We fancied a good Thai meal after golf at Castle Combe. We walked into an empty restaurant on a Wednesday evening around 7 pm and were welcomed by the staff. Obviously it felt strange to be in an empty restaurant but 4 other couples came in before we left. We chose the two course menu at £25.95 each and it was very pleasant without being exceptional. Was it value for money. We would say average. Have we had better for the same price. Definitely yes. So all in all it was quite edible but not great value for money and it lacked atmosphere. Will we return. Unfortunately not.

Haven’t been to Thai Taste (Kitchen) in ages and as it was our Anniversary we thought it would be a good place to go celebrate. We’ve been a few times over the years and even had a cheeky take away during Covid and have always enjoyed it. This evening was absolutely perfect, the restaurant is now open 5.30-10.30 every night which is great as so many places close week nights now. We had the mixed starter which was superb followed by a Pad Thai and a Beef Panang. All the food was perfectly cooked, crispy, fresh and delicious. Throughout the evening Yuphin was a brilliant host, so personable, fun and welcoming. Nothing was too much bother and we had such a nice time. Then to cap it all she brought us a complimentary dessert to help celebrate our special night. We’ve always loved going and today just made us love it more. In our opinion it’s one of the best restaurants in Wiltshire!

This is a quirky place but the people and the food are simply fantastic. We tried the set menu for two people and it was very impressive (in terms of both quantity and quality). We can strongly recommend this restaurant for genuine Thai flavours and hospitality

This was my first visit to Thai Kitchen, as it's now known. We were in a large group. The food was lovely, and I took leftovers with me, as I didn't want to waste anything. I had the Garlic and Black pepper sea bass from chef's specials. I would definitely go again.

The food here has always been good, though the price increase is frustrating. But what has capped it for us, and ensured that we will never visit again, is the implementation of the compulsory (unless you want to be made to feel mean by the serving staff) 10% service charge, which is added to your bill without this being made explicitly clear. We have always tipped here, as the service is generally good. But it should be the customer’s choice to reward good service, and not the restaurant’s insistence. Won’t be back. There are plenty of equally good Thai restaurants who don’t do this.

An awful experience from start to finish. The restaurant is filthy, the food is very expensive, extremely poor quality, microwaved rice and lukewarm curries. The worst Thai restaurant on the planet, an insult to Thailand and it’s wonderful people. After spending 73.00 for two people, we left hungry and feeling completely disgusted by the whole experience. On lifting the spoon to plate my Thai green curry all you could smell was ammonia… The beef massaman was so sour and the beef looked like cheap dog food.

We’ve been using Thai Taste for a number of years, take always and eating in & have recommended it to friends . We got a takeaway tonight , prices have increased by 50% recently & the meals were nothing like the usual standard , much smaller. We won’t be using again , it will be a trip to Bath to a restaurant instead .I’m sure we won’t be alone . Such a shame as I always prefer to support businesses but sadly no longer this one

Outside front door is piles of rubbish not even bagged and no bin, a dumping ground for clutter and storage and this is where the door to the kitchen is, to make things worse, there were rats, not just droppings! Inside they seriously need to do some housework, massive thick cobwebs everywhere, hanging over the tables of food and filthy carpets. Food hardly warm in spice or temperature, Rice needed to be cut with knife and fork and still plonked out like a sand castle. On asking it worked out that none of the vegetarian food is suitable! Allergy risks. Health and hygiene here is major risky.

Lovely location and good, authentic Thai food with generous portions. I suggest being clear when ordering as I asked hot and sour (Tom Yum) soup but was given the much richer Tom Kha though they replaced it (my wife also ordered a small wine and received a big one). My email and contact form reservation were also not received so I recommend calling. Around £30/head for 2 courses & drinks. Minor points as overall a really enjoyable meal even though they were very busy on a Saturday night.

Having decided to do a last minute trip away to break up January we hadn’t given our evening meal a second thought. A quick Google we saw this. Thinking it was a takeaway with few chairs, we could not be more wrong. Tucked away a minute from the main square just behind The Rose pub is waiting cosy Thai restaurant . Friendly welcome. Ordered quickly. The food was fresh and delicious. Really unique flavours and spices. My son is INCREDIBLY fussy and he finishes all his food. They were great at his requirements. I do not normally feel compelled to write a restaurant review, but WOW, what a fantastic little hidden gem tucked away off the Market Square in Chippenham! Fabulous food and owners, who are very friendly. We visited recently during the Christmas and New Year period and had the entire restaurant to ourselves! If my husband was writing this review he would be raving about the ribs... he said he'll be back for the ribs starter, followed by the ribs main, as he loved it so much. We also shared the duck spring rolls, which were delicious and beautifully presented. For our mains we shared the vegetable rice, which was very tasty. The vegetables were so fresh and plentiful, and would have been a lovely dish on its own. However, we had accompanying curries to go with the rice. After our meaty starters, I went for the tofu green curry, which also did not disappoint. It was a big portion after our starters, so the staff were more than happy to put the remainder into a takeaway box to enjoy the next day. For afters we shared a banana fritter with ice cream, which was a delicious way to end a perfect meal. We enjoyed the Thai ice tea to go with our meal, which like everything else... was delicious! The people of Chippenham are very lucky to have this restaurant... we will be back in 2022!

29/10/21 We three middle aged pescatarian guys were up in Chippenham to sort family affairs for one of us. We arrived earlier in the evening after a long journey from London and wanted an evening meal out. Knowing that this is quite a larey town on Friday and Saturday nights we were looking for a quieter place with good reviews. This was an option and when we arrived at the adjacent pub we saw it was very quiet there except for a group of people dancing in the bar (not quite our scene) then we saw signs for the restaurant itself pointing further right. We peered through the windows to see at least four diners in a big barn of a place so we went into the door and were greeted by a lady who showed us to a table and presented us with menus. We chose a wide variety of starters, tofu main dishes and a white wine (£16.50) to start with as well as a jug of tap water. The wine came in good time and it was fine. It went down very quickly! The food followed on in good time, also delivered by a very jolly lady who it turned out was filling in for the owner who had medical problems which took her away from front of house and waitering. We had a nice conversation and she brought the owner out later to chat. We had been to Thailand before but to the West side (Trang etc.) not the touristy side, that was badly affected by the tsunami a couple of years later. We appreviated the local food there. The food was very tasty, generous and spicy, all delicious. We had ordered too much but I was determined to leave clean plates so ate a lot! We were happy with the way they had cooked the tofu. A second bottle, (£13.95) this time a house rose was ordered to accompany the food and as better than the first white we thought. The other two couples finished their meals by 22:20 and left so we were alone and had more time to chat to the staff, even having a picture taken of us! The first waitress was from the Philippines, somewhere we gave not been to. We ordered the bill at 22:35 which came as separate food and drinks handwritten bill. The bill pictures do not show what we actually ordered but the total was £91 paid by card and we left a £6 cash tip. Altogether a pleasant experience that we might repeat when in town again as away from the noisier part of the town. It should have more custom though, especially on a Friday night. Well worth going to!

This cosy courtyard restaurant is set in a charming building. We didn't book but were seated quickly. Service was fine if perfunctory. We ate dim sum ( standard Chinese pre frozen) and chilli squid, which came in batter rather than flash fried with a dusting of seasoned flour as I would expect.Thai green curry was nice,if fairly mild by Thai standards, but the real let down was the pad Thai which was achingly sweet and congealed in an unattractive lump. I picked out the prawns and left the rest, explaining that I wasn't happy with it when the waitress eventually came to clear the plate. No apology, no discount off the bill, no offer of a replacement.Give this place a go if you're not bothered about authentic tasting food. We will not be going back.

I own a place in Thailand so I know my Thai food (well I like to consider I do)... I was able to help the others with some traditional Thai food and not just what normally gets served up in UK Thai restaurants. Chicken Ma Sa Man is very good and I also noticed but did t have the jungle curry. They even had Chang and singha beers in small bottles, shame they weren't 45p like they are in Thailand! All in all a great meal and ambience provided partly by the semi drunk friends I was with but more so the Thai waitresses with which I tried my well learnt Thai phrases.. Would go back if in the town

Our current favourite Chippenham restaurant. Authentic food. Genuinely friendly staff though one or two struggle with English. A good selection of dishes - we tend to get a variety of starters - chicken stay, chilli squid, spare ribs - and share them from the middle of the table. Need to take care not to have too much before the main course though. Prices seem reasonable on the menu but its easy to spend more than you anticipated with starters and sides and drinks...

Have only been here a few times keep forgetting it's there hidden behind the rose and crown pub ( nothing to do with it thank goodness)We went Valentine's weekend but as always a great experience ,the restaurant is essentially an old barn / stable but it's been nicely decorated with Thai fabrics etc , the staff are very efficient and very polite and would make the most unfamiliar customer to Thai cuisine very comfortable. We had the mixed starter a selection of beautiful tastes and sensations excellently presented My partner had the chicken and cashew and I the green Thai curry ( this I have to say was the most delicious aromatic dish I have had for years ) we shared a jasmine rice . My only criticism is the wine list does not match the quality of the cuisine ,go to the trouble of good fresh ingredients for the food and then populate a wine list with very poor Bulk wine is unfortunate and more wines for Asian fare should be added ie Riesling Gewurtraminer That said it's a great little place to have a tasty meal

We have been to this restaurant twice in the last few months, and both times we were most impressed with the freshness and quality of the food. We prefer Thai food to Chinese food - the flavours are more subtle, and the food is freshly cooked to order - and the vegetables are superb. It is a family run business, and the service is always good; the staff are always cheerful and laughing, and will explain any dish that you are not sure of.We have also had a couple of "takeaways" from here, and the standard is just as good.Prices are reasonable, and extremely good value for the standard of the meals. If you like Thai food, you will love this restaurant.

A welcome addition to Chippenham's eateries. We did not know what to expect, but all four of us were pleasantly surprised! Finding our way in proved a little tricky as it is situated out of the way. The entrance is also little unkempt, but once seated it is fine. We all had different starters and mains and all the meals were declared good. The tastes were subtle and the portions ideal. We left feeling replete, not bloated. The staff are friendly and have a sense of humour as well. It was a Saturday night and the place was full creating a pleasant atmosphere. I love when they set up little restaurants attached to pubs; it means the original furnishings are always that of a typical British catering establishment but, in this case, it was comically disguised by Thai knick-knacks! Many might find this off-putting, but I love it.The place was packed and even though we didn't book, we waited 5 minutes and were found a table. Marvellous. We ordered a bottle of Thai wine (so sweet it would make Ribena taste like Fino sherry) and a platter of mixed starters, both of which were brought speedily. The starters were good albeit unadventurous: a selection if deep-fried, minced and sauced bites. All delicious, mind. For the mains we had a tofu pad Thai and Thai basil chicken, with an egg fried rice on the side. Both mains were very tasty, although for me they could have been a tad spicier, but I'm sure I'll get over it.All in all it was a good value, yummy and fun meal. The service was speedy and friendly. Even though I'm not from Chippenham, I recognise this as a welcome addition to the town's somewhat boring portfolio of places to eat.

Venue lacks atmosphere. Food was delicious and a great choice. Service average. The bill was very expensive so not good value for money at all. They must have charged a lot of money for the proseco and wine as the prices on the menu for food looked about right. The other downside is a few of us were feeling quite poorly later that evening and the whole of the following day, I am pretty certain it was the as a result of the the food. We had arranged to meet up with friends for a meal at the Thai Taste in Chippenham on a Friday night in May.We managed to book a table for 7:15 and we all turned up. The staff were friendly and smiley (in the usual Thai fashion) and we were shown to our seats and given menus. Our waitress took our orders for starters, main and drinks and we settled down to wait for our goodies. The wine arrived promptly, the starters soon after. My dear lady wife and and I shared the mixed starter, our friends had the duck spring roll and the Thai Sweet Corn and Prawn Cake with Thai Mango Chutney. The place was now fully occupied by people enjoying their food and so we waited a little for our mains, but not too long. I tucked into my Phad Thai prawns (a piquant noodle dish), the beloved and one of our friends had a chicken massoman curry (tasty and mild), and our other friend had the Jumbo Prawns in Baked Aubergine, Basil, Chilli & Sweet Chilli PasteThe wine and conversation had been flowing and I can't remember the name of my dessert but though it looked like a mass of different coloured gloops, it was very tasty, and the dearest went for banana fritters, one friend had the Thai rice with red beans and the other vanilla ice cream. We can heartily recommend the Thai Taste and I expect we'll be popping back in the not too distant future!

I can't believe I haven't eaten here before but I certainly will again and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

4 of us visited the Thai Taste on a Saturday night just after christmas. Although we are fairly local for some reason we have not been before. The restaurant is quite hidden down an alleyway but is very pleasant . It isn't a posh restaurant but was warm and relaxed. All 4 of us found the food delicious however I would avoid the mixed sharing starter as although it was nice there was not much to go around 3 people for the princely sum of £8.95 per head. For main course I opted for the duck & pineapple curry whilst the rest of the party ordered pad thai, sweet & sour chicken & tarimind duck. Each dish was fresh and vibrant and some of the nicest Thai food I have had for a very long time.We did have pud but to be honest I wouldn't bother again, it's just not what you go to a Thai restaurant for !Service was polite & attentive and we had no problem with waiting times between courses as previous reviewers have picked up on. Having said that it was not very busy.We took our own wine as we had read on a previous review that it was 'bring your own' when we arrived however this was not the case.In summary a delightful restaurant with great food & I'm already looking forward to going back

Having moved to a sleepy town last year its safe to say that my husband and I have missed a good authentic thai meal. Having searched on trip advisor, we found our nearest thai restaurant with decent reviews was in chippenham so we booked a taxi and arrived! The service was lovely, it was bring your own booze which my husband isn't a fan off but I think is a pretty good idea. The menu was pretty basic but featured all the signature thai dishes. We shared 3 starters (yes, we're pretty serious about our food) dim sum, squid and pork on toast (a nice change to traditional prawn) all were very tasty. My main was chicken massaman and rice, hubby had chicken with basil with sticky rice. We also ordered a small portion of noodles which we didn't need as we were both stuffed. I loved it. Service good, tasty food and great prices. The carpet could be relayed and more attention to the decor. Other than that, thoroughly enjoyed and we will be returning.

This Thai restaurant hidden away from the main street is a delight to visit. Had to drop a family member off in Chippenham so stopped off for a meal here. The starter was a mixed plate for 3 people of all your usual Thai starters, the crab cakes were delicious. For the main course, we were spoilt for choice, our group all chose different items, the duck and noodles were my choice, duck was cooked to perfection. All the food was served very hot and service was prompt with friendly attentive staff. An excellent restaurant.

Booked last minute whilst visiting in laws. Not one for Thai but really have to admit this was pretty nice. Had the chicken satay skewers to start, the sauce was delish but too small a dish for four pieces. My main was the red pineapple and veg curry which was lovely n spicy. I got sticky rice which was again lovely but v small portion to mop up all the sauce. Everyone else enjoyed the food and declared it good, only negative comments were the fish cakes weren't all that great and no-one liked the shell on prawns except my husband who prefers them that way. Yes I'd go back. Thanks for a nice meal

I visited this restaurant with my husband as another restaurant we had planned to go to was closed. Well I have to say this place was great. We were greeted as we walked in by a waitress and shown straight to a table. The food we ordered came out hot and you could tell it was freshly cooked. It tasted delicious and we didn't wait long for the food. This restaurant is definitely worth trying, we are quite limited in chippenham for really good restaurants, so I am glad we have this little gem.

I really enjoyed every aspect of this meal. The starter was delicious. My daughter and I bought two starters, Duck pancakes and salt and pepper squid and shared them. Yummy!!!The main, Pad Tai, was totally scrummy but slightly on the small side for a main, especially as it was a noodle dish and noodles are cheap! Having said that, I was actually satisfied by the end of the meal... The service was good, but we went early on a weeknight, so the place was almost deserted. One girl covering everything from bar to table. A very pleaseant meal.

We booked and visited on a Friday evening and the place was full. We placed our food order and the starter arrived without too much trouble but then we had a wait on an hour for the main. Trying to pay the bill was the most difficult part and waited for ages. The starter was nice but too expensive for what it was, £18 for a very small selection. When the mains arrived everything seemed like it was over seasoned and the shells were still left on the prawns. The sticky rice was a very small portion served in a plastic bag.We were hoping for great things from the restaurant but wont be returning any time soon.

While staying in the nearby Chippenham Travelodge, we made our way through the back lanes to Chippenham and found this lovely restaurant. We arrived at 9pm on a Saturday evening, so had to wait about 5 minutes for a table to become available. The service and food (Pad Thai and duck spring rolls) were excellent, the atmosphere quiet and relaxing. I would certainly return here if I lived locally but as we were on a trip to Bath from London, it is unlikely.Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely Thai restaurant by the Rose & Crown pub, the food was lovely, we had a fixed menu for £20 each, 4 starters, 2 mains, vegetables and rice all tasty and well presented. The staff were very friendly and there is a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Really enjoyable we will definitely be eating there again.

Tasty food in attractive surroundings. Slow service. Never felt rushed, but would have liked more attention - gave up waiting for a jug of water and went to get it myself from the bar. I can understand poor service when places were busy - but there were empty tables, so no excuse. However, still one of the best restaurants in Chippenham town.

We regularly eat here, probably once a month minimum. Good is always good, staff are friendly and polite. The only downside I can think of is if they are busy you need to wait a little longer, however the wait is usually only and extra 10 or 15 minutes over the whole meal. Thai food isn't cheap but the prices are good for Thai cuisine. Have taken visitors from out if town and overseas here and will continue to do so in the future.

We've been here about 4 times now and never been disappointed. The food is amazing the staff are great, only very small dislike is the layout of the tables, no privacy but the food makes up for that 10 times over. I will go back again and again!

We've tried all the Thai restaurants in Bath and pleased to say this one is as good as the best and better than most. Why? Excellent quality using fresh ingredients producing wonderful tastes and textures. Need to book to ensure table, as restaurant is smallish and extremely popular.

Our family of four visited on a Friday for the first time. We had asked to book for 8pm but were referred to 8.15, which wasn't a problem and actually given the closeness of the tables it was probably better because the place had emptied a little. It was a bit of a surprise to be asked to order by "number & meat" but we guessed that was done to avoid any misunderstandings. The food was nice but nothing special and it was the hottest Thai meal three of the four in the family had ever eaten. The decor in the restaurant looked a little tired; the table mats were sticky and as previously mentioned the tables were close together which could have been a problem if the place had been full. The staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful and we had a pleasant evening but for the price we paid I would expect a higher standard and therefore we won't be rushing back and having checked the ‘scores on the doors’ on our return home to find they were only awarded a one star rating, I was disappointed that more of an effort re the sticky mats etc. hadn’t been addressed. So as well as not rushing back I would find it difficult to recommend to others.

Two visits in last couple of weeks. Midweek starters mains and delicious puds for 4. Saturday starters and mains for 2. Midweek service was prompt. Good suggestions for meal. Saturday busy from 7:30. Waited 10-15 minutes for service as they were very busy. Excellent food again. I recommend main dish each and Pad Thai as an extra to share. Good range on menu to cater for all tastes and levels of spice and heat. A delight to eat at this establishment.

I got Sweet and Sour Beef as take away and paid £41 pounds for just rice and one dish. It was very poor quality with massive chunks of uncooked beef, tasteless and horrible (wasn’t like Thai Food at all) and very expensive. I had stopped buying take away from them before and will not but it from them again.

What a little gem this is! I travel to Frome from London frequently, but lately, my hubby has been picking me up at Westbury station and we pop in for a meal at the Thai Orchid, instead of savouring the delights of Frome restaurants! The food is tasty and authentically Thai and service friendly and efficient. Can't wait for my next trip to Westbury.
