We thought we'd try something different for a quick dinner! The menu looked appealing and the food is cooked (or rather reheated) in front of you in a hot wok with lots of flames, which was an impressive show. I chose the "General Thai" which looked like stir fried battered chicken and vegetables on rice, on the menu. (Price was £10) The food itself though was not great, in fact it was awful. The 'battered' chicken was hard and overcooked, made worse by reheating in a wok. It would have been "ok" except for the charred taste, which at first I thought was just a smoky flavour, but actually became overwhelming and tasted like lighter fluid or some other inedible fuel you might ignite a barbecue with. The taste lingered afterwards for several hours, making me feel quite unwell. We have been put off and will not be returning to any of these fast food vendors in the food hall.

Food excellent, clean and quick served just in 3/4 minutes , price wise reasonable, everytime they’ve promoted the food. I tried all the items and my favourites are tum yum soup, PadThai,padsew and specially mix fried Rice . Awesome 👌. Must try .

I initially rated the restaurant a single star via uber eats because the order never arrived. Having been bounced around via uber eats support (once the food leaves it's uber's responsibility) and no chance of a refund I re-contacted the restaurant who without question agreed to redo my order at a moments notice, albeit the issue with the deliver was NOTHING to do with them. Manager (guildford branch) was absolutely superb and a real gentleman. Food was crazy tasty but service was just first rate, cannot fault his/their professional attitude when dealing with a disgruntled (not their fault) customer. Wish i could give more than 5 stars as just brilliant customer service.

I've lived in Guildford for over 20 years and been visiting the Friary for the same length of time. Bad service, food over cooked and lack of choose.

Ordered beef dish with rice ….. bucket full of rice with barely any beef or veg. First n last takeaway from this dreadful place

Normally order Thai fried rice or the Basil fried rice, medium heat but I get a delivery. Comes in a lovely box and is always packed full of food. Good portion and always arrives piping hot.

This is by far the best takeaway in Guildford, lovely friendly staff and excellent food, would recommend this place

Nowhere to sit - all seating blocked off. Not their fault but maybe with sit down food there should have been some fore-warning. What was their fault? 1. Leaving shells on the prawns 2.sneaking me a Pepsi max instead of a normal Pepsi (don't want aspartame thx) 3. overpriced drinks 4. Luke-warm service But... Food was tasty and well cooked and the selection is great.

Excellent Pad Thai with Prawns, great value, and very tasty. Nice and hot, and fast service, highly recommend.

I ordered vegetarian Spring rolls and a Vegetarian Thai Pad Sew. The spring rolls had a hair on them and the pad sew had beef in it. They are lucky it is not an allergy. I had it delivered so called them up and the staff did not seem to think it was serious. I was shocked.

Shopping in Guildford, and rarely going to the Friary Centre, I went for a look around. Just really fancied some tasty noodles, but nothing extravagant. That's what I got - Pad Thai Chicken Medium Hot - tasty noodles, at a great price and in fair comfort.

Great place to pick up a filling, cheap meal on the go. Fair amount of choice and quick service by both the cashier and the chefs. Servings are well-sized and delicious!

There was one male and one female working and both were ridiculously rude. No wander it’s always the only place with no cue. Never visiting again.

Eaten here before and will be eating here again! 2 mains, 2 drinks and a side for £18 - what more do you want? Everything is cooked fresh, is really tasty and good portions too. The service is friendly and welcoming and they will ask you what you like and help you choose the right dish. Its menu is matrix based but that makes it easy to choose so you get exactly what you like. It has an open kitchen so you watch as they cook and all served close to the seating in the food court. Yummy food and affordable too. They also serve these drinks called Sec which come in a number of flavours and are delicious, not too sweet and very reasonably priced too (see picture).

Precooked chicken was dry and not really cooked properly, smothered with some overpowering slimy sauce. This did not taste or look like Thai food at all. I threw my food away after one exploratory bite! Not recommended.

I almost always enjoy the food here, service is good and quick, however as food is made from scratch by different people, the sauce can vary from watery to extremely flavoursome. Other than that, I highly recommend.

Compared to mcDs or KFC in the Guildford mall food hall this is fab. Cooked in front of you within ten minutes.i had pad Thai and wife red Thai curry. Not cheap but nothing is these days. Well worth a visit

TERRIBlE!!! Do not be fooled by the adverts. What I ordered was absolutely nothing like the pictures they advertise. When I asked for a refund the manager point blank refused and was very unhelpful.

Decided to try this for a quick, cheap lunch. Although it was peak lunchtime service was quick. Food was hot and tasty and we enjoyed it. Premises is on the top floor of The Friary Shopping Centre & can be accessed by lift. Seating is in a communal seating area shared by all the food outlets present. As a result you may find it hard to find a seat at peak times.

I always come here if I want a quick lunch, there is normally about a 5 minute wait while its cooked from fresh. The food is excellent, I normally have chicken fried rice with basil. It is always delicious and you get a good portion!

Thai Express in Guildford, I ordered the combo rice with beef and only regular roll because the run out of the other options. Beef were in the shape of pellets?, looked like pet's food, the assured me it was beef but for sure it didn't look like the photo in the menu. This was my first time and last in these restaurants. Please avoid, looks like they replace ingredients without telling the customer.

Mi primera vez comiendo aquí y me sorprendió gratamente cómo la comida rápida también fue preparado y realmente agradable. Gran lugar para comer por la opción de almorzar después de un día de compras. Los tamaños de las porciones también son enormes! También me encantó la opción de elegir cómo picante me gustaría mi comida y la opción de lo que podría haber en ello e tofu, pollo, etc.

The benefit of the food court is that everyone can get their favourite food and I chose Thai. There was no option of card or contactless and in general it felt tired versus the other food options in the food court.

Buena comida y una respuesta rápida. Situado en el centro de patio de comidas Convento guildford este ha sido un favorito de tiempo ahora. Me encanta su carne arroz frito y también la carne salteados. No esperes ningún lujo en abundancia. Este es un lugar económico que sirve buena comida.

Chocante.. mal servicio de gas cuando finalmente fuimos ordenados, así que conseguimos una restitución ponen comida de vuelta tottally chocante nunca volveremos.

I had the misfortune to see and become involved in a disgusting act at the Thai Express in Guildford earlier this afternoon – probably around 13.20.

We ate at this restaurant lookong forward to Thai style food and thinking it was a Thai restaurant, as it's called Thai Express, it's actually a Chinese restaurant serving No Thai food at all.If that's not bad enough the Chinese food? Is not cooked in house but simply slid out of vacuum bags and microwaved, believe me, the food is completely tasteless and appaling and a complete waste of money. Should not be supported

Nice healthy and very tasty Thai food. The chicken noodle soup is a bit bland bit no problem with the other dishes.

A small group of us attend here today for the first time and wow what a great place to eat. We loved the fact we watched our food being cooked. It was super quick so great for our lunch break. The only thing that let the place down was the unhappy staff. A smile to your customers costs you nothing.

Desperation drove me to the food court and was glad to have something besides a burger. Pad Thai was edible and filling, which is all you really should ask of a mall eatery.

This is my son and I's place of choice to get a quick cheap lunch when shopping in Guildford. The choice is good and the menu system makes it easy to decide exactly what to have. We normally go for one of the noodle options; all the food is prepared in front of you at the counter so it's fresh and hot. Tasty and the medium option has just the right amount of spice for us - a bit of warmth but not too hot!

All carrot and lettuce and not a lot else and very little prawn. I had this instead of McD's to be healthy but honestly only ended up with lettuce and carrot. Only upside was they stocked Pepsi Maxx.

I really liked the concept of this fast food Thai restaurant. The menses are simplified and amazingly there are mainly two people who are prepping and cooking the food. It's all cooked I front of you but the "protein" is pre cooked and left to warm up in advance as the orders come through. The food itself is very tasty and there are signs stating that the food is halal (both chicken and beef). Well worth a second visit, if you are in the dreary friary againF

The food is freshly prepared right in front of you. It is incredibly tasty and the staff work really hard. It is well worth a visit. Exceptional value for money as they give you a lot of food and there are loads of choices.

I don't know about others but I love this restaurant. The food is prepared super fast and I just love the noodles (not a fan of rice-I cook it at home and prefer noodles when I eat out). Delicious and can be done it many types of "spicy" which is perfect! Highly recommended if you like noodles :)

We arrived there at half eleven in the morning, so it hadn't been open long. They had no rice. When I asked for for rice noodles in replacement they said they could only do it on salad! £5.65 for some stir-fried veg in what seems to be watery soy sauce with some chilli sauce on a bed of lettuce (not even a salad) was pretty foul and a rip off. The staff were uninterested, didn't speak clearly and just looked like they didn't care at all, bordering on rude when speaking to us. We got our money back from a woman who was nice, but we won't be back in afraid.

Found this in the Friary shopping centre. We wanted a speedy, tasty lunch and that's what we got! Helpful young man serving and the food was freshly prepared and we could watch. I chose Pad Thai veg style, which was really good, I added extra crushed peanuts on top and my daughter chose a rice veggie dish with cashews, we both enjoyed very much and washed it down with a pepsi all for £14.90! ( They do serve the food to your taste, so you can ask for mild,medium or hot.)

The Thai Express outlet in the Friary shopping centre was a find. Upon reaching the food court, I headed straight away to this restaurant and tried the Tom Yum Soup with Tofu. All the food was cooked to order and you could see them making it. Everything is fresh and highly recommend the tom yum soup. You get a massive bowl full at a very very reasonable price. The food was tasty, spicy without paying restaurant prices. Please note that my experience is based on the quality of the tom yum soup. I really do recommend it!

Another great example of how easy it is to cater for those of us with a gluten intolerance; all of the dishes could be made gluten-free, and how do I know, because there were nice big clear signs telling me. It really was a Coeliac's delight.The food itself was cooked fresh in front of you, was appropriately priced for a food court, was plentiful and above all, great tasting!

We had a nice lunch here, it was £20 for 4 of us. 3 Pad Thai and one green curry. Would be much more expensive in a restaurant. It's cooked to order, very fresh and you watch them cook it. Much better than eating Mc D's. It does take a long time to wait as they are cooking it all fresh, not a bad thing.

When you order a meal here, they are all freshly prepared and cooked in front of you. The staff are friendly and the food is good value for money, especially considering the generous portion sizes.I will happily return when i need a quick lunch!

Not quite street food in Bangkok, but then again it was Guildford. Family quick bite as the food looked healthier than the big M next door. Quick service, tasty Tofu dish that was fine. Yer not bad. An average rating because of price. £3.50 would have been a bargain. £4.50 I could just about accept. But £5.50 was too steep and would be the reason I would not return. Similar in Thailand would have been circa £0.50.....

I had the beef fried rice and must say it was the most awful thing I have ever eaten. The beef looked like it had been chewed by a dog and tasted like a chewy bit of tuppaware. I really wish I could turn back time and never go near this place again

Everytime I visit, I see dedicated team at getting your food cooked efficiency. Amazing tastes every time I've been going here.

I have previously had the small chicken salad and today opted for the large chicken salad for £2 more. The difference is just more lettuce in total I received less than 20grams of chicken and no more rice noodles. I offered to pay for more chicken but the worker simply said I already put chicken. The food however is nice , just poor service and misleading sizing.

Been here a few times, order always comes very quick, service is great and food is delicious. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

I have been visiting the Thai Express in Guildford for lunch, on a regular basis, ever since the Friary Food Court was refurbished and have always appreciated the quality, price, variety and pleasant service. Fast healthy food for those on a working lunch break and plenty of options, all very reasonably priced. I find the range and quality of the food superior to either of the two other fast food oriental restaurants in the Court and have enjoyed many pleasant conversations with the lady Manageress who is keen to share her enthusiasm for her restaurant and open to constructive advice from the public, upon the menu and service. They are open late on Thursdays. This restaurant chain is expanding and going places. it is an infinitely preferable healthy alternative to the burger bar close by, please give it try, you won't regret it.

Been there so many times with families and friends. Really good recommend it to everyone. Staff was great. It also got 5 star hygiene rate. It is also halal which is great for me and families.

Thai-express is somewhere I can rely on to provide fresh, good value for money, realy Thai food on the go! Their service is also fantastic, waiters are happy to discussion the flavours with you to better understand your options which is always a nice additional surprise!Really wish it was closer to me so I could go regularly or order takeaway!

Found this place one Saturday lunch time when we were looking for a change from the usual sandwich options. The menu had a good selection of dishes that you can have cooked as mild or spicy as you like. Everything was prepared to order and cooked in front of you so the food was lovely and fresh. A great little place for a quick bite when our shopping, will definitely be back.

This is a great little place to grab a great meal in a hurry. They list a selection of meals that can all be ordered with beef, chicken, fish, prawns, vegetables or tofu (meaning my vegie friend can have 2/3 of the menu!). You order what you want and select how spicy you want it then someone cooks it for you there and then from a selection of fresh ingredients layed out for all to see. You know exactly what you're getting, you watch it being cooked and then get to eat a great tasting dish made especially for you. Bad points? Only that everything is served on paper plates with plastic cutlery but you can't have everything and this is reflected in the sensible prices.Definitely recommended for those who like good fresh food, well prepared.
