Thai Sarocha in Wiltshire

The ice tea with milk was good. Food was quite tasty, only a bit pricy.

How it is that this establishment does not command a perfect five stars eludes me entirely. I found myself, for but an hour, utterly entranced by a parade of culinary delights. Every bite was a symphony of flavours, each more exquisite than the last, evoking sensations akin to a joyous dance upon my palate. From the enticing array of starters—the platter and the grilled squid standing out in particular—to the main courses and desserts, all were rendered with the hand of a true artisan. It is rare, indeed, to encounter a meal in which every dish sings with such brilliance, without a single note of mediocrity. Yet, here, I experienced just that—a testament to the profound mastery and passion behind the cuisine. I feel privileged to have partaken in this gastronomic triumph, and without hesitation, I shall return to once again savour this labour of love. My deepest thanks to the kitchen, whose artful creations will not soon be forgotten.

Had my birthday meal at Thai Sarocha tonight and the food was excellent, so tasty. They also kindly brought out a birthday dessert for me. Service was excellent too.

We both had Mushroom Tom Yum - the single tomato exploded in our mouths. Sensational flavours. Ordered Jasmine tea and Prawn Crackers which came with a lovely sweet chilli dip. Mains, Jungle Curry (for me) and Maasaman (for her) and a single steamed rice (enough for two). A VERY delicious and authentic Thai. We'd been before, years ago, but forgotten how good Thai Sarocha is, no problem highly recommending this lovely restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good value too. Our bill came to just over £55 and we really enjoyed our meal.

Couldn’t have asked for more. Atmospheric setting, wonderful food and faultless service. We enjoyed the sweet and sour seabass and Thai green curry with tofu dishes, washed down with a reasonably priced but excellent bottle of wine. Would definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed the massaman curry with king prawns. The starter of dim sum had pork inside that was very fatty and I couldn’t eat this. The coke I ordered was around £3 but poured in a small glass from an already open bottle. So overall I found the meal overpriced.

Really poor to be honest. In fact paid up after starter and duck and didn’t bother with main as quality, up until then, was decidedly poor. £3.95 for prawns crackers, runny peanut stay and really dry duck with inedible carrots and “off” spring onions. Went to giggling squid to finish our dinner and that was excellent. First time and last time at Sarocha. Poor.

Ordered Tom yum soup with king prawns, and chicken drunken noodles. Soup was a very small portion. Drunken noodles came with king prawns, not chicken, and just 5 prawns. Again a small portion. The dish is supposed to be hot with chili, and it wasnt. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he just walked off, I don't think he understands much English, or didn't really care.

Had a lovely time today, the food there was amazing, this was our first visit to this place, we haven’t been there before, myself, my mum and our friend were really looked after, it is a very nice cosy place and a really gem of a find. First visit, will definitely come back 🙂🙂🙂

Lovely Thai restaurant, great food. Recommended.

Our first time visiting and we will definitely be back! The food was delicious, staff were warm and welcoming and the surroundings were cosy and inviting. The restaurant was busy for a Wednesday night, which is always a good sign! Would definitely recommend, particularly as this is an independent business.

Grab a takeaway Thai on way home after long day. Ordered pad Thai, chilli prawns & crying tiger - it was all very nice & suspect it would have been nicer if we’d eaten it fresh and hot in restaurant. Staff were beautiful & welcoming. Would go back if in area but would eat in if in. Recommend!

The chicken satay was moist albeit the portion size was smaller than expected. The flavor was spot on for the pad see ew, but they used a skinny noodle and not the traditional larger, flat noodle. Thai red curry with tofu had some nice heat on it which we appropriately paired with the jasmine rise. Added a side of the pad broccoli which was tasty. Nice find in Salisbury while on our holiday. We forgot to keep images of the dishes, but the aftermath is clear that is was delicious.

A very nice dining place in the center of Salisbury. I went here with a friend and tried pad thai for the first time, it wasn't my favourite dish but that's just my personal taste. I really enjoyed my visit.

So we went here because of the proximity to the Salisbury cathedral and also the online reviews which placed it as the top rated restaurant on all of Salisbury! It was a four minute walk from cathedral doors so we went there after evensong. We were promptly seated. Staff were prompt and friendly. They helped us with the menu and made accommodations for a food allergy. Complementary water was served as well as what seemed like pork rinds which were fun to snack on while ordering. The ambience is slightly upscale. They have free bathrooms. Red curry was a favorite of ours and Mango sticky rice was yummy too. They took a while to bring the check but otherwise everything was great!

Had some delicious Thai food this evening from Thai Sarocha. We had the beef massaman and a beef panang and they were both lovely. Compliments to the chef, will be returning

What a wonderful find. Went on a Tuesday evening and there were already a few diners. Service was prompt and menu had a great selection. The food was excellent, well presented and very tasty. Will certainly go again on our next visit to Salisbury.

First time eating at the Thai restaurant, it's will decorated and welcoming. The staff are very friendly. Reason for 3 star is purely value for money. For what you get the prices seemed very high, I had gai yang (grilled chicken) £14 and it was just a grilled chicken breast on couple pieces of salad, rice was extra, wife has streamed fish £18 was expecting a whole fish as normal with this but only had 2 small fillets again on few bits of salad. With drinks and ice cream total almost £110, that's why 3 star.

I visited this establishment for a rather late dinner. Fortunately, it operates until late hours, and there were not many customers, so we were seated without any issues. The ambiance of the place was characterized by simplicity and elegance. The staff members were exceptionally courteous and pleasant. Regarding the cuisine, it appeared to be predominantly tailored to British patrons, as is the case with most restaurants in the United Kingdom. As a result, it lacked a certain depth of flavor. Overall, the experience was satisfactory. However, the pricing of the food items was slightly higher than the average. This establishment is suitable for individuals seeking a tranquil environment for relaxation and unwinding, and its extended operating hours are an added advantage. I may consider returning in the future.

Really good food. Prices don’t match website but that’s OK Drunken Noodles were advertised as 2 chili peppers for hotness, but they were not spicy at all Service was good, atmosphere was good. Can get dicey trying to use the restroom as the tables are packed together making it difficult to get through. Food portions, especially for the pre7:00 set menu time, were excellent

Contrary to other reviews we found that the service was good. The waitress was very welcoming and attentive during the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was not as rich and ornate as some but pleasant, The food unfortunately did not live up to the service and was quite poor. Maybe we got the back up chef I don’t know but overall it was not at all enjoyable. We started with Thai crackers which were fine although the dip in sauce was over sweet. Most places buy these items in so perhaps they can find better. For starters we had the steamed dumplings and the Tom yum soup with mushroom. Given the uniform shape and balanced but muted flavours I am guessing the dumplings are bought in frozen and prepared as required ; they were ok but nothing special The Tom yum soup was a disaster. Normally at the bottom of the bowl there is a small mass of vegetation being finely sliced lemon grass and galangal, shredded lime leaf , root corriander and the like. These fresh herbs are there to lift the broth with high notes of flavour. They were not present and hence the broth was dull , flat and boring with a excess of lime juice.The broth is supposed to be watery but the herbs turn it into a refreshing spicy medium for the veg , seafood or meat. Without the herbs it is just a watery slightly spiced fluid. There were four simple white button mushrooms not even chestnut let alone any asian variety. They appeared to be put in right at the end and were raw. The main course was not much better. We had a chicken stir fry with ginger and spring onion and a chicken jungle curry. Both were poor. Both lacked any real flavour and the stir fry was very wet with a bland tomato based sauce. The jungle curry had the same issue and was not at all spicy. The veg were either over cooked or from frozen. What I assume was courgette was a mushy paste and a aubergine slice was well on its way to being so. The cauliflower was soft and bland. The chicken clearly was not cooked in the sauces as it had absorbed none of what flavour there was and look like pre cooked meat thrown in at the end. Only the thought of finding another restaurant by wandering the streets in the very heavy rain stopped us sending it all back and walking out. We did not even asked for a replacement meal as we had no confidence anything better would turn up. So rather than making a scene we smiled and got on with it in the British manner! We decided to have a dessert but stayed well away from the in-house ‘Thai specials’ and stuck with ice cream and sorbet. Both were in fact excellent. The ice cream was rich and flavoursome and the blackcurrant sorbet very tangy and not over sweet. Obviously bought in but of great quality. All in all a very disappointing meal at a cost over £75. We declined to leave a tip on the card but did give the waitress a fiver as she provided an excellent service. We have given the review two stars , one for the service and one for the excellent dessert.

The previous reviewer was unfortunate to dine when the main chef was on holiday. The regular chef was back in time for us and as good as ever. The food is fresh, tasty , and delicious. Everything is so well cooked and the tastes make one want to try more and more. So often Thai food can feel bland but this is the opposite- exciting and as tasty as in Thailand, the real thing. So delicious and nicely served by a very friendly staff.

Absolutely stunning, authentic Thai restaurant. The food is incredibly good, the staff are attentive and friendly. I can't recommend Thai Sarocha too hightly, in fact we are planning a return trip to Salisbury simply to be able to eat there again. It really is marvellous.

We’ve been several times before but tonight was bad. Apparently they have changed chef. I had the Tom Yum soup which was like the product of washing out the wok. Bland, lacking substance and probably the worst I’ve had. 2 mushrooms, 3 bits of chicken and no herbs or veg. I’ve had a few in my time and I sent it back because I couldn’t eat it. Then main course. I had grilled chicken with basil etc. it tasted like chicken instead of Thai chicken. Really bland. Only ate it because I was hungry rather than going out for a nice meal. Another in my party had the veg option which was bland and lacking. My wife had the sea bass which was nice but the skin was like leather. They took 2 dishes off the bill, but that isn’t really the point. I went out to have a nice family meal when we don’t get together often. But the food took the edge off it. Overall, a really poor meal. Feels like they don’t care which is such a shame.

Used the takeaway service for my Birthday supper having chosen this restaurant because it says " ...... the only Thai in Salisbury to offer home delivery ....." but this is NOT true so I had to get my guests to collect supper!! So ... although the food was lovely (if not overly hot) and ready for collection at the specified time this was NOT what I'd planned for my "relaxed" family supper. I'd politely suggest you update your website or actually offer delivery!

Loved the food. Starter of Chicken Satay. Main: Roasted Duck Curry, and desert: Coconut half. Delicious. Thank you. Also we weren't rushed by the waiter. A very enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere.

The food at Thai Sarocha has been consistently excellent for years, but unfortunately the manager has become increasingly rude to customers over the last year or so. Whilst this has usually been offset by the quality of the food, she was so rude to our faces yesterday that we left without even sitting down. It's very doubtful we'll go back, despite having been loyal and regular customers for a very long time.

Had a lovely meal here, service was good, food came quickly and was extremely tasty, good portion sizes. Would highly recommend.

Always good food and has been reliable for years, and we've been regular and loyal customers. However, the manager has always been mildly rude at best, although the food is usually worth it, despite her attitude. Today, however, she was so extremely rude, we walked out before even sitting down. It's doubtful we'll ever go back. 5* for years, now 1*. Avoid until she leaves, unfortunately

Staff almost hushed us out the door as they wanted to close shop on Saterday at 14:30. The food portions were small for the price. Had to ask for service for drinks, took 15 min for a drink to arrive in a very empty establishment.

Such a disappointing experience this evening at this restaurant, we had such high expectations. Ordered salt and pepper squid which was really rubbery and inedible. When I pointed it out and sent it back I didn’t even get a sorry. Although I was asked if we wanted to change it we said just go straight to main meal. Food was bought up in a rather sulky manner and we were never asked if everything was ok. One meal was ok but the other one had very dry, over cooked chicken. They had the cheek to add on service charge and still charged us for the inedible squid. Would avoid in future mainly due to the lack of customer service and care. A smile would have been nice.

Terrible service, we waiting so long that we had to ask to be order food, the waiters seemed very unhappy with us there. Did not even check if we have everything. Also misleading pictures in terms of portion sizes!! My king prawn drunken noodles had only 4 prawns, can justify the price of almost £14...

Food was tasty but wouldn't have ordered off the early evening menu if we'd known the portions were much smaller than normal. We got serious food envy when we saw the normal portion sizes. Had 4 small bits of tofu in my veggie main. Also my partner is vegan and he was served something with egg in. We asked for a replacement but I'd finished mine before a his arrived. Bit disappointing as it was an anniversary celebration and we both sort of pretended to each other that it was ok but agreed that it would be a good to pick up more food on the way home haha.

I visit here occasionally but his week I took my daughter here for the first time to celebrate her birthday last month. We both chose the lunchtime set menu a) because it’s very good value and b) because there were plenty of choices to choose from. It’s got busier as we progressed through the meal which was nice as it gave it some atmosphere. We were served by a very happy, smiling young man which made all the difference from before (owner do take note). Sitting in the front window gave us a wonderful view into city life. Would we go again, oh definitely…

Nice atmosphere (very nice decorations for sure), and very good food (though pricey for certain plates). However do NOT attempt to go with babies, toddlers or small children. The staff was not friendly towards us as a family at all. Also there is no children’s menu and they only have one high chair for the whole place. It’s such a shame because the space and the food would definitely suit a family-type place (there are step free areas of the restaurant and some good space to leave a pram when needed). Without a children’s menu we ended up spending so much more than what we budgeted to get a steamed fish option that would be suitable to our toddler - but of course the portion was huge for her. It really feels like they don’t really want families in there. From the moment we set foot in the restaurant we were treated with such indifference - it was visible that the staff did not care about us or the children at all and all they wanted was to get us out asap. Too bad. We won’t be back. Also they made us pay for the containers we needed to use to not waste our toddler’s food.

This was a night out with a mate. We normally go for a curry but the options in Salisbury are a bit limited and the prices are not favourable. The meal here was brilliant. Nice fresh food. Really flavoursome. Great value.

The food , curried duck and pad Thai, were flavored nicely, typical of delicious Thai food. I like more heat than the pad Thai contained, so I requested chili sauce to spice it up, apparently an unusual customer request. The service was excellent. The summer Shandy beer was deliciously sweet, unlike any other I have had. Good experience of flavorful food in an otherwise gastronomically bland part of the world.

Booked here for a group of 14 people for work. Despite the number of people, everything was well organised, the food came out quickly and was perfectly cooked and was hot. A great place to visit with something for everyone - not everything is spicy!

This is a difficult review as the food was 9/10 and was tasty and hot and served quickly although the restaurant was beginning to get busy, but we did have an initial issue. We pre-booked by telephone ( why no email/Internet booking facility by the way?) and arrived on time. The young lady didn't take our name but did ask if we had booked and the asked where we would like to sit. We took 2 seats in the adjoining area to the bar and waited 5 minutes for our drinks to be requested and food menu's provided. At this point another couple came and sat next to us and within 2 minutes had ordered drinks and been provided with menu's but we had still been ignored, Eventually I managed to attract the attention of a young male waiter and asked for the drinks order to be taken and food menu's provided which they were by the surly young lady who had shown us in originally and they were more or less thrown at us. No apology was forthcoming, although ultimately we were served very nicely and efficiently by another lady who we assumed to be the proprietor. I am unsure how we were forgotten and I know that these things can happen but I think that some acknowledgement and apology should have been given? In short, food 9/10, value 9/10, service 10/10 if you don't get the young lady and 0/10 if you do AND don't get an apology.

The food was decent but the hostess was stunningly rude. Rudely snapped at us when we asked questions about the menu and rushed us through the meal. Really left thinking we should have walked out earlier. Best avoided.

Having seen previous reviews I can understand the different opinions. The food was nice but the service let the experience down. When we arrived, we was only offered the main menu and was not offered the set menus ( We did not go on a busy night and the set menus are on the website). Once I asked for the set menu, our waitress rolled her eyes and got them for us. I understand that it is tough times for restaurants in the present climate, but the set menu is good value and I would have thought that any restaurant would encourage more people in via their set menus? As I have previously said the food was nice and I hope the staff take my opinions on board as a way of helping them increase their clients

Delicious food and brilliant service, we had a fantastic time! The Thai Green Curry was spot on even though the spiciness initially took me aback! Next time we're in Salisbury we'll definitely return, thanks!

A gem of a place. Three of us went on a Saturday night and despite only a few staff around, we were catered for promptly and efficiently. Fantastic, authentic food (dim sum a must for starters) and a really pleasant ambience.

Ours was a last minute booking and we were so glad that they could accommodate us. THe atmosphere was exactly as one would expect in a family run business. Excellent menu, delicious food and good service.

Not a traditional taste of Thailand, the meats of the fried dishes were soso, a bit over-cooked and without seasoning

Dodgy restaurant, the waiter/boss immediately asked the customers whether you would like rice cracker without telling you the price then they charge you 3.98 pounds in the bill. After criticizing his behavior being not honest about the price, he made the excuse that we have eaten them. We ate it under he voluntarily offered, and the rice cracker is usually free of charge in so many other Tai restaurants. It is not about money, but a behavior of cheating. Really dodgy place. Plus the Pai Tai and Yellow curry are both under the average, really disappointed for the most Tai food. Super salty soup is unbearable. Plus the cheating behavior of the rice cracker, never recommend and do never go there again!!!

Walked past on our way to visit the cathedral, on the way back we had a lovely well cooked and served lunch. The starters were better than the main course, if we were going again we will just have loads of starters.
