Mutiara Restaurant in Chesterfield

The food is delicious. We went as a family group, the youngest 5, and there was something for everyone. We had all you can eat menu, which proved a good way to get kids to try new things. Well worth a visit.

The worse Chinese I’ve ever had snd my 1st ever bad review the starter was ok apart from the seaweed was shocking but the main pictured was special fried rice , it had never been fried the meat was slimy the rice was plain awful and see they have removed the reviews part from their Facebook page, Really shocking no quality avoid at all costs

Missed a curry off the order. No response from the vendor or just eat. No refund

We went to this restaurant for my birthday. Upon arrival our table wasn’t ready even though I’d booked. We was waiting 5 minutes before we could go to the table, upon doing that I went flying the staff had left a chair in the walk way. I fell hit my head on an occupied chair, hurt my shoulder and bent my fingers back. They soon moved the chair then asked if I was okay. I had to ask for some ice to put my fingers in. The care was nil. Anyway we sat ordered the starters which was nice but then the mains came and the chicken was very dry. Very disappointing. I’m not one to moan about stuff but I feel this was very poor. It was my birthday and I’d gone out to celebrate with family, I’d already encountered embarrassment through no fault of my own. At the and my son said to them about the incident and could we possibly have some money deducted from the bill, they took £10 off which I’m grateful for. But at the end off the day £10 is nothing to them. As we left I overheard a lady who was staff saying to customers on another table about the incident and Now we’re trying to get money off. This is not professional and this shouldn’t be discussed with others. Very unprofessional . If you disabled don’t even come to this establishment. No ramp for wheelchair access! Small walkways where you will have obstacles in your way. VERY DISSAPOINTED

Absolutely lovely food. This was the first time we've ordered from Mutiara and it's our new favourite oriental takeaway.

Four of us had a meal bank holiday Saturday and although there was a big party in our food was excellent..freshly cooked and hot. The staff were friendly and helpful and we will definitely go back.

This food was delicious. The only reason I did not leave a 5 star review was because unfortunately the top off the curry sauce I ordered was off and all over the other food cartons and obviously then no curry sauce . Will definitely order again though

I have given a low score because I ordered 2 chicken katsu which cost £9.50 each and didn’t even have rice with them which is customary for this type of dish. It’s a lot to pay for a piece of dry overcooked chicken in breadcrumbs and a sauce. The sauce was nice but doesn’t compensate for the disappointment.

Chips tasted like they had been reheated, sweet and sour chicken small piece's of batter some with no chicken in at the bits with chicken hard and sauce like water

One of the worst takeaways I’ve ever eaten. The rice is strange with about 8 peas on top and a few bits of egg mixed in. The rest of the dishes were poor quality and tasted awful. Don’t waste your money.

Rude staff. Didn't want us to select our own starters.. not really an "all you can eat buffet" . Drinks just banged down on table, staff leant over our meals to collect and place plates. Expensive. Will not be going again ever.

Went for the £25 eat as much as you like. They force us to have these huge platters full of cheap deep fried foods. They give attitude when you try order something else off of the menu if theres any amount of food left even though they stack it high with the cheap stuff on purpose. Literally gave us a mound of fried soy bites that no one even asked for. Most of the food is poor quality and the owner is rude. Definitely avoid.

Good allround place nice staff and food some dishes you dont get anywhere else good eat as much as you want can't fault the place

The food was awful. The egg fried rice was just plain white rice with a few tiny fragments of scrambled egg and a few peas on top. The prawn toast was soggy and cold. It’s a shame because in the past this has been a good restaurant

was expecting a 40 or 50 minute wait. order arrived after 1hour and 50. dont know if the problem was with restaurant or delivery but food needed heating up.

Usually so so good. But tonight our rice and noodle dishes were so dry. Egg fried rice didn’t have much egg. Usually order in the week and been brilliant but our weekend order wasn’t good.

Sadly arrived late and cold for a second time, but food quality good as always.

I raised a query that our delivery did not include the rice although it was on the receipt and we’d paid for it. Just eat haven’t processed this or been in touch about it. Rest of food nice but needed some rice!

Visited for the first time in 3 years for our daughters birthday. The food was very poor, a mixture of what seemed like reheated dishes that were tasteless. The atmosphere was not good, with two what I can only describe as drunk people, who could be heard everywhere in the restaurant due to their loud conversation and profanities. The staff looked like they had just got out of bed, wearing whatever was close to them when they got up this morning. The children of the owners were playing online games in the restaurant and the staff rest area seemed to be in the restaurant also. The cost of the meal was extortionate for the standard of food, service and atmosphere. If you are a Carpenters fan you may enjoy the music, because that's the only music playing. I would not recommend anyone to visit this restaurant only to avoid it, a shame really, because the food used to be exceptional.

More expensive than other local Chinese options in Chesterfield, the quality shines through with this restaurant. The food was delicious, the vegetables fresh. I would order from here again - the extra money is well worth it.

Currently sat with a bucket next to me and can't stay off the toilet. Plain and simple, got food poisoning.

Disgusting meal and a waste of money!!..Chips was cold and had been re-heated god knows how many times 🤢 the other two meals was so disgusting everything has gone in the bin 😡 Was really looking forward to a take away but partner had to cook our food witch we will do always from now on 🙄

Food was freezing cold and hard unable to eat it, delivery was very late on tracking it showed that driver was driving around with food for 45 minutes, when rang restaurant to complain they were very rude, will never order from here again, waste of money.

Sorry but this was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. The Prawn crackers smelled like dog food and I’m sure most of the meat was off. It was truly awful

Do not order from here! Over 1hr and 20 mins late and half order missing!

Took 2 hours to receive order and when we did get the food it was cold, soggy and inedible because it had been in the back of the delivery car for over 45 minutes.

The food was okay, but wasn’t anything exceptional. The service however was the worst I’ve experienced in a long time. The staff were rude, told us off for trying to order two mains each (at an all you can eat). At £24 a person there are far better options.

A take away order. Bland and tasteless. The food was cold and soggy. Lots of better Chinese takeaways in the area. Did not enjoy at all and won't order again.

I've been to Mutiara before, but some time ago .. I ordered a sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice and was very disappointed .. basically all I got was very small pieces of batter and rice .. the sauce was nice, as was the rice but to pay almost £10 for batter and rice doesn't add up to me! I did tell the waitress that I was not impressed and she said she'd tell the chef but I heard no more.

Late, not great value for money and lacking a bit of taste

Im pretty sure it wasn’t lamb Szechuan and it wasn’t spicy! Ordered at 20:40, arrived just before 22:00.

Excellent food and delivery service

We have been coming to this restaurant since 2014. The food is always excellent, the service is always brilliant whether we are coming for date night or a big family meal. I always enjoy coming here, I would recommend the salt and chilli squid our family favourite! Many happy memories here and more memories to be made! A brilliant local restaurant that has never let us down and has always been fantastic.

Ordered food (delicious) at 6:30 for 8pm delivery, (because we knew on a Saturday night they would be busy) Phoned them as 8:25, to be told the driver had left, 5 minutes later the app said they had just left!!!! Excuse, busy and the weather, it was raining slightly!,,

Food was cold and not great. The delivery driver didn’t come to the door and called to say they didn’t want to come through the gate as it was closed.

One of the best Chinese Takeaways I’ve had.

Food was shocking. Chicken tasted like burnt rubber. Salt and pepper chips think they forgot to cook them and add the seasoning as they was dry and bland.

Visited last night 6th September for the first time for birthday family get together. Not sure about the negative reviews as we all enjoyed the food which was the all you can eat menu which is competitively priced as are the drinks. Service was very good and attentive. We were the only ones in but it was a Tuesday early evening so possibly the norm, anyway this did not detract from an enjoyable evening. Thank you.

Food was good overall, but we didn't get the aromatic duck for the set meal, only the vegetarian duck which was ordered as a separate item.

The food was amazing. The only problem was the communication barrier. I understand if you want an authentic experience its always better to go where the actual people from that country work at that type of restaurant but come on the majority of your customers are English so you would think your front of house waiters would be able to speak more than 2 words. But still didn't ruin the experience was quite funny.

We had to wait 1h 35 mins for our food, it was cold and the crispy duck was very dry, the chicken curry was very bland and the cucumber that came with the pancakes was just mush

Amazing, and I feel sorry for the delivery driver. The local council are useless with signposting the flat numbers on these blocks and it results in drivers having to walk around to like 10 different houses/blocks just to find the right one. I will be getting on at the council about it because it's unacceptable for all delivery drivers to have to deal with this.

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had. The ribs were inedible felt like I was chewing a leather boot, food came cold and the veg for crispy duck was stale!

Oh dear!pre covid this used to be a nice restaurant, unfortunately it isn’t anymore. The whole place needs a revamp, the toilets are not a pleasant experience. The drinks are way over priced and the food is dire, they have used the cheapest meat/ seafood possible and it shows, I shall not be returning and I wouldn’t recommend. The staff however were lovely and very attentive.

Didn’t deliver. Apparently knocked and waited I didn’t hear nothing and then left without even leaving the food outside or anything. Wasted £30 cos they couldn’t leave it outside.

Food wasn't good, hunt the prawn (5 prawns in our prawn dish) and received plain and bland rice instead of egg fried rice. Restaurant cheeky, to avoid 'late' comment they updated app to say it had been delivered! Simply not true... as food was over an hour late!

The rice was boiled instead of egg fried. The duck was dry and all the pancakes were stuck together and ripped apart when we tried to separate. The crispy beef was soggy and more like sweet and sour not chilli. Really disappointing

I'm not bothered about the lateness. I am bothered that it's 3am and I am spending more time in the bathroom than in bed. The nase goring wasn't nase goring it was just old fried rice. The chicken was OK... don't know what the fishy sausage slices were. I had to eat so I ate but genuinely this can't be what you serve normally. Anyway. Won't be back...

Loved everything except the Thai "fish cakes^. They were nothing like a fishcake, more like a rubbery patty. The sesame chicken and crispy beef were perfect and the satay sauce to die for.

Not authentic at all - rendang isn't remotely like rendang; sambal bawang is just some sweet n sour chilli jam stir fry... The food didn't taste bad but don't call it something it's not.
