Lovely old house with polite and helpful host. Restaurant on site. Rural location, no local shops in walking distance.

The rooms could be updated but there's no taking away from the charm of the place. The evening meal and breakfast were absolutely top notch. The overall experience was really great so well done to the staff and kitchen. Very good value too. Pity it's about to be redeveloped in a way. It will be difficult to replicate the experience and value unless the new operators are very careful.

Howards house hosted our wedding reception in November of 2020 and truly went above and beyond what we expected. With Covid restrictions changing we were forced to make a last minute change of date for both our wedding ceremony and reception. Despite being given 24 hours noticed Howards house pulled out all the stops to give us an incredible experience and a wedding day we will always treasure. The staff could not be faulted, being both professional and accommodating at every stage of the evening. The food and drink was exceptional and we were pleasantly surprised that we were still served almost all of the food options we had selected despite the last minute change of date. We had several rooms at the hotel for ourselves and members of the wedding party all of which were spacious and comfortable. The gardens and countryside around the hotel are really something special and well worth exploring. I couldn't recommend Howards house highly enough, whether it be for a meal and weekend away or a larger function. Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable.

Small hotel in a picturesque rural setting with a nice garden. The dinner was excellent. The room was not that nice and service at breakfast was on a low level.

The entrance can be a bit tight. But area is nice and peaceful plus the staff are really polite.

Wonderful views and charming place to stay for a relaxing holiday

My husband and I were given a present of a night's stay with breakfast and evening meal, we will be forever grateful, could not fault anything, lovely helpful staff, excellent food, great views from our spacious room, lovely gardens, we definitely want to go back.

A little gem tucked away in beautiful countryside. Very friendly and professional staff. Rooms a little bit tired compared to some other boutique hotels, hence the 4 stars. The real reason to stay is the fantastic food and the creative menu. Highly recommend and on this measure 5 stars!

A splendid place to hold a birthday lunch party. The food is excellent and the service is first class. The coach house makes a perfect venue for entertaining up to a dozen or so guests.

We had an excellent afternoon tea in the stunning garden at Howard's House Hotel. The waiting staff were friendly and the food was delicious.

Lovely secluded hotel, restaurant and garden in the south Wiltshire countryside.

Nice big rooms in the house with loads of history the chef is great the eggs Benedict were out of this world.

We stayed here for 3 nights last week. I think Howards House should be described as a restaurant with rooms, NOT an hotel. The food is first class, as are the wines. Our bedroom was so dated, in real need of updating. The lighting was dreadful, we could hardly read in the room. I had no bedside table or light, nowhere for my tea or water. The bathroom was so old fashioned it was laughable. A shower over an old bath, which took ages to adjust the temperature. Lots of piping hot water though! There are no public rooms for residents, no bar and no lounge. There is one room but it seems to be kept for non residents Teas. I can visualize the place in the summer, with no covid restrictions, but at the moment it is not really working as an hotel. This could be so much better, but please get the place refurbished and painted.

Hotel...beautiful. Grounds and location...lovely. Food ... not good at all. Dont try to offer fine dining when your team isn't capable!

Excellent cooking using quality ingredients, supported by a good wine and beer list. Recommended.

We've eaten here 6 or 7 times now and the food has always been wonderful. Perfectly relaxed and comfortable. Superb food in wonderful surroundings. Excellent value.

Lovely setting (nice outdoor space), impeccable service (attentive but relaxed enough to not make you feel uncomfortable), amazing food with produce from their gardens. Even managed to cater for my dairy allergies without notice. Had scallops for starters, lobster for mains, and then raspberry souffle with lychee and rose sorbet. Would love to go back.

Amazing food, would recommend the howard’s house hens egg and the guinea fowl. Was served by a lovely girl, Louisa I believe. Will definitely be coming again.

Hotel and gardens a beautiful. Staff lack enthusiasm and service is very slow

The place itself and staff are excellent. But we were very disappointed with the tasting menu dinner where, while the sauces were good, for the meat-based courses the meat itself was pretty tasteless. But the turbot was very good, as was the dessert.

Lovely location in Nice village. Good menu if Game-based. Quaint, pleasant staff. We've eaten there but never stayed.

Lovely food, beautifully cooked and presented, somewhere to go for a real treat. Wonderful historic house/ hotel in a picturesque English setting. If you have friends visiting from overseas then this place is a must to give them a real taste of England at its finest. I would recommend the scallops!

It was very tranquil, and out of the way. Very pretty gardens with water fountain, and a chilled environment. The scallops were just the right size for a starter, the bread really nice, and beef was cooked really well. The venison was tender and sweet. The sticky toffee pudding was very sweet, light, and lots of sauce. Gorgeous! The chocolate delice was AMAZING ! As was the creme brule. Really lovely place and a good find. The staff was really good sometimes drinks got forgot. And had to ask. But all in all. Very nice evening.

Very ordinary food and slow service. Two courses took 2 1/2 hours to arrive. I think perhaps they were understaffed, but that doesn't explain why the food was so average. At £28pp for two courses, it was overpriced.

Quite simply superb. In beautiful 'picture postcard' village there is a wonderful hotel which serves fabulous food, it's staff are willing to go to any lengths to ensure that their guests experience is as good as it can be. We will definitely be going back, we have found a hidden gem:-)

Great food and beautiful location. Much needed

The setting is lovely and a cute hotel. It is known for their food, but we stayed for 3 nights and the menu didn't change all week and only one vegetarian main available. Also we had 3 shooting party, one each night in the dine room. However the breakfast was absolutely lovely as the shooting party only stayed for dinner.

I had lunch at Howards House today and as always found the staff very attentive, the food seasonal and of excellent quality. The decor enchanting. I will go back of course!

We had dinner for sixteen here as a meeting of our monthly Diner's Club. Inevitably, we are very choosy and we report that our experience was a delight. We used the private dining facility in the renovated coach house. It is a charming and luxurious room, the food was exceptionally good and the service was unobtrusive but attentive. We recommend unreservedly. Thank you to Simon and Andy and the rest of the staff.

The restaurant is a hidden gem set in beautiful surroundings. If you want a special meal this is recommended. A selection of local but unusual food is available cooked to perfection. Excellent wine cellar.

me and my daughter stayed for a long weekend for a very sad occasion - a funeral and memorial service,. the staff couldn't have been kinder. we had lovely rooms and the kitchen staff coped with our gluten-free and pescatarian preferences admirably. the setting was beautiful too. thanks everyone.

Stunning, small, country house hotel with the best food in the area. All prepared on site with the freshest of local ingredients.They are open for lunch, afternoon tea (book in advance) and dinner.

What a gem of a rural idyll, quietly tucked away in this pretty village. My room was luxurious and looked out over the lovely garden and rolling countryside beyond. Fabulous food and great service as well. I am already looking forward to my next visit with friends in late Spring.

We couldn't have picked a lovelier place to spend our 10th wedding anniversary. Champagne and croquet on the lawn in the glorious evening sunshine with swifts sweeping overhead and the heady scent of blossom... Then in to a stunning dinner celebrating seasonal, local ingredients - many plucked from their very own beautifully managed gardens. Afterwards, we drifted upstairs to our tastefully decorated room, complete with 17thC mullion windows, Nespresso machine, White Company smellies and a view of dreamy Wiltshire meadows. I may have died and gone to heaven...perfect.

Stayed here on the night of our wedding. Came in very late that night and someone was waiting for us with a smile. Woke up the next morning and had a truly delicious breakfast (multiple options) before heading to Paris. Ate outside in the garden and had a quick walk around. Great way to recharge from our wedding the night before, will never forget our short but wonderful experience here.

A wonderful hotel in a lovely location. Food, accommodation and service all excellent. Would thoroughly recommend.
