Teddy T's Barry in The Vale of Glamorgan

Came in with my young son and ordered food and two drinks. When I paid the bill, I got the receipt and left. I checked the bill later on and the waiter had added on an almost £4 coffee for himself WITHOUT ASKING! He was a young guy. Could never recommend this place! Ever!

Nice place,but really bad service and low quality food.First of all the cook and waiters were disputing at high voice,in perfect view of customers.We asked for a gluten free oprìtion,which was not available. then we asced for the burger WITHOUT bread and it came WITH bread. there were only 5 customers in the room,,it should have been easy to remember it.Onion rings (we ran out,it was a busy day) Disappointing.

The diner was beautiful from a look. 50s all around and looked amazing. My partner and I decided to go here for my birthday to try something different but we will not be returning any time soon! We arrived about 12:00ish, and the place was dead, but we just thought it might be a bit early. No staff was visible. We took a seat in a booth, and we noticed it was filthy. The booth was full of crumbs and food, the table was sticky and it didn’t feel like it had been cleaned in days. Nevertheless we gave it a go. The staff when appeared weren’t very friendly, and were all in quite a bad mood. None of the booths were set up and no cutlery was laid out. Half of the menu was unavailable which we understood happens, so that was ok. However their burgers are between 7-10 pound, so we assumed that chips come with it, but when he asked, we were told we had to buy them separate. We weren’t given any cutlery and when we asked for some we were told they were still sorting it. My partner had the BBQ burger which was £8.15 which is a lot just for a burger on it’s own. I had the Highway1 which is chicken and it was £7.50. We then ordered two fries for on the side which was £3 each. The fries weren’t too badly priced and there was a lot of them however when they came, most of them were undercooked and still raw in the middle. We did think that the prices for the burgers was extremely high considering nothing came with them. The burgers were nice apart from the grease it sat in at the bottom. When my partner got up to pay the bill, he politely asked the woman if he could pay. The woman slammed the cup in her hand down, rolled her eyes and started tapping on the till. This made us feel really uncomfortable.The man in the kitchen was screaming at his staff as well which was echoing through the place. We had really high hopes for this place but after today we will never be returning. The prices are stupidly high, the staff are rude and unprofessional, and the place isn’t very clean.

Came here for food, ordered a burger with pickles and the burger arrived with no pickles, asked the waiter to have pickles and he had a stinking attitude, then asked the chef to change the burger which he then shouted at us how busy he was and offered to throw the food in the bin. We also ordered onion rings but didn’t receive them. The food was bland and prices were disgusting for the quality of food. DO NOT GO HERE

We recently took our nephew's to Barry Island for the day and the boys chose to eat lunch at Teddy Ts. The restaurant is an American diner with live music and quirky decor (seats look like cars, pictures of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe and replica cars). There is an outside seating area for when the weather is good. Children's meals (under 10 year old) cost £7.50 with a drink and ice cream. There was a good selection of meals and one nephew chose fish fingers and chips and the other had a burger and chips The adult menu was equally as good with a nice selection of starters (ribs, nachos, chicken wings etc), mains (pastas, steaks, burgers, hot dogs, salads, scampi etc) and desserts (waffles, cheese cake etc). From the menu I chose macaroni cheese for the main and the Rhode Island vanilla ice cream. My husband opted for the Highway 51 chicken burger and fries, followed by Mississippi mud pie (chocolate fudge cake) for dessert The food was nicely presented, arrived reasonably quick and tasted great. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. Before leaving the boys had a milk shake. After our meals we had a walk around Friars Point (grassed area above Barry Island Beach) and admired the views across the water.

Six of us called for a drink, the bill was over £53 I asked how much was my Gin & Tonic, £8. I have never paid that much for a G&T the next day we went to Weatherspoons, the same order was £26. And served in a Glass not plastic cups. We live locally but we will never go there again. It was a right rip off.

Went in as the decor looked appealing. And they were quite empty (I wonder why) Waited 20 minutes to order! Called someone who said I’ll be back in 2 mins, he never came back so asked another lady who said she would send someone over. Finally they took our order. Food arrived before any of our drinks ?? (Which I kept asking for) the bar was not manned to go & ask for them. The food arrived quickly but was of a very poor standard, it’s cheap greasy burger in a bun with fresh lettuce and a slice of tomato.No sort of sauce in the Luke warm burger either. Hot dog was a burnt sausage thrown in a bun without the onions I had asked for & cheap fries. Reminded server what drinks we ordered again. The only decent item was a waffle with cream, which I reminded the server a good few times we were waiting for. Then to pay, ignored at the counter by 2 staff then finally 1 finds the time to take our payment. I would never go here again the food is shocking and the place is to disorganised to get service. Avoid

Really enjoyed our trip here Read a few bad reviews around service but the lady who served us was really friendly and made a real fuss of the kids. Limited menu with only Burgers and Hot Dogs available but plenty of customisable options to go with that Well priced. Excellently decorated with a great theme. Kids loved sitting in the cars at the back, really made it special for them. Would definitely recommend and definitely return. Thanks so much

We ordered the chilli chips thinking them to be chips seasoned with chilli/paprika as it didn’t state in the menu otherwise, however we were shocked when a platter of chips were carelessly tossed in front of us topped with a dollop of chilli con carne that could only be described as looking like canned dog food. The fries were an artificial yellow, the burger meat was so processed that it seemed there was no meat content at all… and the hot dogs… well, they were just AWFUL on a complete another level. The staff had some major issues in understanding how to provide customer service let alone food that was edible. No greeting. No checkups. Nothing. On our journey home, my friend who consumed the hot dog was quick to regurgitate the worst meal he had ever had.

Large size burgers with small chips, not very tasty though, salad inside was fresh but waitress got our order mixed up, great atmosphere inside and in a great location

Only does burgers / hot dogs etc but always have a good meal there with great service. Hot dogs are very nice!

We decided to visit Barry for the 1st time. We came across this restaurant that looked nice from outside. it wasnt that busy considering it was school holidays and a glorious day. We should have gone with our instinct. We waited nearly an hour for a couple of cheeseburgers and some fries. No sign so went in to ask. Waitress said she remembered me ordering but chef just looked confused. 15 mins later food came out. Burgers were cheap and tasteless. Such a shame. Barry beach is lovely and clean. Go further down if you want better service.

Read the other recent reviews for this Diner. Our experience is encompassed by the "Terrible" reviews posted. They put Tartar Sauce with the Nachos instead of Sour Cream. When confronted with this they argued that it was Sour Cream even though 3 of us tasted it and confirmed it was. Don't go there,

I really should have guessed when the seafront and all other eating establishments were packed that an empty restaurant would probably be empty because it is dire. Lesson learnt. Waited about 5 minutes to be seated while the 3 staff chatted. Then another twenty minutes to place our order. 3 slushy drinks arrived all of which varied in size considerably with one of the cups barely half full. Asked for two of the drinks to be topped up to match the other one to be told "no". Serious inconsistencies in portion size. Waited patiently for the rest of the order of waffles and hot chocolate to be brought to the table. Another table of 7 people were seated and placed their order while we waited and eventually had to ask if the rest of our order was on its way. It then took all 3 waitresses to ask various questions before finally delivering the food and drinks another ten minutes later. To top it all off the card machine was set to charge £67 for our £20.90 order. As we were getting ready to leave one of the waitresses approached the table of 7 who had now been in the restaurant in excess of one hour, ordered their food , eaten it and had all of the plates cleared to ask them if they would like to order any food! In my opinion, avoid at all costs.

The customer service was lacking, waited 15 minutes before anyone came to our table to take an order. Paid separately so the food came out at completely different times and was incredibly plain and boring food. Average interior and alright drinks.
