An oasis of peace (5/5)set one block away from the maelstrom of OXFORD STREET AND TCR. that's why the atmosphere is deliberately 4.. not a mark down but a 5/5 endorsement of a peaceful environment (on Saturday lunchtime)that buzzes and fizzes early evening onwards. Delightfully engaging landlord serving well kept Yorkshire Ales and bottled fayre. Scotch Eggs and sausage rolls are real ie made not manufactured.

Never judge a book by its cover. We did after a lovely Sunny day walking around Soho, Mayfair, Marylebone and Fitzrovia we decided to end the walk at this lovely looking pub Bricklayers Arms. It had lovely flowers outside and looked like a quiet quaint village pub in the west end, away from the crowds. The treatment we received was absolutely disgusting. Absolutely no service pire attitude and disdain for our presence. No attempt to introduce the different drinks on offer as an independent brewery non of the drinks were familiar. When I asked for some assistance I was told by the grouch of a Barman ‘ it does. It work like that’ I literally had to force the point and EVENTUALLY he have me a fraction of service which assisted me to choose the light lager that I eventually enjoyed. . Throughout the whole exchange he was so hostile to us. How can a pub in the west end be so hostile to visitors who are curious about the wine. We started off so polite but gave it back as good as I got. I then came home and looked at the reviews and have seen so many comments about the racist feel of the service. And this explained everything This pub is a pub for English people only. Even if you are Scottish they have a problem. Avoid this racist xenophobic pub at all costs. Its looks are deceiving.

I wrote this review before I got charged 6.50 for a scotch egg on a plate with nothing else. So I’ve changed it to 1 star. Sam Smiths not a favourite of mine but last year I popped in this one as I was doing the same Xmas crawl area as I’ve done for years. I was happy with my ale this time as last. The only thing is I recorded a £4.80 price which was amazing and under my £5 record for the pubs on my crawl last year. This time I set a £6 price for my reviews. Realistic as prices have gone up. Sure enough it was below the £6 for this year. However it was £5.60 which was a whole 80p more this year and the worst price hike of a brewery I’ve encountered so far which was an average of 50p.. Approximate I know but decisive on my review. Quite awful and killing ale! RIP off! The pub is ok real shame.

Not massively a big fan of Sam Smiths pubs. Mainly because of their small choice of cask ales. This has always been on my crawl list though so was looking forward to coming back. It was my cheapest ale so far and under my good review mark of a fiver at 4.80 a pint. So bonus point there. Was a nice ale. There is two on always but also a few bottles to chose from. Friendly service and a nice pub as a lot of Smiths are. Well done. Only 4 star due to my crawl criteria but a great pub to visit.

🚇 Tottenham Court Road 🍺 £4.60 Double Four ❤️ A gorgeous Georgian Sam Smiths pub. . Tucked away in a quiet side street not far from Tottenham Court Rd you’ll find The Bricklayers Arms. The nearest tube is Tottenham Court Rd and Goodge St is also close by. . This Georgian pub is as pretty as a picture, the timber and brick frontage make this a very inviting pub. . The Bricklayers is a small pub divided in to three areas. At the front of the pub is where the bar is, the bar area has small tables surrounded by stools and sofa benches. The walls are clad is Sam Smiths trademark dark wood panelling. At rear of the bar is another small room which has a dartboard and is decorated in floral wallpaper. Upstairs is a cosy affair, there are winged chairs, sofas and a fireplace to warm ones cockles. . As with all Sam Smiths pubs there beer choice is all in house brews. I usually go for the Double Four lager, it’s is a good session pint and retails at under a fiver. I couldn’t see any evidence of food being available. . The atmosphere was calm on this Saturday afternoon, I sat in the back bar as the front bar was full with tourists, day trippers and a few locals. The back bar is tiny and intimate, I sat close to two American chaps who had an in depth conversation about where they’ve visited around the world. One fella was explaining to his friend about his family tree and that his great great grandfather was an important figure in the American civil war. I was being so nosey and couldn’t help but listen in on their very interesting conversation. . The Bricklayers Arms is one of those pubs that when you look at it you immediately get that urge to go in. It’s a cosy intimate pub full of old world charm and has a lovely ambiance to it. This pub can be a lure for tourists but overall it’s definitely worth a visit. . 📊 Information correct on visiting 28/05/22

Curious place with a lot of charm to visit. It is a cafe in the crypt of the church where they have self-service salty and sweet food at a very good price, as well as a very delicious coffee. Depending on the day there are concerts and events. Highly recommended to make a stop to recover energy next to Trafalgar Square. Be careful, they don't open early (11:00 am approx) and the hours vary a little depending on the week.
