The 19th Hole in Fife

Arrived with 8 people for Saturday lunch at 12.30 to find it shut. No notice or reason given for closure. Automated response to telephone call (leave a message and we'll get back to you); no one did. Saturday opening hours 12.00 - 21.00 (website). What's going on?

Excellent dinner and super friendly service in this pub / restaurant. Lots of different areas to eat in . Many fish dishes on the menu. All our group were pleased with the choices. Sole goujons a favourite.

Staff extremely rude. Felt very unwelcome. Been before and loved it but the staff were very unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable. Will definitely revisit but hope staff are nicer.

Horrible staff. Ordered dinner and after waiting an hour they abused my 80 year old mother for asking why our food took so long. They need some lessons in hospitality. We walked out.

What an amazing night my family and I had last Sunday. Booked a table for 13(when booking a large table they take deposit of £10 which we were happy to pay). Not a big pub so was worried about access but no step on entrance, room to use my electric chair,tables not crammed together. Lead to a private room by Jenny and Ellie,they were really lovely, took our drinks order quickly,very efficient. Food order was served all together really hot,cooked to perfection. Only one chef. we were all delighted with our choices,food was really tasty,no one complaint. Tempura Praws top starter. Fish and chips, Steak in whisky sauce top main meal. Has a lovely meal and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We had not booked but were able to get a table. Food was lovely and piping hot and flavoursome. Pudding was delicious too. Will return

Where do they get their waiting staff? No interest, a bit untidy(dirty shoes), and only interested in chatting with other people who were obviously locals. Food basic, noisy t.v., no ambience. Would NOT recommend

Nothing great about here. It’s Ok but for the money it isn’t great value, either for what is on offer, or for service. On the first visit one our party had an apple dessert. It was a flat, tasteless and what looked to be uncooked pastry, with an absence of apples. For £9 it got sent back to the kitchen but the chef had gone home. We gave the pub another go and it was Margo better. The staff aren’t particularly engaging and the food is over-priced for its quality.

We had dinner in the 19th with friends one night and just two of us another night - all spot-on. Great pub grub - fish and chips is always a winner, curries are nicely done and there's a good few veggie dishes on offer. Staff are great and go the extra mile to arrange a table in the bar area that's easiest for me wheelchair into.

Four adults on a Saturday night made reservation for evening meal. Both pub and restaurant were very busy on arrival, but we were seated promptly with a friendly greeting. Large choice on menu for all tastes with good Scottish fare all across the selections. Menu can be a bit confusing with all the different sections named after golfing terms, but all four of us managed to find starters and main courses that we were going for. Overall, excellent meal, service and very reasonable priced. We are local so will be visiting again!

Nice place located on a scenic area. Watch out if ordered steak as no price on menu, paid £30 for a sirloin I would say was not worth the money. Food was good and staff helpful.

So four of us for lunch today plus our dog. Two fish & chips, one steak pie and one half kilo ribs. Two white wines, two gin and tonics, one pint and two fizzy waters. Total bill including tip £110. Fish and chips and steak pie where all very good. The challenge was the ribs as it was almost impossible to eat them. Firstly they filled the plate as they were very large bones, so no room to work as I discovered when my handful of chips and onion ring went onto the table! I did ask for a steak knife but even that could not separate the ribs. I gave up after a few ribs. Usually good ribs can be separated with your figures. The only way you are eating these ribs is if the chef chops them Up prior to leaving the kitchen. They were tasty with a nice BBQ sauce. Anyway eventually I gave up and eat the small portion of chips, one onion ring and half corn on cob. Also the serving staff did not provide napkins until asked and there were no wipes , very messy. I did give feedback and with hindsight I should have sent it back at the start. However afterwards no apology given or offer of removing from bill anything. Anyway next time I will have the fish. I do suggest the owner or manager tries eating them to see if they agree with my feedback.

The 19th is a great little bar with a separate dining space and some tables in the bar. We'd booked ahead and had a lovely big table at the window. Coincidentally we all had the same dinner choices - mozarella & tomato starter followed by panko-crumbed fish'n'chips - all delicious ! We sampled a beer or two, enjoyed some wine and coffee in a relaxed atmosphere. The team looking after us are great fun & sorted wheelchair entry/access for me.

What a gem the 19th Hole is. We booked a table which we were pleased we did as this place is popular even on a Wednesday evening. The food was delicious- home made, my elderly mum was pleased that they offer small portions. The desert special was Banoffee cheesecake which was delicious. The staff are very friendly and we would certainly be returning next time we are in the area.

Have eaten in the restaurant numerous times before so booked a family meal to go just before New Year and was really disappointed in the food that was served, nothing up to the standards we have been used to. What finished for me was the fact they had dispensed cheap chip shop tomato ketchup into Heinz bottles that were obviously old had been used time and time again. Would think twice about going back again!

This place offers food - but staff totally ignored all of our party as we tried to get served. Tried waiting in the ‘dining area’, going to the bar- to be totally ignored by staff too busy chatting. Terrible impression of Scottish hospitality for my quests !!

We had full on Sunday Dinner, great choices of meats plenty of veg to choose from with all the extra trimming of meal (sauces stuffing crackling) My meat choice of Turkey was succulent and tasty same for Beef and Gammon. Nice Venue friendly staff Best Sunday Lunch out by far

Me & my husband came here for our tea I had steak pie I thought it was too much for me it was very nice though I felt the chips where a bit dry for me my husband had lasagne & salad he enjoyed his too we couldn't manage a pudding but the pudding menu looked really good

So many positives: location, food etc but the service was so poor that if I were the chefs I'd be fuming. Front of house is very poor. We booked for 4 people and were placed in possibly the worst table jammed by the kitchen and the walkway despite it being relatively empty at 6:30pm. The girl serving us was out of her depth and clearly had little or no training. She didn't even know what guest ales were. The food was very good (but don't order coleslaw!!) it's a rip off and not homemade. The portions are good and it's reasonably priced both for food and drinks but sort the front of house out, just a smile and an attentive how are you getting along goes a long way. The menu on their website isn't current, that's shocking to be honest, it's misrepresentation as we intended to go for a couple of things that weren't even on the menu. That's your marketing material you cant claim to be serving something then not have it and say "oh its old". It deserved 4* for the food but got a 3* for the rubbish service, table and miss-selling on the website.

We dropped in on the off chance of getting a table. The manager was very friendly and said we could have the window table. It was really busy but the young waitress Erin, was friendly, fast and efficient. She took our order while we had a drink, the food arrived not long afterwards. The Chef, Robert, is such a nice guy and what a great cook he is, nothing is too much trouble. I have a delicate stomach so have to watch where and what I eat, but I’ve never had any problems on the occasions we’ve had dinner here. All in all it’s always a pleasure eating at the 19th Hole, the staff are welcoming and friendly and make your visit special. Thanks to all for a lovely afternoon.

Party of 12 for birthday celebration and most definitely did not disappoint!! We were offered the choice to pre-order which we were more than happy to do as gave more time to relax and enjoy the company, staff happy to go that extra mile and couldn’t fault the food in any way, so glad we chose this award winning restaurant, we can’t wait to come back!

What a dreadful disappointment. They overbooked and my family and in-laws (7 of us) had to sit outside in the cold for our celebration (15th wedding anniversary). No warning until we turned up. Beware.

Me and my partner called in Sunday afternoon to a packed pub and restaurant. It was 4 years since we last visited from south Manchester. The lovely lady Jordan greeted us and gave us a table. We booked there and then to eat the very next day on Monday evening. On arrival Scott did all the obligatory covid stuff signing in etc then showed us to our table. Nothing was too much trouble with him and he is a credit to the establishment. It's so nice to be waited-on by genuine friendly staff and this includes the young lady Holly too. The food was really nice and I would say above-average. We will be back. Thank you.

We were a party of 5 who booked a table for dinner on the 5th Sept.When we arrived we were asked to fill in the track and trace form as we expected to do under the circumstances. I had the Fish Chips and Peas which came well presented and tasted good. I was not sure if the staff had to wear face coverings so as they were not I can't comment.

This place was excellent! The staff were warm, friendly and attentive - and all necessary precautions were taken to keep us safe and comfortable in these new social distancing times!I personally had the chicken curry and it was utterly delicious - my husband had it with prawn instead and he also loved it.Another member of our party had the beef burger and said it was the best they’d had in a long time. On a quick chat with the staff we discovered all the ingredients are sourced locally which I love! But more than anything the food was just so tasty. I would highly recommend a trip here for dinner and drinks!

Dreadful experience tonight at the 19th Hole. Very aggressive and officious staff. The manager decided to supplement the hostility with shouting, arguing and extreme unpleasantness. Neanderthal approach to customer service. Examples: “put your mask on!” “Don’t stand up!” “Sit down!” “Name, number!” “All of you!”. Barking orders at customers in a near empty pub. Before my experience I listened to an elderly asthmatic gentleman being told to ‘mask up’ if he wanted entry. Who owns this place now? Not for long, I hope. Please don’t ever invite me back.”

Don and I were invited to this jewel by his brother Geoff - a locally known celebrity! What a terrific choice for lunch! We were nervous about CV-19 and took our own anti bac ! No need! The restaurant had all under control , including an anti bac gel after pressing the buttons for card payment! All that aside, the main joy was luncheon! The food was exquisite and cooked to perfection - hot and fresh! The service was second to none. This place is magnificent!

Along with a few friends we visited the 19th hole in Elie on Saturday 5th Sept for a superb lunch following a lovely walk along the beach. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend!

Couldn't wait to get back and sample the king prawn in batter starter with chilli sauce,absolutely love it. Fantastic chunky steak pie but sadly didn't have room for a dessert. Great meal, affordable, friendly staff, very covid aware. Thanks 19th hole for a lovely evening (again)

On arrival we were shown to a table beside the open kitchen which felt more like a cafe, would have preferred a seat at the front. Ordered the haggis bonbons which were delicious, the bangers and mash (very tasty) and the chilli which was a mistake. The portion of chilli barely covered the bottom of the bowl. On ordering I was asked if I wanted guacamole OR salsa as an accompaniment and as much as the guacamole was good both would have been more appropriate. Our nice waitress said they had other complaints about the chilli and removed this item from the bill when we complained. The red wine we had was lovely and the rest of the meal was faultless so would give the place another try but stay clear of the chilli. Service was friendly and welcoming.

Went for a meal with my wife for my retirement expecting something really nice ,what a disappointment.Ushered to a little back room which resembles a basic cafe!Ordered starter o haggis bon bons which Istruggled to get my knife through almost ended up on the floor Then got our main course I had fillet steak my wife had the steak pie with potatoes.Steak was just warm mushrooms and tomatoes were cold chips tasted burnt or reheated,my wife’s steak pie beef was cold as were the vegetables .We were asked if meal was ok and said NO so manager came out and we said to him but nothing done no apology or anything paid full bill and left !!Definitely won’t be back!!We have a holiday home at shell bay and lots of friends whom we will be sharing our experience with!!!

Lovely place to have food. Huge portions and the service was excellent. Absolutely spotless also. My only gripe is that sadly the menu doesn’t really have much choice for Vegetarian or Vegan diners.

Went for a visit with some friends. Ended up getting food and some drinks the portion sizes were excellent and the service from our waitress courtney was exquisite. Once in a life time service courtney did all she could to make sure we had the perfect night. Thank you courtney and the rest of the 19th hole staff for making us feel welcomed and making us feel as though things are back to normal.

Unfortunately it's only open for takeaways at this time due to Covid restrictions but we can still highly recommend the food. Excellent fish and chips served by lovely local staff. Would love to return when we're allowed to visit the inside of the bar/restaurant.

We had a delicious delivery from this fantastic restaurant tonight. We ordered in the afternoon, it arrived bang on time...and it was delicious! We were not disappointed and will certainly recommend and use their service again.

We have been self isolating for he last 2 weeks and so a meal to brighten us up was what was needed. My food shopping is limited, I am still waiting out the 3 weeks for an online delivery so we really enjoyed a boost. Delivery time was no bother, and was on time and brought with a smile. We are all most impressed as the second time I also ordered for my neighbours. ( I might add that they ate in their home not ours!!)Delivery is free, VERY reasonably priced, delicious food. Please support our local restaurant as at this time of crisis we need to stand by them. My 3 year old son and I spent 3 nights in Elie recently and treated ourselves to dinner at The 19th Hole each night. The food was delicious, good children’s menu and the staff were warm and welcoming. Also extremely patient in dealing with the demands of a toddler who believes the world revolves around him. Thanks so much for the hospitality. We will be back next time we are in the area.

Having visited before and had friendly reception , including with our dog, we were looking forward to our return visit. Arrived to met by a dour faced girl. She puffed out quiet loudly which added to her whole body language indication that we were bothering her. Despite it being very quiet told us we cold have a table but only till 5. offered no further expanantion or alternative so we didnt inconvenience her any longer and left. I believe this place has changed ownership recently so I hope the new owners take note. I wont be back

We were visiting Elie and out a walk so popped in for a drink. When we walked into the empty bar the girl that was serving stared at us as if we were an inconvenience. I asked the girl if we could sit at a table for drinks and after she looked at her diary she said we could sit there until 5pm (it was 4.15). I understand that places have reserved tables but I’m sure that she could have found us another table in the empty pub. Anyway we left without having anything. Not the warm welcome advertised on the website!

Arrived at 2.20 pm on Saturday 17th January. Place not busy with around a dozen customers in. The four of us were seated at two circular tables next to each other.Took at least 10 minutes for our table to get cleared of the previous occupants plates.Asked the girl who was in the process of taking the plates away, what the soup of the day was? She said oh we are really busy with 3 tables getting food and i don't think we will be able to serve you. Really! i only want two plates of soup, how hard is that?Anyway we decided to finish our drinks and try somewhere else.Five minutes later two young men came in and sat down and were then handed a menu by the same girl who said the kitchen was too busy to serve up two bowls of soup! I get the distinct feeling that the locals get a better service than others?Really disappointed at this as we have been here many times before and everything has been exceptional.We left and headed for The Ship Inn, where the welcome was far warmer and we were able to order food.The 19th Hole lost four customers on Saturday and in this current climate, that's not great.

Booked a table for lunch on New Year's Eve. Was given the impression that they were very busy but could just squeeze us in. Far from it as became apparent; most tables were laid up but empty. The fresh battered haddock was the worst we have ever had in the East Neuk (where it is a specialty).Almost no fish but lashings of batter. Very limited selection of desserts. The dining seats were very badly worn, low and most uncomfortable. Not sure who is running the pub/restaurant now; we are not going to return until there's been a change for the better.

Me and my wife came on our annervisary and the staff couldn't be any nicer. My wife has ibs and the chef bent over backwards to help us give her a great meal ie we had the prawns and he made a dip that wouldnt upset my wife .
