Been away from Thailand for a week but wish to taste Thai food in the UK before leaving the country. NOT disappointed at all. I’ve tried 5 authentic Thai dishes and found out the real Thai spicy herb and taste here in this Thai restaurant. The very first impression is Thai greeting way “Wai” from the staff. The recommendation was great. All the dishes were original Thai tastes and feel like home. You all will love and a MUST try if you are in Guildford, UK.

Have not been to this restaurant for many years and based on our experience last night will not be going again for many more years. Unhelpful service. This restaurant is an apology for real Thai food.

Classy Thai restaurant at the top of the town. Delightful staff. With linen napkins it would 5 stars all round. You may be lucky and get onstreet parking right outside or nearby by Harbour Hotel. Also 2 carparks within an easy walk: GLive and Upper Street.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. It's a beautiful restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were impeccable with their service. Food was quick to come out and absolutely stunning. The lady who took our order was so sweet! (She said she was new). I felt so accommodated. I've never seen such a beautiful bathroom, extraordinarily clean! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to explore quality Thai food and have excellent service that makes you feel classy! All the staff wished me and my girlfriend well on our way out. We left smiling and glad we chose to go there. (Visited Saturday 20th 7pm).

Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere make this place a must-visit for a wonderful dining experience with family and friends. I'm so impressed with the authentic Thai cuisine - it's been a long time since I've had such a great meal! Left feeling full and happy, can't wait to come back!

I always pre-book Rumwong for dinner when in Guilford. You can be assured of a great meal here. The service is spot on and the dishes are always a delight. Seating is a little tight to the front of restaurant, but this does not detract greatly from a wonderful experience.

I’m a big fan of this place and a very regular customer. However my Pad Thai portion was soooo stingey it barely took up half the takeaway container. More like a starter portion. Quite frankly I’m a bit cheesed off. And still hungry. For £14.50 the container should be full. Just felt like a bit of a rip off.

Lovely place for an evening out. Friendly and efficient service and very good food (tasty and not too greasy). Strongly recommended, we'll be back!

Great Thai food, some really nice dishes in the menu

First time visiting this lovely restaurant. Very warm welcome when we arrived, staff so attentive and dressed in great traditional dress. Food was great value for money and will definitely return. Am glad I ignored the "not so great" reviews. Try it you will not be disappointed !

Pricey but good. The set menu value is questionably a lot for a little in comparison but then it is Guildford.

Refurbished overrated and overpriced famous small portions

We have eaten here for years and have loved it. However our recent visit was a huge disappointment. The service was awkward and drinks orders arrived wrong. The starters were still excellent. The mains were poor, a tiny amount of chicken in a curry dish. The pork dish had a really strange texture to the meat. It was left uneaten. The bill at the end was eye watering. A real shame considering our previous experiences over many years.

Mediocre food, very overpriced, rude staff. Avoid.

It's 30 years since we last frequented this restaurant and it remains an excellent experience. The same family runs it and the dedication shows. Highly recommended.

I came to eat Thai food here for the second time. For Thai people, the restaurant has a 10% discount. I was happy to eat Thai food. Both service and food The staff here are lovely and have beautiful Thai manners. In Thai culture, people are humble. I am deeply impressed.

Great food lovely staff, easy going and the lychee cooler is a must great for younger ones as well definitely a must.

Despite the poor recent reviews our visit and food was very good. The service is excellent and the food authentic, and well presented. We particularly liked the birthday fuss they made of my wife. The bill was as expected and we left fully satisfied. This was our second visit in the last 10 years and it was just like the previous one.

I found it quite overpriced compared to other Thai Restaurants I've been to. The Thai Iced Tea was mostly ice and not so much tea -- and cost £7.50.

The interior was so nice and comfortable that I had high expectations for the food, but I was a little disappointed because it was too sweet and localized...Overall, the food was sweet.

I have been going go RumWong since 2004, when I was a student. I live about 10 miles away, so not so far to visit (worth the drive). This place is still my number one Thai Place. The food is still authentic, fresh and flavoursome. A classic Pud Thai is always my fave and Dim Sum. Cocktails are FAB btw. It has come a long way since it's small, like Thai restaurant shack to a beautifully adorned Thai setting with silk/gold drapes as decor. Top tip..try their desserts.. (Coco Mango was beaut) they have gone up a level, which is a nice bonus!

Eat in or out the food and service is always good.

Disappointed today as my vegetarian friend ended up taking a bite of pork spring rolls when we had asked for vegetarian spring rolls and I do not eat pork as part of my religion they just discounted the spring rolls price : to be clear we come here often and have always enjoyed the food

A few years ago, we ate here and promised ourselves we would not return. However, our friends booked it, so we thought we would give it another go. Sadly, it has not improved. In fact, I would say it has worsened as it is now very over priced for an unexceptional meal. I know there needs to be a mark up for alcohol, but a good muscadet sur lie can be bought in a supermarket for 11 Euros - Rumwong are charging £45. The food has lost that beautiful fresh Thai taste and the staff were business like and impersonal. I shall not return.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere.

We used to visit Rumwong years ago (when it was good) but noticed a general decline in the quality of food and an increase in the cost so stopped going. Tried again last night with some friends who'd booked it. Sadly, nothing has changed. We had a set meal for four. The starter contained still frozen prawns (in the centre of some kind of ball) To be fair this was replaced without a fuss. The main part of the meal was hot and fresh but for the cost, but was totally unremarkable. We had between us a basic bottle of house red, and a total of six small bottles of Singha beer. Our bill was £240 with no desserts!! They even added for a dip we should have had with the replacement prawn balls! I never mind splashing out for a good meal. Sadly, I just felt disappointed. There are better places to eat out in Guildford. I can't recommend Rumwong. It's just not worth the money.

I've watched this place go gradually downhill over the years. We go every 6 months or so to see whether it is worth frequenting again. It hasn't changed much: - Food just OK and arrives suspiciously quickly, but with a menu of this size, no-one should expect it cooked fresh, and certain dishes don't need to be. - Chicken was overcooked and tough (or just bad chicken) - Servers mostly grumpy - Zero ambience - tables too close together, lights too bright What has changed though is the wine list, and I will not go here again because it is appalling. I eat in lot of high-end restaurants and there will always be a few wines at the cheaper end, such as a Picpoul or a Muscadet. One of the cheapest wines on the list was Muscadet was £45. That is probably 50% more than I've ever paid for a Muscadet. One final bizarre thing - the place was reasonably empty when we arrived and filled to about 70% when we left, yet they insisted on sitting us and successive new arrivals at a table by the fire door with a very cold draught. We moved, as did the next couple. Not sure if the 3rd couple did after we left.

Hi. Went this restaurant today with my daughter .The service was good, the ambiance was nice.The food which sounded really nice was very average. We got to the bill,they put service on. Then they overcharged for the drinks.Firstly the waitress came over and said we made a mistake .? Secondly a senior waitress came over.Then the manager said she had made a mistake not us.In the end they gave us us back £4. We won’t go again.

This place always delivers ! The food is very tasty and always tastes fresh. As opposed to other similar cuisine restaurants, I never leave this place feeling bloated or unwell, the food is filling but light. Quite pricey but worth it. Staff attentive and very lovely. Make sure to book in advance for a Saturday evening at least.

I was in the area for the day and this place caught my eye. Not only because of the high rating but also because they offer my favourite Thai dish which is hard to find - Rad Na. Within 15 minutes of ordering the food was ready to collect. I ordered Tom Yum soup and chicken Rad Na. The soup was alright but it was the Rad Na which was really nice. When I've had this in the past, it has been served with thick rice noodles (which I would have preferred) but the choice here was thin crispy noodles or vermicelli. I opted for the latter. The gravy was delicious, chicken and other ingredients were cooked well. Next time I am in the area I will order the same.

Very nice restaurant. You need to gobble your food down as quick as you can though because you only have 2 hours there, which half the time goes to them preparing your food

Quite often, my husband and I ordered takeaway from this restaurant. Yesterday we also decided to use this service. My husband ordered the 66 Talay Pud Nam-man Hoi for me. A few hours after dinner I felt sick. I was seriously poisoned and had an awful night. This is the worst thing that can happen to you after you eat at a restaurant or order food delivery. I will never neither go to this restaurant or or order some food from it again.

Best dinner i had in a very long time. Starters were crazily good, I recommend the pork ribs and shrimp dumplings. Special mention for the battered cod, it was tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside, sauces too were amazing. I also had tofu and it was Amazing too, crispy and well seasoned. I truly loved it. Staff was very professional, and took amazing care of us. Hope to be back in Guildford soon to grab dinner there again!

We booked this restaurant for Sunday lunch and were thoroughly satisfied. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with the staff in beautiful authentic dress. There was a Sunday fixed lunch from which my husband chose while the rest of us had a la carte. There were dishes I had never seen before in any other Thai restaurant I’d visited. My main course was slices of succulent duck on a bed of noodles with pak choi. It was delicious. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. A definite must to return to.

Went with friends this week. Service was terrible. The lady serving us couldn’t have been less interested. Table booked for 20:15 and it was clear they wanted us out as soon as possible. Maybe the staff aren’t getting enough sleep as every staff member looked...

Probably the best Thai restaurant in Surrey. Our meals were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection and served fairly quickly. We ordered a shared starter plate for the 3 of us, which was perfect. I ordered my usual which is a Thai Green Chicken Curry. Yummy. Can't wait to return .

I had the spicy papaya salad and a chicken Pad Thai and it was less than £25, tasted absolutely amazing and arrived piping hot. I will definitely be eating here again.

Their 2 sitting booking system is absolute rubbish. They insist they needs the table back at a certain time only to find the place is half empty when your time is up. They like to pretend to be busy when they’re not. And the reception at the entrance is very unfriendly. Before you get a hello you’re told when they need the table back. What is the point of all that Thai fake greeting with the hands in front of the face when you’re that unfriendly. Lots of new places opening in Guildford. They’ll need to step it up or lose out.

Great location, and very busy at 6pm on a Saturday night (which I assumed was a good sign!) Starters were very tasty, and my partner's stir fry was very nice however my fried rice was incredibly bland - absolutely no flavour or spice, I think perhaps something was omitted by mistake. On the higher end of pricing, not sure I'd be in a hurry to return.

As a westerner I’m used to people who speak a different language speaking poorly about customer not knowing they understand what is being said. I have been to this place multiple times hoping the visit will redeem itself but unfortunately it happened again: the elderly lady at the till was mocking me to another member of staff in Thai and of course I understood. She said ‘stupid foreigner is looking at labels she can’t read haha’ and then again at the counter she said ‘instant noddles, typical haha’ I really love Asian food but this happens a lot and it’s really disheartening and sad
