Jess served us for a couple of hours, and she was absolutely incredible! Made us feel so welcome, great recommendations, and just so lovely. The food was divine, cocktails impeccable as always, and just 10/10 experience and service!

Visited for a cocktail masterclass with work colleagues. The cocktails were tasty and the session was fun. The host was lovely, but lacking knowledge in comparison to his colleagues (don’t remember name)

Its a nice place and the smoky old fashioned are lovely but the do a poor Mojito- you need to really bruise the mint and it should reall have just a hint of bitters. Also not boozey enough. Poor recipe. Avoid that one

We went as a hen party of 9 yesterday. Connor was really kind and seated us, and we were served by a range of staff. Service was a bit slow to start with but the cocktails were entertaining and the two people serving us were really kind and explained everything! We were given a lovely table in what felt like a private section. The bar staff were great when we paid the bill! The drinks were a show in themselves and we had a fab time!

Enjoyed our evening. Staff very friendly. Food was pretty average. Probably won’t go again as super expensive. Really shocked with the bill. Nearly £200. Only ordered 2 alcoholic drinks.

The atmospshere and the service was 10/10. We got very good memories with us back to Sweden. Will certainly come back when we visit again.

so I went there asked for a Pina Colada with no alcohol, but with extra coconut I want to be more coconutty, instead I got only taste from pineapple and lime only citric, and he asked for a tip too.... and I forget to mention he charged me extra for the coconut that I could not taste. £12 for a glass of 250mll full of ice. for sure will see me there again when pigs will fly :)

I really enjoyed the colour changing cocktails and the dry ice. However the cheesy doughballs were a very small portion for the price and difficult to bite into.

We didn't eat here but did have some amazing cocktails. If you have an hour before or after a dinner reservation this is a great place to spend it trying the wide range of cocktails they offer. The bartender was excellent, explained each drink & the theatrics behind each one. We tried the lava lamp, dark n smokey, pop notch & brulee vous. All delicious!

Visited 19/04: had a cocktail and some snacks. Didn’t like the dough balls much as the dough was hard on the outside but more “raw”? (I don’t think it was but more wet/see through) on the inside but liked how they were served with syringes of cheese. Love the alchemy vinegar/salt/pepper jars too. Enjoyed both cocktails and how they’re presented. Quick service and friendly waitress. Dislike the assumed tips added to bills- can’t stand tipping culture in UK. I always have it removed from the bill but hate how awkward it is having to do that.

Benissimo la picanha steak, molto gradito dai Kids il chicken basket. Ottime le birre, prezzi contenuti soprattutto utilizzando lo sconto di gennaio.

The food was delicious and the service was great. However, I wasn't expecting to be dining with dogs and it doesn't say this is a dog friendly place anywhere obvious. I expect to see dogs in a local pub on a Sunday afternoon, but not on a Saturday night in a restaurant - I find this strange! Service dogs I appreciate as they are on a whole different behavioural level - but trying to have a conversation with a yappy chihuahua next to you is annoying. For this reason I wouldn't revisit.

Today we visited Alchemist in Cheltenham. Never been before, but was daughters choice as her birthday. Have fallen in love with this place! There were 8 of us. I had a Cubano sanguich which I would mega recommend. Was lovely and very tasty. The food was high quality. Nobody was unhappy. But the stratospheric levels were the cocktails and the staff serving them. There were some stunning displays of cocktails coming out. Bright colours. Drinks in all sorts of chemistry kit. Smoke and fire available. We absolutely loved it! The 2 ladies serving us were impeccable. Nothing was a problem. Their knowledge of the cocktails and how to pour them out of the pots they arrived in. They were both extremely helpful and knowledgeable. 1 of the ladies was wearing a pink tshirt and had tatoos. She was the hostess doing the mostest. The other lady was equally good. I don't live in Cheltenham but if I did I'd be in there weekly. Thankyou so much Alchemist and please pass on comments to your high quality staff who simply made it an experience of complete perfection! Go Team Alchemist Cheltenham!!

Really cool place for drinks, will be back! Didn't try the food.

Very poor service and communication. Prior to arriving we asked one of the staff about the kitchen closing time and they said 21:30 and we arrived at 21:00 and the staff said the kitchen was closed. We were highly disappointed cause if they had told us beforehand we would have come in earlier or gone to a different restaurant.

Great January deal, 40% off food prices if booked on line, ideal opportunity to try a restaurant we had previously considered. Wife and I both chose the picanha steak, hers traditionally grilled mine on a sizzling hot platter. Both meals excellent, picanha an excellent cut of steak which we have previously experienced in Argentina. Both meals were superb. Not very busy as expected on a January lunchtime, service, decor and ambiance good. ( and very clean toilets, always a bonus). Shared the lollipop prawns to start ( battered prawns on a stick) also very good. Now for my normal complaint, price of the wine! Always too high in British restaurants but this place really exceeds, will happily eat there again put probably stick to water and have a drink in the pub later.

We had visited before for a few cocktails and really liked it so decided to go back for a meal during the day New Years eve. We were served by Charlie who we couldn't fault, she was lovely and made our experience fun. I had the bang bang chicken and loved it, my husband had the steak and said it was really good. Instead of dessert we tried a few cocktails. The Jaffa cup one tasted just like drinking a Jaffa cake and was sooo good. Creme brulee and pipe dream also recommended. it was a great start to our new year and if only we lived closer we'd be back more often.

There were ten of us last Thursday at 1245. Sorry to say I don’t know the name of our waitress but she was EXCELLENT. She had to fix a few issues caused by others but did so very professionally. Many thanks to that lady.

I waited months to go here after discovering it looking around Chelt and preparing for our Christmas holiday. Pay £18 for one mediocre cocktail and a cider and not even a hello or chat from the bar staff. Have the cash to spend on multiple drinks but I’ll continue to go to Wetherspoons Bank House down the road for cheap pints and super friendly staff. Just avoid, not worth spending your money on for mediocre drinks and snarky bar staff.

I’m all for staff expressing their individuality but in the workplace I would expect some element of continuity. A football shirt and various other crumpled eclectic offerings weren’t in keeping with the venue in my opinion. The waitress with tattoos was somewhat in your face when barking instructions regarding starting time on table and rules about ordering the next drink which was unnecessary. All in all the obvious new members of staff who were being supervised did much better overall than the so say experienced ones.

Took a while to get served on a rainy Tuesday afternoon but once we did, cocktails were fabulous! Really enjoyed my colour changing one. My husband’s cocktail could have maybe come with something to stand it on as he had to hold it the entire time. Bar was also dog friendly as long as you were in the bar and not the restaurant.

The food was very average, the crispy belly pork was anything but crispy and the duck salad was a handful of tiny strips of dried and very fatty duck! The cocktails however were very nice 👌🏻

The food was awful I had Katsu Chicken it was so bland and hardly any sauce worst Katsu I have ever had very disappointing As for the drinks we had no extras or theatrical anything having been before last year which were amazing missing chocolate spoons and pearls with the cocktails they just came as basic cocktails smaller than last time Brought our friends with us thinking they would have an amazing time it’s definitely gone downhill from last years visit We won’t be dining or drinking there again or recommending it to anyone

Definitely a matter of style over substance, feels like the actual taste of the cocktails have been disregarded at the expense of the 'theatre'. Out of the 4 of our group, 3 of us didn't like the actual drink (although it looked good) maybe a case of choosing the wrong drink but at £15 for one of them it's an expensive mistake to make and not something you want to repeat!

I visited the alchemist for the first time last night. I ordered a T&T cocktail and got to watch my drink be made which was great but when I went to sit outside, I sat at a table that unknown to me at the time, was very wobbly. As I sat down, the table wobbled and my entire cocktail tipped all over me. I went in to the bar to let the staff know and the response I got was “oh” and a blank stare. After I asked, they kindly gave me some blue roll to use but I wasn’t offered an apology, another drink nor did anyone investigate the table. I was really excited to have a few drinks but as I was covered in my very first cocktail and as the customer service was not great, I left. Next time I’ll go to The Botanist.

I don't normally write reviews, but this time it was too much. I don't blame children who don't have the proper training I blame the management. The staff on the floor need training. Plus some of the chefs needs to learn the difference between a M-R and M-W how needs to be cook. I left with my empty stomach. I will not go back to soon.

If you haven’t been to an Alchemist, you should try one, just to gradually work your way through the cocktail menu to see the different chemical reactions. It’s worth it for the experience! I’d recommend booking a table to not be disappointed but it is still quicker to go to the bar to order over awaiting table service.

Fantastic visit! Myself and 8 friends booked it for after the gold cup in March, super friendly staff and amazing cocktails. They are worth the price and was a super pick me up after a long day at the races. Would highly recommend the pork scratchings and mojitos

Decided to go to The Alchemist for a special birthday meal out. Only having been for a few drinks before, we were not sure what to expect, but were surprised by how pleasant our night out was. There was a bit of an initial mishap with the table, but this was quickly sorted so no real issues there. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was fairly lively too. We ordered vegetable gyozas and the yakitori chicken which were both lovely ( admittedly the gyozas were a little different to what we expecting but still nice), the korean fried-chicken burger with salt and pepper chips on the side, and a cheeseburger ( with bacon) and salt and pepper chips too. The mains were delicious, and for dessert, we enjoyed churros and coffee and chocolates. Our only complaint was that even for a chain, the cocktails were pretty expensive for what they were. However, it made for a pleasant night out and certainly will be coming back again.

It was very much an unplanned visit but I must admit, it was the best meal we've had since moving to the area in March. Our waitress was soooo much fun and extremely helpful. Food was FANTASTIC and so much fun to watch the little tricks with dry ice Loved the mocktails ( and their own marmalade 🤤) And prices were really good, especially for what you get. We will DEFINITELY be back!! Brilliant place 😍

We visited on Valentine's Day booked on the 13th and they found us a table! We loved it so much fun the staff were fantastic all very helpful. They advised us on fun/special drinks which were tasty and exciting! My food was very yummy my partner had a steak sandwich which he thought was very basic our only criticism. He had the baked Alaska for pudding which was incredible! Overall we had a very special valentines night! Thank you!

We were a party of 7 ranging from 17 to 76 on a quiet Monday evening and had such a lovely time. The staff were really friendly, efficient and chatty. We tried loads of their cocktails which was a great experience - my mum in particular thought it was amazing. I wasn’t expecting the food to be anything better than your standard pub grub, but we were all pleasantly surprised by the quality, flavour and portion size. It was of a very good standard and it also had quite a few fun ‘scientific’ touches. The baked Alaska was great to see! I thought the food was very good value. We all went home very happy and will definitely visit again.

I’ve spent may a nights in the alchemist. This evening was an evening that included a slightly “fussy” friend on the positives of the alchemist chain. He was not impressed. Two round and knee £100 Down and I can’t fault his diagnosis on never stepping...

Larger selection of cocktails with some a mix for those that like something more on the sour side rather than the sweet. Can get quiet busy on the weekends. Grate place for a date as the mood later on weekday is realy nice

Popped in because my partner and I are quite partial to a good bloody Mary and we thought this place wouldn't dissappoint given it specialising in cocktails!...oh dear we were severely wrong...First of all I don't believe there was even 50ml of vodka as it was poured in at the same time as another watery concoction....then no ice, lemon or celery and the size of a tea cup in a large glass. We suggest if people want a good one pop in the cosy club it's not actually on there menu but they will still make it for you and put alot more effort in...fresh tomato juice and even a shot of malbec large glass with ice...why oh why did I stray from my usual place! Worst part it was £19 for the "privilege".

We visited the alchemist with our two young children. We were made to feel very welcome and there was a fab childrens menu. We all enjoyed cocktails/mocktails. Highly tecommend.

Great place for a work Christmas party. Cocktails are amazing 👏🏻 the staff were lovely, really attentive and quick to refill drinks & explain how to do the 'smoky things'. Music was a bit loud for chatting tho.

I’ve only ever had drinks here so can’t comment on the food but I love this place! The staff are so kind and polite, and can make drinks so quickly and to a high standard! I am an avid whisky hater - but was pleasantly surprised when I tried their smoked whisky (amazing)! Will be back next weekend, and probably every weekend thereafter .. 😃

Over priced nonsense, with pitiful food. Over hyped and truly a let down, visited here for a friends birthday and ended up leaving feeling hungry, and so underwhelmed as to be bored. Nothing original, just cheap tricks and gimmicks, very pedestrian and mundane. Lacked sparkly and glamour, felt like a tarted up Harvester. Won't come back.

I organised a surprise birthday last night for my Father's birthday. The venue was fantastic, cocktails were on another level and the food was full of flavour with immaculate presentation but I do not think we would've had such a memorable night without a woman called 'Amari or Amarni'. I'm so sorry Amari if I spelt your name wrong..... 😘 Amari served us and she was attentive, helpful and so thoughtful. She went the extra mile to ensure my Dad & Mum had a memorable experience. Shes a credit to Cheltenham branch and please can this be feedback to her & the manager! xx

Best quality coming from the best staff who love what they do. Two people who served us said 'We don't settle for fine' and 'we want wow!' Loved their approach and the barrel aged pineapple daiquiri. Thank you very much!

Expensive as hell but good vibe

Cocktails were great and obviously there's the novelty factor! The atmosphere was good, the staff were chatty and efficient. We went for brunch. I wasn't mad about my meal - went for pancakes with maple syrup and streaky bacon... I imagined a very American style dish with really crispy bacon - the bacon didn't quite hit the spot for me personally. That said my friends dish looked tasty! Wouldn't hesitate to try it out again - even if just for the cocktails.

I really liked this place. Picked because the veggie burger wasn't a protein specified one. It was just a generic description which meant it's unlikely to be too dull or rich. It was a good choice. My daughter loved it. I had the cheeseburger. I said to my guests that it looked a bit small. However, half way through I was full up! The waitress knew the seasonal fish which makes a change. I hate it when they can't give Provence. I was a fresh fish buyer for years so I like to know. My other mate had a bang bang salad that looked bloody amazing. They happily bought us all extras we asked for. The waiting staff were kind and good humoured. The theme and the decor as well as the smoking potion drinks were a gas. We didn't engage ourselves but we saw others. It was just a really nice place. We'd been let down by an error on the Cineworld website and then the bowling alley made an error and we couldn't have a lane so my daughter's day out treat from her Godfather was spoilt. Thank God for the Alchemist for giving her a big smile and a fun afternoon. We are losing her mum to a glioma tumor and it's getting very bad. She and I need all the happy experiences we can get. I'm quite a fussy prat so to say that nothing at all was wanting is not common for me. To others reading, the comments in the bad reviews make no sense. The dress code let me in with shorts and my scruffy mate who looks like a vagrant so no judgemental door staff that we saw. The food is not plain, and the reason it's expensive is the comfort, the artwork and decor and the happy helpful staff. It's not any more costly than other places but it at least ticks all the boxes to warrant it. You can go to Prezzo and save a tenner and have tepid average food, boxes and stationery being moved around you, cheap implements, serviettes, chipped worktop tables, and a waiter insincerely asking if everything is okay six times as you are eating and trying to talk Or you can spend the extra and be in inspiring environs with great food, lovely drinks and floor staff that leave you alone but are always there to be called if needed (asking "is everything okay?" more than once is my all time hatred in restaurants. Alchemist passed that one with flying colours!) Recommended 200%

The food was absolutely awesome and the cocktails very entertaining. My only criticism, and I suspect I am not their target audience, was that the volume of music made it quite difficult to have a conversation at a civilised level.

We started on the inside and as seats freed up outside we moved outside. A great drink selection, and the chem projects they do while making the drinks entertain the ladies.

Stopped in on a whim for Sunday brunch and it was lovely. The food was fresh and delicious. Portion size wasn’t huge but just enough for a hot day. The ceremony around pouring the tea was so much fun. And I just can’t recommend it enough. I would happily go back again and try something different. We were looked after by the lovely Charlotte who was a dream and helped us navigate the menu and the drinks. Highly recommend

2 stars only for the ambience and friendly staff who were serving drinks who were very helpful in guiding us with our questions. Not worth the money the cocktails and mock tails are over priced , taste is below average, only show no value for what you pay . The worst experience is the guards outside who seem to judge people by the colour and the dress you wear absolutely disgraceful behaviour never knew this place had a dress code one of my friends were stopped initially from entering but then don’t know what made him to change his mind we were allowed inside not a great experience for a first time visit and first impressions. I definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone to this place possibly one time visit only.

"Light the way" They said. I held the Bunsen burner close to my chest, my guiding light. The room was humid and dense, the flame dwindling. Sweat clung to me as i waded through the thick, cream-like swamp that was once The Alchemist. The dry ice, once a feast for the eyes, had overgrown. Now stripped to a vulgar visage, contorted and broken. "It shall be writ upon Thy meagre grave" It spoke, "felled by the beastly god of carbon dioxide." My crew stood behind me trembling, their burdened hearts weak and their toiled minds broken. The beast struck, cleaving the skulls of my friends, their brains coalescing into a visceral goo. The Beast scooped the cranial jelly into its palm, placing it into a small beaker and then wedging a sparkler into their soft, grey matter. It beckoned me forth, "Drink" it demanded. "Or is it such? A measly thing like you? Unable to drink this... Ambrosia? Sweet nectarine of the Gods? Thou'rt unfit to behold this vestige of thine friends." The Beast gulped the conglomeration which sluggishly dripped its way down The Beast's gullet. I lay there amongst the defiled corpses of my friends. The Beast stared down at me with such comtempt. It screeched before slunking away to its shallow alcove. It remains there to this day, staring me down. I have no clue why it let me live. To suffer? Does it enjoy my anguish? Could dry ice even be capable of such despisal? Surely not, yet my impressions of dry ice have been stunted before. One thing is for certain, The Beast is surely demonic in nature.

Dropped in for lunch, the food was different to most pub chain food. The menu is well thought through with different types of twists on classic foods, the staff are lovely especially the young lady who looked after us (Australian I think)
