Tempest Inn in Brighton and Hove

I visited Tempest a few times during Brighton Music Conference she the vibe of this place is amazing. Definitely recommend their vegan chilli cheese burger as well. Looking forward to coming back next time I'm in Brighton

Nice beach front bar ideal for a beer in the sun. Friendly staff. Only criticism is the beer selection is pretty limited but overall a decent visit

Had a difficult medical situation tonight and the team were unbelievable. Cornelius in particular went above and beyond to make sure everyone was safe and was both highly skilled and very calm in what he did. Thank you so much, couldn’t think of what to do other than this to say thank you but hope it will get some recognition.

Not sure in what world this is a Jumbo shrimp £15 sandwich, (the Louisiana mayo must have evaporated 😂) as always dont be fooled by a new name on the tourist part of the seafront! Its always underwhelming and overpriced!

Tempest is an amazing pub! This review is purely in regards to their current kitchen Puffin. Not sure if I was unlucky but my £15 "roll" turned out to be a single slice of brioche bread folded in half with not a lot inside. It was tasty, but was pretty stingy portion size wise, especially for £15! It made me a bit sad.

Sunday Roast is superb! I highly recommend. Great place to sit and watch the world drift by.

Was enjoying some pints with a friend on the Tempest terrace! Great energy! Amelie, the think their name was helped us with some snack recommendations off the menu! We got some tasty truffle tater tots!

We hosted our staff Christmas party for around 25 people at The Tempest. The service was excellent, the food delicious and the space suited our needs perfectly.

The Fish & Ships tasted very good. It took a very long time before we got the food. You also have to collect and pay for the drinks separately. You cannot do this at the same time. That was a bit confusing.

It was odd, beautiful, fun and fascinating with an awesome vibe and a huge array of beer on tap!

We hosted our wedding reception on the top floor of the Tempest and could not have been happier with our choice. The atmosphere was perfect, with multiple rooms and an outside area to allow people to chat/dance/sit to eat. With the Tempest also hosting music events it meant we were able to use their speakers, decks and lights which meant our guests were dancing till the early hours! The food package was perfect for what we needed and at great value, tasty buffet foods for soaking up drinks! The kitchen staff were also able to cater for all dietary needs which was very important to us as the Bride is a coeliac (gluten-free). The staff were amazing! Bec sorted all of the behind the scenes organisation and explained exactly what was on offer to us. The rest of the front of house crew and chefs were great with helping us with anything we needed on the day. Especially the manager with the earpiece (who we never caught the name of, sorry!) who was very friendly and attentive. Thank you so much to everyone! Overall, anyone reading this for event hire should not hesitate. The Tempest is such a great location to get to for multiple guests, has sea views, delicious food and friendly, helpful staff. Their refurbishment and new kitchen menu has really paid off for them. The reactions we got from our guests speak to this review too.

Great atmosphere but air con was on really drafty sitting near it . Staff always polite and attentive.

Stopped in here for a cheeky drink. Great spot to take in the atmosphere & do some people watching during the day. There are lots of seating inside & there are toilets available too.

By far the best Brighton beach bar you can find. Location, menu, hospitality, music variety and dance opportunities are not bettered anywhere else.

We were out for drinks and music only. I enjoyed both. I only wish for the tables to be cleared up a bit faster, and for the floors to be less sticky.

We hired the upstairs room for our wedding reception and we could not have asked for a better service from Bec and her team. Everything was stress free, the room and an additional room next door was absolutely perfect. We’ve had loads of comments from our guests on how perfect the even was. Thank you Bec, you made the day even more special!

You want the context, you want the pier, you want the beer but I had a great time in this place! I had a lobster sandwich, stuffed tortillas and fish and chips which were divine.

Good spot for some drinks and decent music depending on the night

Shouldn’t be listed online as one of the top 10 places to have a birthday celebration. Booked a week in advance and specified it’s a birthday celebration and will bring cake. Upon arrival staff couldn’t even show us the reserved table, no one around to help us and general non attentive attitude. The staff seemed like sulky teenagers when we complained after they just refused to help us with plates for our cake. Thankfully one staff member was very sweet and came with a bottle of Prosecco to say sorry. He was the only kind and attentive server there. Overall, regretted booking my 35th birthday there

amazing food service and atmosphere 5 stars

Came out for a wedding reception at the function room last Saturday. Being a local, I love the Tempest for being beach side and always fun. On this night the function space was great, music excellent but the staff were a particular standout. Wedding went without a hitch. Freya and Owen took great care of us and were funny and helpful. The main bar had an excellent set and people were dancing past 2am. Security were also of note, showing remarkable patience with some particularly drunk individuals and treating them with respect and care far beyond what I usually witness at 2am on Saturday. All in, had a cracking time and will be back soon!

The drinks are now offensively over priced. It’s disgusting how aggressively Tempest are ripping the public off. The girl behind the outside bar last night was one of the most miserable people I’ve ever seen. Service was generally slow, the majority seem disinterested. The only positive was that they were playing is to my taste. If it was my choice, I would never return again.

Great venue that can do everything, we came here on a sunny Saturday and had the best sea food inspired menu, we happened to walk back past later and the most incredible party was happening. Thanks so much to all the team for a memorable weekend!

A truly amazing birthday at Tempest partied all night.

Great spot along the beach front with outside seating. Hard to pick a spot along the walkway but would definitely come back. Staff were lovely and good fun, had some beers and a burger which was great! Wasn’t planning on eating but saw some food being served at a near by table and thought we should try. Very glad we did!

Fantastic beach venue, beautifully refurbished and the bonito menu is delicious - would highly recommend the prawns. Always great music there but the best part is the staff, lovely people who make everyone welcome. One manager especially, Tom, is outstanding and on the ball. Quite easy on the eye too.

Such a shame as this place looked amazing online. They took a £100 card hold for a 10 person reservation, but theres no table service. We went on a Friday night and it was packed with only 2 people on the bar working super slow. None of the drinks were cold. A shame!

Whenever we go on vacation, I always seek out themed or unique dining establishments. I had made advanced reservations for an indoor table at Tempest in long for 6pm. We were promptly seated without any delay, and we used a QR code to order and pay, with a server delivering our food directly to our table. The menu options were limited, as were the drink choices, although it was evident that they had a full bar and could prepare any drink. The food was delicious and the ambiance was enjoyable. It's a fantastic spot to gather with friends for drinks, but I wouldn't necessarily return for a family dinner.

Avoid this place if you’re vegetarian or vegan. We ordered 4 vegan burgers and triple checked they were not entered as the meat version as the guy serving seemed to have some attitude with our choice of order. After an hour of waiting we received our order then started to eat and to our horror realised it was meat. We complained and were told that we must have ordered incorrectly as the order was entered as the meat version. After some arguing the staff relented and put in the vegan order without an apology and so he we had to wait a further hour. As someone who has grown up in Brighton this is the worst service I have ever seen. Just because someone has different philosophical beliefs about animal products should not allow your staff to treat us with such disdain.

Had lunch at the Tempest’s ‘Bonito’ kitchen - the location is fabulous, right on the seafront. The menu is predominantly fish, which was a bit daunting for someone like me who isn’t keen on seafood! I settled on the scampi taco, which was actually really delicious, and a potato salad as a side. I think I would have liked a bit more from each dish considering the price of each item (£7 for the potato salad seemed steep!), but no complaints about the food itself. The service is pretty slow, but that doesn’t seem to matter so much when the location is so nice. I would definitely come back on a sunny day ☀️

What a night club!! Total Ibiza vibe inside and superb smaller club upstairs with amazing dj’s! Did 7th June Friday / very quiet and sat 8th June after i360 for the after party . Dj Lisa curious etc playing upstairs and our ‘fab’ lady fanning the dj’s and us throughout the night. Bless her! X will deffo be coming back! Ps older crowd upstairs for us 50 yr olds who love to dance to house music till 3am lol

Great food. Great service. Great value. The atmosphere was great. The food was superb. We had oysters, prawns, burgers & the sea bass tiradito, which were all superb. It was a sunny day and busy, but there was no wait for drinks or food. Great team ! We’ll be back for sure 10/10

Food, inedible. Portions not matching the prices, the burger was absolute disgrace, plus the patty was sooo raw, if I put plaster on it, that cow will walk again. Awful.

At the Tempest / Bonito we had some cracking prawns, whitebait and ceviche to share as starters. And most of us had haddock and chips for mains. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Loved the fries and sides. Can’t wait to go back.

It is a lovely place to eat on the beach front. Spicy curry sauce hit the spot.

Brilliant location, the Tempest team hosted our team meeting in their excellent meeting room facility which has great views of the beach. With large screen TV and VC facilities, wonderfully attentive service throughout our stay and a fabulous lunch. I'd recommend this for anyone looking for a meeting location.

Hired the newly refurbished private meeting room - great spot! Room is spacious, air conditioned and has all the facilities we needed for a productive meeting - can easily seat 12+ people. The view is a lovely distraction if the meeting agenda drags a bit! Service and attention to detail was great!

Best music and venue around the sea front

I get it, Brighton on a sunny bank holidays can be busy but first, it's not an excuse for the staff to be rude. Then, we waited over an 1h for our food (the fish and chips next door took 5 minutes), plates got dropped on the table without comments, we got drinks spilled on us without any sorry or towels brought to dry everything. For that price (£18 for a burger, £9 for a cocktail), I was expecting a slighly better service (or at least a smile!!!) Pass your way and enjoy a meal somewhere else!

Great vibes, busy place, staff work hard to keep things moving but possibly need one or two more to improve timings.

Inside bar wasn't open, but no signs to inform anyone so stood for a while before being told by barman to go to the outside one. Only one girl serving, so took a while to get a drink. Felt like the bar staff didn't really want to be there, very curt/blunt.

Went to see Joe Dove DJ on New Year's (best DJ in Brighton btw) and the Tempest was so good, great staff and a super cool venue it was a fantastic night will be coming again.

I love Tempest. It’s such a cool venue and feels like a nightclub in the cave. NYE party was so sick.

Really cool pub with an interior that look like caves. We visited on a very cold winter evening. Only gripe is it seemed really cold inside (we were sitting downstairs) so we didn't even take our coats off! Great staff and good choices of beers.
