Tenby Tandoori in Pembrokeshire

What a gem. Wonderful food and restaurant. We had one of the best Indian meals we have had for a very long time. Lovely environment and friendly, helpful staff. We are on holiday in Tenby and plan to return later in the year. Tenby Tandoori will definitely be on our list to revisit.

Went here as a couple for an evening meal in March 2024. Our main meal was very tasty and we couldn't complain about the food we had. However, there were problems that did affect my experience and opinion. Firstly there was only one member of staff taking orders, cleaning tables and running the front of house. He seemed very nice and polite but seemed to wander around the restaurant not doing a lot. It wasnt that busy in the restaurant and although he was alone it was quiet enough that he should have been able to manage. It was clear that multiple customers had to chase him just to take their orders or bring them their drinks. It took approximately forty minutes for him to take our drink order and a further 15 minutes to get the drink. We ordered a starter and main and the starter never came. He didn't apologise that it didn't come and just took it off the bill at the end. There were tables dirty for the entire two hours we were inside and despite having ample time to clean up he never did. Some customers did turn up and asked for a table but he was looking around to see if there was a table available. There were lots of tables but he wasn't cleaning any of them to allow customers in. Again, the bloke seemed nice but it just appeared that he needed a good shake to wake him up and actually do some work.

We ordered a takeaway for 6 people by phone on a Friday evening. Not busy there at all. Friendly staff. Great service. Tasty food. Loved the Lamb Dansak.

Very disappointed! Walked down to have a nice meal and it was closed. Checked the website before and it said it was open 5-10. Think u need to up date Yr website!!!

Used to visit Babucci until it unfortunately closed, so was a bit sceptical when we visited the new tenby tandoori, thankfully things hadn’t changed much at all and the food was still great

Formerly Barbucci's Indian Restaurant (which was always very good), the Tenby Tandoori, from what I recall, is pretty-much identical to what it was when called Barbucci - which is a good thing....albeit they no longer serve King Cobra, which I was a fan of!! As this was our first meal here (under its new name) we opted for the usual starter / mains / accompaniments to get a feel for how it compares. I have to agree with an earlier reviewer who said that this "is the best Indian restaurant in Tenby" because everything was well-cooked, hot, and tasted great...noting that the lager was neither well-cooked nor hot - but delicious nonetheless! Finally, note that, like some other Indian restaurants in Tenby, this is a cash-only restaurant and the nearest cashpoint....isn't at all near! (Tenby High Street I suspect)

What a fantastic find! We stumbled across Tenby Tandoori after the restaurant we were going to was closed. We are so pleased we did!! Excellent service, so polite and attentive. Surroundings lovely, music at just the right level. And the FOOD ….. it was beautiful. Chicken Peshwari my new favourite!! Good value too. We shall be booking a birthday party evening meal there in November and thoroughly recommend on our experience. Thank you.

We went on Saturday 7th Oct for an evening sit down meal and had probably one of the best Indian meals ever. The restaurant tables were fairly quiet when we were there but quite a few people came in to pick up their takeaway orders. We each had something different and all four meals were superb. Well worth a go if in Tenby.

It's great to have another good place to eat to add to the list! The staff were really welcoming and friendly, the service was attentive and swift, and the food was absolutely delicious. I've never had an achari dish before, but it's definitely one of my favourites now. Will absolutely be coming back.

Took 45 minutes to have our order taken, the popadoms took 30 minutes to arrive. We then had to wait over an hour for our food, the wrong food came and most of it was cold. The restaurant was empty so there was no excuse for the wait. Needless to say we walked out. Would not recommend

Had Chicken madras and pilau Rice. Rice was quite dry, hardly any flavour so didn't eat it. Chicken Madras had hardly any chicken, counted 6 pieces, that being said the sauce was plentiful and was really nice in flavour. Quite disappointed with the take away considering how much I paid for a curry and rice, I expected better so I doubt I'll be going back which is a shame as I was really looking forward to it.

This was our first takeaway from Tenby Tandoori and it will certainly be our last, walked down in the rain for the time it was meant to be ready, waited for about 20 mins maybe longer for the food, got home and found that the peshwari lamb curry was missing so phoned them, they agreed to do it, meanwhile the rest of the family started their meals, disgusting value for money, Lamb rogan josh five very small pieces of lamb and bulked out with large quarters of tomato, chicken madras very little chicken, family finished their meal which didn’t take long as not really much to eat, I then had to go back out in the rain to pick my curry up, considering the inconvenience and the fact that they caused it they then wanted to charge me, not a chance I was paying, as I complained about this I was given the curry and ushered out , the thin guy in black not sure if he’s a delivery driver kept saying in a very loud voice, thank you, goodbye a number of times, well it wasn’t worth the extra trip as this curry was worse then the other two, less lamb and cold , all I will say is no thanks Tenby tandoori, goodbye . Ive uploaded a photo of my lamb curry , should be renamed spot the lamb in the curry dish .

Was disappointed with our take away. Ordered saag aloo which was a very small portion for the price, my tandoori lamb chops were nice but hubbys tikka massala was bland and his keema naan had hardly any filling. Found it quite expensive compared to other Indians weve had so wont return unfortunately. Need to improve there portions

Quiet and conveniently located to our holiday accommodation. Well worth a visit! We opted for a takeaway last night…the food we had was really good with generous portions. The paneer tikka starter was excellent and just like we get from our local curry house back at home in the Midlands. The lamb tikka madras was perfect, just as we like it ‘hot and spicy’. There were plenty of poppadoms, chutney and raita. The coconut rice and cheese and garlic nan bread were also delicious.

Awful, like spicy tomato sauce and chicken pieces, never heard of a saag, buhna was tasteless, garlic chicken was passable, staff couldn't understand English. Sorry but for the price I should have gone to Tesco and bought pre prepared

Newly opened, this surprisingly roomy and atmospheric basement curry house serves the best dishes and most generous portions of any Tenby Indian Restaurant. Cobra beer on draft and a wide range of authentic and popular dishes. Great naan and chutney selection too.

First time Opening night The menu is amazing I found quite a few dishes I have never seen before can’t wait to go back for more. We were greeted by Hannah who was a very attractive pleasant young lady Our waiter Abdul was very knowledgeable, helpful, and polite. We was really hungry when we arrived so we tried four different starters between the two of us ,really good. The main course was amazing I had prawns and my wife had Chicken Makanwhala she described as amazing. They had a few teething problems like when they prepared a sizzler dish it set the alarms off but they took it in their stride carried on it was a good evening with free entertainment.

Regular visitor nobody's answering the phone for past week is it open website states it is.

Food was mediocre the atmosphere was nice but certainly lacked Indian authenticity. The service was first class by the waitressing team and they were very attentive. The owners need to focus more attention on making it a bit more of an authentic 'indian' experience, I certainly felt I could have been in any restaurant and it didn't quite feel right.

Absolutely Stunning food! little but more expensive then your average but definitely worth it!

Visited here on the 28th July. My partner's food balti was not as he had expected. Sent it back, owner removed from the bill. Even tho they asked me if mine was ok, I did say yes but carrying on eating it some chicken was slices some chunks and burnt on some edges, so told owner about it , she said that's how it should be.We have had many curries different places, countries, speaking honestly this was the worst. Owner got really obnoxious about it, slapped bill on the counter and told us to leave without paying.

One of the best Indian Restaurant/Takeaways in Tenby!! I Tried here for a takeaway whilst on holidays with the family. Pleasant friendly staff, food was absolutely lovely! Very big portions! Hot and tasty. Would recommend this place to any one! Will be having another takeaway before going home!! Thank you!! Fantastic place!!

This place is a hidden gem of the town, I’m quite fussy when it comes to enjoying an Indian takeaway, so read a few reviews on local places to eat, this one stood out on every review site that came up on google, checked their menu for pricing, which was pretty good. Called up and placed the order and collected in 20 minutes. From the outside this place looks quite small, like it would be suited in a Spanish or Mexican village (I dunno why my mind conjures that up), upon entering you walk down some stairs and it’s like you enter an oasis...I felt like I wanted to stay and have a meal at the restaurant, it just felt like a restaurant should, welcoming, calm and pleasing on the eye. Anyways, food was brought to me immediately and we took it back to where we were staying. I’ll be honest, I’ve never had an Indian ever where you get so much chicken, it was lovely, it was consistent over the 2 meals too. The meals were hot (as in hot and cold), they tasted fresh, looked fresh, the chicken had a lovely texture, even the poppadoms looked, felt and tasted fresh. We ordered a Chicken Tikka Madras and a Chicken Tikka Vindaloo, I’ve never had one where you can see the chilli in, it was a nice touch. Overall, I was very pleased and the only negatives are that I won’t get an opportunity to eat there this trip, but if I come back, I’m booking a table and I never took any pictures. Just to finish, staff were lovely, very informative and friendly upon arrival.

Lovely little Indian _Bangladeshi restaurant. A nice intimate place with good atmosphere. Food is very tasty. I can personally recommend the Chicken shaslik. Very reasonably priced to.

I was recommended this restaurant by several people in Tenby and after reading the reviews i decided to give it a try. I looked at their website and looked at the menu which looks great. After a fairly long walk to get there in the evening i found the place was shut. There was a notice on the door saying the kitchen was being refurbished and they would be closed for about 4 weeks if i remember correctly. Why not tell people you are closed by a putting notice on your web site instead of waiting until they get to the door. Very disappointed.

Wonder hidden gem in Tenby. RVSP so you don’t miss out. They accommodate for our large group that included 3 small children. There is a goldfish pond inside the restaurant that was the best entertainment for our kids. No mobile phones allow and no WiFi or service since it’s in the lower level. Don’t recommend children if they can’t entertain themselves or don’t have non-WiFi activities. There is a toy shop in town that I went to prior to buy coloring and games. That plus the fish pond did the trick FOOD: excellent and amazing! chicken Korma was nice and so was the Lamb Madras. Highly recommend!

Lovely food, good size portion. Very friendly owners.. we had no phone signal they lent us there I pad for my son... he was very happy chappy.. great place cozy. Will definitely be come back. Next time we are in tenby

Incredible food! We had vegetarian Bhoona, dansak and carrot and cauliflower bhaji which were delicious. The garlic naan was to die for. Staff very friendly and welcoming, an absolute gem and sad we only found it on our last night!

We went to this restaurant in May ,2017 . Ambience is excellent so is food and service. Believe me, Indian food served is the tastiest I have had in the UK so far. Authentic,fresh and hand made. Love for this restaurant made us drive all the way from Pembroke Dock to Tenby the next day for dinner. I would highly recommend this place if you are in Tenby.

This place came highly recommend what a disappointment nice place nice service my chicken tikka masala was awful all I could taste was desiccated coconut also overpriced they hammer you in the side dishes and soft drinks it was a Tuesday night it must have been the chefs night off so beware if you think you will get what your paying for

Fantastic food & attentive service. We visited in October which is obviously low season & indeed we were the only people in the restaurant !! None the less we were made welcome, served wonderful food by a lovely waiter & we had a terrific meal. Highly recommended

Staff are fantastic. We came on a Sunday for the Sunday buffet. Really lovely atmosphere and a cosy setting. The curry's weren't the absolute best I've had but considering it was a buffet and produced on mass it was decent. And for only £12 each we couldn't complain - the food temperature was hot and tasted good :-)

Been using this place for the last 5 or 6 years but after the latest experience NEVER again. Bland food, stupidly expensive, and ignorant owner. Save your money and find another curry house that actually wants your custom, PEMBROKE TANDOORI miles better than this place!!!

I don't say this lightly - but this was one of the best curries I have ever had! Really lovely fresh ingredients and flavours. I couldn't recommend it highly enough; superb!

Terrible food experience. Place appears to be run by Brits who have no Asian cooking experience. Meal was bland and tasted of v Curry powder.
