and some cocktail bars are. The place is very organised, clean and looks luxurious even though it isn't crazy expensive. 29/03/2024 - Here I am once again and The Alchemist at Leicester Square is still great and has amazing vibes. This day Berenice served us and we loved her. She was professional, friendly, cool and unique. She joked with us a couple of times and her drinks recommendations were on point. This Alchemist remains as my most favourite one.

Not a great experience for the price..

Went out with friends to celebrate my 50th birthday. Having had a great time at the alchemist a few years back I suggested we popped in for a few cocktails. The staff were all working very hard and still happy to entertain and speak with customer. This is what we had come for. THEN, I believe his name is Zack made an appearance! Well what a mood changer he is!! We were now back to order a second round looking forward to having the same experience and the first, sadly this was not going to be the case. A lady took our order to which he quick told her no and told her to do something else. So we waiting patiently excepting that they were busy. Then another member of staff took our order and again he was told to stop and told to do something else. Whilst bossing all the bar staff around, who I may add had been doing just fine till he showed up, the experience and the serve then went to pot. So again we waited patiently again. After a long wait I ask Zack who would be serving now and with extreme sarcasm and inconvenience all over his face he took our order. He then proceeded to make our drink at rapid speed to then say, was that quick enough for you! This theme then continued, with lots of let’s say, not so customer friendly body language, comments and attitude! The grand finale was we caught eye contact when he was leaning up against the bar doing little to then blow a patronising kiss. I am so sorry, I have worked in customer service all my life! You have lots of competition being based in London, in very difficult time for the hospitality industry. Why on earth would you have someone like that working in the front line of your business?? The staff looked uncomfortable, he’s customer service to me was in front of a very busy bar of people and I also asked if he was the manager to be told no he wasn’t! What a dampener for my celebration I won’t be recommending the Alchemist

Great! Staff were very friendly and I'd really recommend the Katsu curry. We got there about 12pm but I think you'd potentially need to book a table to avoid disappointment, I think it may get busy.

I visited this bar many times and it has always been a treat! The ambiance is amazing, the location is very good as well. The drinks are original and the food is tasty. Overall a 10/10 experience each time! However, just note that there are pickpockets that can enter the bar , so be careful with your belongings (especially electronics) and be aware of your surrounding . This is in no way the establishment's fault, but due to the location it is inevitable so please be aware of that!

If you like creative cocktails, this is the place. Mixologist Tom was great, and the atmosphere in the bar is lively yet cozy. This place pops up on all London recs for good reason!

Don't bother without booking. We've been waiting for 2 drinks 45 minutes, standing in crazy crowd, while staff behind the bar had great time joking between eachother.

Came at 3-4pm for dinner and was very quiet. Food was amazing and very fast less than 10 mins. Didn’t get the waiters name but he was very helpful and polite. Will definitely come again if I’m in the area.

It is too loud and too dark for dinner! We had to put our phone torches on to order food. The server couldn't make our accents out properly, ended up with the wrong shared starter. It was rectified fast. Then the cocktails arrived, surver was trying to tell us how to drink them, couldn't make him out. Eventually got the message passed down the table. None of our party could have a conversation. Food was delicious, thank you chef's. But we couldn't get out fast enough after eating. I love the vibe and music was great! But not when eating. Perhaps bring it down abit until 9pm then vibe it up. Omg

We went inside with my wife to get a cocktail after standing by the bar for 10 min nobody took care of us so we decided to leave . We can understand that we have to wait if it’s busy but they were 2 bartender just chatting between themselves really bad service

Had a booking and when we arrived our table wasn’t ready, we did not get no sorry nothing… we had to wait 20 or more mins for our table so we decided to order a drink while we wait, it took another 20 mins to get served. When our table was finally ready, a waitress that sat us down, asked us a minute later if we were ready to order (we didn’t even have a chance to look at the menu). The first cocktail was really disappointing it’s the worst cocktail I ever had which is disappointing considering this place is well known for their cocktails. Food: was terrible, I had pub food that tastes much better than the food here. I don’t like to write negative reviews but really feel like I should from a hospitality manager’s perspective this place is not organised and chaotic. Would not recommend.

Bar looks great, new barman made our cocktails so a little patience needed as he was still learning, but produced two very nice drinks (expresso martini and porn star martini). The porn staff came with a spoonful of peach caviar in the glass of prosecco and the expresso martini came with a chocolate spoon full of salted caramel caviar. A nice little touch to the drinks and it was delish. Cocktails are more expensive that some other places (around £10-12) but a nice treat. HOWEVER... don't use the toilets, they are pretty disgusting and I have to say I was very surprised as the bar area looks well kept. This unfortunately is my pet hate when places can't be bothered to keep the toilets spotless. This is the one area that should be kept to a very high standard as people can spread germs and bacteria to a restaurant or bar after using a disgusting toilet facility. Why don't owners get that?

Visited pre theatre. Ordered 2 cocktails which were amazing. We had 2 starters and 2 mains and 2 large glasses of wine. Really nice. Food was huge!

Drinks were exciting, food was really tasty, the shrimps were to die for! Very unique place, definitely worth the visit.

We were served by the wonderful, charismatic.Joe (Joseph). He made us feel welcome and talked us through the menu. What an asset to the company. Thank you Joe!
