Thackeray Pub in Cardiff

Our second visit to Q&Q for a family Sunday lunch with grandma. The food was, as before, excellent with plenty of choice. Drinks for all tastes. Service was attentive, friendly and prompt. Prices very reasonable for quality and size of helpings. An altogether very pleasant and VFM experience - highly recommended.

Having decided to hold a vows renewal celebration in my Home town of Cardiff( I live in Cornwall).My son searched and found this venue for a get together after the service .Easy location Great setting,really helpful and friendly Owner,who went above and beyond in ensuring everything went smoothly. All the staff were a reflection of the owner,great service with a smile. The buffet was very well done and enjoyed by all.Thank you Katen for helping our day be memorable.

Popped in for a bite to eat and a drink with my partner on the way past, the service was very good, we didn’t age a reservation but this was not an issue and we were fitted in. My partner had the sea bass special which tasted like summer, fresh and crisp salad with delicious sea bass fillets cooked and seasoned perfectly, I had the sirloin, have to admit it was the best steak I have had in a long time, cooked perfectly (rare) came with a good amount of chips, peas, mushroom and tomato and washed down with a few pints of neck oil. We will be back soon

Great value for money, friendly service. Very popular for eating and drinking. Portion sizes are great, lovely touch by singing happy birthday to me with an age candle too in my pud! We ate there for dinner, breakfast the next day and then Sunday lunch on the way home. Highly recommend and we will definitely return.

Cracking Sunday lunch at Quill and Quote this afternoon, lovely ambiance, excellent roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, staff extremely friendly and professional as always. If you haven’t been, get yourselves booked in.

We stumbled on this almost hidden gem after a short shop on Newport Road, we wanted something easy away from the typical fast food. We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming member of staff and shown to an available table, the restaurant and bar had a relaxed atmosphere where everyone was friendly. The menu was enough and the food over delivered. The Chicken Tikka has clearly been marinated and not your typical jar or sauce you may get elsewhere. The price was reasonable especially for the portion size, plenty! Great selection of beers and beverages. A fantastic find! We will be back.

I visited Quill and quote for a light lunch and really enjoyed it. The staff were welcoming, approachable friendly and genuinely proud to be a part of the team there. Nothing was too much to ask. I ordered the giant fish finger sandwich which was absolutely gorgeous! It came with a side of chunky chips which was amazing value for the price...I couldn't finish it! I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again. 😊

Seeing the reviews beforehand, I was expecting really great things but sadly that didn't materialise! Very busy restaurant (and car park in particular) but staff helpfully found us a table before kitchen closing at a somewhat early time of 2030. Menu big enough but not huge. We had a couple of curries and burgers. Curry was OK but not hot enough for a madras and made with brisket rather than diced beef. Rice was somewhat congealed. Burgers reasonable but not special. Prices a bit on the higher side too.

Down in Cardiff to see my daughter. She hadn't visited the venue before either but what a great choice it was. Superb Sunday roasts, huge portions and struggled to leave enough room for pudding. Managed a lovely apple crumble with custard. Staff were great and I think my daughter and her boyfriend will be dining there quite often now.

First time and won't be the last. Excellent food (steak and ale pie and chicken tikka curry) and warm waffle to finish! Staff were lovely too.

Just wanted to say thank you for a fabulous evening celebrating my sons 21st last Friday. All my guests said their food was really lovely and they were very impressed with the venue and atmosphere. There was plenty of staff on so no waiting to be served. Staff were very friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them. Special mention to Paula who I made the booking with and greeted us upon arrival and made sure we got settled. Also, great communication via email as well and thanks to whoever decorated the area for us too. Much appreciated, thanks again.

Today was a Sunday lunch visit for us again and it is hands down the best sunday dinner my wife and i have had and will ever have. Every time we come its the best one we've ever had!!!!! But not only that, the Tuesday to Saturday lunch and dinner menu is also sublime and can't be missed. Huge portions and always faultless. I'm vegetarian and my wife is not and we never come away disappointed on any level whatsoever. The owners and staff are all incredible and the service is second to none. They do their upmost best to go above and beyond cannot emphasise how beautiful the decor is and how lovely the staff are this is definitely a home away from home! Outstanding Food and Service. We had our Christmas Aqua aerobics meal here for 41 of us and all I can say was there were 41 Happy people. Food was hot and tasty and the Service was spot on nothing was a problem. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
