They need to pay more attention to the food. The eggs are too watery and the kunefe is burnt.

What a fantastic experience, definitely believe the hype! There's a reason its hard to get a table here. From start to finish the servers were extremely attentive. The balloon bread was a lovely and welcome surprise and the complimentary Turkish tea at the end was an added treat. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the cold mixed meze to start. The portion sizes were fantastic and we had to try our best not to fill up on all the delicious dips. I then had the Sarma Beyti. I've never tried this before but I think this might be the best thing I've eaten this year! So tasty, the flavours were incredible. I would highly recommend The Sultan!

This Turkish place felt so cosy and comfortable. Good price and great selection for lunch manu, homemade sauces were so delicious. Highly recommended if you're looking for food adventure.

I just love their lamb chops coated with pistachio nuts!!! It's a must try! Definitely gonna try it again. The menu is a bit pricey but you won't regret

Start off with the food, overall OUTSTANDING!! Especially the meat, some of the best tasting meat around. The lamachun was also amazing. Chips were decent. The only part of the food I didn’t really enjoy was the rice, I thought it was very bland. However the service wasn’t great to be honest, they took a very long time to come and take our drinks order and then again before they came back to take our order for food. They forgot to give us the bread, we had to remind them, they they brought us out somebody else’s meal, an then when they did bring our mains they forgot our rice and we had to wait another five minutes after already having our food. There was one waiter walking around with food and drink having to take it back because he was walking around looking so lost. Shame because the food was amazing. I will go back because the food was so good and hopefully the service was just a one off

The Sultan is located in Cardiff Bay and appears to be a converted pub. The layout is split, with a bar area to the left and dining to the right. The interior features red and green-grey walls, low mustard and green upholstered seating, and red ceilings. While the décor is distinctive, the combination of dim lighting and loud background music contributed to an already high noise level, especially with a large group dining. The restaurant seems well-equipped to handle large groups, but this significantly impacted service speed. There was an unacceptably long wait for drinks—my Negroni took around 30 minutes, and after being informed of an additional delay due to a large table, I canceled it. A more efficient approach would be to prioritize smaller drink orders before tackling a large group’s entire order. That said, the service was generally attentive, though a 10% service charge is added to the bill. Complimentary Turkish Bread & Cheese – A nice touch and enjoyable. The Babaghanoush was a small portion, overly smoked, but paired well with the bread. The mains of Grilled Octopus – Three well-cooked, tender tentacles served with a generous portion of vegetables (baby carrots, broccoli, green beans, and baby corn). However, the dish was overly oily, with a visible pool left at the bottom, and needed additional seasoning. Drinks – Due to the long wait, I didn’t get to try the Negroni. The food was generally good, with the complimentary bread and cheese being a welcome touch. However, the long wait for cocktails was frustrating, and better planning is needed when managing both small and large tables. We While service was attentive, it didn’t quite make up for the delays and there was a 10% service charge. The Complimentary Turkish tea at the end was a nice gesture, but overall, a mixed experience.

A lovely dinner with friends after watching the rugby. Food was excellent, service very good and nice atmosphere. Overall would highly recommend.

We had brunch here, and it was absolutely amazing and delicious. The service was great, and you can enjoy unlimited tea and bread with your meal!

Birthday celebration! Staff can’t do enough for you! Had the best espresso martinis at this place! Also 2 for £15 before 6pm and you can get 2 different ones! Food was amazingly tasty! Didn’t like the fig chutney with the halloumi starter but think that’s just a taste I didn’t like because the halloumi was good! Had chicken and Adana kofte grill! Price was really good value! £80 for 2 people including tip , starter mains and 2 cocktails each! Would come back again :).

Fabulous - excellent in every way. We only had an hour for 5 of us, meeting from different directions and due at the Millennium Centre by 7.30pm - but we were 'fed and watered' in the best of ways. Huge thanks for looking after us so well.

A lovely restaurant with a calm and sophisticated ambiance. Maitre D was attentive and got food to coincide with Iftar. Paid attention to detail. The food was well presented of a high quality and tasty. Portion sizes were good. I would eat again when I next pass by.

Really slow service - had to wait 30 mins for drinks (after asking a couple of times) then slow service for main and then staff seemed to disappear with no one asking if the meal was okay and, if we wanted dessert - which we did but decided to give up waiting and asked for the bill

Amazing Turkish breakfast. So much variety on the table, freshly prepared and everything complimets each other in flavour. Hands down the best honey and yogurt I have tasted. Unlimited tea on tap too. Was pretty quiet when we visited but the service was impeccable and fast.

Came here last night for a friends 40th birthday meal. The restaurant is located right across the road from a car park so no problem there. As soon as we arrived we were seated. We arrived about 6pm, was almost full when we arrived. Service was pretty quick. Drinks were ordered within a few minutes. We then ordered a mixed mezzee starter for the table which came with freshly made breads. Along with that we ordered individual starters. I had the lobster tail which was quite big, plenty of meat on there and very tasty. For mains I had the lamb ribs. You can't beat meat on the bone cooked over hot coals, nothing like it. The ribs came with a side of plain rice and a salad bowl. The salad came with pomegranate seeds and a pickle on top. Didn't come with any dressing though but they did provide some after asking. I then had kunefe for dessert, not tried it before. Was stunning, crispy pastry drenched in syrup with a scoop of ice cream on top it. Restaurant was nice inside and the servers were great. Will definitely visit here again. Our group of seven spent £500. Worked out £75 each. A few of the boys had a beer or two. Also there was a 10% service charge. Overall very impressed. Well done The Sultan!

Had the best service of my life from a waitress called Maya, maya remembered all of our names & was very good, funny and payed extra attention to all of our requests, it was my birthday and she made it just that bit more magical! Wow, we came here for breakfast and I have to say everything was out this world. The food is fresh and home made, nothing was too much, staff couldn't do enough for us. The sultan is decorated to a luxurious standard it's worth every penny. I highly recommend the turkish breakfast and French toast.

Fancied a Turkish but was recommended the steak by the friendly waiter and my god where do I begin. We went for the 10oz Wagyu Ribeye Steak. The best steak ive ever had in my life (Not an exaggeration). Never knew steak could be made that well. Bit on the pricier side (reasonable in comparison to the prices in England) but i have to say worth every penny. A real gem find on our visit to Cardiff. Also a special thanks to Mahfuz, our waiter who delivered a five star service. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back in the future. Keep up the fantastic standard of food and service guys!

We had a fantastic experience at The Sultan! The food was absolutely delicious. Everything we tried, from beyti to lahmacun and baklava, was full of authentic flavors and perfectly prepared. Amazing breakfast last week. Went on the off-chance that they would have some tables available on a Saturday morning and they did. We chose authentic dishes from the menu and they didn’t disappoint. Very tasty authentic fare. Was offered complimentary turkish tea, but declined and stuck to coffee on this occasion. Maybe next time.

We stopped in for lunch without a reservation on a weekday and were able to get a table easily. The food is delightful! The sharing breakfasts are amazing in terms of the variety and taste. The keema eggs are also super tasty. I would definitely go back.

I tried Edna kebab and was very good. In addition, there is a very sweet girl called Maya, she is beautiful and kind. Always active and funny, first time in my life I liked a girl like that 🤣☺️ although she is Muslim with Yamani blood🤣, unfortunately, I don't know how to speak with girls. I hope Maya reads this, keep going and be a good doctor. My regards to your family.

Went to order a takeaway, Ruhal was very polite and kind enough to offer me a complimentary Turkish chai while I was waiting. Good place, good food and most importantly, very good staff. I hope they are appreciated and taken care of for the work they do.

I’ve been heading over to The Sultan on a few different occasions most recently for brunch. I called in advance on the day to secure a table and they assured me no need to book and walk ins are welcome. I was greeted by a member of staff straight away and shown to a table. We ordered the Eggs Royale and the Eggs Benedict, strawberry lemonade and a fresh orange juice. Food was really nice my only critic is the muffin could have been more toasted as it was quite soft and one of my poached eggs was a little underdone and as I broke into it white liquid just oozed out. My husband’s food was okay just the under toasted muffin. Had a lovely time.

Where do I even begin? First and foremost, I want to give a massive shoutout to Maya. Her service was absolutely immaculate from start to finish. She was polite, friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Even as a group of 8 adults and a baby, she did her best to accommodate us, double-checking our orders and managing the table with patience and professionalism. However, I wish I could say the same about the rest of the experience. The food we received was appallingly bad—cold, slow to arrive, and incorrect. When we tried to address this, the managers were visibly annoyed, which is completely unacceptable in a service industry. To make matters worse, when we finally insisted on some compensation for the poor quality, they begrudgingly offered a mere 10% deduction—an insult, frankly. But what truly cemented this as one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had was the shocking behaviour of the owner. In front of my entire family, we witnessed Maya—this hardworking and kind young woman—be verbally abused by the owner. It was absolutely abhorrent to see someone treated like that, especially in front of customers. Had we known she would be subjected to such treatment, we never would have raised any complaints. We left feeling disheartened and disgusted by the behaviour of the management and ownership. Despite Maya’s outstanding service, we will never be returning. This is not how any restaurant should treat its staff or its customers.

A beautiful Turkish restaurant with the most delicious food and great friendly service. We went for breakfast and ordered the Traditional Turkish Breakfast which serves two, though arguably, we would say 2-4 persons!! It was all delicious! Would highly recommend this place and hope we can come back for dinner at some stage!

Paid £280 for my son graduation lunch. The food was called the service was very poor and extremely expensive. I have no idea why would even people go to this restaurant. The prices honestly are not worth the services and the quality of the food. I’m extremely disappointed it made the best day of my life with worse memories.

I had the full breakfast and the mediterranean, both were absolutely lush and very big portions. Fantastic customer service from the owner himself and complementary tea. Best finding experience in the bay.

Delicious Turkish Food . Mezze sharing starter is enough for 4 people all fresh and delicious. Main courses were melt in the mouth and. We were too full for Dessert . Lovely atmosphere great service and great food definitely 5 starts been here a few times now and love it .

This is a start and the final location of a very nice a Turkish cuisine experience. Either you can start your day with a delicious Turkish breakfast or have a nice lunch/dinner. Very cozy atmosphere with the owner’s and the restaurant team’s attention. Thank you very much; we felt like we are at home.

The food was decent. The service was terrible. The price was ridiculous. The waitress we had was lovely and apologised a few times for other staff - but other wait staff were absolutely terrible. They had attitude, brought bread out with nothing else so it got cold, and had to ask multiple times for our drinks. The food tasted good, but the service let down this experience, and for two of us, we paid £100 - for 2 mains and 4 starters!

This is a place that I can definitely recommend, with its hospitality that makes us feel at home in England, as well as its delicious food and nice atmosphere.

Absolutely delicious! Myself, husband, brother and his partner visited recently for breakfast .. wow it was absolutely delicious, every item we ordered was delicious.. although I must say my family had plate envy when they seen my french toast .. it was out of this world delicious.. I can't stop thinking about it. I will definitely be back next time I am in Cardiff.

Great place to dine out with the family/friends or just your significant other. Great atmosphere and location. The food is just amazing. Definitely recommend everything we had (refer to the pictures) and the mix meze as well. We found out that it’s a family run business and all the servers and manager(s) are so kind and helpful. It is slightly pricey but more than worth the food quality, atmosphere and service. Highly recommended!

Best service we can remember in a very long time. These guys deserve a rave review due to their impeccable hospitality, delicious and beautifully presented food. They also allowed us to have our dog with us AND they were fine with us bringing in a birthday cake!

A mixed experience following two visits. The first was a magnificent display of customer service skills with at best average food whilst the second was quite the opposite. Despite the handful of restaurant attendees the customer service was slow. More importantly, the food was no better than the initial experience. Atmosphere becomes irrelevant if the food or service aren’t to standards.

We come down to cardiff once or twice a year and always make sure we make it here for breakfast. It really is beautiful food. The taste is amazing. The service is fantastic and the staff are lovely. Looking forward to coming for dinner one time and can't wait to come back.

Fantastic experience at The Sultan. Four of us had their festive menu, which was really tasty - the filet steak was the highlight. Service was also excellent. We don't often visit Cardiff but will definitely be going back!
