The Abbey Hotel in Malvern Hills

I grew up in Malvern and always wanted to stay at the Abbey. As an adult I have been able to do this while visiting elderly parents and their friends. Lovely views of the Priory and beyond. Great breakfast and service. Comfortable bed. Lovely to have a bath too. Good location.

My wife and I have stayed at the Abbey on a number of occasions in the past. We keep coming back to the hotel as it is so friendly and laid back. The rooms are to a very good standard and the food quality is excellent. We find the staff to be very helpful. The hotel itself is set in a perfect location and there is no doubt that my wife and I will be returning to the Abbey at a future date.

Prior to my visit, Heathrow had a malfunction that led to thousands of canceled flights. This prevented a good friend from joining me on our planned journey to Malvern. The concierge was kind enough to upgrade my room to a king bed rather than my planned twin room. While I was sad my friend could not make the journey, the treatment I received here made my day. Accommodations are excellent, and the hotel's exterior is beautiful. Also breakfast was very good.

Second stay in this Hotel - full of character and well placed for visiting the local area. Friendly and efficient staff, comfortable rooms which were well equipped and beds very comfortable. Would certainly stay here again as our preferred Hotel in the area.

We had a wonderful time in Malvern and the Abby hotel sits in an absolutely fantastic setting, near to everything! The staff were attentive friendly and polite at all times, a testament to great leadership! Thank you and keep it up, you are an exception in a world of eroding standards!

Excellent all around experience

The Abbey Hotel never disappoints - the staff are all very welcoming and hospitable, the rooms are always very comfortable and spotlessly clean and the breakfasts are superb! It is always such a treat to revisit and to take advantage of the fact that the theatre and cinema are just a stone’s throw away - perfect!

A lovely hotel with friendly and attentive staff. We experienced very good service throughout our stay. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a smile, an easy check-in process and x 2 complimentary drinks coupons. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was good. The restaurant served delicious food for dinner and breakfast. The hotel is situated in the heart of Malvern and the town is on your doorstep, so it's perfect for exploring!

Perfectly positioned for the theatre. Good buffet breakfast. Rooms immaculate, thanks to the housekeeping team.

Good location with plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. We ate in the restaurant both nights and were pleased with the food. It was especially good value as we had Travelzoo vouchers and had a bottle of wine per night. A very enjoyable stay.

Was very impressed with The Abbey…. Definitely one will be coming back to. Looks amazing, staff very helpful, food was great, the room was smart, clean and comfortable. It has sufficient parking and a short walk from the shops.

The rooms are massively spacious, we booked the most basic option and it was incredible. The staff were wonderful too, and the hotel itself is beautiful. The surroundings are incredible too. We will be back soon as it was such an incredible stay and we were sad to not stay longer

My colleagues and I stayed here for a training course followed by a meeting. We were happy with the accommodation which was extremely clean. It is a very large old building but made to feel warm and welcoming. The food in particular was really excellent and the hotel had a great menu which was well priced and good value for money. It was great to get free onsite parking too. Well situated in Malvern.

This was our first stay at The Abbey Hotel, and it wont be our last ! The room was in the more recently constructed Elgar building. The room was spacious , comfortable, spotless. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was fantastic, and breakfast the following morning which was great All of the staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful and efficient We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was our first trip to Great Malvern. The town and hills were amazing. We will definitely be back to Great Malvern and The Abbey.

Beautiful hotel, with excellent amenities. Our room was a 'basic' one but it had everything you need for an overnight stay and plenty of room. The bed was huge and extra comfortable with views over the abbey grounds. Food and drink good and service superb. Perfect for Malvern Theatres which is just across the road. We had a lovely stay and plan a return visit.

Located next to the Abbey Cathedral steeped in history going back nearly a 1000years. We enjoyed our Stay the rooms are very comfortable and clean there is a room service if needed, breakfast in the morning was excellent served in the breakfast room. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

The Abbey Hotel, is a beautiful hotel. Karolina the manager was kind, helpful, and patient. They are very attentive to their guests and the needs of the guest. I always feel welcomed staying here. Denis the receptionist was efficient and friendly! The staff is all around fabulous.

Fab hotel, started with a lovely welcome at reception. V. Large family room plenty of space. Great nights sleep. Amazing breakfast with everything you could want with a beautiful view. Booked direct so to top it off got a free drink. Amazing value for money .

Just had afternoon tea and I must say it was amazing you have the choice of what sandwiches you want and the scones was hot crunchy and out of this world best I've ever tried

Almost impossible to convey how great our stay was. I used to live in Malvern for many years and regularly enjoy revisiting the the area. We have stayed at the Abbey before and are familiar with its excellence - but even taking that into account, we were so impressed to see that the very high standards are being maintained

This is a beautiful hotel with warm comfy rooms, excellent breakfast & dinner and very friendly staff. The only critism would be the cost of the bar meals. I feel £10 for a dessert is very expensive. Would happily visit again as very central to everything Malvern has to offer.

We have been staying at the Abbey Hotel for a number of years now. We keep coming back for the good service in comfortable surroundings. Feels like a little bit of luxury in a laid back atmosphere.

Great stay, very comfortable and really central to Malvern. Marred only by a lack of an EV charger (Malvern as a whole suffers from poor provision of fast charging).

This is a really friendly hotel. Lovely position close to the centre of town. Room was pleasant, lovely and warm. Breakfast was good and varied. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Tea, coffee and water in the room. Bed was comfortable. All in all, a very enjoyable stay

What a lovely stay! My mother and I stayed for the Christmas Package (3 nights). The staff were amazing, friendly, professional and really helped to ensure there was a festive atmosphere. Good food (plenty of food!) and good drinks selection. The hotel was beautifully decorated, and there are plenty of comfortable lounge seating areas. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. My request to move room (away from the road) was met without out fuss and I was even shown a couple of options before choosing. The hotel is in a super location, with rural walks, shops and pubs all near by. Thank you to the team for making our Christmas so special.

Excellent service from all the staff. Comfortable bedroom although furniture a little dated. I cannot praise the restaurant staff enough. I am vegan as well as lactose intolerant and they all went out of there way to ensure that I had enough of the right food to eat, even changing the menu if I did not like what was on offer.

I really enjoyed my stay in The Abbey Hotel. As the name suggests the hotel was right next door to the abbey and in the centre of the town and yet out of my bedroom window I could see the stunning Malvern Hills and the beautiful hotel garden. The staff were so nice, accommodating and made me feel very welcome - nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was also beautifully decorated for Christmas. Checking in and out was extremely easy as it was online so no queues at reception just peaceful calm. Thank you so much to all the staff and especially the lovely Denis.

We arrived to find we had been allocated a lower grade room (looked more like a travellodge family room. ) wasn't able to have the curtains open due to being overlooked by the adjacent corridor. Bathroom, badly cracked basin, mold in the shower cubicle. Food not as expected. Got our order wrong, so my husband's food was cold by the time my arrived corrected. Compared to one of your sister hotels it rates poorly.

Close to the theatre and town. A lovely hotel with a lot of personality.

Very warm welcome from the reception staff as I arrived, room was easily accessible for me (I use a crutch most of the time to get around) only two little steps to walk up. The room was spacious and the bed was nice and comfortable. I did have a slight mishap with pressing the wrong button on the tv remote causing it to go to a blue screen but one of the staff was more than happy to come and show me how to fix it (I had accidentally changed the source -oops!). The breakfast had a good selection , the cooked options were excellent and the staff were friendly. I did sit for a little bit on my second evening in the Priory Bar, the staff were again very friendly and I must say you do a very nice hot chocolate. Check out was nice and easy.

We could not have made a better choice of hotel. Delicious food, impeccable service and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We loved our stay there and would recommend it to anyone.

the hotel is right in the centre of the town. right from the start had truely wonderful service from all staff we were in contact with. price for our stay was good value for such a wonderful room and good food.the place was spotlessly clean.all staff smartly dressed. room was very clean.bed very comfortable.it was good to see managers being hands on . staff in the resturaunt were really swell trained in their duties.you have very good chefs.thank you for making us so welcome. will certainly visit again.easy to check in and out.it was so good we could pay a fee and use our room until 4pm on the day of our departure

As always the hotel staff were welcoming and friendly and we had no issues checking in at all. The room however was not as good as our first stay. The coffee machine was broken. The seals on the windows were not great and let in alot of noise and cold air. This was not offset by having the curtains closed. This is very much not the normal for this hotel and just a one off. The bar and breakfast were as good as always with great food and drink. I will definitely stay again but not in that room until the window issue is resolved.

We stayed here whilst we attended a wedding recently. The rooms were very clean and well maintained . The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast had really good choices and the staff kept the tables clean and tidy for people to use

Brilliant weekend, lovely hotel, good food and great location.

We booked 2 consecutive dance holidays with yes2dance at The Abbey 4 followed by 3 days so a full week. The staff were always friendly and helpful despite the mayhem we were creating pn a couple of days. Room eas clean and serviced every day. We had breakfast and evening meal which in a group can be a challenge but they handled it without drama and I enjoyed them all. Additionally if Ian and Penny of yes2dance are running a holiday and you dance then highly recommended but you have to be quick as they sell out fast.

Visited the Abbey for a dance break hosted by Ian and Penny. We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable and close to the ElgarSuite where the dancing lessons were held. Food served in the restaurant was excellent and we particularly enjoyed our evening meals. Breakfasts were tasty, personally would have preferred Greek yoghurt/ walnuts and more healthy continental options. Staff were very friendly and attentive. My wife is disabled but mobile and she managed to get around the hotel. In our opinion access and the layout of the hotel would be challenging for people with more severe mobility difficulties. Hotel is ideally situated at the foot of the Malvern Hills and near lots of cafes and small shops.

Lovely overnight stay, not expensive, good full breakfast. Couldn't make WiFi work at night.

For us there is only one hotel to stay at when visiting Malvern and that is The Abbey. As ever, we have not been disappointed on this occasion and look forward to our next "treat".

Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was modern, clean, tidy and comfortable. The lounge bar was very quiet, comfortable and inviting with meals being available all day, plus a beautiful spacious restaurant downstairs. During our stay, we had to test our fitness by going on the Worcestershire Beacon Walk which is adjacent to the hotel. We were blown away with this beautiful historic hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

We enjoyed it stay at this hotel which is presented sympathetically within it's historic buildings. Room well equipped and comfortable. Staff very attentive and friendly.

A short stay last week. I had not visited Great Malvern for close to 20 years. Wonderful visit. Weather was poor but the town has a great energy and if anything the low cloud and mist added to the experience. The Abbey hotel is perfectly located in the town to explore. The service was great including front desk, bar and restaurant. The hotel itself sits within an attractive shell, which I only wish you got a better sense of when inside. The long corridors and slightly odd layout + basic rooms were fine and did not detract. The place for sure would benefit from modernization but I would still highly recommend and if offers good value for money.

Had a fabulous couple of nights here, hotel was super and the town of Great Malvern and the Malvern Hills were just what the doctor ordered! The town has lots of lovely coffee shops, bars and restaurants and the hotel is literally across the road from the steep climb to the hills. The hotel was a great mix of old and modern and the room was super comfy- we will definitely be back!

Attended a wedding reception here. A lovely hotel, friendly staff. Lovely location. The rooms (lobby, toilets and event room) were clean and fresh with a character to them. Can't comment on rooms as we didn't stop, but I will definitely keep this hotel in mind if the opportunity arises. Oh! The food was tasty, too! Buffet was filled with a great variety of nibbles. Filled a hole!

Great stay at the Abbey. Even if the bedroom was so hot in july. But we had 2 fans. Great service and breakfast. I will recommand it!

This is a great hotel in the Malvern Hills. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast offered a wide variety of breakfast items. The bar was comfortable and the drinks reasonable. The staff was excellent from making the reservation, answering questions before arrival, during the stay, and during checkout.

We stayed for two nights at the Abbey Hotel. This was our first trip to Malvern (beautiful town) and the hotel did not disappoint. The staff were very welcoming and organised an early check-in and an upgrade. We could not fault the food/drink. We stayed for a wedding on Saturday night and the food was incredible. The in-house DJ was excellent. A very enjoyable visit and we will stay at the Abbey Hotel again. Loved hearing the bells from the Priory peeling on Sunday morning. A completely lovely weekend. And those pillows!

Location is very good with easy parking at the hotel too. Only a couple of minutes walk to the centre with its great views, pubs and restaurants. We were in a room on second floor and one of the worst mattresses I’ve ever had to try and sleep on. The decor of the room was very dated and very, very tired. The receptionist wasn’t really interested as she asked me how was my stay I honestly replied very poor sleep due to awful mattress, she simply offered that I wait to tell the head housekeeper. Breakfast was OK but very basic standard fare buffet style and make your own toast and hot drinks so no service provided, overall not worth the £160 price tag. The hotel looks great from the front and the ground floor was decorated in keeping but after that it has most certainly seen better days.

The Abbey comes with great promise, but the experience was not quite up to the level we had expected. The hotel's location is excellent, very central and right next to the abbey. We received a very warm welcome by the friendly and attentive staff, and we also appreciated the free welcome drink (as we had booked directly). But we soon got the impression that the hotel felt a bit dated and in need of a face-lift. Our room was just OK. A bit annoying, though, that it was not possible to open the windows by more than just an inch. Bathroom a bit disappointing, with shower over bathtub. The hotel could be fabulous - and perhaps was in its heyday. But it felt that it hasn't quite kept up with time, which is a shame.

The room was small but neat. The shower area is not for you if you are claustrophobic. Dinner was very average. The Abbey attached to the property is ancient and a walk around is very much recommended.

My husband and I spent 1 night at The Abbey on our way to North Wales. It was a wonderfully comfortable break in our long journey. The food is delicious and they have a selection of non dairy milk, which is good. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely - clean and comfortable with all the things needed to make tea and coffee.

Could have been brilliant but we weren’t invited to the wedding with the thumping music. We just wanted a nice quiet hotel room. Cost a fortune to not sleep

We have stayed her maybe 20 times or more over the last 10 years or so and always found the Abbey be a superb venue, with excellent staff and facilities, and having just chosen to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary here - be sure we will be back again as soon as we can arrange the time off. My wife and I recently enjoyed a wonderful two night "Morgan Experience" break to celebrate my eighth birthday. We had a beautiful room overlooking the Priory and the Seven valley, comfortable sofa and bed and lovely bathroom. And, the visit to the Morgan factory was excellent. Thank you.

I stayed at the Abbey Hotel for a dance break and would thoroughly recommend it. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were all very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and the position of the hotel was fabulous being so close to the Abbey and town and also for walks. I would have scored a 5 but my single room was a little too small. However as I was on a dance weekend, I only had to go to my room to sleep. It was well equipped and the bathroom was quite large but there was very little space between bed and furniture and only a very tiny window. Otherwise everything else was excellent.

Perfect. One of the best hotels I've used.

Loved my time here but waiter kept coughing with his mouth open. Very nice guy but I think those serving food need masks esp if you have a cough. Front Desk girl was helpful, she helped with my suitcases.

We had a fabulous stay for 2 nights. First night we had a murder mystery night with a company called murder 57. What a great evening. Food was really good. We were on a great table with 3 other couples. Very good laugh and conversation. Breakfast was buffet style. But great. Set us up for the day. Great town is Great Malvern. Walked the North walk of the Malvern hills. Fantastic day weather wise. Saw for miles. Took about 3hrs at our leisure. Back to hotel for dinner before the theatre. Food was delicious 😋. The room was airy and plenty of space getting around, bathroom also spacious. Beds very comfortable. Easy express check out on line. All in all a fabulous stay. Defo go back

The Abbey is a very nice hotel with free parking and perfectly situated. The rooms I have found as I have been here before are always clean and well presented. The breakfasts are excellent and plentiful with lots of choice. The only issue I had was the Wifi and this was patchy at best. I was at the very end of the building this time and must have been on the edge of the range. Other than that, I cannot complain and would return again when visiting the area.

We had a fantastic stay.. a warm welcome, beautiful setting, excellent breakfast and lovely rooms that had a huge bed that was extremely comfortable. We actually came for the murder mystery event which was superb fun.
