Thai Thai Restaurant in Chesterfield

The entrance is shabby, all the way up four flights of stairs to the second floor, and all the way to the door. BUT once you're in the atmosphere is nice, with three seating areas, and the food is just excellent. The service was quick, efficient and polite. The set meals are good value; we had meal A. I'd certainly recommend the Thai Thai starter (#9). We'll definitely go again!

We went to ThaiThai last night, there were 30 of us. We had paid our deposits and provided menu choices. The food and service were fantastic, the staff worked hard and we had a great night in what was an impressive designed room. Would certainly recommend a visit. Well done ThaiThai and thank you xx

The Thai Thai was a restaurant reminiscent of the kind you'd find in the 80's cult film Big Trouble In Little China. The decor was a little dated but that fed into the authentic Enter The Dragon feeling and ambience. A novel addition is the ability to eat at floor level I.E. on the floor. Although to the restaurant's credit, you don't eat on the floor. You sit against padded Thai backrests and the floor beneath the table (which is at floor level) is lowered. So you're effectively sitting as you would on a normal table albeit positioned at floor level. A novel and entertaining experience that requires a little bit of manoeuvrability when getting into position. The food was a 7.5 out of ten. The service was about the same. Spirits were £2.95 a pint of coke was 1.75 the atmosphere was also 7.5. The restaurant also has traditional seating areas where most diners seem to be. The decor was wood bamboo style with a hint of rural China. The service from the chefs was good. We also noticed close attention being paid to diners' orders from male hosts. This restaurant would suit parties of any size and I would recommend the Thai pillow seats and floor-style tables as they allow an elevated level of communication. This restaurant is worth a visit. The food and service were of good quality.

We had a great time here for our anniversary ☺️ the staff are all really lovely and very helpful and the food was delicious! We opted for one of the set menus and everything was fantastic. They also warm the plates which for me is a great touch. The team there really take pride in what they do. We’ll be visiting again!

Visited Thai Thai Restaurant recently with my wife for Dinner. We have not eaten here for a few years and so it was nice to be able to make a return visit. Ambiance and Service were excellent. My wife is Thai and she was made very welcome by the friendly and helpful Thai Staff. We shared meal of Red Fish Curry , Park and Basil , Jungle Chicken Curry and Rice. The Food was well-presented and of good quality with good levels of spicing. The major shortfall however was the lack of seasoning in all three main dishes. Some additional flavour enhancement would have elevated the Food. That said , we enjoyed our meal and drinks and we had a really pleasant evening. Thank you to the lovely Staff who were working on March 8th. We will certainly eat here again.

Now I'm not usually a fan of Thai food so I wasn't really looking forward to the meal. How wrong I was! In the past, I'd eaten Thai food such as red and green curries and found them quite 'fragrant' if that makes sense. Thai Thai food looks and tastes amazing. Warm, friendly service. Clean and open dining on seats or even traditional seating on the floor. The decor is great and not fake or tacky looking. I had Crying Tiger with rice which is a steak sizzler. If I could offer any constructive feedback I would say, please put the heaters on when it's cold. We're pretty hardy blokes but it was cold in there🥶.

Very odd start to the journey as it’s a few floors up an old commercial building and then an eclectic entrance to the restaurant but it pulls you in and then the welcome, the service and the food are outstanding. We were only in Chesterfield for 24 hours but this was a worthy dinner choice and we’d go back in a heartbeat.

Such a bizarre restaurant! We ate in the panelled room, I think maybe if you are different sections of the restaurant you might have a different experience. We walked up the stairs to strange murals on the wall of Mr Bean and the Teletubbies, into an industrial freezing cold corridor where old chairs and artefacts are stored. We opened the doors to the restaurant to be greeted by two areas of sand filled flooring and ancient flattened cushioned seating. We had booked, but had to wait for our table, sat wondering what we had let ourselves in for! We were eventually taken to our sticky table, with menus which attached themselves to it, and were left for a bit too long before drinks orders were taken. When the waitress took the meal orders, she wrote it on the back of crumpled up old receipts from her back pocket! We ordered prawn and Thai crackers to accompany our mains, but this came before the starter. We had the sharing starter, which was really good and presented nicely. Mains came and my order was wrong, it was snatched away with no comment, and the correct order came 5 minutes later, no apology, no words spoken all in fact, or acknowledgment that my husbands meal and my rice had been sat getting cold waiting - it was just plonked on the table. My meal was beef massaman and it was disappointing, watery and was actually quite a small portion really, especially the rice. I have had much better massaman’s other places. Throughout the meal we weren’t offered any extra drinks orders nor asked how the meal was - it felt really short staffed and nonchalant. Staff completely disappeared after our mains had been delivered, no plates were cleared etc, so we just went to pay the bill at the bar, served by a gentleman stood in his socks. We both left laughing, so it gave us a giggle if nothing else, but it was honestly the most bizarre restaurant we’ve ever been to!

Food was delicious. Service very friendly, attentive and helpful. Even though the restaurant was quiet, with it being a Monday night, the ambience was still lovely, due to traditional Thai decor. Will look forward to returning. Thankyou Thai Thai for making this a memorable evening.

STUNNING! The food is flavourful and fragrant, the service is wonderful, we felt special and well attended to. The venue is like being transported! It's so so so beautiful. We'd love to try it when it's busier, a Monday night is very quiet but it was so relaxing and enjoyable none the less. A highly recommended experience, mouthwatering food, and a very photogenic restaurant!

The foods definitely gone down hill in this place. If you want to sit in a fridge with terrible food and service, well, you've come to the right place, to some it up in one word, Disgusting all-round most definitely won't be going back there, avoid avoid avoid avoid

Sat down with a table of 10 and rushed from first point the waiter was huffy and told us he woukdnt return to take our drinks order if he has to comeback. Then after drinks order was taken was told to hurry up and order our food as the restaurant was going to get busy didnt really get anytime to even look at the menu. Once food came it was average at least the steak was tough and nothing special then to top the experience we were told to be quiet because we were too loud now we are a family of 10 and we have kiddies but to be told to Ssssh By a grown man is not my idea of service or a great experience. To give them credit they did knock something off the bill but let's be honest the place had one of the biggest paying tables on the night and treated us like riff raff which is not true.

I have travelled Thailand extensively and been to many Thai restaurants in the UK and sadly this was a very disappointing experience 😕 The restaurant has the most bizarre entrance, as if you're entering a warehouse, then when you do finally get into the place its freezing cold, even in the supposed 'warm' area. The staff were attentive and friendly enough but the most disappointing part was the food...I have honestly never had such a bad Thai food experience! And it wasn't just my dishes, it was all of those in the party of people I was with... The only nice dish was the pork rib starter. Two people had a soup which consisted of re-heated chicken and honestly looked like dirty dish water! And apparently, didn't taste much better. The yellow curry was so tasteless and watery and, again, had re-heated chicken in it. The beef massaman curry looked like some stripes of 'donor' meat had been plonked in it rather than chunks of beef you'd get in any other massaman curry and was also really, really tasteless and watery. The fish curry consisted of mostly fish skin and bones 🤢🤢 so, so disappointing... Sadly, we won't be returning, which is a shame because Thai is my favourite kind of food!

Had a meal here last night with my wife. We had a bottle of rose wine, satay chicken and sweet chilli chicken as starters and yellow and jungle curry for mains all food was great and full of flavour. For desert we had banana spilt which we had not had for 20 years and is my favourite desert. We finished off with two liqueur coffee's. Fairly priced for quality provided. Atmosphere, service, authentic decor and interaction by Chairat and his team was excellent so highly recommended restaurant, particularly if you want a change from run of the mill places. Thank you.

"Hidden Gem" has never been more appropriate than this place. There is no better place to take a person for a surprise - this place is mind-blowing! The theming and décor are just so fun but also with such genuine food, service and atmosphere it's not some commercial novelty "experience" - this is the real deal. Don't spoil yourself with more reviews and pictures, just book! (8 of us went and loved it all)

We tried this place for the first time after hearing good reviews , we love Thai food and have been to Thailand many times but unfortunately the experience wasn’t so good tonight , I wanted to order tiger prawn special but they rang and said they only had pork in a special ok fair enough so the lady suggested Thai red curry with king prawns 🦐 ok that’s fine , food arrived very very quickly slightly worrying as that usually means microwave , anyway Thai fish cakes we flaccid and rubbery no taste of prawn or fish , the pork ribs were slightly better but a little dry , my partners beef in oyster sauce was very nice apparently but my red thai prawns curry was awful all chilli powder no other spicing as red curry should Be and watery sauce prawns were totally overcooked and horrible , the fragrant rice was just plain rice , for the price paid over £50 this should have been a lot better , very disappointing sorry

The best part of the meal was the after eight mint which had gone white! Lol Everything tasted greasy, the starter was like Xmas party food from the frozen aisle. My main had big prawns which were ruined by being battered then covered in sauce which turned them into a soggy congealed mess, what a disaster! Not one check back, which shows really poor service and we were asked to keep our cutlery from our starter for our main! Terrible! It was freezing cold in there also. I booked here as a birthday treat and wished I had booked somewhere else!

I couldn't fault this restaurant, even if I tried. The service, the food the decorating. You're missing something if you don't visit.

Very enjoyable evening, good atmosphere, and lovely food. As we hadn’t visited before we had set meal B. Just fabulous. A great selection of starters, and a lovely range of mains including a very nicely cooked plate of vegetables. Healthy and tasty. Be warned the entrance might look odd… but 1960/70s buildings that have clearly been converted from offices, can be like that. I encourage you to push on get inside for a real treat.

Great Thai food & prompt service

Ended up here by chance and couldn't believe how great it was. Been to quite a few Thai places and the food here was by far the best. Tasted amazing and was a great price.

Have just got back after having dinner. My wife had Thai red curry which she liked but I had Chicken stir fry with garlic and pepper. Unfortunately after a few spoonfuls, my wife cut up one of the chicke pieces from my stir fry and it was clearly raw in the centre. Although they replaced the dish, the evening was spoilt and I could not enjoy the replacement. Surprisingly, we were not offered a reduction in the bill for poor experience - sorry, the experience, like the taste in the mouth, is not pleasant

Hands down one of the best Thai places iv ever been! The word authentic does not justify how amazing this place is! The food, decor, atmosphere, and owners really take me back from when I visited Thailand. Iv been craving Authentic Thai food ever since I got back to the UK and this really hit the spot! The owners are lovely people and really make you feel at home - with lots of great suggestions! I highly recommend getting the sticky rice and ice cream for desert - the owner was so passionate about this and was really keen for me to try it... And wow it really blew my mind! It was delicious 😋

Stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring Chesterfield. This place is a really amazing place and very authentic, the food is fantastic. The sharing platter for a starter is highly recommended, with the chicken satay as the standout. I tried the lamb shank massaman curry which did not disappoint, it was delicious. The king prawns were succulent and the G2 pad Thai noodles took me back to my days of living in Bangkok. Highly recommend you try this place and immerse yourself in a little slice of the land of smiles.

Hidden gem in Chesterfield. The atmosphere is incredible, my family and I have been here a handful of times and we are yet to have something off the menu that isn’t incredible!

Great atmosphere and amazingly friendly staff. The food is also very tasty with good flavours. It's just a nice place to sit and eat at. Can sit traditional style or at tables, and there's little lights to make it look like the night sky.

Attentive folk serving us with nice gaps between courses Unfortunately over ordered so a bit left over but that was quantity rather than quality The food was lovely and I would recommend a re visit but perhaps ordering separate dishes rather than set menus as there was too much per person for us

Beautiful place, swap out ingredients to make it veggie, very friendly and tasty! The food is priced reasonably considering hpw good it tastes best place I’ve ever eaten! Moved here last year and brought friends and family here when they have visited, each time i have been its been great and the one time they were busy and we didnt get the table we wanted we all got free drinks happy days

Came here after long hike Mam Tor - Lose Hill -Castleton. I have been to many Thai restaurants and most of the foods served here were good. Hospitality was second to none. The server(owner himself I think) was very nice guy and provided us very pleasant environment. Definitely will recommend.

The atmosphere is so authentic and I really feel like I'm in Thailand while being there. This has become my favourite restaurant in Chesterfield and I will keep returning.

My partner has been very ill will food poisoning after a meal there last night

Terrible service + management. We were one of several tables who decided to leave on 18th March. We booked a table for 7:30, were sat down promptly. No menus or drinks were taken until HALF AN HOUR LATER. We expressed our concern and chose a set menu for ease. OTHER TABLES BEGAN TO COMPLAIN AROUND US, saying they had been waiting since 6:45pm and hadn't received any food. We watched two elderly staff members continuously walk around with food unable to locate who it belonged to, with even repeat orders of starters being sent back. It got to 9pm and we followed suit with 6 other tables around us in short succession. We explained to the waitress who agreed ' I don't blame you, people are leaving, I'm so sorry. If I were you I wouldn't wait this long'. I commend the honesty of the staff member who had been put in this predicament while the family/senior staff continued to bumble around aimlessly and semi-frantic. We will not be returning. I advise you do the same.

I have visited twice. I really love the Thai green curry. The restaurant is really nice due to the decorating. I've never seen a place like this before. The staff are friendly as well I can't wait to come back again soon.

We came here for a evening meal with friends. The staff were very friendly and fast service. The food was fantastic, the best Thai I've been too for flavour and portion size. It was slightly pricey for what I've previously paid it came to £78 for our meals for 2 and 3 drinks but with the cost of food, I understand why. Will definitely be returning. Had a lovely evening for our first experience at thai thai. The food was incredible with tons of flavour and generous portions . The menu had plenty of options for all types of people my partner ate vegetarian although she isn't one but loved the imitation duck which looked the part . I had a extra spicy pork dish and chicken satay which were both fantastic. The chicken was especially good. Well seasoned and so juicy ! We were greeted and served by the Owner who was fantastic! He was very polite, enthusiastic and energetic about the restaurant which made for a great experience. We will definitely return in the future likely with friends and will reccomend to others . Thank you for a great evening !

Drinks took ages to arrive and needed to ask four times. Food average at best. Table felt sticky as if not cleaned properly. Upset stomach the next day.

Firstly, the venue is amazing. It's like stepping into Thailand!! The staff were brilliant, and the food was equally as brilliant. Would highly recommend this place and will 100% be returning.

Ordered Set B from the restaurant via Uber Eats this week. 1. Rice missing from the delivery. 2. Utensils missing again. 3. Restaurant added a piece of plastic in the curry dish that appears to be food packaging (See photo). Now I know where their ingredients come from...

Wonderful selection of Thai food. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Restaurant is split into 2 dining area's. 1 with traditional english seating and the other with low tables and cushions which we chose (really added to the experience).

Came here with my family for my 40th, had visited previously but that was a while ago. The staff were very pleasant and professional, the service itself was great. The food was very good, even my fussy 9 year old was happy with the food :) well worth a visit. Its very spacious and decorative inside, making it a very nice atmosphere.

Amazing food and excellent traditional setting

Traveling through - Nice interior decor and service but my only two critic is that the portions were quite small, therefore not good value for money! Fish cake tasted salty but the rest of the dish were pleasing to the palate.

Celebrating my sons 18th birthday. Never been to this restaurant before. Centre of Chesterfield town. Nearest parking multi story on New Beetwell street. Other smaller carparks nearby. Restaurant is on a second floor. Three short flight of stairs but have a very modern elevator for disabled / elderly access. My farther, 84 using walking stick, limited mobility had no problems using the lift which leads to the main restaurant room. The room is separated into themed rooms. There is a recessed srsting area but we went to the main room which has normal seating and tables. Dont know if the thai theme is authentic but i found it amusing reminiscent of a disney themed restaurant. Menu is varied. Starters thai fish cakes were different but really nice, tempora prawns, green lipped muscles, For main I had lamb shank in a peanut curry sauce. Mild and sweet. Others had roast duck and tamarind, king prawns and tamarind on a bed of crispy noodles, sea bass. Pudding were a selection of icecreams and fritters. Coffees and liqueurs. The thai beer was nice. At the end of the night the staff sang happy birthday to my son and he was given an icecream desert with cherries. The starters were aroung £6 each the mains varied between £10 and £25. Puddings were around £4.95. We had a really nice meal in entertaining surroundings. Worth a visit.

Never had to ask for a drink 4 times before. Food was actually decent enough, although relatively small portions. But the big issue is the service. Despite being friendly enough, I ordered more drinks when the main course was served. They didn't arrive. So when they came to clear the plates, I asked for the drinks again. They didn't arrive. We called the waiter over and asked for the desert menus and reminded him that the drinks hadn't come. You guessed it, they didn't arrive. I couldn't bring myself to ask for it a 4th time so went without it. We won't be returning

We recently moved to the area and have been looking for a high quality Thai restaurant. The owner and his son were friendly and professional and the food from the starters through to the desserts were beautiful. The King prawn in a Tamarind sauce was especially tasty. We will become regulars here I am sure. Can well recommend.

Best Thai food experience I've ever had.

The food is nice. The negative is that the portions are too small, hence not so good for the hungry. Probably I should've ordered two mains while I ate there. And I am typical light eater. After a starter and a main, I left the place hungry and ate else where.

Amazing place to go. Sit at a Thai table for an authentic experience. Food is excellent keeps us coming back whenever we pass through Chesterfield. Recommend the mussels to start, lamb shank was too much for 1person and the Thai fish with aubergine and holy basil has you coming back for more. Definitely recommend a visit
