Went for the £25 eat as much as you like. They force us to have these huge platters full of cheap deep fried foods. They give attitude when you try order something else off of the menu if theres any amount of food left even though they stack it high with the cheap stuff on purpose. Literally gave us a mound of fried soy bites that no one even asked for. Most of the food is poor quality and the owner is rude. Definitely avoid.

Visited for the first time in 3 years for our daughters birthday. The food was very poor, a mixture of what seemed like reheated dishes that were tasteless. The atmosphere was not good, with two what I can only describe as drunk people, who could be heard everywhere in the restaurant due to their loud conversation and profanities. The staff looked like they had just got out of bed, wearing whatever was close to them when they got up this morning. The children of the owners were playing online games in the restaurant and the staff rest area seemed to be in the restaurant also. The cost of the meal was extortionate for the standard of food, service and atmosphere. If you are a Carpenters fan you may enjoy the music, because that's the only music playing. I would not recommend anyone to visit this restaurant only to avoid it, a shame really, because the food used to be exceptional.

Currently sat with a bucket next to me and can't stay off the toilet. Plain and simple, got food poisoning.

Disgusting meal and a waste of money!!..Chips was cold and had been re-heated god knows how many times 🤢 the other two meals was so disgusting everything has gone in the bin 😡 Was really looking forward to a take away but partner had to cook our food witch we will do always from now on 🙄

The food was okay, but wasn’t anything exceptional. The service however was the worst I’ve experienced in a long time. The staff were rude, told us off for trying to order two mains each (at an all you can eat). At £24 a person there are far better options.

A take away order. Bland and tasteless. The food was cold and soggy. Lots of better Chinese takeaways in the area. Did not enjoy at all and won't order again.

Went with high expectations the service was poor but improved eventually. The food was fair I have had better though everything was very sweet and too salty. We had the All you can eat menu but noticed the staff trying to pre-empt orders by suggesting other items which we didn't want

I've been to Mutiara before, but some time ago .. I ordered a sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice and was very disappointed .. basically all I got was very small pieces of batter and rice .. the sauce was nice, as was the rice but to pay almost £10 for batter and rice doesn't add up to me! I did tell the waitress that I was not impressed and she said she'd tell the chef but I heard no more.

We have been coming to this restaurant since 2014. The food is always excellent, the service is always brilliant whether we are coming for date night or a big family meal. I always enjoy coming here, I would recommend the salt and chilli squid our family favourite! Many happy memories here and more memories to be made! A brilliant local restaurant that has never let us down and has always been fantastic.

Visited last night 6th September for the first time for birthday family get together. Not sure about the negative reviews as we all enjoyed the food which was the all you can eat menu which is competitively priced as are the drinks. Service was very good and attentive. We were the only ones in but it was a Tuesday early evening so possibly the norm, anyway this did not detract from an enjoyable evening. Thank you.

The food was amazing. The only problem was the communication barrier. I understand if you want an authentic experience its always better to go where the actual people from that country work at that type of restaurant but come on the majority of your customers are English so you would think your front of house waiters would be able to speak more than 2 words. But still didn't ruin the experience was quite funny.

Oh dear!pre covid this used to be a nice restaurant, unfortunately it isn’t anymore. The whole place needs a revamp, the toilets are not a pleasant experience. The drinks are way over priced and the food is dire, they have used the cheapest meat/ seafood possible and it shows, I shall not be returning and I wouldn’t recommend. The staff however were lovely and very attentive.

Didn’t deliver. Apparently knocked and waited I didn’t hear nothing and then left without even leaving the food outside or anything. Wasted £30 cos they couldn’t leave it outside.

Appalling service, very slow and didn't bring half our order out, had to chase them down a few times just to get served, seems like if they stay away from you you can't eat as much as you paid, the food was mediocre at the most, will definitely not be going here again

Beautiful food, really friendly staff, best Chinese we have had for a long time.

Food was warm not hot when it arrived and some of it was tasteless, e.g. prawn toast just tasted watery. Service was slow didn't have many staff on. Couldn't hear the person sat next to me as it was so loud so the atmosphere of a stone. My wife and I will not be returning.

Very loud inside and quite busy. Food is nothing more than OK. They got our drinks order wrong and swapped them with another table after I had taken a drink from mine. Slow service. We could have ate more but couldn't be bothered waiting another 20-30 minutes to order and be served. China dragon at New Whittington is better.

A very disappointing valentines meal! Meal was hour late in arriving. Chicken satay skewers in the starter were raw!! The spring rolls very undercooked. My wife and I decided not to touch the main as this also had chicken in it (sweet an sour).We have yet to receive a full refund despite being told its "on the way within a few days" over a week ago. I wouldn't even give this place 1 star.

It was a Brilliant meal, really fast service and great price. The staff were very helpfull and even gave the kids lolly pops at the end.thank you

Ordered takeaway on just eat order confirmed and changed to on its way, after 30 min rang and was told it wasn't on its way and would be another 2 hours. What a pointless episode, don't waste your time go elsewhere!

Ordered my usual takeaway but it was half an hour since the time I requested so I called the restaurant only to be told that they are closed and I can't possibly have placed an order as their online ordering is turned off

Ignorant member of staff the old one the younger ones was fine , starters very nice, mains was cold and bland and we was told if we leave any food we would be charged which I understand but how do you know what the portion sizes are when ordering if you have never been some buffets only give you a small dish, the restaurant was freezing

Booked a table for 5 and the food was lovely, even though they were busy we didn't have to wait long for our food. Staff and service was also really good. Definitely will go back.

Visited with friends for all you can eat menu. Can only order 5 starters. The food was obviously re warmed or microwaved as it was served too quickly. The chicken was like eating rubber (obviously boiled), crispy beef was like eating crunchy twiglets. The food was poor, the table and menus were sticky to touch, the crockery was dirty, the wine was like vinegar. The toilets were vile, cracked tiles lots of filler generally very shabby. Staff very rude and aggressive. We aired our views to a staff member and we were told “no worries” thinking we may have a discount or drinks deducted to then be presented with the full price bill. We then said we weren’t happy with paying full price. We were then hassled by 2 members of staff who became aggressive until we paid our bill. I really hope this restaurant closes down so customers don’t have to experience this vile service

This is my go to chinese/Malaysian... Great choice especially with there traditional dishes, friendly staff and there so quick for a takeaway Chinese, the various dishes from around Asia is a fantastic offering, highly recommended by me

Delivery order via uber, was given a time scale of 8:30 to 8:50, called them at 8:40 and told the driver set off 15 minutes ago, food turned up at 8:55 so in the car for 30 minutes (prawns!!) yet we are only 5 minutes away from there, told me there was a problem with my address and they had to prioritise the deliveries (meaning others were late too), on the address issue, yeah whatever, if that was dynasty Chinese or most other restaurants then they would have (and have done in the past) called me on receipt of the order to confirm the address (we live on a new estate), salty, dry, luke warm, take my advice, pay the extra couple of quid and order from dynasty as the food was mediocre and service poor.

Yes, I really enjoyed eating here with friends on Friday night. Next time I ll take a lass

I have used your restaurant mostly for takeaways since 1995, even though I don’t live on the doorstep anymore, your still my go to place as the food is delicious. The staff were always friendly until this evening when I chose an extra special treat for my family and took them for a meal, food was great as always but I feel really let down on the service…and the tone of the lady who served us (who has previously been lovely when ordering takeaways) the tone was rather snappy and unhelpful and made to feel we were an inconvenience not a customer…they may be short staffed but won’t need extra staff if the tone continues with the customers… to be honest I’m not sure you’ll see me again even for takeaways…I have never spent so much on a meal in my life as I was treating six people, I felt totally let down and embarrassed quite frankly that I’d chosen your restaurant.

Chips were stale and mains were watery So not the best

We went for an all you can eat menu with 4 children ages 4, 6, 8 and 9. The staff were lovely when interacting with the children and really made a fuss of them. The food was absolutely delicious, I would say their chicken chow mein is probably the best I’ve had. The chilli shredded beef was crispier than any I’ve ever tasted. The waiting times were very reasonable, as was the price. As a family of 6 with bottled Coke and 5 puddings, we ate for £108. Considering the food we ate and the good choice on the menu we were very happy with the price. I highly recommend trying this restaurant. We will definitely visit again soon. Thank you

Let's start with some positives. Very welcoming staff and prompt attentive service. As you're shown to your table here's where the problems start. Sticky menus and sticky tables. The starters are initially tasty until you realise every single one is just coated in salt. (I'm used to Chinese food it can be salty but this is on another level). The prices are high too. The main courses are better quality than the starters. Very little duck with the pancakes too. This could easily be better but for now I won't be rushing back and I can't recommend.

Never ordered food from here before , was a bit sceptical. What a fantastic surprise it was delicious, service was fab and driver was quick to deliver, very polite too. Will be ordering food again , thankyou

AVOID! We ordered food from there and 2 of the chicken items smelt rancid and were definitely off. My partner woke up in the night vomiting and with stomach cramps. Horrendous experience/restaurant.

It's so so... I'm a big fan of Rendang usually, and this is nothing like either the Indonesian or Malaysian versions I've had elsewhere. It's not supposed to be a stir fry of sliced beef and vegetables, it's supposed to a slow cooked stew with coconut milk and rich spices... I'm not sure their version had any coconut in it. The main flavor seemed to be terasi (dried shrimp paste) and there was very little spice to it. The chicken fried noodle was nice and much better than my Rendang, but definitely Chinese. Appetizers are mostly Chinese and there are many other Chinese items on their menu.

The all you can eat system a bit confusing. Service friendly but we had to ask a few times for clarification. The food itself rather bland and not that interesting and quite expensive. Over all fine but nothing special.

Great atmosphere and food, would give staff 10 stars if possible for working so hard to give good, friendly service to each person on an extremely busy night, thank you to you all

Had my 60th birthday celebration here. The staff were brilliant. The food was excellent. Thank you for a great night. X

Expect to be there for some time. We were a party of 10 with 4 young children and chose an early enough time so they could eat and get home to bed. Nearly 3 hrs sat there and had 3 starter platters. Approximately 50 minutes between plates considering it took less than 10 minutes to eat what we had. When I finally complained I was treated to a barrage of abuse and rudeness from the so called manager, and even threatened with the police. (for what I couldn't say). I put 1 star because the food we did have was nice and tasty although a bit cold and the girl Joanne that finally resolved our issue was more than fair and explained she was only there to help out and the manager was her aunt. I was even shouted at while sat back at the table as the manager delivered something to another table. It also appeared they were more interested in the just eat orders cos they were flying out, even though we were told the restaurant and the kitchen were short staffed!!!! By all accounts she filmed as leaving!!!!!

Would like to give zero but the app won't allow. After 3 hours and 3 starters, we complained to the so-called manager who proceeded to be very rude abusive and threaten to call the police!! Apparently they were short-staffed not only in the restaurant but the kitchen too, despite numerous justeat orders flying out the door!!The food was ok but some of it on the platters was cold. Needless to say I won't be visiting again on the basis that the so-called manager was extremely rude, not only to her staff (who was her niece) but was instantly shouty and rude to my husband who had tried to remain calm. We went at 6.30pm and walked out at 9.30pm after not even getting main course!! Joanne, the niece was lovely and tried to sort the situation with us politely. I think her auntie needs to take some lessons from Joanne.

Overall highly dissatisfied! As group of 6 adults and 3 kids, arrived at half past 6, and service was abysmal! We were served 3 starter platters over 3hours!(I'd say it took around 10 minutes for us to actually get through each platter) so roughly 50minutes between each! Though the food was very nice overall! One of our party decided to complain about this service to be met with an extremely rude "manager"! After 10 or so minutes of her being aggressive, rude and threatening with calling the police a young lady called Joanne took over, she was extremely apologetic and polite and explained that they were very short staffed(not mentioned prior, and while a multitude of justeat/delivery drivers were in and out). Joanne told us she didn't actually work there and was helping out her Auntie (the "manager") and even Joanne was met with her Auntie having ago at her, in front of customers! There are no facilities for baby changing and we had to do this on a chair at the table! The only reasons I actually gave the 2* rating is due to the quality of food being very nice and Joanne for dealing with customers in the correct manner, otherwise I would have given 1*

Food was very nice but the service was poor to say the least. The fact we arrived at 1830 and ended up walking out at 2130 with a 1 and 4 year old barely fed was nothing short of shocking. Due to us being there nearly 3 hours and had only received 3 starters in that time, we brought it to the attention of the manager, where we were met with rudeness and threats of police! (I'm still not sure why now) The young lady who dealt with us following was lovely and I genuinely felt for her after she was spoken to like dirt from the manager aswell. We had it explained (after being shouted at) to us that they were short staffed in the kitchen, yet they had a fairly full restaurant and felt it acceptable to prioritise just eat orders instead of there dine in services. First visit for us after hearing good things but will most definitely be the last!

Food very nice and tasty, but the service is ridiculous! Over 3 hours we've been here and only had 3 dishes brought out, had to leave without put main course because we had young kids with us!

Ordered from takeaway menu. Overall quite disappointing. Food was just average, very bland with little flavour. Was expecting much better quality and taste for the prices

We used to love going here at one point we went on a weekly basis but alas no more. We booked a table of four at 7:30 to avoid the rush and have a decent conversation over dinner. Drinks order taken and delivered food order then taken for starters . Now the problems started. First set of starters arrive half of which were over cooked, squid like rubber, pork so hard as inedible. So we think it's just a slip up it happens order more starters. An hour later and complaints from nearly every other table we get more over or undercooked food. Mean while deliveries are going out at a rate of knots beside us. At this point we decided to try a main course nearly all of which went back. To put salt in the wound there was I presume the boyfriend of one if the girls sat eating KFC with the child on his computer at the table over the way. To sum it up we should have ordered from the takeaway menu and opened it at our table as that is all they are bothered about not restaurant customers, Also learn to get the bill right excess drinks slid on so beware the scam Never again

Ordered a delivery which was supposed to be 45-65 mins, took 2 hr nearly. When i rang to chase it up was told driver was on his way, arrived 40 mins later so food barely warm and was not a nice man. Food was ok but have had better elsewhere so will go back there in future. Thought we'd try it, but won't return unfortunately

Went for my sisters 40th birthday last night (18th Feb 2022) Took a party of 11, The food was fantastic no problem, The service was unfortunately a little lack, Was waiting ages inbetween 2 starters we ordered and our main course. The staff members wasn’t very fluent in English and one of them didn’t know what a shandy was.

6 of us went. Service was shocking from word go. Staff were argumentative and were reluctant to help with anything. We go brought food by a young a lad which was ours and argued that it was. Turns out it was for table 18 we was 8. No apology. We had dirty plates and ask for fresh as we was ordering completely different dishes for next starters. Argued and told me that we wouldn’t get clean plates. We was made to scrape our own plates and one of our party had satay sticks snatched out her hand by a women(which I think was the owner) when all she was doing was helping clean up and waiting for other people to finish scraping. We got fresh plates and folks but we’re slammed and thrown into the table. Safe to say it was the last thing we ate and will ever eat at that place! Staff were all rude and to say it’s £20 a head and we had to clean our own plates and were expected to eat with dirty plates is a joke. I’ve never wrote a review before and never once complained in a restaurant but it was shocking!

Ordered through Uber eats at 7:30pm, it’s 9:30pm and it’s still not here. I NEVER leave reviews but think twice before you order from here. Shame because the foods alright. Won’t be ordering again. Doubt it will even come.

Poor choice, a bit dissapointing, especially with the crab soup. It was just cheap surami sticks from the supermarket in some thick broth. The rest of the meal was ok, nothing special.

This is the first time we have ordered a takeaway from here. There is no description of what is in the dishes or how spicy they are so its leap if faith. There was a comment box so we stated that we didn't want peppers in the dish. This is due to an allergy. When it arrived in a very timely manner there were peppers in both dishes. This meant that I couldn't eat my dish. Such a disappointment.

First, we love the starters in this restaurant, we've never had such varied and quality in the starters at any oriental restaurant. Chineses, Malaysian, Thai and Japanese all on one menu! If you go here and order the standard starter platter your mad! We had some friends visiting us and decided to take them here for some food. They absolutely loved it. In there words they've never had such tasty and good quality food in a restaurant. They wanted 3 lots of the King Do Pork Chop (it is amazing!) and 2 lots of the Salt & Pepper Squid (never chewy or low quality). If you don't get round to ordering mains (your too full), then you've done it right! Also don't waste time ordering takeaway, go in. You get far more for your money and it's piping hot when it comes out!

Food ordered through Deliveroo but food never delivered, just keep pushing back the expected delivery time, suggesting that they had no intention of actually fulfilling the order. Even Deliveroo Customer Services can’t get them to answer the phone so eventually agreed to cancel and refund in full. Other reviews suggest the food isn’t great anyway so probably a lucky escape but we won’t make the mistake of ordering from them again.

Order placed through Deliveroo and scheduled to be delivered 2 hours later. Order never fulfilled, with delivery time continually pushed back until it was over an hour late. Even Deliveroo customer services couldn’t get them to answer the phone to explain where the food was and agreed to cancel and refund in full. Avoid like the plague.

Me and my gf pre booked to come here and we showed up exactly on time and we were met with waiting at the door for about 15 min before anyone even acknowledged us, no problem as it was busy. We were finally seated and shown the menu on a table that was thrown together as if we hadn’t booked and no apologies for the wait… we waited another 40 mins to get a drinks order which was over priced and served in dirty glassware. Then we saw people complaining all around us and the wait staff arguing with people refusing to pay! They say all you can eat but BEWARE it’s definitely not all you can eat… more like all you can eat if they decide to bring any food to you at all! The food looked amazing tbh and the problem was 100 percent the wait staff being rude and had no idea how to run a dinner service. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! No sorry for the wait, no don’t worry we will comp your drinks. I had to eventually ask after waiting an hour and a half to just get the bill for the two drinks and left and went to weatherspoons who had the food out to us in 15 mins 😂 don’t come here expecting to eat at a normal eat all you can style restaurant.

FOOD CAME COLD AND TO BE HONEST PRETTY STANDARD FAIR FOR THE PRICE THEY CHARGE. WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

Very poor service. 2 hours in was 1 round of drinks and 1 starter a piece as in 1 sping roll 1 bit of prawn toast Then eventually main arrived and there was hair in it !! I left after 2 and a half hours , still hungry !! Others left due to wait times and staff didn't even notice. Very sad as it was nice once apon a time. Then to top if off we both was ill the next day throwing up! All I can say is stear clear !!

Traditional Chinese food, not loaded with MSG. Great food, great service, and they really want to make sure you eat as much food as you would like ( so as not to feel embarrassed to ask)

This restaurant is one of my favourites in Chesterfield. The prices are great for the food and for an to order all you can eat. The quality of food is above the standards seen at other restaurants. I'm a vegetarian and they will happily do there best to cater to your diet needs. At that I've been eating here for years and I have to say the meat from what I remember is great too, including the seafood.

Staff are so friendly and welcoming. A good selection of food for all you can eat. The seafood dishes were cooked to perfection and we had the opportunity to try new dishes including Malaysian chicken. The waitresses were so professional recommending dishes and making us feel welcome.

Had 1st takeaway from here tonight but not the last! Great food. Very tasty and plenty of it.

Good food. But don't make plans for the evening if you order from them. Our arrival est time was 0740pm to 8pm, it arrived at 0920pm. Fair to say it has put a dampener on the whole experience.
