Moura in Cardiff

Friendly relaxed but professional service and we only came in for a coffee.

We ended up going to this place almost by accident as our accommodation in Cardiff was changed last minute and we are very glad that it was because it resulted in us dining here. Everything about this place was brilliant. They were very welcoming upon entry, the place it quite small but has a cosy feel about it. We had the grilled Hake and blue cheese pasta for mains and both we're absolutely delicious. The lovely waiter who I believe is also a co-owner recommended a wine for us to have with dinner and the selection was spot on - complemented the food very nicely. For desert I wanted a glass of whiskey, which I was unfortunately informed they had sold out. I had an alternative instead, for which they covered on the house which was a very nice gesture. All in all, absolutely recommend to have dinner here!

Lovely restaurant - excellent food at a bit of a steal with the set menu. Brilliant service - handled allergies well. Sadly a little quiet on a Saturday night, but deserved to be full to the gunnels.

Called in for midday meal. All day breakfast was available so went for the full breakfast and a petit breakfast, pot of tea and a Black americano. Food was cooked well and was tasty. The Full was 2 bacon 2 sausage 2 eggs 2 rounds of toast hash brown half a tomato black pudding and beans the petit was 1 of each and 2 rounds of toast. For the price of each we have had better value in other places in Llandaff and Canton. For me the coffee was ok but nothing to write home about. Atmosphere was ok for a cafe and not a restaurant. Asked for tomato sauce to be told they would need to go out to buy it. Where we were sat if the entrance door was opened a draft came in and it was cold. The door did not close by its self so we had to close it ourselves a few times, lack of consideration by the customers so maybe a self closer on the doo might help. Staff were great, only a young lad front of house and a chef working in the back. The young lad did well.

I had the pleasure of visiting this fantastic restaurant for Sunday lunch, and it was an experience worth raving about! From start to finish, every detail was impeccable. I began with the French onion soup, which was fabulous– rich, flavorful, and brimming with depth. For the main, I enjoyed the roast chicken, and I have to say the portion was generous (I was really happy as I was starving!), accompanied by beautifully cooked roast vegetables, unctuous cauliflower cheese, and perfectly crispy green beans. I also ate half of my friend’s pork belly that had been cooked very well, the fat rendered down and super crispy cracking… did I mention I was starving?! Another standout was their wine list, which had some delightfully unique options available by the glass. It’s such a refreshing change from the usual standard choices like Pinot Grigio or Merlot – here, you get to try something off the beaten track without needing to commit to a whole bottle! The service was friendly and chatty, making the entire experience feel warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone, and I’m already looking forward to returning soon!

Great little Restaurant---abs fab Genuine Real People Francis has always made me feel so comfortable and his lovely Wife Caitin too.And im an OldLady on her own..So come in its a v Welcoming Place for all.Will have The Great Roasts when Winter comes --- v v soon .

The female clerk had a very friendly smile, and although we didn't order much afternoon tea and desserts, she still treated us very politely. We enjoyed a very comfortable afternoon on a small table by the window near the street.

Our first visit to Moura on a quiet Thursday night. Despite being the only people in the restaurant at an early 6.30pm sitting, we were very well looked after by the owners and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced on the 3 course more limited menu. Perfect portion sizes meant that even 3 courses were not overwhelming. We had French onion soup, whitebait, sea bream and minute steak. All were very delicious. With enough room for dessert, I opted for ice cream with chocolate sauce and the strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake my wife had was really lovely. Nice wine as well. We will certainly be back for dinner and look forward to trying their breakfast menu soon. Recommended for a nice casual dinner. The music was good too. UPDATE True to our word, we returned today to try the breakfast menu and it was as pleasant an experience as dinner. Lovely coffee and a very good full breakfast, not overwhelming in terms of size, but enough. The scrambled eggs were the best I’ve had in a very long time. And the poached eggs were perfect with the avocado on sourdough. Likely to be a regular venue. Just lunch to try now!

Fantastic place to go, the food is excellent, the staff are so lovely and the vegan chocolate and caramel tart is unbelievable! Would highly recommend and the prices are very reasonable -go support this wonderful independent!

Popped in for breakfast and it was very nice. Between us we tried most of the breakfast menu and it was all good although disappointing not to find a veggie version of the full breakfast. Not much atmosphere as it was empty apart from us.

The South African wine tasting event was really excellent. Some great wines explained clearly by Caitlin and copious amounts of delicious, unusual (for us) food. For £40 it was excellent value. A proper dining experience and not just a wine tasting. Bought several wines including my favourite the Simonsig Tiara 2018 - a Bordeaux type blend. So good. Service was great and very slick.

We had an excellent meal at Moura tonight. Shared a portion of perfectly crispy whitebait which were fresh and delicious. Husband enjoyed his steak frites and I had the confit belly pork with cabbage and puréed potato. Excellent sauce and everything was balanced and well cooked. Neither of us really had room for dessert but we wanted to try all three courses and decided to share a caramel, fudge cheesecake. Again, it was really enjoyable. Our evening was enhanced by having a window seat where we could watch the fireworks from the Conservative Club! But even without the fireworks, we would definitely visit Moura again and we would urge everyone to support this local, independent café/restaurant. Thank you, Francis and Caitlin for an excellent evening.

Have been to Moura a couple of times, both for breakfast and dinner. The service is excellent with a great variety of food and drinks. The wine retailer is a real bonus and the sommelier is very knowledgeable. Would recommend giving this a try!

The food was outstanding, top quality surpassing our expectation which were already high! We're both vegan and my wife is gluten-free and they had no issues hosting us. We were in the garden too for a while which was great - we'll be back to enjoy that properly when the weather warms up again. We'll definitely going back, and would highly recommend it. Francis and Caitlin are great hosts too - super welcoming! THANKS!

Great little restaurant for casual dining. I have been here twice now and the food has not disappointed. Reasonably priced meals and I love that the staff are knowledgeable about the wines served and the wines aren’t found in the supermarkets. Also loved the fact that they also retail these unusual wines which I couldn’t help but buy a couple of! The chef even came out to see if everything was to our liking.

I've been to Moura a couple of times with my family and it never disappoints! Food is always delicious & service is amazing. Particularly loved the Sunday lunch lamb shoulder, wish I'd taken a picture because words cannot describe how gorgeous it was.

Having visited the restaurant on a couple of occasions ( breakfast & lunch) and always been very satisfied by the food but not having had dinner previously - we were intrigued to discover the quality of the dinner options. Suffice to say we weren’t disappointed, I chose the cod in a red pepper sauce - it was simply exquisite, the fish melted in the mouth while the sauce complemented it perfectly. My partner had slow cooked rib of beef and again it was cooked perfectly. The only thing missing was the option of side options eg no vegetables but I am sure this will be rectified very soon . My partner were both hugely impressed by the quality of the cuisine as well as the most attentive and friendly service . We will be returning again soon . The restaurant has only been open a few months and as its a little tucked on a side road in Waun Gron , it’s yet to be fully discovered , so there were only a few diners when we visited but I am sure once word spreads of its existence and the quality of fare served up , it will be inundated and deservedly so .

I’m lucky to live close to Moura and have dined there twice now, firstly for lunch of Caesar Salad which was absolutely delicious (succulent chicken, well seasoned and crispy fresh lettuce) and more recently for dinner: for mains I had spinach and ricotta tortellini, sage butter and pancetta which was equally as excellent followed by millionaire’s cheesecake (dark chocolate, caramel and ice cream) paired with a fantastic French red wine. It’s evident that Moura takes a great of pride in what they do — fresh and high quality ingredients, thoughtful pairings and excellent, friendly and attentive service. Would highly recommend!

Our first visit to Moura Restaurant and it didn't disappoint! We are definitely looking forward to going back and trying the evening menu. For breakfast we had the Eggs Royal, Full Moura Breakfast and the Almond Croissant with yogurt and stewed fruit. All were delicious and the coffee was great.

Fantastic food! I cannot recommend the pork belly enough and the red wine to pair was also brilliant. Followed by a wonderful biscoff cheesecake. I will definitely be dining here again :)

It's a really lovely cafe that's local to me and the owners are lovely people too. My boyfriend and I come here a lot for drinks and we also had a meal here which was delicious.
