My sister had booked an afternoon tea for the three of us as it was our anniversary. We were so looking forward to it as we had been here sometime before and it was lovely. But times have changed. We were seated in quite a soul less room which had a large and distracting, television. The staff I h!ave to say were very good and attentive. The afternoon tea when it came was disappointing, there was no wow factor and looked very meagre. Because I am a veggie I had my own cake stand and one less sandwich than my carnivore companions. The shot glass with a cream concoction was lovely but the spoon given is too big to go into the glass. The cakes tasted very nice but there was nothing special about them, a thin slice of madeira, a thin slice of brownie and a minute offering of flap jack. The shortbread biscuit was nice though. The scones resembled biscuits and were quite hard. Clotted cream was nice though. All in all not an unpleasant afternoon but not nice enough to tempt me back again.

Ate here yesterday (sunday) and I must say we enjoyed every moment of it. The food was lovely, and I liked the dishes that the vegetables came in. I do like cheesy cauliflower yum.. The only thing that I will say which is a negative was the other guests that were dining. There were 2 medium size tables, probably about 10 in total, could've been a few more with them, that I would say spoiled the experience for us. They seemed to be quite rude towards the staff, whom I must say worked very hard and very professional. Im pretty sure that I saw one of the gentleman on one of the tables clicking his fingers for attention, whilst two of the staff were serving food at another table. I just found that very rude indeed. The staff do not need to be treated in such a way. I could hear them muttering to each other about how they would be complaining. One even said that they will be sending a formal email. I would just like to pint out, that whomever reads this review, doesn't listen to a word they say, because I believe there will be a few tall tales. Anyway, ending the rant there, food was delicious, staff were great which matched the service. We will definitely be coming back in the near future, just hipefully, not with those guests in attendance. Keep up the good work. M

Booked a table to eat here in the restaurant but what a let down. After pulling up outside the hotel it looked like a dark run down place. We got inside to the reception and no-one was there or anywhere around to greet us or give the way to get into the restaurants so we just had to choose a way to walk. The corridors looked like a construction site as the walls were just plaster and boarded doors. We found The Adderley restaurant and let me tell you it looks nothing like the pictures provided. It was small, dim and basically looked and felt just a room with tables and chairs laid out to try and look like a restaurant. I was very tempted to go (as two other people did when we were waiting for our food) but I thought to stay as the food was mainly why we come as the menu sounded nice. The waitress was the only good thing, well mannered and always making sure to see if everything was OK with the drinks and food. The food you only had to blink and it was gone the portions were so small after we ate we had to get a takeaway as it felt like we didn't even eat. Wouldn't have minded that the portions were small if the food was like Michelin/tasty meals but it was too basic. Overall I would not recommend.

The quality of the food at dinner was excellent. Deliciously soft and buttery scallops, nice steak (although not the best quality so cooking it medium rare was a bit of a struggle) and the best cheese board I've had, loved the chutney and the quality of the cheese. My wife's lamb shank also was very nice with a nice sauce. So why only 4 out of 5? Service and breakfast.... Wasn't offered a wine list, we took some drinks through from the bar but still should have been asked. Service was slow and you can tell the staff were inexperienced which I don't mind but it did make it awkward at times such as the waiter trying to open wine with a traditional corkscrew, he struggled and I wanted to assist (just give him the easier type corkscrew, does anybody mind these days?). Took ages to then get a dessert menu and the more experienced waitress took over. If I'm in the area again I'd definitely go to the restaurant but I wouldn't bother with breakfast, a miserable lady showed us to the table and food wasn't being replaced quickly enough. 4* hotel restaurant but not 4* service

We were booked in on a Winter Warmer break which included an evening meal We were told how it worked and were pleased with reception for giving us an explanation But it was not what we were told as we sat down for our meal . So that was confusing We had to wait for some time for our drinks and when they came they were wrong . We ordered our food and my steak was grisly and mildly warm and my green beans were cold and the chips ( I'm not sire what they were but they were also mildly warm and very greasy as if they had been soaked in something like a gravy ) Char-grilled sirloin steak, roast vine tomato, French beans, choron sauce, our chips ? What does our chips mean ? The chips on the table next to our looked crisp and golden The bacon roll at lunchtime was pretty average after quite a long wait the roll was actually toasted and burnt I was asked if it was alright I said it wasnt as the roll was burnt I was asked if I wanted another roll I said no as we had already waited for almost 30 mins for the first one to arrive Not impressed on this visit at all No apology from anyone which is really disappointing

Me and my partner were too Ill to go out New Year's Eve so thought we'd treat ourselves to a nice meal out to make up for it and what a treat it was!! The food was simply amazing and the service faultless! We were greeted with a lovely smile by a young lady who showed us to our table (unfortunately i don't remember her name) and told a gentleman called Aaron would be our waiter for the evening but asked in the meantime if she could get us any drinks. The drinks came promptly and the sauvignon blanc one of the best I've tasted. The menu was plentiful and something to suit all tastes. Me and my partner both went for the tomato and cheddar tart to start and I went for the blade of beef for main and my partner the lamb rump, I cannot even explain how delicious it was! It's been a very long time since we've both enjoyed a meal so much! After the meal we were both stuffed but couldn't pass up the opportunity to try one of the lovely desserts, we both went for the sticky toffee pudding and again were not disappointed! Throughout the whole evening Aaron was attentive and made sure our glasses were full. Our bill came to just under £80 which for what we had was exceptional value and will definitely be returning again! Thanks again for a wonderful evening!

I would like to agreee with the review left on 17 July. We felt exactly the same. We have eaten here on many occasions, and nearly always for Christmas day lunch and never had cause for complaint. We went for Sunday lunch 27th September and for the first time ever left wishing we had gone else where, Our booking was for 2.30 but it felt like they had already wound down for the day, there were untidy tables and just two staff. The menu was appalling, I don't eat red meat but I'm not a vegetarian the other choice was sea bass, hmmm, although upon request they kindly did me a chicken breast. The bread rolls looked and tasted cheap shop bought and the cream of leak and potato soup tasted watered down, actually no cream in it. The main meals were very nice and hot with a selection of vegetables. I opted for the cheesecake for dessert, luckily it was the smallest dessert I have ever had because it was tasteless, although the chocolate brownie was nice. Needless to say we didn't stay for coffee. I can't believe we experienced a meal like this at Lea Marston Hotel, maybe the restaruant manger needs to up his/her game a bit as this was shoddy.

This is a beautiful hotel which I have visited on a variety of occasions as both a diner and spa customer. The staff here are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I wanted somewhere special to book for both mine and my 7 year olds birthday lunch with family - so Lea Marston seemed like a good choice. In total there were 15 of us.A three course Sunday lunch is priced at £16.95 for adults and £8.95 for children which isn't cheap but we didn't mind as it was special occasion and on previous visits the meals had been delicious. Unfortunately, on this occasion this wasn't to be the case! I think you always feel more disappointed if its a venue that you've recommended and it doesn't quite live up to the review you've given it - that was me on Sunday.I know this sounds petty but previously the bread rolls on the table appeared to be home made, some brown with seeds, some plain etc. A wide range of choices. On Sunday we had bread rolls that appeared to have come out of packet, very small white baps. The starters were fine ... I had a chicken and asparagus tart which was "just warm" but tasty. The prawn cocktail came without any bread but the melon was a real hit with the kids as it looked the part shaped like a flower. we were one missing which we had to wait for. Then came the main courses, there was plenty of vegetables and potatoes but unfortunately, again the food was on the cold side and didn't look fresh. One of the guests did ask for his to be warmed up which they very kindly obliged. The beef seemed a real hit. The ham not so much so - very dry and stringy. Dessert was probably the best course and everybody seemed to agree - the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. The waitresses were brilliant, very attentive and helpful but I think being the last table to eat went against us. It just didn't seem fresh. I'm not saying don't go here - I have had some great meals here in the past. I would however suggest that you book earlier than we did - we sat down at ten to two.The hotel is clean, service is amazing and the overall feeling of luxury is great. Not a cheap day though as the wine/drinks were expensive.

After reading other trip advisor reviews I took my wife for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we choose from the fixed price menu, the food was of a very high standard, we couldn't fault any of our 6 dishes, if you include the little extras they kept bringing it was almost a 6 course menu! The staff had been trained very well, the only thing that that could be improved is the room it's self, the lighting was rather bright, but to have this food and service in a 300 year old character hotel, will cost you almost double our £80 bill that included a nice bottle of red.

Took my wife for a meal out on a Friday night. The atmosphere is a little bland due to its location inside a hotel/spa complex, but it's quiet and well presented, which is more than can be said for a lot of places. The service is excellent. The food is very good, well presented, and cooked to a high standard. Nothing overly inventive, but a sensible variety without being a cumbersome and bland menu. The complementary tasters are a lovely touch - some better than I've had in a Michelin restaurant. The meat courses are very well cooked. The risotto was particularly tasty. The prices are mid - range and nothing that would dent the overdraft! Overall a pleasant and professional restaurant that's perfect if you want to avoid eating in town. My wife would eat there again, which is the biggest compliment I can give!

After struggling to find an appropriate venue for a birthday party, I came across Lea Marston and the Adderley Restaurant. Took a look at trip advisor as well as their website, had a quick Google street view, and all seemed well. The photo's looked great and so did the bar. Booked it thinking I had finally sorted a decent venue. How I was so wrong. On arriving to the venue, I was quick to realise that the building that I thought we were going to on Google streetview, was in fact residential (my mistake) and that the actual venue where we would be eating, was nothing more than a 'premiere inn' type of building. So instantly, not the setting I was expecting - no wonder they have no actual photo's of the building on their website. On entering, there were further disappointments, let's just say the photo's do a very good job. And the one detail you'll complete miss on the photo's, is the lack of air conditioning. None. Apparently it was on but 'struggling'. It was like sitting in a steam room. Coke served was flat, on three occassions before they realise that there was a problem with the system. Food is presented well, but has no substance. Lack of atmosphere and overal a complete disappointment. Avoid at all costs. There are plenty of other decent places too eat with much nicer settings.

I've never been to a restaurant where I received a dish completely different to what was stated on the menu. Two of my party of 4 ordered the Confit duck, pear puree, mesculin salad starter. Instead we were actually served what is best described as a duck terrine, you could hardly taste the duck when it should be the star of the show. The mesculin salad should be mixed baby salad leaves, we had 4 leaves all the same variety. Sticky toffee pudding nice but not warmed through properly. I did explain to the waiter that I felt the menu was misleading. Lamb ok

Sunday lunch here is excellent value even without the 3 Course pay for two offer. How ever saying that the food is very bland, tasteless and cold. The beef served yesterday was inedible. It was explained they had changed their meat supplier for the beef and our comments would be noted. If the food quality matched the service and surroudings of the restaurant then this would be the perfect place to eat. Staff are very professional, helpful and polite they make you feel very welcome including children and small babies. They can cater for large family groups with ease. Went to the Adderley restaurant last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This is an annual event as we also got married there. We were given a small appetiser to start with - smoked salmon with lemon aioli which was delicious and then we were given a bowl of bread and olives. My God, I thought. I haven't even had my starter yet. I chose the rabbit and bacon terrine followed by the king prawn risotto. Both were absolutely beautiful and the staff were very attentive and knowledeable about the dishes on the menu. I would definitely return, hopefully before my anniversary next year.

We went for a family celebration to this restaurant in Lea Marston hotel. The restaurant is nice enough, with a good atmosphere and the serving staff were fantastic, all very friendly and chatty. The food was nice but nothing that amazed me and made me think it deserved 2 AA rosette's,certainly not the best 2 rosette restaurant out there. The bar area where we sat for a drink before the meal was swamped with wedding guests and we had to wait about 20 minutes to get a drink. Overall everyone had a good night and most people in the party were happy with the experience.

This is a lovely place to go for Sunday lunch. The food is always served hot and delicious and the staff are always friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a very homely atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable! Especially on the area up the step. Would recommend to friends and family

Visited The Red Lion after recommendations and wasn't disappointed! From entering the hostelry and having a lovely warm and smiling welcome from Molly, we were promptly shown to our table. The restuarant was warm and cosy and spotlessly clean with all the waiting staff dressed smartly in a distinct uniform. Yes there was a little wait but the service and the food was amazing. We had the triple meats roast and couldn't fault the quality of the food, the portions nor how hot it was. We will certainly visit again as this is the best Sunday roast we've had in the Tamworth area since teturning 'home' to live in exactly 1 year .... simply the best ...

We stayed at the marriot as a party of 6 and booked into the restaurant for our evening meal.Firstly let me just say that this review is not a critique of the few staff who struggled to make the evening work but of the restaurant management who left the restaurant so terribly understaffed. Upon arrival we where shown to our table in the centre of an incredibly brightly lit room..no table cloth..no place mats ..just cutlery ..then the harried waitress said that due to lack of staff it would be quicker if we ordered our own drinks from the bar and carried them through to the restaurant. The restaurant was chaotic and it felt at times like it could all erupt in chaos at any moment ( I can only imagine the madness of what was going on behind the scenes). The food arrived ..my £20 burger and fries was on a par with a wethetspoons effort..my sons £20 veggie burger was just slices of uncooked haloumi in a bun and my wife's fish was merely tepid..didn't have the heart to mention this to the waitress as it looked like that kind of comment would have resulted in aprons being thrown to the floor and staff going home....I felt sorry for a couple who looked like they where trying to have a romantic meal in a room that looked like it was offering emergency relief to the needy. We ate in the restaurant the next morning and that was a different story ..a lovely start to the day which was much needed after the overpriced wetherspoons the night before...
