Visited for the first time to sample a Sunday carvery. The food was amazing. My wife is vegetarian and they also catered for her - very kind to provide veggie gravy and nut roast. Staff friendly and service very good. Highly recommend.

Slow service due to waiter/barman being on his own. We wouldn’t have minded the long wait from ordering to receiving food if both our meals were nice. However whilst the lamb burger was good the aloo chatt was not - the paneer cheese was overcooked and rock hard. We had to ask for cutlery so this was another wait whilst our food sat on the table. No napkins provided. Ambiance was pleasant and the waiter was friendly.

We have been camping annually on site for ten plus years and cannot recommend highly enough. We would just like to say we ate here twice this weekend and the food was great, but the carvery we ate today was outstanding and great value for money. Meats, veggies and Roasties were fresh, hot and delicious... Yorkies home made...Cauli cheese was immense. Well done to all the staff for their great attitude and attention to detail.

We arrived after a few years away and we were not disappointed! The carvery was full of flavour and well presented. The kitchen staff, who served the carvery, are friendly and they share a laugh with the customers and each other alike, you don’t often see this in establishments now. It’s refreshing. Four choices of meat, all of which were delicious! It’s very clear to me that the staff work hard and are willing to help as much as they can. Sarah leads the team well and we were welcomed with a smile and friendly manner. We have recommended this place to most of friends and family!

We have had a carvery here several times now! Our hoomans love it because the food and the beer is outstanding . We love it as it is so dog friendly. We get spoilt by all of the staff and get biscuits off them all. The staff there even look after us when our hoomans go up to the carvery to get their food. We have to say, the chipolatas were delicious!

We attended for new years eve dinner which was outstanding. Great choice on the menu , so we had scallops cooked to perfection followed by pork loin for my wife and beef rib for me. Cheese plate and lemon meringue baked alaska for dessert. Food was well presented, beautifully cooked and good portion size. Service was attentive without being over bearing and nothing was too much trouble for the team. Well stocked bar with real ale and selection of premium lagers, cider and pale ale. We had a fantastic night and met some lovely people. Thank you for a wonderful evening. We'll be back soon. Albert and Gertie xx (

As someone who has worked in this industry for 6 years, I understand wanting to go home on a Saturday night after a long day… however, being rude to customers telling them to hurry up and finish their drink? To the point where you are taking away a non-empty glass? That’s a no. You call last orders, expect people to get another and take their time. Especially if it’s a party/group booking! It wasn’t even midnight and we were being shoved out the door so they could lock up. My friends who had dinner sent multiple plates back as their food was cold. Seems standards have really dropped recently.

We have visited before and loved it so we decided to take our in-laws and we celebrated my upcoming birthday tomorrow. Unfortunately the visit was extremely disappointing. They were understaffed and extremely disorganised. We were sat at our table and were never asked for drinks, we were just sat there waiting. I had to get up and go and find someone to give them my drinks order. The drinks then took around 15 mins to be bought over to the table. When I went to get my carvery - I asked for pork. When I went over to the condiments/sauce station I noticed there was no apple sauce. So .. I asked for some. 3 members of staff then had a conversation about whether they had any. They all seemed really puzzled? They told me they didn’t have any. Whilst I went to the serving area I watched a female member of staff eat some meat behind the carvery station and she made a joke and said “ahh just testing it” I found her extremely unprofessional and I also saw her drinking what was quite possibly a mug of coffee/tea a little later into the visit whilst we had been sitting waiting for our plates to be cleared. She was acting as though there was nothing to do? I believe she may have been the supervisor 😳 The table next to us got up and left after they’d eaten and they hadn’t had their plates cleared. I had to ask for our plates to be cleared. I also asked for more drinks to which they were dumped on the end of the table. Once the plates had finally been cleared, we sat and waited “again” with the hope that we were going to be offered desserts? .. so I got up AGAIN to go and ask. I was then told they weren’t offering desserts today? 🤷🏼♀️ even though there were various dessert menus spread out around the restaurant on nearby tables? They could offer us ice cream in cardboard pots with wooden spoons built in with the lid? I then had to get up AGAIN to go and ask for the bill. That then took another 10 minutes! The staff took no care and attention towards us throughout the whole visit. Needles to say it was embarrassing and such a shame because we wanted the same experience we’d had once before. The food was delicious but the service and attitudes and work ethic of the staff were very very poor. Won’t be visiting again.

Booked a table but didn’t need to although was told on arrival at campsite, I would be best to as it was very busy. Cannot fault the restaurant very nice inside. Started by the menu, now I know a lot of places have limited choices but 5 mains isn’t very much of a choice at & all very basic & I felt expensive for what was on offer. I had scampi which consisted of 8 small pieces, hand cut chips , which did look overdone, mushy peas. My husband had a Cajun chicken burger & fries, again nothing special, yet £15 for scampi was ludicrous, we didn’t opt for any desserts as I believe these were around £8.50. Our bill for no more than a basic meal & not much of it with a couple of drinks £53!! The service started ok but after the meal we sat for a good half an hour waiting for someone to come back but nothing, so my husband had to go & pay the bill, I wouldn’t have minded but they were hardly rushed if their feet. It’s a shame as the place is very nice but we chose not to eat their again for one the prices & lack of choice & service.

Although we have stayed at the adjoining caravan site many times (excellent) , we have never eaten at the restaurant . Our party of 4 adults , two grandchildren, had a great meal . It was Sunday lunch, choice of three meats and as much vegetables as you could eat. Huge Yorkshire puddings. The service was very adequate, and all food was well cooked. Especially if you are hungry the self service of vegetables was very welcome. So thank you to all at the restaurant, we will definitely visit again, probably eat mid week with the main menu., which looked very encouraging.

Thursday night, only 2/3 tables were occupied. Service was slow, ordered at 6.15, was served at 7.10. We had no starters. One of the meals didn’t arrive so was quite late, ok we wasn’t charged for it, even so! My daughters prawn curry was no more than a starter costing £18.50, about 6 prawns and rice that was lumpy, it looked and was unpleasant, no accompaniment or naan. My chicken burger was overcooked with dismal fries. Had to go to the staff to order wine. Avoid. Certainly shall not go back until there’s a vast improvement. Better

I went for a mid-week lunch at the 12 Lost Churches whilst staying at the onsite campsite. With just three tables of two, including the better half and me, it was very quiet during my visit. It’s a good job my wife has a habit of cutting her burgers in half before eating as it was raw in the middle and had to be sent back for further cooking. When I go out for lunch with my wife I like to actually eat at the same time as her rather than us both eating on our own whilst the other watches. I totally understand mistakes happen in stressful busy kitchens but it was pretty much dead on our visit so I struggle to see what went wrong. The chap serving behind the bar and taking the orders spent more time out the back or in the kitchen (or elsewhere) than behind the bar available to service the customers. This was a pain when I had to go searching for him to get the raw burger cooked a bit more, but actually saved me money as it restricted the amount of drinks I bought. A desert would have been nice though. At £15.50 for a basic and small burger, fist full of skinny fries (that are clearly bought in and freezer to fryer jobbies) and a small pot of homemade coleslaw my lunch was pretty expensive and not good value for money. Given my experience I cannot and would not recommend the 12 Lost Churches restaurant, which is a shame since the nearest alternative is in Dunwich.

It would have been a 5 however the young lady who seated us and took our drinks order did not explain at any point how the carvery worked so we sat for a while wondering if we just went up or waited to be told to go up in the end we had to find someone to ask. Visited here a couple of times on our latest trip to their caravan touring park and were certainly not disappointed. The bar area is good, but quite small considering the size of the park. We have visited before and it can be very busy at high season, but additional seating is available outside. At this time of year however, it is very relaxed but you still need to book a table if you are looking to eat at weekends. The staff are very friendly and attentive, the food and beer great - what more can you ask for. Mains are about £13 and puds £4.50, beer reasonable too. There are also options for vegetarians.

Unfortunately the restaurant manager was a very rude and arrogant person and the lady Who I believe ran the bar was the same. We felt so upset at her attitude that we finished our drinks and left. Will definitely go back to Cliff House but stay away from 12 churches. We enjoy a drink but we won’t be doing it there again.

We took our grandson ( aged 12 - massive appetite!) for lunch here as had been highly recommended by a friend. Wow what a wonderful lunch it was too. The meats ( choice of pork, beef and turkey ) were melt-in-your-mouth gorgeous - accompanied by the most amazing amount of choice of beautifully cooked vegetables along with the biggest Yorkshire puds I have ever seen!

I’ve always meant to try the 12 Lost Churches but only made it yesterday evening whilst meeting an old friend. It really is an amazing venue with a quite unassuming entrance. Beautifully designed with clearly separate area for drinking and dining but cleverly linked. The bar area has little booths for a feeling of privacy and only gripe is they are a little snug!

Last ate at 12 Lost Chruches about four years ago and it's still good. Generous choice and portions of usual carvery fayre, wide selection of vegetables etc. Apparently the desserts were good too, although I didn't have room... Look forward to returning when next in that area.

What a lovely place. We were staying in the Cliff House camp site so decided to give this on site pub/restaurant a go. We weren’t disappointed. Great staff and amazing food. We had home made hummus to start followed by an enormous plate of fish and chips and a lovely curry. The night finished off with an amazing cheesecake.

The restaurant has be remodelled since we last visited. It has been completed to a very high standard and the seating 'booths' make for a very sophisticated dining experience as does the decor. We had lunch in the bar area which was very nice. I had the Tuna Melt Panini and cup of soup (Parsnip and Apple) all of which was delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. A great place to eat.

We booked for new years eve back in July 2018 and were certainly not disappointed. As always, we were welcomed by polite and professional staff. Hats off to you all!! The refurbishment of the restaurant looks fabulous. All in all we had a great rocking new year's eve.

I took 40 people to this restaurant. On arrival we had a lovely warm welcome from Andy the owner. The venue was spotlessly clean and looking beautifully festive. The food was amazing and plentiful. The staff were not only friendly but so helpful. I would definitely recommend this venue

This is my first review, however my visit to the 12 Lost churches have left me outraged and disgusted and feel the need to warn other visitors. We had seen positive reviews for the site and had been looking forward to our visit, only to be sat with my wife and children to hear quite loudly and openly a discussion about a member of staffs `previous life'. I don't feel It's necessary to put any details of this discussion on here, but lets put it this way, it's left me and my wife with a very difficult discussion to be had with our children. We left feeling uncomfortable and angry when such a beautifully situated cosy restaurant was let down by outrageous talk by staff, and some to what I can only assume to be customers. I hope that this can be dealt with promptly so that other parents don't have to sit down and have this discussion with their children.

We have visited the bar a few times now but have never got round to sampling the food. So on our last visit, we thought we would book a table and give it a go. Well......... we were not disappointed. The wait was minimal, the service was exceptional and the food was amazing. The portion sizes we so very generous we had no room left for dessert All in all, a thoroughly tasty, enjoyable evening.

Superb food. Help yourself carvery 3 choices of meat. Service with a smile. Had steak and was cooked to perfection( best I’ve had in a long while) Only complaint I had was children running back and forth from the play area making lots of noise.

I would like to firstly say what a convenient restaurant for people using the campsite and how relaxing it was to sit and have a coffee while the children play in the park. Our first experience was of a very helpful barman but unfortunately at our second visit after asking when we could order and then waiting for the hour until that time we were then told that we would have to book a table. We wished they had said before as it was then too late to get food anywhere else. The most disappointing visit however was later in the holiday. I am honestly shocked that a manager of what looks and felt like a wonderful place to be can respond in such a negative and quite honestly bullying way. It is utterly disgusting how he is treating people in his restaurant and also in his responses to anything slightly negative on trip advisor. I have never come across anything like it. The food wasn’t bad the cleanliness was good, the staff were mostly friendly and helpful but we will now avoid this restaurant and are very likely to avoid the campsite due to his behaviour. We arrived on holiday to enjoy our friends and young children and were met by an abrupt, rude and unkind man. (Everything we are constantly trying to bring our children up not to be) in front of our large party including 9 children it was obvious he didn’t want such a group in his restaurant. There were some crossed wires with our booking which we apologised for but were met with extremely abrupt and rude comments “I’m only doing snacks, you can’t all eat, you’ll have to wait.” The negative reviews and his responses will give you an insight in to his manner. The final straw was when I tried to explain to the waitress what had happened; she continued to turn to another one of our party and smile sarcastically as not to acknowledge my explanation. An absolute disgraceful way to treat anybody let alone a customer. We completely understand we are a big party with lots of (well behaved) children but were treated in an absolutely awful way. I can not believe he is getting away with treating poleople like this and I would not reccomend the 12 churches because I would not want anyone else to be treated in this way.

Eight of us who were staying at Cliff House ate here and we're served by Millie who was very attentive, drinks arrived quickly and the timings for courses was perfect. The fish and chips was very good as was the burger. The food was excellent and I would recommend the restaurant to others.

My partner and I ate here on Saturday 19th May, 2018. We were staying overnight on the campsite. We arrived at the 12 lost churches pub at 3pm, we didn't realize that the cafe closed at 3pm but the staff were very helpful and said no problem, they would still get us some food. Then again we ate in the restaurant in the evening, once again the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, the food was excellent, I had ceaser salad, my partner had vegetarian burger, everything was so good including the service, I would definitely recommend the 12 lost churches and hope to eat here again.

Visited Monday and was really happy with our visit. The food was great, it was nice to see something different, there was a lot of effort put into the menu and lots of options. We ordered two soft drinks, the Mexican flatbread and fishfinger wrap, both of which were excellent and very fresh: I wouldn't be surprised if the tartare sauce was made from scratch. We sat outside with our dog and the views were lovely, toilets were clean and staff polite, I couldn't fault anything really. Will return when next in the area.

I’ve read some of the reviews and it seems that expectations have a lot to do with the comments. I know what to expect and I like it. If you want slick – don’t go. If you want real - then go. If you want a place where people go because they know each other – then go. I’ve had some good conversations about local events and places with the lady and gentleman who run it. Food and drink are fine – it might not suit everyone to see your breakfast cooked in view. Suits me fine.
