Thai Marina in Eastbourne

Disappointed to spend the whole meal fending off annoying flies (think they were fruit flies). Food was lovely as usual (we have eaten here often) but the flies were so annoying. As it’s October you wouldn’t expect them so presume someone is doing something wrong in the kitchen.

Amazing food, amazing service as always. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a good local restaurant in a great location. Service is always brilliant and the food is so good! And they let you take what you don't eat home in a takeaway

Beautifully decorated premises with wooden carvings and Orchids. Friendly helpful staff in traditional attire. Delicious meals well presented with the most amazing coconut ice cream. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

This was the first visit today me and my friend had a lovely time the waiter was great whole restaurant was very clean 👌 the only downfall for me was the rice unfortunately I'm a great rice lover and I love freshly cooked rice sadly thie rice was not freshly cooked I'm pretty sure it was microwaved rice. However I will return again soon maybe it was a hiccup fingers crossed

We have been frequently using this restaurant for several decades and have recently found that it had gone down hill. The food used to be consistently good for many years, however over the past few months it has deteriorated to the point where it has now become poor. Some of the staff, (one lady in particular), are surly and rude. On this occasion we left before we had even managed to order drinks. We hope they read this review and learn from it.

We enjoyed a relaxing 2 course lunch in the sunshine of Sovereign Harbour today, with great, fresh and tasty food as well as a friendly service. We very much recommend the Marina Turkish Restaurant & out doors on a sunny day. Will will go back in the future to experience more of the of the menu.

Very nice restaurant, good food and staff, but let down when asking for the bill in that once arrived the waitress wanted for me to pay straight away without me pondering over the bill.

We went as a couple to celebrate my partners birthday. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and seated near the window.I had a Calamari Starter and my partner had the Halloumi and we both enjoyed them. My partner is from London originally so she’s more used to Turkish food than I but I loved it. The main course I had was Prawn stew and she had Moussaka. We finished off with Turkish Coffee. We will return as the staff are friendly and the food delicious 😋

Lovely meal sitting outside of this resturant. Very busy so quite noisy needed to ask for parts of our order more than once but happy with overall service which was prompt and friendly

We chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday, and it was an excellent decision. The food was truly delicious. I had the Beyti, and it was amazing. The service was warm and top-notch. For dessert, I tried the baklava, and I highly recommend it to everyone. Both the service and the food quality were exceptional. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone

Great food and service - we hadn’t booked and were advised on the phone no table was available - however 10 mins later they called backed and because of a cancellation were able to accommodate - how proactive and we were able to go - super food and service

Restaurant was very busy but that did not impact on service. Food was delicious and service was great.

Service was exceptional. Food was out of this world. Great selection of dishes and drinks. Value-wise - I would say £50-ish a head so not too bad, but not cheap! No background tunes or anything. Tables quite close together. But on the whole - a wonderful experience and would definitely go back!!

So disappointed with our experience here Firstly the restaurant needs a good clean splashed food stains on the wood panelling and dust,very unhygienic Secondly the staff are so surly no smiles Thirdly the food was only just average at best we had a sharing platter which was the best part of the meal Noodle and curry’s very overpriced. We paid £13.50 for a noodle dish when I had only asked for a noodle to go with my green curry At that point I was done with this restaurant and will not return

I cannot understand the low ratings given by some reviews. We have been coming here for years, the latest was 2 weeks ago with some old friends from elsewhere in the UK. We had a great time! As always, the service was prompt and attentive and all dishes were excellent. One friend had green curry and I had lamb mussaman. Both were really delicious and I have no idea why they have been slated on here. With starters, lagers and a tip (which was not even asked for) it came to about £30 a head. Very reasonable I thought. Our friends were a little let down by their hotel and the town centre, but our visit to the Thai Marina changed their minds about Eastbourne and now they want to return!

We are regular diners at Thai Marina and the standard of food is consistently good.

It was a very busy Saturday night when we ate here. Food was superb from start to finish. Chicken wings, spicy Turkish sausage, and lamb chops (x2). The wine was much better than I was expecting, too. If we didn't live 50 miles away, we would be back...

Always enjoyed the food. They have a very rude man waiter working there. We were slightly early and was told to stand over by the toilets until our table was ready. He told my friend your in the way and the next time he pushed him. We told the waitress who said he was always getting complaints about his behaviour. Not what I want to hear.

Food us always good. Visited at lunchtime for set menu. Unfortunately everytime we visit they have again increased the price. Hopefully this will now stop as soon will not be good value.

Thai Marina is my favourite restaurant and I’ve been coming here for well over twenty years. The food, service and atmosphere is always second to none and nothing is ever too much trouble. I’ve noticed a couple of negative reviews on TripAdvisor bemoaning the price and the service which baffle me. The prices are available on the website and in the window so I don’t know why it came as a shock to those particular reviewers, plus the set lunch menu has always been exceptional value. As for the poor service reviews I can only surmise there was more to it than the reviewer committed to paper.

We went here yesterday for a meal with my daughter and one year old granddaughter, The food was amazing and really authentic with some things on the menu that I have only found in Turkey. The staff were fabulous and especially Taz (one of the owners) who went above and beyond with going out to the local shop to get mayonnaise for my daughter, really appreciated it as they were really busy, customer service outstanding. Think this is our new favourite will definitely be going back to try some of the other appetising items on the menu.

Went to eat here last night. We live in the Harbour but not been down there to eat for ages. This restaurant is a fab new addition! Food...staff and atmosphere are top notch and I'm fussy! Their homemade Baklava is heavenly! Lots of outside tables too and all in all a gorgeous evening there! THANK YOU!

Great little restaurant with view over the harbour. Food was nice and authentic. I'd recommend the mixed hot meze. We visited on a Saturday evening and it was getting quite busy. I must commend the waitress who has a great tableside manner and holds the place together, it would fall apart without her.

We have been eating at Thai Marina whenever we are on holiday at Pevensey Bay for more than 20 years. They are usually very busy so good idea to book. The food is fresh and beautifully cooked and presented. The staff are very efficient and keep this running smoothly.

Update July 24. Another fantastic meal here, again exceptional service from The Manager, and Saad our waiter. The other staff are very friendly too. This time I had the seabass and it was so tasty, absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. This place is amazing. Update June 2024. Visited here again, New Manager, very welcoming and attentive, nothing too much trouble, all the staff are friendly and the food is amazing. The Baklava is exceptional, all food is cooked fresh to order, the chef is outstanding. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. First visit October 2023. The two front of house waiters, Blake and Saad are a credit to this lovely restaurant. They were immediately welcoming and both had a great sense of humour, which made our evening. The food was really tasty and the portion sizes were ample. If you like a nice atmosphere, good food and friendly staff, this is the place for you.

Six of us had dinner here recently. Fabulous restaurant, high quality fixtures and fittings. We all shared our starters and mains. Incredible food and incredible service. Great location and lovely food but lt felt rushed with the service and even the paying of our bill at the end. Felt a bit like we were just another cover and little engagement.

Food quality was very good. Service was a bit sullen and language is clearly a problem. Wine was very expensive and I'm not sure there was any dry white wine available by the glass. I tried two and they were both sweet.

Too expensive! The duck roll starter was just about ok, but after, I had lamb massamam and sticky rice it was awful, tasteless and oily, the rice was a hard tasteless lump! I wish I had complained straight away as it didnt look appetising but I ate some lamb and potato, left the rest and they only took £4 off the bill. So disappointing feel like I don't want to go again.

We stumbled on here for my birthday lunch. There were 5 of us my husband my mum my cousin and our son. it was gorgeous!! the food was amazing and the atmosphere and service was second to none. Then they brought out a lil birthday cake and sang!! such a great atmosphere and the venue was very stylish and extremely clean. well worth a visit xxxxxxxx

Nothing special there. Food over charged. We ordered some seafood curry but came out vegetables more than seafood. Staff aren’t that nice. First rushing us to ordering food. Second gave us bill which we didn’t ask for and not ready. Last kicking us outside while we were waiting my takeaway I’m 8.5 months pregnant and it was cold and windy outside.

We had the 2 course set menu which was good value and the food was great.

We stumbled on Marina Turkish Restaurant after being told by some locals there were lots of lunch choices in the waterfront area. The restaurant has both outside as well as inside comfortable seating with nice Turkish music playing for added atmosphere. The lunch is offered as a two course lunch with lots of options for each course; I selected the halloumi and my partner went with hummus. The halloumi was nicely prepared and a good sized portion was provided. The hummus was also excellent in flavor and preparation. For our main course I selected lamb kofte guvec and my partner selected chicken shish. My dish had a very hearty portion of lamb with lots of fresh vegetables; the portion was more than I could finish. The chicken shish was prepared perfectly with good seasoning and also a substantial quanitity of everything on the plate. Honestly, the amount of food served for a lunch was too much for us and I doubt anyone will leave the table hungry. The staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming and we stayed much longer than intended having lovely conversation. The only part I am sad about is that we don't live in the area and will not be able to return regularly.

We visited Marina Turkish restaurant this afternoon for Fathers Day.. It's one of my step dad's favourite types of restaurants.. and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Good atmosphere and service, from friendly staff. Clean restaurant with seating both inside and outside, overlooking the harbour, great location!

Great food, attentive staff and a lovely calm and pleasant environment. We always enjoy visiting the Thai Marina and tend to go lunchtimes for the set menu as it is a very good deal. Starter, main and a choice of beverage that fills us up for the rest of the day.

Great food, good selection on the menu. Lovely environment, and friendly staff. Our friend was delayed by 10 minutes and a variety of staff came to the table to ask if we were ready to order. This may have made some customers feel rushed, however we were pleased that once she arrived we could order promptly. Excellent value for money. We will be back.

Failing restaurant- poor service - now mediocre food - could be excellent with proper staff & improved chef. Maybe they just don’t care as they are trying to sell it.

The food wasn’t as expected, it took the food to arrive about 1h even thought the restaurant was empty only two tables and the worse is they made mistake we ordered lamb and they brought chicken. The waiters don’t even know the dishes. Finally pricing the dish was advertised at £17 usually served with chicken or meat. But underneath they ask for £1 if is is with chicken or £3 if it is with lamb. Weird the dish comes only have tomato’s sauce and bread inside and by default it should come with meat. Not happy won’t go there again.

Excellent food in pleasant environment with good service. Hard to beat.

The gentleman who collected our plates was lovely & food was delicious. However, the waitress who showed us to our table was unbelievably rude. Never smiled, was unhelpful & when I asked to put the brolly up on our table outside for some shade, she gave me a death stare so long it became uncomfortable. We go back for the food but someone needs to remind her that it’s her job to provide good service for her tip, not be a sour puss.

Have visited and dined at this restaurant three times during the last two weeks. A great place to eat out, a great menu to choose from. The food is amazing,cooked fresh and to perfection. The friendly staff and ambience is second to none. Located on the waterfront with care free easy parking near by. Basically 10/10 all round. Simply the best!

Fantastic waterfront restaurant overlooking Sovereign Harbour, inside and outside dining. Great menu of freshly cooked food with very reasonable prices with midweek discount offers. Very clean and nicely decorated restaurant with comfortable seating. Easy free parking available.The staff are very friendly and the service is great. The quality of the food was excellent as was the service. We had the set menu which had a really good choice of foods. Really good location too.

Came last night for dinner, great atmosphere and great service very attentive we had spring rolls for starters very tasty and nice portion. The main meals are small potions for sharing if you want variety. The only down full is very expensive.

Great location, environment and food. It was lovely to see a full restaurant. Went with 2 friends who had not been before and they loved it. Will definitely be back to try other things on the diverse menu. There was a slight delay with one main meal being brought to the table. Staff were attentive but didn’t check in with us how our food was until the end and it wasn’t clear which member of the waiting staff was allocated to look after our table. But as I say I’ll definitely be back soon.

We ate excellently: everything was fresh, everything was wonderfully seasoned and varied. The only small disadvantage: it was a bit cool in the room and there was a draft. We would give 7 stars for the first-class service: very friendly, very prompt and always keeping an overview.

The food wasn’t too bad however the staff and service were appalling. It felt like they didn’t want us there and couldn’t be bothered to accommodate us. They had a rude attitude, we ordered a rum and coke and they gave us Bacardi and coke and acted completely as if it was our fault, they assumed we meant Bacardi without checking but didn’t offer to change it. They spilt a glass bottle of coke over two members of our party with very little apology or offer of correcting the mistake. They then tried to over charge the last paying member of our party by £40 barring in mind the entire bill was £700, this mistake had to be corrected by one of us. Food was ok but let down by the extremely poor attitudes and rudeness of the staff. We will not be returning.
