Thai Terre in Wealden

We had a delicious meal with friends. We all decided to go for the set menu (for 4) which gave a good variety of Thai food. The atmosphere was buzzing. Staff were very friendly, thank you for a lovely evening!

Really disappointed with the food ! We’ve been here many times and the dishes we ordered have got less meat or chicken and just replaced with more veg ! The tiger steak which is £19.50 ….instead of a whole sirloin steak we used to have is now just a few slivers of beef !!! We won’t be returning !

We just had a takeaway and it was absolutely awful. The prawn crackers which we paid for were soft. Prawn salad nice . Chicken satay dry as a bone with a minute serving of sauce, Crab was mushy. Red curry insipid no chilli heat, sweet and sour chicken overly sweet with no sour notes. The weeping tiger was over done and in some sort of sweet disgusting gravy . We will not be back.

My husband decided to take me out on a date night and asked me where I wanted to go. After deliberation, I suggested Thai Terre as we could walk there from home and had only been in there once previously so it was time to try again. We ordered the mixed starters, then I had one of the Seabass dishes and hubby had a steak dish with all the lovely Thai herbs and spices. Pudding was The Royal pot and Fantastica. Their menu has lots of choice for all tastes and dietary needs. The quality of the food was excellent and really lovely thai staff too. Its not the cheapest night out but it was lovely

We came here twice while in the area. This is the best Thai food we have had in England or the United States. We had yummy Crispy Salmon, vegetable Pad Thai, chicken Massamam, and Crispy Duck. It was all delicious. Service was very good. Setting is lovely. We will be back if we return to the area.

Clean, uniformed food area. Lovely greeting person. Too much chilli in our dishes, in my opinion. Dumplings very small and over cooked. 2 starters, 2 mains, and 1 side 52£ I consider to be quite expensive. This was a take out meal, and the restaurant was recommended to us. Not horrible at all.

Found this restaurant while staying in the area on business. Live my thai food and I'm quite picky because I cook thai at home regularly. This place did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious, really well presented and freshly cooked. I had fish cakes and thai pork satay. Wow is all I can say, main course was beeg phenang with steamed jasmine rice. Wow again. (Had to take main course home because starters were ample but delicious. The service was quick, the staff were lovely and very attentive. If I lived here I'd be coming all the time ! If I get the chance I'll be back 🙏

Came for dinner as stayed in local hotel. Seated quickly with drinks orders taken. Food was classic Thai (yellow curry was on the menu which is often overlooked and we jumped on as love it) a side order came out wrong but was corrected within 5 minutes, very swift service. Can't fault anything. A very decent restaurant.

We met up with some friends for lunch who chose this restaurant as it was mid-way between where we lived. A great decision. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. We had the choice of the lunchtime menu or a la carte. We all chose the lunchtime option. We had some prawn crackers with chilli dip to keep us amused before our food arrived. We could hear the woks sizzling in the background as our food was being cooked. For starters three of us had the chicken satay whilst my husband had the fried tiger prawn. For mains two had oyster beef with rice, one had tad pai chicken whilst I had the singapore noodles with king prawns. For dessert we had ice cream. We shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio between us, as well as having tap water. All of the food was beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and very tasty. There was nothing left on our plates so it must have been good! Our waitress was lovely, very helpful but not intrusive. We all thought the lunch was excellent value for money. Thank you to everyone for a very enjoyable lunchtime.

We have supported this restaurant for the many years that it has been an Uckfield. I took my wife there a couple of weeks ago after a busy week to celebrate her achievements. We indeed told the owner that we think it’s one of the best Thai restaurants that we have eaten at. However the meal that we then had can only be described as terrible every single dish without a doubt had been in my opinion cook chilled bought it a wholesale warehouse heated up and served. There was absolutely nothing about the meal that gave one any sense that the cooking have been done on site. It was such a disappointment At the end of the meal the owner asked us if we enjoyed ourselves and we regrettably had to be honest to say that we didn’t and also whether they had a new chef because the quality food went from excellent to frankly unpalatable. The owner said that he thought the current chef which was indeed a new chef was better than the previous chef. Normally when a customer is dissatisfied a gesture is forthcoming but in this case utterly nothing this was the last time we will ever eat at this restaurant Absolutely shocking and I would avoid and tell everyone I know to avoid this restaurant at all costs

Highly recommended. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Be sure to check this place out if in the area, you will not be disappointed.

One of the best meals Iv had in a long time. Food had lots of flavour and was very well presented. Service and cleanliness was excellent. My first time at this restaurant but will definitely return, sooner rather than later.

Tasteless food, terrible service and poor value. We won’t be returning. Honestly, Thai food is all about flavour, how is is possible to have removed all garlic, ginger, chilli? Watery sauces and starters that all were obviously pre-frozen and bought in. Having waited over an hour for our mains, while we watched about 30 takeaway orders go out the door, only to be so disappointed with what arrived, we couldn’t wait to leave. They admitted they had staffing problems but they should be focussing in the quality of the food in the restaurant rather than the fancy carved vegetables and getting takeaways out of the door.

We haven't been to this restaurant in a very long-time and were looking forward to a tasty meal out. Overall we were rather disappointed - this was mainly due to the portion sizes. We ordered a mixed starter for 2, when it came out it looked like just enough food for 1 person. The chicken skewers were thin and didn't have much meat on them. I was expecting the plate to be dressed up more - it looked very minimalist. Main courses were currys- again tasted ok but not many prawns in my thai green curry and the rice bowls were too small for my liking.

Seven of our family met here for a birthday dinner. Could not fault the food and all our different choices were fantastic. Very prompt and polite service. Would go more often, but unfortunately rather far from home.

We went here when on holiday in the area and enjoyed an evening meal here. The staff were friendly, the restaurant was clean and the food was very nice. We would visit again if we were in the area.

An excellent meal. Really nice, relaxed, unfussy staff. The mixed starters were particularly good - hot, fresh, delicious. Spring rolls can be soggy but these really hit the spot. My yellow curry was moreish. Can't fault this restaurant.

My partner and I visited Uckfield and stayed in a hotel local to the high street, we didn’t know the area and both fancied a Thai. We looked at some reviews for Thai terre and to be honest we was unsure but we decided to try for ourselves! And it was simply AMAZING! First of all the staff are so lovely and so friendly. We ordered the mix starters for two and it was delicious, not too greasy and the taste was beautiful.For our main I ordered the the lamb masaman and it melted in my mouth! So I would certainly recommend!!. The authentic flavours and gorgeously presented food you wouldn’t want to miss out! Overall it was such a pleasant experience with proper Thai food and brilliant service! I’m not from the area but when we return we will definitely be back here. Having been here for awhile, so popped in for lunch. We had the set menu, excellent value, food was freshly prepared, tasted delicious and beautifully presented. The Singapore noodles with king prawns were perfect. My conclusion....what has taken me so long to return? Will be back soon.

I have eaten at Thai Terre on many occasions with friends and family. We all agree that the food has always been fresh and delicious. So good in fact it is always my first choice when getting a take away when working late from home. The staff are very well presented and always polite. So good to have an outlet that sets such a high standard. Highly recommended to anybody wanting a delightful evening or lunchtime treat.

We ordered a pick up take away this evening. Very excited as we love Thai. My husband ate a scollops from one of the items and said it tasted odd. I didn’t eat it and he didn’t eat anymore. We are the rest of our food instead, curries/ dim sum/ soup/ pad Thai etc. I became poorly within an hour of the food from here. And have continued being unwell. My poor husband has be horrendously ill. On ringing the restaurant to let them know that their scollops were not ok and maybe stop serving them, I got a rude lady tell me basically it wasn’t her problem and to go to a doctor! Very cross and appalled by the service here and the food clearly not being right!

Choice of three set courses, all very reasonably priced. Ours was delicious and the portions were very generous. We even had a complimentary glass of Prosecco each. Every time we have been the service has been excellent and the staff are always charming. Lovely evening - thank-you!

We have recently moved into the area and as we are both big fans of Thai cuisine, we wanted to try out our local Thai. I have honestly never had such a shockingly bad takeaway experience. Firstly the man that took my order was so rude to me in the way he spoke. He made me feel like I was unconvincing him by placing an order and asking simple questions.We had two starters both of which we actually only ate a small amount of because the vegetable tempuras batter wasn’t even done, it was white and just tasted like flour and oil. The second was a tofu satay which was basically a vegetable kabab with a few pieces of tofu and the satay sauce in such a small pot that it barely covered two of the three kababs. The vegetables tasted like smoke and was pretty much raw. The red Thai curry we had was ok, nothing mind blowing tasted like anyone could have made it, not a trained chef. We genuinely left most of the meal and we actually both felt quiet sick the rest of the evening. Save yourself a waste of time and money and eat somewhere else. Such a shame there isn’t another Thai restaurant in Uckfield!

2nd visit here after quite a long time. Both times the food has been very good. Service is good also. Friendly staff.The noise levels at our first visit were uncomfortably high, but the place was jammed full. This time it was busy but not full (Saturday night), and noise level not an issue, so all was very good.Only down side, was two items added to our bill which we didn’t have. After pointing this out, the issue was quickly and well resolved, but you remain sceptical when this happens. Lucky I always check the bill.However, mistakes happen and will be visiting here again.

Thai is normally my favourite food , but tonight just was the worse Thai food ever ,starter come basically 3 to 4 minutes after ordering ,mixed stater clearly deep fried from frozen ,and extra spare ribs tasteless.

I booked this as a treat for a special birthday for my husband. Thai food is his favourite and we were staying in the area. I am not a lover of Thai food so I go by my husband 'the connoisseur" who said it was excellent. He had the monkfish green curry: he said he thought it would be tiny bits of the fish but it was big chunks. We wanted it a pudding and normally they are not that good but we went for it anyway with the banana fritters. Expecting the worse (soggy and dripping in oil) we were delighted to find that they were gorgeous. Only slight criticism is that the staff could be a little bit more friendly.

My wife and I were staying at a nearby hotel and decided to wonder into town for dinner. It was our anniversary and we wanted something special. This restaurant truly delivered, staff were friendly and welcoming. They were also patient and helpful as this was my first time at a Thai restaurant and my wife had not had Thai in a while.

My husband and I decided to visit this restaurant as part of our wedding anniversary celebration, after reading the positive reviews we chose to eat there.

We have been to Thai Terre in Uckfield many times and it never fails to impress me. The food is always fantastic and waiting staff very friendly. The salt and pepper squid on the specials many is just incredible as is the Panaeng dish. Best restaurant in Uckfield hands down.

I would recommend you go . . . Its a perfect place for a romantic meal for two at a very good price always good to book before hand

Our first visit to celebrate a birthday. Nice table in the window. Already busy at 7pm, a good sign! Service was attentive and prompt without being rushed. Excellent menu choices for all tastes without being confusing. Portions sensibly sized. Meat tender and vegetables fresh. We will return. Thanks.

As would be expected on a Friday evening the restaurant was very busy.

Finally great to find a thai/Chinese eat in restaurant in the area. Really lovely food including traditional Thai and Chinese dishes with lots of items on the menu. My Mum had a beef curry and said it was lovely and tender - some of the best she had eaten. Portion sizes are really generous too. Service was very quick and friendly and great atmosphere. Only criticism is the limited set menu, would be good to have a vegetarian option or a menu for 2 minimum (not 4).

Superb food with wonderful flavours and efficient polite service. In summary "The Best". We highly recommend you should try it ASAP.

Wow. Visited Thai Terre last night as part of a group of 5. First visit so was looking forward to trying somewhere new. The place was really full and there was a great atmosphere. Skipped starters to focus on main course (they all looked and smelled great though). I had a noodle dish and a dry curry which were both delicious. Really authentic flavours - wonderful. We will be back (again and again).

It was with modest expectations I entered the new Thai restaurant in Uckfield, newly opened following the departure of the eminent Indian restaurant Indian Pepper. Could this be the new Saturday hub for recreational dining I wondered. Could this be a decent or even great addition to the limited leisure activities Uckfield high street has to offer? I was soon to be made aware. The dark and murky wooden interior of the premises had been kept and the wall ornaments replaced with grazing elephants and chests of Buddha. We were received joyfully by a slightly sweaty and stressed waiter who after a few confused moments showed us to the table.

Unable to fault the food here and the presentation is an art that I have not experienced before. Massamam with lamb cutlets is to die for.

Four of us went for my birthday treat and not only was the food excellent but the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the mixed starter and steamed pork dumplings. All the items were tasty and freshly cooked. Two of us had a fish curry, one crispy salmon in a sweet red curry sauce and the other whole steamed sea bass. The portions were really generous and the sauces superb. It is the first time I have had a fish curry in this country and it was excellent. We will certainly go again and before my next birthday!!

The service here is 10/10, as is the food. We ordered pork dim sum, prawns, then Thai green curry, coconut rice and duck in taramind sauce. Utterly delicious. Will return very soon!!

We had a quiet anniversary meal here which was good value for money, very tasty and in a pleasant atmosphere. £60 including the tip for two three course meals but no alcohol. Food is fresh and the menu broad. Will definitely go again.

So it was Uckfield carnival last night and we wanted to go to it but eat first. We did a check for local restaurants and found this place, so after looking at the reviews we called to book, people very nice on the phone and we got a table for 7pm. The place is nice and clean and the staff are very welcoming and Engage with you. We have 2 kids 4 and 6 and they were so nice to them it really made a difference as some places don’t want kids.

Having been to many Thai restaurants and eaten authentic Thai due to my Thai sister in law, this place has to be the worse.

The lunch menu is varied well done and well served, uually in a largely empty restaurant. The evening is very different, best to book ahead, even in midweek. The menu is much larger, and naturally more expensive. However the price is reasonable, and compares well with other Thai restaurants in the local area.

We enjoyed the food here. Tom Yum was great. The service was friendly and the space is relaxing. We will go back for sure.

My first visit here but it wont be the last. The restaurant occupies the former Pepper Dining premises at the top end of the town and has been fully refurbished to provide a very pleasant setting.

Living in London I've had my fair share of Thai, one of my favourite cuisines. When I am out of London though I prefer to sample food from the area. However it was a rainy day and Thai Terre was both local and convenient. It was also the perfect option for my 5 year-old who loves Thai food, so we ended up here.

First time visit with friends who had been before. Good service and nice surroundings. Food nice but nothing amazing but I think that's just my opinion of thai food which is not my favourite!

So impressed with this place, Wednesday night and full and not surprised, we had the set menu which was perfect, great service, amazing food, we all love Thai and have it a lot all over Europe when traveling and this place is the best in as long as I can remember, brilliant

We booked for a Saturday night after a really busy day, and wanted a change from the usual pub meals. We were greeted immediately and shown to a table in the centre of the room. Unfortunately, the overhead bulb kept "blinking", and occasionally switched itself off and then on again, which was really annoying. We pointed this out and it was obvious that it was a known problem. We were immediately offered another table, which we accepted. We do not know much about Thai food, but the menu explains what the offered options are, which is very helpful. We highly recommend the shared starter plate if you are not sure about Thai food: this give a very good introduction. We seemed to choose well, as we both thought the food was very good, as was the service. We will certainly return, as we enjoyed our evening and would like to learn more about Thai food.

We were very excited to have a Thai restaurant in Uckfield as most are Indian. I have now been about 5 times due to the convenience of location, being able to walk there and back allowing everyone to have a drink. However every time I have been there I have felt it a little lacking in one way or another. Last time I went was last week and the starter dumplings 'minced prawn and crab' were still fridge cold in the middle, which meant they were returned and replaced, but I was surprised we were still charged.. The time before that the waitress was clearly trying to hurry us up by hovering near the table and grabbing any empty plate. It was a busy night but we had booked, had starters, main, drinks and sweet and obviously took longer than their bookings had allowed for.. we felt rushed out which was a real shame as it was a special occasion..another time I was with a freind and on a table for two but the table were so close that everyone that pushed past banged the table, including the waitress taking an ordere, we had her bottom on our table as she was serving those next to us.. Sadly therefore it is not our favourite Thai which is a shame when it is so close to home. The food is lovely and tasty and on a quiet night the atmosphere is pleasant, but on a busy night unless you have a wall or window seat it can feel crammed in.

Thai Terre also have a restaurant in East Dean and both are excellent. This one hasn't been opened for very long but the food is really very very good, portions quite generous and the staff friendly and welcoming. We have another group gathering next month (August) and will be making another reservation.

I have eaten Thai and chinese for many years, and this is truly authentic and top class food. Portions are good, prices are fair and service is very good also. Amazing green curry flavour !!! what a find.

Visited for the third time at the weekend and this restaurant continues to offer great food and service. Lovely meal with friends and clean plates all round. Very reasonable and will be returning again soon.

This to me is the best restaurant in Sussex. The East Dean location has been our go to place for celebrating for years and the Uckfield location is just as good.

Further to being recommended this restaurant by a couple of colleagues I took my friend for a meal. I've got nothing bad to say about it, the staff were extremely friendly and the the atmosphere is pleasant. My only negative point would be the menu isn't the most exciting and if I'm honest I have had better Thai food, that said I wouldn't tell anyone not to eat here.

Am in Uckfield regularly for work and Thai Terre has become a hot favourite for my colleagues and I.

Our first visit to this restaurant with friends proved to be a great success. We received a warm and friendly welcome. The menu was well displayed and an excellent choice of food. The atmosphere and decor were delightful. The food met all our expectations and we will certainly be visiting again.

Super meal last night, my second visit to Thai Terre and the food was very enjoyable. The crispy Salmon special is highly recommended, my friends both had curries and were equally happy too! Very nice atmosphere to dine in too although it does get noisy when busy. I will be returning :-)
