Fantastic coffee at under £3. However, the food was a bit bland and seemed a bit overpriced based on the portion size. There are only 2 tables inside, as well, and the outside seating is quite unpleasant - rusted, wobbly and rather uncomfortable iron chairs and tables. Few bits and bobs available to purchase inside. There's a toilet in there too.

Excellent coffee - I had a decaf latte which is always a bit hit-and-miss but they nailed it. Very nice taste despite being pre-ground coffee from a tin, excellent strength (double shot, not too much milk), perfect milk texture (not too thick or thin), pretty good temperature, if a couple of degrees too hot. Lemon drizzle was tasty, lovely crunchy sugar coating, very slightly dry but not overly. Cute little shop, lots of nice deli food etc to buy, not masses of seating but more outside. Would definitely return/recommend.

Wish it was possible to give 6 stars !! I am a bit of a perfectionist and give reviews like this pretty rarely....but I have to say that everything we had from here, both to take away and the 3 times we visited, was exceptional; especially the sandwiches (we had gorgeous ham, smoked salmon and "breakfast" versions), quiches, home-baked croissants and cakes. They did us a fabulous picnic lunch to take away and we had breakfast outside in the sun with great coffee from Voyager. The deli goods, cheese and charcuterie selections are also highly recommended and the decor/vibe both outside and in was spot on. It was a pleasure dealing with Sam and she was really on the ball handling our lengthy takeaway and eat in orders. I hope you get more of the recognition that you richly deserve !!

We were staying in Noss Mayo and decided on a Sunday that it would nice to have a traditional Devon Cream Tea. On Google it said these tearooms were open, so we trekked all the way round to the tearooms up and down the hills (as the tide was in) and when we got there, there was a handwritten sign saying it was closed due to holidays. We were worn out and disappointed by then. We ask that you please remember to keep your opening times updated on Google, so you dont send potential customers on a wasted trip.

Used to come here once or twice a year. Liked the old fashioned homely quirkiness of the Tea Room. Knew it had changed hands and that there were some disappointed comments. No point rehearsing why we loved the old furnishings, accessories and style, because anyone who came in those days knew the formula and it's unique appeal. All I can say is that the new version, in an effort to freshen and modernise seems to have made it mundane and dull. The wall hangings, the flat cushions and the plain light walls, together with the routine predictable cakes and the ubiquitous panini etc just make the place very very ordinary. We live in Plymouth. We come to the village and the river because of good friends and because we do some day boat racing. There is insufficient reason to come back to the new version of the Tea Room. Like another reviewer I think the name should be changed because it is a different business and experience. They could call it the Yealm Cafe or Bisro.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Came in about a month ago with local friends. We were preoccupied and didn't take too much notice of what was going on. Seemed OK as before. Back this week and am now quite worried that the old tea rooms are being irrevocably changed without sufficient regard for what made decades of happy enthusiastic customers come back and back. It is now clear that there are new owners with a very different approach. Most of the food and laid back, eccentric but very traditional country tea room feel has gone completely. I was tempted to score it poor or terrible but realise that my own dismay and memories are not necessarily relevant to people using Tripadvisor to find new places for them. I accept that people retire, move on and that fresh blood comes with new ideas and approaches, and that times change, styles and trends evolve or jolt forward. Almost everything I liked about the Tea Room on the Green seems to have gone. It is being turned into A N Other tea and cake place with extra meals tagged on and delusions of grandeur in the evenings. If the new management wanted to introduce a restaurant to the Newton side of the estuary they should have started afresh maybe with a new name and or new premises. All very disappointing. But let's not carry this a stage too far too quickly. My cousin who lives along the road has promised to give it a regular try and report back. Meanwhile do not rely on the long run of historical enthusiastic Tripadvisor reviews which very definitely refer to the old rather than the new business.

site_logo

Has changed hands but business continues a bit like before. It used to be very laid back and slightly eccentric but ticked all the boxes for a more traditional tea room in a world where tea and cake shops have been popping up all over but without a feel for now they ought to be. This place still feels like the preferred trad style place but we are a bit concerned that it is changing its ambience in an unnecessarily starchy way. We came to one of the early evening sessions only to be confronted by a slightly snooty bunch of other customers, suits, blazers, ties etc. if that's the direction of travel then we will be giving the place a miss.
