Walking around the Bay and not really feeling any love for another chain restaurant. Found this beauty . Team excellent, set menu an absolute bargain. Well worth a visit. Thank you that was on duty today.

We thought this was one of the best Mediterranean restaurants we ever went to. Excellent food, well prepared and presented. Elegant environment, informative/ friendly staff, and nice to go for a stroll afterwards, because they are located right next to the Mermaid Quay.

We recently visited with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. From the moment we arrived, we faced issues with the staff regarding the placement of our baby stroller. Despite our best efforts to place it considerately, the staff repeatedly complained, which left us feeling unwelcome and frustrated. The food, which we had hoped would redeem the evening, was far below expectations. The lamb chops arrived cold, making them nearly inedible. The ribs were overcooked to the point of being burnt, lacking any of the rich, smoky flavor one would expect. To make matters worse, the prawns were overpoweringly strong in flavor, completely unbalanced and unpleasant. Overall, this visit to was a letdown in both service and cuisine. We left feeling disappointed and unlikely to return or recommend it to others.

WOW. I dont do reviews unless needed and this restaurant needs reviewing. Absolutely awesome. Kay our server was brilliant and also very knowledgeable about the menu. Infact changed our minds about what to order and so glad he did. The Bulgar is to die for. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat. Will be coming back.

I had to visit the restaurant that had a chokehold on everyone and was NOT disappointed. The food was amazing and staff were friendly, we came here with a few friends and I can already tell I will be a regular customer. I would say the place gives fine dining experience at a more affordable price. The drinks were so good that we kept asking for (they have options for both mocktail and cocktails, homemade lemonade and freshly squeezed juices too!!). And the best part the food, I am a meat lover so when I saw the steaks I had to go for it and thank God I did because it was incredible!! Definitely recommend it my friends have ordered the ocean kebab and the beef rib which were equally delicious.

We enjoyed the food. I ordered Adana kebab. It was great. We also ordered a birthday cake. The service was excellent. Decoration of restaurant great.

We went to the Sultan for our friends 50th. The service was great and staff were very friendly. The food was great very tasty. The cocktails were on point. Slightly over priced. We had a lovely night.

One of the best culinary experiences I’ve had in the UK. I’ve been here several times before and have tried most of their foods (the sarma beyti and the pistachio lamb chops). The staff is very welcoming and friendly, they definitely go above and beyond to make your experience memorable. The breakfast portions are very large so tasteful. I would recommend this place to everyone.

An overrated restaurant Not recommended at any time Bed experience

Amazing food! Great service and good value! We had some complimentary balon bread and Turkish tea :) I had the lamb and chicken shish and was cooked perfectly. The portions are very generous and it came with some bulgar wheat and salad. My mum had the sea bass which again was a good size portion with potato gratin. Would 100% come again and recommend!

This could've been good but I ordered wrong. If you go, don't get the chestnut chicken. Very weird dish, like eating a french salad dressing with unseasoned chicken on top. My BF had the lamb and it was great. Note to restaurant: take that off the menu.

The staff were highly accomodating and friendly to our group which made for a pleasant evening. We had the option to eat inside or outside as it was a quiet evening weekday booking. The Sarma Beyti was one of the tastiest Turkish dishes I have ever eaten. The menu is a little bit on the pricey side but is certainly worthwhile and this is reflected in the high quality food and experience.

Absolutely stunning food, so tasty, well cooked and the variety was amazing. We had vegan, gluten free and meat eaters and everyone was very happy!!! Thank you x

The food here is absolutely incredible. I didnt expect it to be such high quality food, and the presentation was amazing. I came here on a date and they could tell. They really looked after us and offered free tea and cake at the end to make the date even more special. The food tasted incredible and this has now become my new favourite restaurant in Cardiff. Trust me, you won’t regret eating here!

Bloody Brilliant!!! Had a lovely evening. The food was lovely. We were staying at the Voco and a short stroll took us to this lovely family run restaurant. It was our first time and we will definitely be back. Kay and his family are focused on a great customer experience and it shows. It’s not cheap- but you get what you pay for and in my mind it’s really good value.

One of the best restaurants in Cardiff (in my view). Food quality is amazing, portion is just enough and it’s delicious. The service is very good, staff are very friendly. I enjoyed my salmon and lamb was very well made, I will give them 10 of 10! I highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely go back again.

I've been to countless Turkish restaurants and this was hands down the best. The staff were attentive (shoutout kay) and the food was maybe the best I've ever had.

Incredible food, delicious cocktails

I personally was not that impressed with the food, and it was very overpriced. The staff were very polite and helpful, but I did feel that we were watched by staff throughout our meal as they stood within a couple of feet from our table. I used the disabled toilet before we left, which was not very clean at all. The floor was wet, possibly with urine as it smelled of urine, the toilet hadn't been flushed, and the sink was very dirty. I don't feel inclined to visit The Sultan in the future.

We had a fabulous birthday meal with the family tonight. Attentive service, friendly staff and gorgeous food. Thank you to all at The Sultan!

This was our first visit at the Sultan Cardiff. The service was excellent and the staff were so friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding, mainly impressed by the lamb shish (so tender). I would also recommend ordering the lamb kofte. I would definitely visit this place again…. Amazing!!!!

Absolutely amazing food with big portions! My husband and I wanted to try something different in Cardiff Bay so we decided to try this place. The food was delicious! My husband had steak and pistachio lamb chop for me. Everything was glorious! Service was also friendly. The free Turkish bread as a starter was also a lovely surprise. We went there again with our family for breakfast and we ordered menemen, pancakes and Turkish breakfast. So good! We’ll definitely come back again! Highly recommended and I promise you won’t regret coming here. :)

As if I am on a holiday in Istanbul. So lovely and kind staff. Treated my toddler with incredible politeness and compassion. Food is superbly presented and delicious at a great degree of finesse. Will definitely come back and recommend to friends and colleagues.

Had a wonderful time sat out in the sun enjoying breakfast. Waiting staff very friendly and helpful and value for money. The vegetarian breakfast was huge. Would have preferred less processed items (3 sausages 3 hash browns) and more of their delicious roasts veg and spinach but overall a really good experience. I recommend.

Best food we had in Cardiff while on holiday. Both lamb dishes we had were exceptional, and the baklava was amazing (and not too sweet!) The server was also exceptional; he answered all of our questions and handled our dietary restrictions gracefully.

I gave the food 5 stars because the taste, presentation and cleanliness are great. I gave the service 5 stars because the staff enjoys their job. I gave the atmosphere 5 stars because it is in the most beautiful location in Cardiff. Try this flavor now

This was our second visit. Service was prompt, efficient and not too much "in our face". The food was fresh, plentiful and delicious. Our only complaint was that the lobster was too rich to finish, even between 2 of us.

Went to The Sultan for dinner with my family, and it was amazing. The food, service, ambience, and atmosphere were brilliant 👏 The menu choices were great, the food we had was excellent, and cooked to perfection with excellent presentation. It was delicious. Saw this place on Instagram and decided to grab breakfast there on the very same day. Had the traditional Turkish breakfast for 2 which was insane! Loads of food and an amazing variety of flavours. The service was super friendly and attentive. This has become our new favourite eatery!

The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly to me and my dog. We were seated outside. The food was outstanding, and I was really impressed with the seafood options. They even brought some carrots for my dog (her favourite snack!). I can’t recommend this place more.

We came here twice and both the food and the service were exquisite. I can't recommend enough. And everything is halal! We'll be coming back for sure.

Amazing food at Sultan. Service was great-friendly and knowledgeable and attentive to the right level. I ordered the lamb shish, which comes with an amazing Turkish bulgur and side salad. Also a variety of dips which were delicious. I finished with a Turkish tea which was lovely. Venue is modern and comfortable, will definitely return and highly recommend

My first visit here was based on a recommendation from a fellow guest at the hotel where we were staying. To put it simply: WOW! The food was incredible, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was spot on. The complimentary puffed bread with goat cheese and sauces was a perfect starter. I began with the calamari, which was exceptional—quite a feat considering how particular I am. For my main course, I had the pistachio lamb chops, which were simply divine. The three large chops were served with mashed potatoes, but I opted for bulgur rice instead, which was accommodated without issue. I did sample my wife's mashed potatoes, and they were excellent as well. My father in-law had the Sea bass and three pieces of succulent well cooked fillets were in the dish. Our server was outstanding, and all the staff were very attentive, ensuring the table was cleaned between courses and checking in after our meals were served. The food arrived hot and in good time. My mother-in-law had the lobster tail, which was also amazing. The complimentary Turkish tea at the end was a nice touch too. Despite being open for only about a year, if they maintain this level of service and quality, securing a table here will soon become a challenge I am sure. It was worth every penny and I for one, will visit again when I’m next in Cardiff. Bravo The Sultan on a stunning dinning experience from all of our table!

I can not fault this place, great service, and delicious food. A true example of Turkish hospitality. My nephew is a fussy eater, they went above and beyond to accommodate him, and made us all feel very welcome.

Best restaurant in Cardiff!!!! We were treated like honoured guests at The Sultan, today. We chose from the lunch munu, not expecting to be overly impressed ....but WOW! Delicious, beautifully presented dishes. Absolutely wonderful. Noticed the new outdoor dining area-it looks great....more sophisticated than other offerings nearby. Thank-you to the patient, kind, professional staff - we felt like princesses! One last thing......the bathrooms are gorgeous 😍

Bang average for me .Even though the food is clearly fresh made with fresh ingredients and nothing is processed, I just feel like it's missing something .I feel like it lacks flavour and spice I normally expect from a Turkish themed restaurant and the lokum steak I had came with an overly sweet sauce which in my opinion did not go well with the mash and steak . I feel like this place can be great with a few tweaks and a bit of spice and authenticity but for me taste wise it just misses the mark .

It was a disappointing experience. Firstly, the service was not up to par. The staff were not particularly friendly, and while we were still deciding on our main courses, the waiter insisted on taking the menus away, as he did not want them to get dirty. I asked him how I could choose what I wanted to eat if he took the menus away. None of the staff seemed enthusiastic about their work, and they even had the audacity to add a service charge to the bill. What service? Secondly, the food was terrible. There was a large group of us, and we all ordered different dishes, but everything was awful. The portions were small and overpriced. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I certainly will not be visiting again. I would rather go to City Road, where there is much better food, value for money, and service with a smile.

Sadly a quick meal pre theatre...would like to come here for a more relaxed meal as the food is delicious.

Interior well presented and staff very attentive from the moment we walked in. Food arrived in perfect time, enough time to enjoy a drink first but not too long to get too hungry! The food was good and the service was alright ,but the salad is to dry and not seasoned when I ask for the bill they don’t tell customers they charge you for service charge which is wrong.

This place is insanely good. I’m a fussy eater, but everything looked so beautiful I was happy to try it all (which is very unlike me). Everything tasted amazing - thankyou for opening my eyes to new flavours! Will definitely be back, we had a great time!

Excellent food. Great service. Really nice atmosphere. Food was flavourful and beautifully presented. We came in for an impromptu birthday lunch and went for the set menu. The price was really good especially considering how good the portions were. Will be back for the breakfast and A La Carte menus! Highly recommend ordering a side of the Sultan salad.

So when I walked in I was pleasantly greated. I asked for gluten free and no potato options (due to intolerances) and the gentleman taking my order wasn't sure if they had any. I thought I may have to go elsewhere as I needed a carb for my side. But they were happy to acommadate, which was nice. And when I paid I was asked if i wanted a Turkish tea, that was a nice touch...Food wise it was lush, alot more of the menu I would like to explore as they offer a nice seafood variety too.

The restaurant was spacious and it wasn't crowded during lunchtime on a weekday, so we was able to enjoy the meal.

Beautiful food and family friendly. We will definitely be back!
