River Severn Takeaway in Malvern Hills

So glad to find this gem on a Sunday evening. Quick service, generous portions, tasty hot food. What's not to like?! Son left his phone after we had waited for food, but he remembered after about 20 mins of leaving and was relieved and delighted to have it handed back to him with no bother.

Not been in for a while but expected good food as we always had experienced Unfortunately it is not what it used to be, vegetables appeared to be out of a tin, nothing tasted fresh. Very disappointing will not be going back

The portion size is huge Two portions feeds three easily but the flavor missing from takeout we had.

Utterly tasteless, watery and definitely not fresh. Chinese takeaways can be hit or miss... definitely give this one a miss.

Not the best Chinese I've had, the food we had we was both poorly, and this isn't the first time, we ordered some prawn crackers and only got half a bag same as the chips, definitely won't be going back, and the whole shop needs a deep clean as the shop front carpet is filthy so I dread to think what the back is like

New to the village, tried here tonight whilst the Blues Festival is on. What a great meal we had. The chicken chow mein was lovely. We will be back for more soon.

I stupidly collected a menu for future use when I collect our order. I takes a mistake to produce one bad course, it takes it to a new level to produce such bad quality food. Inedible chips , old dry chicken , ribs quickly half cooked with a sauce designed to turn clients immediately type 2 diabetic. Never have we eaten such terrible food. This may sound over stated but if you go there you won’t enjoy it, so don’t go!

Visiting a new town we wanted a takeaway meal. Decided to order from the River Severn Takeaway. We ordered the meal for four and were very impressed. There was plenty of food of very high quality.

It doesn't have much competition in Upton as it's the only Chinese Takeaway in the town. I boycotted it about 7 years ago as the new owners changed some dishes. When I heard it had changed hands again I tried it again, absolutely blown away and much better than the previous owner and better than the alternative I was using further away.

Lovely lady serving, always happy and smiling. Food always very nice and well cooked. Well done. We’re regulars and have pretty much the same order every time. Over the years we’ve found their cooking strengths and weaknesses !

Quite tasty... Very quick. Portion sizes are very generous. Most importantly... their food tastes very fresh and even after a 4 mile drive back home it was hot. This was my first time but won't be the last.

We had a special chow mein which was huge lemon chicken and sezchuan beef all were superb if you are on holiday here I recommend it.

We often have a meal from this takeaway; the latest was a meal for three. The spare ribs were excellent and the portions generous. The staff are always friendly and the food is always ready at the time agreed

Brilliant, consistent Chinese food. Always well prepared, large portions and great value. No need to over order. The Singapore Vermicelli is our fave, dry fried quality ingredients, with a spicy curry flavoured taste. Great Service all round.

Friday’s are takeaway nights for us and this time we thought we’d have Chinese. I ordered the chicken red Thai curry, but oh what a disappointment when it arrived. Now I’m not a fussy eater at all, I’ll pretty much eat anything and not complain, but this dish was something else! What was presented was some weird rubbery chicken in an almost translucent ‘sauce’ that tasted of nothing. When I say nothing, I mean nothing, there was no taste at all, zero, it was identical to thickened water! We’ll never use this establishment again...

A really good chines take away. Lovely food, friendly staff, propmt service and good portions. The choice is huge too on the menu. Very definitely a firm favourite, and always getting take away from there.

Never had a bad meal from here. Tasty food and Friendly staff. It's cash only which can be a bit of a pain but other than that I can't really say anything bad about the place and I've had many meals from here over the last few months.

Great Fish and Chip Shop located in a very lovely town. The food was of great quality and a short amble to the Riverside to enjoy a lovely tea with a great backdrop!! Love it!

This feels like a very basic chinese take-away. No particular extras, just a straight forward menu and a straight-forward service, with good food as a result. No frills, but none required. Will definitely use again.

Lovely Chinese takeaway. Never been disappointed with any of the takeaways I have had. The staff are always friendly and warm and I love their food - a go to at the weekend to watch a film and settle down on the sofa. They really do great food.

Called in on Friday night during the course of the Upoton Blues Festival. Food was excellent. Service friendly, pricing very reasonable and portions more than ample. It was nice to see a business that didn't inflate its prices because the festival was on.Enjoyed it so much, when back on Sunday night too.

Love this place, I don't eat from as often as I'd like to but whenever Chinese is mentioned I can't wait to get there and choose from the menu As with most Chinese takeaways selection is always varied but here at River Severn there is always a little something the staff are prepared to do so that your meal is to your liking, whether it be extra hot or not so hot I go back time after time because of flavour and the staff are helpful and friendly not to mention value for money. I certainly would recommend this place if you fancy a good Chinese

CASH ONLY BUSINESS???? -- Ask for a vat receipt - if they no then you know they are avoiding tax and letting you pay their share of taxes for hospitals and the like .

Food cold and lady serving was rude

Ordered dry ribs, got some gristly ribs with most of the meat pared off in a sauce which looked like wallpaper paste with red streaks in it. could it get worse - er YES , I binned the ribs and started on the Chop Suey I had.

We ordered here when we were staying locally, the food was good value and quite tasty. I especially loved the spring rolls! I've made a note of them so I know to order again if I'm ever in the area.

The soup we ordered was very disappointing but the rice with mixed meats made up. It was very good. They are quick and very polite.

Having not been to the river severn take away for a number of years I decided to give it another go.

We have used this takeaway many times. We have never been disappointed. They have allowed us to do a substitution in a set meal with my wife being pescatatian. They do not take cards for payment so be prepared.

Lovely food! We ordered lots of different dishes and they were all delicious. Great value for money and easy to find too!

He intentado llevar de muchas y diferentes restaurantes chinos y este sigue siendo mi favorito firme. Buen trabajo es mi local! Las tostadas de sésamo gambas es estupendo, encantador y delicioso pan de gambas, chow meins y en mi opinión el mejor dulce y agria pollo! Sin duda recomendaría a cualquiera para una comida para llevar.

Llegamos en nuestro barco de un domingo por la tarde, todo estaba cerrado para comer en que tenía espacio o nos queríamos ir a. Terminamos por conseguir comida para llevar china y lo llevó de vuelta al barco. Fue muy agradable. Todos nosotros compartimos el 5 comida para 4. Había un montón y el pato y tortitas inicial tenía un montón de pato. Muy bonito. Los platos principales estaban muy sabrosos. Usted no será decepcionado con la comida china.

Han estado usando este para llevar 2 años ahora, por lo menos. mensual Nunca esperamos más de 5 minutos el mejor para mi comida, servicio amable, comida encantadora barra consistentemente bueno.. Todos estamos de acuerdo en que la última noche fue especialmente impresionante!! Abierto 6 noches a la semana... una pena no es un fin en lunes, como los chicos me encantaría un chino después del entrenamiento de fuego! Este lugar no tiene competencia en upton y aún mantiene sus niveles de capacidad aún. Bien hecho!! Continuaré enviar mi pensión los huéspedes allí.

My family and I have used this Chinese takeaway for many years. It's a fantastic take away and offers good value for money. The food is fantastic and so I won't use any other Chinese!!

We live locally and go here regularly for takeaways - always great food in generous portions. I particularly love the ribs and crispy duck. Mmmm. Makes me hungry.

Situated on the main road towards Gloucester you have to be looking to spot this frontage. However, it is worth spotting as, of its type, the food is very good. We had read the reviews on tripadvisor and based on these decided to try it.The interior is typical oriental takeaway with a small waiting area with a high counter at the far end which leads through to the kitchen. The menu is displayed on the one wall, and on the counter and is not very different to any other of its genre. However, the service is pleasant with English well spoken and the food surprisingly quickly prepared and served - there again it was not busy while we were there.We ordered 4 different dishes and each of them was very good, without being brilliant, but certainly of a standard that means we will be going back. The main thing that struck us was the value for money. Although these takeaways are never extortionately expensive (outside the M25) this one is excellent value when you consider the quality of the cooking.

We went tonight as a family treat. Ordered two of the two person specials and they very kindly swapped a couple of the choices for something different which I doubt is normal practise but was very kindly accomodated. 45 quid to feed a family of 7 with leftovers for breakfast! Tasty food. Nothing appeared reheated and service fantastic. Well worth it! It's the only chinese in Upton and they're not letting anyone down. There's nothing complacent about it at all. Brilliant.

Only chinese in upton, we were on holiday here and are always a bit shy of chinese takeaways we dont know as had some bad ones but this is not one of them. We ordered too much as didnt expect portions to be so big, chicken chowmein was the best i ever had and it was all freshly cooked and delicous so much so we went again on anothere eve.

A really excellent little takeaway. Fast polite service, freshly cooked look and taste and all round quality. We had the Cantonese Style sweet & sour chicken, Vermicelli rice noodles, crispy beef and roast duck in plum sauce. All were really excellent, especially the duck. You won't better this Chinese in the area.
