Great steaks cooked to perfection delivered by a high quality service. Wine list could use some improvement in terms of choices but overall a great evening!

Was my very first time in your restaurant, I was amazed by your menu choices and style of service. We have been assisted by Alex, she gave us nice recommendations regarding the steak cuts and tacos which were delicious and went perfect with the wine. Complements to the chef! What started off nicely, really was quite disappointing. Although the staff are exceptionally lovely and efficient, the steak, which was supposed to be the highlight of the restaurant, was really not at all good. Way too chewy and seemed to be an end of the evening leftover cut. Also, clearing the table before everyone had finished is not at all acceptable when people are sharing dishes. Extremely loud place and we were in a both! Also, as it was close to 10pm on a Sunday, it seems we were one of 2 last tables and their interest in going home was palpable. Very disappointed and certainly would not recommend to anyone.

Meeting up with friends / ex colleagues today and we met at Temper City. Service was great from start to finish, have to say we were really looked after and the food was superb. We shared a small cow between 4 of us and one my friends made the comment “this is what Hawksmoor used to taste like”. Couldn’t agree more, the steak was beautifully cooked, and had a lovely taste to it. Congrats to the team at the restaurant today and would highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of being served by Beatrice at Temper restaurant, and I must say, she truly elevated our dining experience. The restaurant itself is a vibrant and lively place, with an open kitchen that adds an exciting element to the dining atmosphere. Beatrice's service was exceptional; she was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations. We tried the locally sourced steaks and tacos dishes, and they were all prepared to perfection. Her friendly demeanor and dedication to ensuring we had a great meal made our visit memorable. I highly recommend Temper restaurant and, specifically, the exceptional service of waitress Beatrice.

I will start with the good points, as there certainly were some - they were great in facilitating a walk-in group of 7 on a Wednesday evening, once we realised the ridiculousness of the size of the queue for LRDV opposite. We opted simply to have some bone-in ribeyes and porterhouses to share across the table, along with some sides - the food was nice and the servers estimation of what total weight would be suitable for our group was reasonably accurate. The main reason I have written this review is I think the handling of an issue we had was extremely poor, which turned a good experience into one that would mean i doubt anyone in our group would return. After ordering our food (circa £500 worth of steak), we received our drinks. The waiter managed to drop/spill a full pint of beer all over me (10%) and my colleague (90%), who was completely soaked, along with his mobile phone on the table. I appreciate it clearly wasn't intentional and mistakes happen, but the waiter, as well as the server for our table (after mopping it up), did not apologise once, or even really acknowledge that it had happened. When we asked for the bill, we were not asked how everything was, merely given the bill, with no amendments made at all. 15 seconds later they returned with the card machine. My colleague then went to discuss what had happened and asked what they would offer to compensate the fact his evening was ruined and his trousers and jumper were still sodden with beer - the offer of removing the voluntary service charge I thought was not appropriate. To avoid any further awkwardness, we paid and left. I feel the way the whole situation was dealt with was very poor - it was almost like they tried to pretend it didn't happen and just avoid the topic. They certainly made no attempt to try and rectify it. I would point out that the person who took our coats and sourced the table for us was lovely and welcoming.

Both steaks, porterhouse and ribeye were cooked to perfection, quality of meet was the best and the beef fat bernaise was the perfect sauce to go with it.

Its interesting to see a couple other recent reviews say their steaks were bland here - we ate here today as a small group and spent over £200 on their top steaks. The meat wasn't seasoned, totally bland to taste and cold when served. This place is a mile off the quality of Hawksmoor, Blacklock etc - probably why its hard to get a table at those places and yet you can walk in here! Some of the side were quite nice and service was generally good. Would we go back - no, for the same money much, much better options nearby for the same money.

What a nice place - and an interesting menu! With a giant grill/barbecue station in the centre of the restaurant there is plenty to enjoy while you anticipate your food The theme is sharing plates with a Tex/Mex accent. While you enjoy a pre-prandial Margherita nibble on some crispy pork bites - sublime chunks of slow cooked belly pork. We then enjoyed a range of truly delicious plates - soft shell crab tacos, pork tacos, lamb carnita, brisket of beef, mixed salad, thick cut chips with raclette and truffle and more. All were perfectly seasoned and nicely spiced. A good wine list, sensibly priced. Service was relaxed, friendly and attentive Recommended.

I love Temper - I went to the Shoreditch one with friends and then introduced my boyfriend to the City one (I’m so surprised it’s not more well known!) and then took all my family to the Soho one. The food is incredible - the pork rib, chicken dukha and cabbage are my personal favourites. The pork belly bites are divine! The cocktails are also really tasty and the wine selection is great. The atmosphere always feels buzzy without being too much. The service is always really quick and friendly in the city branch and the decor is lovely. I think Temper is Michelin material - especially the City branch. Keep it up team!

Love the Temper restaurants generally but have never had a steak at one until yesterday - will never have one again. The pork and pork bites were superb but the steaks - all 6 of them were stone cold and the quality of meat was terrible. The waitress tried ever so hard and the Manager was pretty apologetic afterwards but we would certainly not return if we were looking for a steak - it was interesting that this was the only 'steak' restaurant with availability on a Thursday evening. A real shame..
