Tesco in Edinburgh, City of

Food was as expected, service was slow but got there. I had to clear a table before sitting, but the reason for the poor review was the constant security alarm going off for the supermarket door. Great place to dine for those with plenty of time and hearing difficulties.

Went for my usual breakfast last Thursday, Despite no one else waiting was ignored for about 5 minutes by the 2 male staff, one of whom was standing in front of me, the other walking up and down aimlessly. Not even a word maybe "Good morning sir, I'll be with you shortly". Sadly I won't be going back.

We come to this cafe once a week and never seen it so unkempt the tables were not wiped properly and corners were dirty. When previous manageress here it was never like this!

Coffee was good, we were warned food would be a long wait which was OK but I ordered macaroni cheese, it was horrible, did not taste of cheese and not much on the place. Won't be returning.

Food was OK other than the Cold bean's which weren't even offered to be replaced by Hot bean's. Staff was told & felt like it totally went over his head, too much of an inconvenience for him to change COLD BEAN'S FOR HOT BEAN'S

Its a cafe that serves decent coffee and food for a very reasonable price

Served by Stephen today excellent customer service. Very friendly very nice cuppa.

Had a breakfast muffin, cutlery was given but didn't use it, glad I didn't. Food residue still on fork. Disgusting.

Great welcome, lovely menu selection for all dietary requirements and a great coffee. The staff make it.

Popped in for lunch today, asked for fish and chips and we were told there was no fish! There's a fridge full of fish on the shop floor! Decided on Macaroni, chips and garlic bread, Macaroni looked like it came out a tin, garlic bread was just cooked (burnt on one side) on one side, chips were nice, also ordered nachos which had spent to long in the microwave! Would not eat here again, would have been better off buying a meal deal!!

Rolled into here 8am after a rough night, lovely breakfast and coffees and the chap who served us was very friendly and pleasant 👌

We all ordered different meal everyone was happy and price was good. Food was served promptly and all meals were ready together. Dtaff were helpful and friendly.

Internet says Cafe opens 7am but then get told upon asking what time they're open, it's 8am!! Sort it out!!

Excellent choice of either cooked or cold foods. Choices of drinks good. Plenty of space between tables and staff very friendly

Suffers because of its virtual monopoly as a supermarket which is reflected in the attitude of a significant proportion of the staff who display a don’t care attitude.

Very wide choice, including chilled drinks if you are so inclined, but it is difficult to differentiate Tesco from any other place.

Excellent Tesco. Fully stocked with anything you would expect at the grocers only more. Nice staff as well.

Staff are friendly and attention to detail

A great way to casually start your day with a little Scot breakfast! This is located next to the Hotel Dakota.

The surroundings are quite old looking and it feels as though people are still shopping due to the amount of trollies at the seating area.

Visited around 1.30pm and ordered the all day breakfast. The bacon had been kept warm so long under a heat light at the counter that I could not cut it, let alone bite or chew it. The sausages seemed to have been lying equally long - a hard crust on the outside, the inside really dry. The only photo of a breakfast on display showed appetising toast and grilled tomato. What I got instead (not offered any choice when I ordered) was really sour tinned tomatoes, a load of pale chips and beans. So, so disappointing.

OK, it's only a supermarket cafe. But, it's less than overwhelming. A poor reflection on Tesco although, dare I say, it's probably a rented in-store concession. Coffee break yes. Food, NO. Try somewhere else.

What can you say - it's a big supermarket! Good range of stuff generally although not much of an ethnic food section e.g. We couldn't get kabanos (smoked Polish sausage) and we'd been used to getting them in our previous supermarkets before we moved to the area. Other than that, good selection of other items.

The food wasn't good. The service wasn't great. The prices are not as cheap as you would think for a supermarket. If you need a refreshment break before/after your shopping, there are other places you could go nearby. However if this is really the most convenient option, it's not going to kill you but just go in with basic expectations and you won't be disappointed!

wanted a quick breakfast as had to get out and about, had to wait a while for veggie sausages to be cooked, server not friendly which is unusual in Scotland, food was tasteless more expensive than weatherspoons and not 1/2 as good wouldnt go back

Had a breakfast before doing the shopping.mfood was cooked well and came hot service was good friendly staff always a smile on their faces.

I'm not a fan of supermarket cafes in general but this one is good. Of course, like any supermarket cafe it is functional rather than attractive but the food and the service were good. The all-day breakfast was excellent - you could choose six items for your plate from the usual breakfast offerings. Costa coffee was excellent as were the scones and cakes. Children could choose items for a bag and again there was a fairly wide choice for a fixed price bag. The children got fun choosing the items.
