Had a takeaway last night which was lovey as usual, most impressed with the delivery driver whom I gave too much cash to. He was honest and returned to explain my mistake with the overpayment 👏

Best curry house in Crowbourgh! The service is fantastic with the staff going above and beyond for you. The food is consistently outstanding.

Had the Mahkani Chicken with a little extra spice and I can quite honestly say it was the best curry that I have ever had. The mixture of the creaminess with the spice and flavour was unbelievable and the Saag Aloo on the side was delicious.

Friendly accommodating staff, food is delicious. Reasonably priced. I suppose if being really critical the restaurant could do with a bit of a spruce up, for example the toilets, but we really enjoyed our meal here.

Went last night and although the food was still good, the staff were so rude. I've been going there for 20 years and none of the usual people were working there. Perhaps they were on a post Christmas break.

What a menu choice. Coming from Australia where Indian food menus are very limited, it took me half an hour to read through the menu & try to decide what I was going to eat. I have dietary issues & they were great & I ate items that I love but haven't been able to eat for years. The food was excellent.

New to Indean food so wanting to try somthing new so had a supreme biryani an it was spot on full of flavour and meat even the veg curry that came with it was great, you will not be disappointed

This is my first review in some time, as I don't normally leave a review unless it was either very good, or very poor. Sadly in this case my takeaway last night is the latter. I ordered a Prawn Puri as a starter, which was bland and a real effort to eat. No noticeable spice flavour. The Garlic Chilli Chicken was in fact unpleasant, I managed three mouthfuls before I gave up. Unable to say what overpowered it but it only vaguely tasted like curry and I found offensive to the palate, and the chicken was very dry. The Sag Paneer was better in terms of flavour, but I was disappointed with how little paneer was in the dish. I also ordered a mushroom rice, which didn't seem like the usual fried pilau rice with mushrooms stirred through affair - this was more like a boiled rice with mushrooms. I was a takeaway customer and there seems to be no specific waiting area. I was asked to sit and wait on a single chair adjacent to the front door, next to a pile of stacked chairs by a table that provided restricted access. In summary. had I need a dine in customer, the whole meal would have been sent back as woefully inferior. Sadly, the best part of the experience was the bootle of Bangla whilst waiting. I shall not return.

Had a takeaway cold, meat chewie prawn puri no flavour salad came in a pot the size of an egg cup no poppadoms no mango chuckney very poor.

Yum! Really tasty Indian with a huge range of dishes- loads I’d never heard of before either. We got a mix of fish, veggie and meat and everything tasted delicious. The Amere Chicken was a lovely alternative to a creamy curry, the lamb was cooked to perfection, and all the portions were really generous. Thanks so much, we had such a lovely family meal !

The best Indian food in Crowborough. The menu has a wide choice, including excellent vegan and vegetarian dishes (as you would expect from an Indian) but only instant coffee was available, otherwise 5 stars.

Living in Heathfield i lost faith in the indian restaurants so decided to try this one tonight for the first time i can say i will return the food was on point the taste was excellent and i will try eating in the new year. Thank you for a first experience of trying your restaurant.

The Rose of Bengal is an excellent place to eat, socialise with friends and family or dine out with a takeaway! The food we had at our recent family meal was outstanding and authentically cooked freshly to order! The service was first class and the waitress was attentive, but not over powering. We will definitely be back soon!

This was always my go to Indian but lately feel it's gone downhill. The portions seem smaller, the flavour is off not the same and takeaways are never as good as eat in for some reason. I don't know if it's a change of chef? I've gone back to the Raj and it's been very good. Sorry but l like to be honest.

Quite the worst Indian meal I've had in recent times. My Tandoori Chicken was dry as a bone, and my Lamb Rogan Josh ("superb cut of lamb") was inedibly chewy. My wife's samosas were fatty and her Chicken Tikka was chewy and tasteless. It was as though everything had been reheated at least once.

Just collected Jafrazy and a hot veg curry are they meant to be cooked in exactly the same soup can't call it a sauce gutted when people rave about the place

We had a takeaway for obvious reasons. The dishes were ok. Unfortunately the chicken was either frozen or really poor quality and this spoilt the meal for us. The lamb tikka was below par. 5/10 overall. Shame because they have been there a long time, maybe too complacent?

Just had our first ever takeaway from Rose of Bengal, and it was disappointing. (Eaten in the restaurant before, and it has been really nice in the past). The rice, naan and onion bhajis were lovely, however the main dishes were not great, I had the Chicken Malaya, and the chicken was really really dry, chewy and the sauce tasted artificial, like a cheap curry sauce, no depth of flavour. My mum had Makhani Chicken Tikka, the chicken was ok, but the sauce was almost fluorescent orange which makes you wonder what’s in it and had a strange consistency, and again tasted artificial. However my dad had Lamb Chettinad and he said that was good. So a bit of a mixed bag really.

Once you've had curry from this place you won't want to go anywhere else. It's exceptional. Best in the UK in my humble opinion. Can't wait to return.

Just ordered a takeaway from this establishment. Not impressed! it’s gone downhill with regards to consistency. Chicken has been over cooked and is very dry able to eat, sauce and rice on the other hand are of an exceptional standard. I’m disappointed as this was considered my favourite place to visit when eating curry

Leaving Crowborough after 8 years and will be sorry not to eat here so often as I have done. I’ve calculated 500+ meals either takeaways and eat ins so that must prove my rating as 5 star plus. People brilliant, food fantastic and service spot on. I’m fairly sure I won’t find anywhere as good in my next town.

I've been eating in The Rose of Bengal since I was a kid in the early 80's, the food and service is always superb, highly recommended.

Emailed the day before to ask about vegan options and was invited to give the restaurant a call. They walked me through which dishes could and could not be made vegan. Ordered a takeaway of masala with plain rice, vegetable samosas, sag aloo, chapati and poppadoms. Advised thirty minute wait which was bang on. Staff were wearing masks when I picked the order up. A slight confusion over which dish had been made vegan but quickly sorted by the staff. Food tasted amazing with good portion sizes. Will definitely order again and visit when lockdown is over.

Grew up in the town and every time I come back you know the best curry is at the Rose of Bengal. Very friendly team that run the curry house. Food is delicious, if you’re a heat seeker be wary the vindaloo is mild compared to other curry houses in Crowborough. Never fails to disappoint. If you don’t know which to go for always pick here.

I’ve come and gone to Crowborough through my life but after 15years I’ll still always return to the rose of Bengal for a curry. Great team that run it, consistently delicious food and service. For heat seekers worth noting the vindaloo runs mild compared to other curry houses in Crowborough.

Visited the wonderful Rose last Saturday night. Excellent food and service as ever! The restaurant was full and buzzing right from relatively early evening, so that goes to show how popular it is! You need to book if it’s a Friday or Saturday or you are likely to be disappointed. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for a curry in this area!! Five stars!

Food was, ok nice and hot, but drinks let them down badly, coke came out of a plastic bottle and was warm and not very fizzy. They could do with better lighting, could hardly read menue.

What brilliant food, really up there with the best Indian food. Place is centrally located, there is plenty of parking nearby. The staff are pretty good, but its the food. Was pretty quiet the evening we went.

A few friends and I had a takeaway twice last month-at first I was hesitant to try their food as I have been so disappointed with other local Indian restaurants/takeaways,but a friend who had eaten there before, recommended this place. Have to admit, the food was very tasty and flavoursome -not too greasy/oily,or a soggy mess! .What I rate as extremely important too is the fact that a member of staff was able to point out which dishes were suitable for vegans,and when he wasn't sure about one of my queries, he asked the chef for confirmation.Will be ordering again and probably visit the restaurant in person too.

We have a good selection of curry houses in Crowborough, but the Rose is by far the best. Super friendly staff and cannot make you feel more welcome. The go to place for a sit in meal, but their takeaways are also superb. Naans taste super fresh!

We have been visiting this restaurant at least once a month for the past year. The food is delicious and the service is great. It's a little pricey in comparison with other local Indians, but it's certainly worth it.
