The Alberts Deli in Richmond upon Thames

We went in a Monday morning. Plenty of seats. Best breakfast we had on our trip to England.

the coffee here was amazing and the staff were very kind but i couldn’t give the veggie breakfast anything higher than 3 stars. for £14 you’d expect something more than this. could be improved with mushrooms, avocado, potatoes, halloumi etc. could get something 10x better at somewhere such as ‘bobo and wild’ for the same price.

Very pleasant staff, great meals and a large selection of good looking baked goods:) Not too much seating but we were lucky to get a table outside! They welcome leashed dogs.

Lovely micro deli/cafe. Great atmosphere, delicious food. Seats 11 people in and 8 outside.

I love this place, I often take guests here when they visit, or suggest it to friends to meet. It’s small and cosy and sometimes have to wait for a table, but usually never for long.

Loved the vibe of this deli and they have an amazing, varied menu. I had the club sandwich which was EPIC. Good coffee and cakes too. I'll try their evening dining option next!

Went in today for lunch after a very gruelling walk in Richmond park. This place warmed my heart, through is amazing food and sensational service. If I lived closer I would be back all the time - what an absolute gem of a place!

Toastie was good but prices on the menu are not what they charge at the till. We ordered a pastrami melt and she charged us £9 to eat in. I asked why the difference when all the menus say 8.50 and there wasn’t a clear reasoning

The best coffee shop I’ve ever been to. We had a lovely lunch, homemade veggie quiche a lovely Asian salad, soup and a toasite rounded off with coffee and carrot cake. Beautiful food, amazing ambience. Can’t wait to return!

One of my favourite places in Richmond. Come here every day for my coffee and breakfast snack. The staff are always so warm and friendly and the deli is such a lovely feature of our community. Keep up the good work.

Highly recommend the Deli’s Thursday/Friday night dinner offering. Food was superb (beef rib was to die for), atmosphere was a comfortable mix of sophisticated and neighbourly. Can’t comment on the wine component as I don’t drink, but everyone else seemed to be loving it. Relaxed, friendly, just a lovely way to spend an evening and enjoy some excellent food, without having to travel too far (or pay exorbitant central London restaurant prices). This is a new venture for Cathy-Sue and her Alberts Deli staff and she is knocking it out of the park.

Just had dinner at my lovely local deli which is now doing a dinner service on Thurs and Fridays, as well as cheese and charcuterie boards with wine. The food was amazing - a lovely selection of nibbles to start, a sublime beef rib main course and a surprise pud which was delicious. Lovely staff and a really nice cozy but sophisticated evening vibe. And a really good price. I don’t drink but the wine list was impressive. So impressed. Thank you Cathy-Sue I shall be back….

Lovely spot - a short walk from all the boring venture capital chain cafes in the town centre. Good coffee, great food, good service and reasonable, too.

Lovey little cafe! It’s a little cramped to eat inside on busy periods, but the food is lovely and the service is fantastic. We had a small issue with the orange juice we bought and it was immediately resolved when we raised it with the team. Will likely be back soon ☺️

We sat outside and had a lovely breakfast. Deli looked amazing with fresh bread on the side.

The service was shocking, they didnt even wipe clean the tables from the last people who used it, both our cutlery was dirty and had to change them. The food was ok, and the coffee was lukewarm. I don’t think I would go back

It’s difficult to write something negative about this cafe which serves very good food with friendly service. However my 3 stars review is due solely to the frankly unacceptable situation of trash being stored right next to where the outside tables are located. I realize that there’s probably limited space but maybe some sort of screen could be erected to at least keep this out of sight when you’re eating your lunch etc? Otherwise great place.

Cute little deli in Richmond. They do a fantastic breakfast/brunch, I’ve particularly enjoyed the Turkish eggs! Would also recommend the sandwiches, cakes and cookies. It’s usually quite busy so sometimes there can be a bit of a wait for a table but it’s worth it!

Cute little deli... I had a take away experience of a soggy spinach roll and double espresso which looked like and tasted like a filter coffee that burned my tongue. Never again!

Our favourite place for breakfast in Richmond! Mouthwatering displays and well-stocked fridges all served with bountiful bonhomie from Cathy-Sue and her crew. A lovely community spot in the heart of The Alberts and well worth supporting. Just don’t be tempted by their brownies too often!

This is one of our favourite places to eat in Richmond. The BLT sandwich was one of the best ever in my life. My fiance had the chicken which was super yummy. I love that they pay attention to the detail in this place. Affordable and a great cosy atmosphere too. We will definitely be back!

Went for breakfast, very very good. Turkish eggs were perfect, coffee just right. What a lovely place and lovely staff. The deli looks brilliant as well, they stock our favourite Sicilian olive oil, at a good price (Centoze).

Great options for brunch. Homey feel to the place, probably because it's small and has cosy wooden decor. Friendly service. Not suitable for bigger groups as the tables are small round ones perfect for 2.

I am a first timer at the Delhi whuch was suggested as a meeting place by a friend. We had to wait for a table but i didn't mind as it was worth it for my delicious veg breakfast.

We were in vacation and asked our host for a good place to go out for breakfast to have a traditional englisch breakfast. He gave us the tip to go to the Alberts deli. We need over a hour to get there and it was really worth! The breakfast was excellent. I had a vegetarian one. The people who work there are so friendly and the local is nicely furnished. If we are in London again we will definitive come back! You should go there! If you don't you miss something 😉

Really cute deli with a few tables. I had the pastrami melt toastie, it was absolutely delicious, great choice! Cakes looked fab but I stuck with the sammo and a very good americano coffee. Only downside is that they don't have a customer toilet, but you can the pubs next door

Small place but tasty breakfast

This spot is absolutely delightful! Friendly service with a smile, great breakfast and the staff is very kind and welcoming. Fresh breads, pastries, and coffee-to-go is also available. Recommend!

It's been 6 months since I moved to Richmond and I've only just found this gem of a brunch place. In my opinion far superior to the chain places in town. Seating is limited so arrive after lunch time to ensure there is space for me at brunch....

One of the best brunches I have ever had. We took a toast with brie, caramelized onions and bacon, Turkish eggs and a traditional English breakfast and everything was delicious. The staff is smiley and the place itself is lovely. Definitely recommended!

This deli is an absolute gorgeous choice for a tranquil and quiet breakfast. They had some smooth jazz playing in the background, and had an array of different cakes and treats to choose from; making me want to come back for more. The staff were polite and precise with my order, always with a smile on their face. A simple gesture, but made my experience even that more friendly.

Bit expensive for half a cup of tea with breakfast

The home of the ‘full Albert’ breakfast managed to bond strangers as a wedding party got in full swing at a nearby pub. The breakfasts had led the devotee on my left to enthuse that we should all meet there in the morning and have Full Alberts. Although I didn’t make it, I made a mental note: A deli must be more than worth its weight in Hollandaise sauce to interrupt flowing draughts of Asahi and flutes of celebratory fizz. How’s Alberts’? has become a conversation piece ever since. Still amazing, is the default reply. Plonking myself down with a dear friend at one of the outside bistro tables four months later, it was time to see if this dinky eaterie could live up to the merry recommendation. Wrapped around a corner on a back street, it has a boutique feel but I was reassured to see HP sauce and tomato ketchup ready and waiting alongside the miniature daffodils. The Alberts Deli has an unassuming charm in its corner of Richmond Upon Thames I ordered a cappuccino and a croissant, the former being delivered to the table piping hot – take note, mega-chain – in a moss green mug. My companion had the same drink plus a wholesome sausage sandwich. Both coffees had a light powdering of chocolate, a delicate touch from someone behind a counter and glass cabinet stacked with in-house savouries including giant sausage rolls. As my friend had placed the order, I crossed the threshold for the first time to ask for jam, to which a welcoming member of staff held up a near-overflowing wicker basket of preserves and invited me to help myself. I felt like a big kid invited to pile in, but preserved a degree of adult modesty by taking a mini-pot each of marmalade and raspberry. Fuller ensembles await. There’s the ‘Full Albert’, which comes with “two of everything”, plus beans and toast, for £10.95, and there’s also an avocado on toast with feta, lime, chilli flakes and a poached egg for £8.95. Having unscientifically validated my drinking companion’s recommendation and, feeling like I’d had a taste of local folklore, I’ll be back for a bigger bite. Charming to a tee, Albert’s house is perfect for casual diners, those soaking up Japanese lager and a side adventure after the most blessed of occasions.

The deli is beautifully laid out but the coffee needs improvement. Coffee is tasteless but charged at upmarket deli prices. See Richmond Hill Bakery for example of good coffee.

The food is nice, the personnel is polite and welcoming. I just wish they cover the food on the counter, particularly as they allow dogs in there

Great coffee, really friendly staff

I visited Alberts for the first time recently and bought a pastrami sandwich to take away. The sandwich was very nice and the service good. I had been hoping that they would have a true pastrami sandwich with large amounts of pastrami and not much else! However that was not the case and such sandwiches are still hard to find outside the East End.

The food was very tasty, the service friendly, but it’s cramped and wasn’t comfortable to sit and eat with various people having to cram into 4 tables in a space fit for 2 only. They don’t have a toilet, impractical when you’re sitting down to eat. The coffee beans they use are bitter so might not be to everyone’s taste. The rating is mostly for the taste of the food and the friendly and helpful waitress.

The food is always delicious and you are always welcomed with a huge smile. Also very impressive to see them adapt over the course of the last 12 months; they really have been a huge help to the community during the various lock downs. Personal favourites are the brownies and also the spinach, feta and pine nut rolls.

Not pleasant service from the owner very disconcerting, the rest of the girls there are lovely the food is good but over priced I feel especially for the lack of good quality customer service from the manager/owner hopefully I will be greeted with a little more enthusiasm and a hospitable host if I return. Shame the service did not do cafe justice.

This is a great little store that has delicious pastries and sausage rolls, sandwiches and more. They sell wine, beer and spirits for takeaway. Their coffee is OK but nothing special.

My favorite local cafe! Warm, friendly staff who very quickly make you feel at home and like a "regular". Delicious food. They've adapted SO well to the lockdowns, offering tons of groceries while still making hot food in the kitchen, all while in PPE and requiring customers to wear masks and not crowd inside. I'm so happy with how they've managed the pandemic and even happier to keep ordering my favorite avocado on toasts breakfasts from them!

Super cute and well-stocked store with good coffee! I personally just found it frustrating that not a single item in the store had a price marked on it and when I asked politely for the price of something, I was met with extreme attitude from one of the ladies working. According to my partner who has visited before, it wasn’t the first time that type of thing had happened. Just something to keep in mind :)

They are very friendly staff and always very helpful and have most of things I needed.

This is my new favourite! Ordered the club sandwich a couple of times now, it’s amazing. Today I ordered the sausage roll for the first time and honestly it’s the best I’ve ever had!

This Deli is not only providing all the food and coffee you could want but during this strange year of 2020 it is providing fresh local produce and even toilet roll! Take a visit and you won’t regret it.

A lovely place but the waiting time its just to much for a sandwich

Karen is running this quaint little cafe run along traditional lines. Reminded me of my childhood cafe in yorkshire.Great place to take your mun with the kids as really safe. When we visited Karen and her team marched a dubious looking out of town type off the premises and am sure they would've called the police if there had been any sign of trouble.

Everybody is kind and everything is delicious. Just perfect.

While the locals appreciate they are delivering and doing takeaways during this awful time I do feel they are taking advantage of the situation. Their prices are extortionate!! No one begrudges paying a little extra, but charging £2. 95 for a standard loaf of bread is just pure greed when the same loaf retails for £1.50 in the supermarket. I would rather go without in future than line their pockets with money made out of people’s misery.

We enjoyed our breakfast! A great way to start of our day before our walkies at the Richmond river walk. Food was delicious and we had tried a few different cake tasters and they were all delicious and so moist! If it was tea time we would’ve order our own slices. Staff are all so welcoming and warm, you can help but feel so calm and relax, Hyyge!
