There’s a reason this place is empty! Unfortunately, an all round terrible dinner. The staff were very inattentive, we asked for tap water and all the tables around us had a jug but we got given water in cobra glasses! The food was cold, biryani just dumped on a small plate and very bland. The manager simply said oh sorry when we questioned this. Not once were asked how the food was etc… Would not recommend to be honest. Much better options else where

This must be the worst Indian food I’ve ever tasted in my years on this Earth. I should have known from the radioactive orange colour of the chicken tikka masala; it was unbelievably sweet, and the chicken had the texture, of what I would expect those rubbery chickens in a toy store to taste like. The rice was 100% non-authentic and the entire meal looked like it came from a store bought pack, yet tasted even worse than you could imagine. I’ve never wanted to go back to a restaurant and demand a refund before; I opted not to because I did not want to waste another moment in that restaurant. This explains why I did not see one single person in that restaurant. Stay away.

Very disappointed with Thali ho, been ordering from them for the last 3 years but recently they seriously cut on meat in their curries and flavours are not the same. Last two orders had tiny pieces of lamb not nice decent size as used to be. Had to call and ask where is my order as no updates provided. Won't be ordering again from Thali again unless they get back the way they used to be.

Food…. Nope No authentic Indian flavour and the Hyderabadi biriyani tasted like the instant biriyani we buy from supermarket and samosa chat is ok but for the price we can find better food

We've been going to Thali ho for 5 years or more and it's still or fave place to eat out

Really disappointed. Ordered online at 6.30pm. Delivery scheduled for 7.15pm. Called at 7.45 asking for an update. Female who answered said food was out for delivery with 1 other order. Called back again at 8pm. Same person answered, still no apology. I asked to speak to the manager. As I was waiting the food turned up. I kept waiting to speak to the manager. They hung up on me at 8.10pm. £50 worth of lukewarm, pretty tasteless food and a double dose of rudeness. Do yourself a favour and order from Moksha or Roz Ana.

Very disappointing delivery, the mains which let down the daal, naans and rice. Small portion of over cooked chicken in too much, flavourless sauce - very disappointed and poor value.

If you are looking for Indian food, it's not the right choice. Although ambience and atmosphere is good.

Simply the best Indian food in the area. Easy to order order online, super friendly and easy collection, and great quality food. Will be reordering again!

Visited on a very busy Saturday. Staff were welcoming and friendly, restaurant is modern and contemporary in style, excellent choices on the menu, prices are very reasonable (we spent £30 each, between 2, with drinks included and a tip) and ultimately the food was very enjoyable + portion sizes were spot on. The only downside is we waited a little too long for our food, but we weren't in a hurry and this didn't effect our experience. Recommended, one of the best restaurants in Surbiton.

They didn't do the exact meal I wanted to eat but they went out of their way to make one and it was splendid. Very expensive to what I'm used to but as a treat well worth it. You'll enjoy.

This is an excellent curry house. Better than the usual suburban restaurants with poor lighting and no atmosphere. This is light and spacious and the two guys that run it are hands on. The menu has some original dishes and the Thali Ho options are a new concept (for me) and a great way to eat. Food excellent. Service excellent. Will definitely return with family / friends

We ordered a takeout through their website. After 90 minutes the food had not arrived. To this day we still do not have the food and we are in the process of trying to get a refund. The team on the phone were extremely rude and unaccommodating. A truly horrible experience I advise anyone to avoid. It may be different through Deliveroo as you can obtain credit better but do not use their website.

Great food. Best curry I've had for ages. Outstanding value thali (set meal - rice, naan, potato curry, Dahl/lentils, and choice of main), £10 before 7pm. Extras like alcohol a little pricey, but still excellent value overall. Free street parking after 6 on weekends (as 30 mins free), or in Waitrose by the station). Recommended.

We ordered takeaway having eaten in the restaurant many times. The food was extremely disappointing- as if it had come from somewhere entirely different. Tried ringing the restaurant several times but fobbed off every time. Let’s be clear - the food is not cheap. My partner spent a long time trying to get through to the restaurant but told the manager was in the toilet - each time he tried to call - over a period of 30-45 minutes. Really? Let’s just say don’t bother ordering a takeaway. We are not convinced the food comes from this restaurant so just beware. Will not be ordering again and will be going in person to complain as they are not taking our calls! Very poor food and service

When I first came in the atmosphere was lovely and delightful as the place already packed with a lot of customers waiting for their food. The staff knew what they were doing as they recommended me a dish and that dish was spectacular and the food was very good. And the price was dependable.

Very nice vegetable dum biryani and their daal tadka is just awesome. Full of taste and very nice smell too. Will order again and might visit the restaurant to dine in. Good luck team at Thali Ho. Keep serving such high quality food.

So totally delicious... we all opted for a deal where you get a naan, rice, curry, side etc... took what we couldn't eat home and enjoyed it for a couple of days afterwards. Wine was great too.

This was the first time we tried Thali ho and we were really impressed. Each course was packed with flavour and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried. Very fresh, good portion size, great service and lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be returning.

We booked a table for 20 as part of our gym social. The food and service were both amazing, really couldn’t have asked for any more. Even though we were a large booking the staff were so attentive and everybody's food came all at once. The food itself was delicious and they were able to cater to allergies/ intolerances. Not great, unfortunately. The curry was decent but all the sides and breads were incredibly oily. Oil in the frier probably needs changing more often!

First visit today & we liked it! Really big restaurant and funky decor. Tasty fresh food. And lots of choice for vegans & vegetarians. My only niggle is it's rather unnecessary to charge for a little bowl of chopped chilli - in all the restaurants in all the world, that's never happened before.

Probably my favourite Indian restaurant in the Surbiton/Kingston area. Always great service and food is delicious, both for eating in and for takeaway. Their Thali's are the way to go as you get a whole meal with a selection of sides. The rest of their menu is delicious too, but the Thali's give you the best value. Always happy after a visit.

Award winning Indian restaurant for a reason - it's the best Indian food I've eaten in London and its suburbs for a long while. Service is friendly and attentive, prices reasonable, decor refreshingly modern and airy, above all the food is just tops. Very highly recommended!!!

We came here for my friend's birthday last week.. they were quite attentive.. it's only a shame one of our party was running late so it got a bit awkward having to say we weren't ready to order BUT we were asked for drinks and poppadom starters very early on. Really lovely restaurant setting, spacious and generally had a relaxed feel to it. I would definitely recommend getting a Thali as the name is all about it. We were raving about the peshwari naans- girls said it was the best one they'd ever had. I got the MALAI KARI KING PRAWN THALI (GF)(N)(M and whilst it was nice, it didn't make me food dance! As I like spice I would get the Chilli Paneer next time but the prawns were really succulent and everything lent itself to each other. I was full to the brim after my Thali.. would definitely come back again.

When this restaurant opened six years ago it was highly recommended. This was because the type of food was not the normal Indian. It has taken me six years to visit this restaurant. This was because the family I was having dinner with were are coming to Surbiton. The poppadoms we started with were the lightest I have ever tasted. Absolutely wonderful if this can be said about a confident we also started with a pickle tray the dishes that we had were Bhaing Thali,Chilli Pan Thali, Saag Chick Thali, all with Pilao Rice. The wine we had was the South African Chenin Blanc and the house red. There were no complaints from any of the five members of the family present. All the dishes we had were not for those people who do not like hot Indian food.

Ordered a Takeaway as staying nearby whilst on a half term break. Good selection of tempting dishes to choose from. Ordering on line was straightforward and confirmation email and receipt received in seconds. Food was ready 5 mins earlier than quoted time, piping hot and delicious. Staff extremely friendly and courteous in restaurant when I picked up our order. Would definitely recommend.

Visited Thali Ho with a friend on Saturday. Lovely atmosphere in a large spacious restaurant. I went for a chicken thali and my friend ordered the masala thali. Absolutely delicious. The thali is a platter of many beautifully cooked dishes. Reasonably priced. Would definitely be coming back very soon.

taliho is one of the best Indian kitchen from different taste for food lovers. I'm fascinated for their responsibilities and time management skills. also their service is very well.

Came here with the family for lunch. When we told the waiter we wanted our starters a few of them were not available because the tandoor was out of service. Now, those of you who go to Indian restaurants know how important the tandoor is as this is where you get your chicken tikka, mixed grills so highly disappointed that we were not told about this on booking. It is like going into a pub being told their is no beer…made sense as the place was empty. Food was average, nothing special. My son ordered a kids lamb curry and it was spicy. The Thali was very expensive, near to £20 plate and even this was not great. Service was ok, had to tell the sisters to remove all the dishes as there was no space for new ones. I would not come back here at all. Average food and overly expensive.

Terrible customer service following a delivery from Deliveroo. Food was spilt everywhere in the bag because the lids haven’t been fastened properly. Tried to pass me off and tell me to ring Deliveroo, which is fine, we will do that and get a refund BUT...

We are big fans of Thali Ho. Most recent visit was to celebrate my son’s birthday with some of his friends. The food is really good and also good value. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend for any occasion.

I have visited this restaurant - in a street with other good Indian restaurants - about five or six times now. While à la carte options are on the menu, the speciality of the house is the eponymous thali.While the menu is not extensive, the thalis stand out as the high-point. They are not only delicious, but they also come in generous portions - so you will need to be quite hungry to finish everything. The staff are also very friendly and attentive (but not overly so), which adds to the dining experience. I shall definitely return.

One of the most famous restaurants around the corner for Asian cuisine, just by the smell of their food we were already hungry and couldn't wait to try things out. Great ambiance with soft background music, went there on a Saturday it was pretty crowded but managed to get a table. Although being crowded it didn't affect their hospitality at all, the staff were polite and cooked the meal according to our needs. As we like our food to be spicy, they also recommended us the pappadums that were very light and crispy really went along with the drinks. The thalis were also very delicious definitely a thumbs up with a variety of stuff on the plate. If you guys out there would love to try most of the things on the menu, I highly recommend the thali. The flavors were just on point and the service there too which I was quite surprised about being so busy. Overall it's a must-go and would definitely soon visit again.

We ordered and paid for our take away online through the website - very straight forward and easy to navigate. Although I had to phone to make sure they had received the order as I didn’t get the email confirmation. They say it can take up to 1 hour for deliveries but it came in 50 mins. The platters are a really good idea - I didn’t bother comparing prices but guess they’re good value. They are a perfect serving for a good size meal for one person but we did top up with an order of a couple of poppadoms. It was all delicious, the pilau rice light and tasty, naan fresh & hot and all the mains were devoured. I would definitely go order from them again.

After years of Saturday night Indian take always we decided to try Thali Ho as after walking past we decided it looked quite quirky with a slightly different menu. Our first delivery will be our last. The rice was in small wasabi type pots .The rice was stuck together like you get from microwave rice pouches, The chicken korma had more oil floating on top than my chip pan, it was a strange colour and the chicken was brown thigh meat ( Iv never had anything but chicken breast in Indian food) It looked so vile I couldn’t eat it. The Nan breads I would 100% take a bet they were supermarket ones that were heated up ( 100% NOT authentic at all) All the food had leaked into the bag! The other lamb dish was passable but then again my husband was starving. As for the cost very very very over priced approx £25 above what we normally pay for a delicious Indian meal. We really was expecting something special for the price! A chilled Marks & Spencer’s Indian meal would have been far nicer. We would never order from here again, we have eaten Indian food for 30+ years. This was the worst we have even had. The food was delivered in 20mins, not the normal 1 to 2 hrs we normally wait for our Indian meals on Saturday nights. Obviously they are not that busy, you’d wonder why!!!

Last week we ordered a takeaway from Thali Ho and it took just under 3 hours to arrive. Throughout this time they either did not answer the phone or you just got an engaged tone. When it eventually came there was no real apology. When we emailed then later to complain there was no response. This is not the first time they have taken over 2 and a half hours to deliver. The food at Thali Ho is always excellent but they treat their delivery customers with contempt. We have had enough of them.

Arrogant - go elsewhere!I’d written a positive review of these guys previously that I’ve now deleted. I ordered a takeaway 90 minutes ago which I have paid for, yet they won’t answer calls or reply to emails asking where my order is. I’ve thrown a frozen pizza in the oven instead and my pregnant wife (who is starving) is naturally fuming at this dog poo service here. Clearly they have got above their station with a few good reviews. Absolutely unacceptable. Deliver what you should do and refund accordingly. If you want a decent curry go elsewhere. If you want service that think it’s Michelin star without anything to back it up go here. Disgusted.

Second visit to Thali-ho and sadly no where near as good as my first. We visited during a busy Saturday evening. The reason for my review is for two main reasons. 1. The service was so average 2. There was minimal Covid safety - I did not feel at all safe. 1. The staff are walking round dressed in trackie bottoms and trainers? One of the waitresses also had a big chain round her neck? The entire presentation of the staff was verging on offensive! This hardly screams award winning restaurant? This lazy appearance was reflected in the service too. 0 interaction or ‘service with a smile’ from any of the three staff members who served us ! Just robot-like a plonked the food down... It’s just not what I expected from this standard of restaurant? Such painfully average service?? I am comparing this to other local restaurants too. There are plenty to chose from and those I have been to recently came out much better.2. Covid safety = minimal. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE. The tables were very close together, I felt unsafe the whole time. As well as this only some staff were wearing face masks. One female staff member in particular spent the whole night with a mask on but round her neck/below her chin What is the point in that?! It made me feel on edge the whole time. Is she going to put it on properly? Is she not?m All other local restaurants I have been to recently all staff wear them religiously. This is for the greater good and made me feel safer. The food was good but took 50 mins to arrive. Understandable on a busy Saturday night. Simple update from the service team that our food is on its way would have managed that situation. Instead it was just plonked down. The main driver for this review is how unsafe I felt. Staff need to wear their masks and we need to be spread out.

We wanted to try Thali Ho for a while so decided to try it during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. On arrival it all seemed a bit chaotic, there was a queue for the booked tables and many of us were told to wait amongst other diners for our table to be made.There didn't seem to be much covid compliance and it was very busy, overly so. There was sanitizer but no temprature check or track and trace details taken which I've experienced in other restuarants. Some staff wore masks, others didn't, although I know this isn't mandatory. Cutlery was placed down for us with the waitress holding the eating end so I felt I had to wipe everything down first and used my own sanitiser a lot! There was no ventilation other than air conditioning, which I hope was filtering the air?!The food itself was good, but arrived an hour and twenty minutes after ordering. I'm not sure if our order was lost as there were around 3 tables I could see that recieved their food before us having arrived after us. Either way, there was no apology and the manager practically ignored me when trying to ask if the food was on its way.It is a shame because I'm sure it would have been a different experience on a different day but we felt the customer's safety and experience wasn't the priority on our visit so we won't be returning again unfortunately.

Really fancied trying this place as there are not many thali places locally. The food was lovely and plentyful. However the service was very slow it took 20 minutes to order thats only when i called someone over. It then took another hour to get our thalis. I hope things improve as the food is nice!

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered last night and was so glad I did! My husband had a vegetarian Nirmish thali and I had a SW-friendly chicken tikka with kachumber salad. Both were fantastic, arrived on time and nicely packaged (thali delivered in a special cardboard box that keeps everything secure). Generous portion sizes; my tikka was more than enough and I could only eat half the salad with it. My husband had enough for two generous rounds from his thali. This made it very good value for money but what I really want to emphasise is the taste; it is not easy to get a great balance of spices and seasoning in Indian food but Thali Ho excelled in this area. I have never had such a nicely spiced tikka and the salad was divine, if you can imagine a salad being that! I did not feel deprived in anyway, so was able to enjoy a healthy takeaway without crashing my SW food plan. My husband loved his thali, and he's been spoilt by having the benefit of food cooked by the Indian half of my family in his life. We don't eat out or get takeaways often because we fall into the 'just about managing' category of income, so when we do get food like this it means so much to us to have spent our money wisely and we definitely felt this was the case. I can't wait for the next time we can get a takeaway, or even eat in the actual restaurant now that lockdown is easing. Thank you Thali Ho for an awesome experience!

Lockdown is winding down and Thali Ho has reopened, so off me and s lips popped down here for a takeaway. Never been before and the reviews and trendy appearance gave us high hopes. We both had thali boxes one of which mine was firecracker chicken and I can’t begin to pronounce the other one. Both came with a main, rice, naan, tarka dall (calling tarka dall, wake up now) and what we deciphered as Bombay potatoes although these were only identifiable by their fingerprints judging by their appearance.We opened the box and it was like five tubs of food from Wasabi ensconced in there. The rice and firecracker chicken ended up on my plate first and after mouthful one all I could taste was salt. The food was so salty I could barely taste the other flavours, which I’m hoping did exist - if they did they hid themselves well! The naan was ok and the poppadoms came in a bag like prawn crackers and smashed to pieces. The firecracker chicken didn’t get any better and there was no spice to it all.Sadly after fancying this gaff for a while it was very disappointing. In an area with a number of options this place needs to up its game quick sticks. I’d try The Agra or venture to The Ferry for a decent ruby.

Been meaning to try this place for ages. Really pleasant surprise and got us out of our comfort zone in Indian menu choices. Everything was fresh and tasty, the Lamb Rogan Josh was melt in the mouth and the naan bread was light and tasty. Staff were friendly too so will defo come back!

First visit to this restaurant with a friend. Visited on a Saturday early evening. Food was delicious and atmosphere was very relaxed and upbeat. Very busy, so would recommend booking in advance.

My wife and I really like thalis, and they are harder to find these days. So we were really looking forward to this place and the reviews were encouraging. However it was a real let-down. The accompanying dishes were really overcooked - the Dahl was completely puréed with no identifiable lentils left. The veg of the day - cauliflower - was a soft mush. The mains very average too. The service was quite brusque and the whole approach felt hurried, a bit like a Nando’s. Sadly, won’t be back.

I love a thali and it's great to see Thali Ho putting them at the centre of what they do. The decor and atmosphere is lighter and more bistro-like than a traditional Indian restaurant. The menu is simple and, to be honest, I always stick to the thalis. If you can't make it to the restaurant (we have small kids, so this is often true for us) their take away thalis are now provided in compostable packaging, which is another plus. If you do a take away thali - one is enough for 2 meals (we usually order one each and put a couple of the thali dishes in the fridge for lunch the next day).
