A hidden gem in London! This cosy spot offers a quintessential English experience with delicious food and a warm ambiance. Relax by the fireplace with a book or enjoy board games while savoring your English Breakfast or amazing scones. A must-try, perfect for those seeking an authentic and charming tea room experience.

I was with a friend and we ordered a pot of tea for two, scones with clotted cream and jam. I asked for the bill and was shocked to see we were charged £20.25. I asked the assistant if there was a mistake. But no. Grossly overpriced for what we had. A return visit? I don't think so.

Waited 25 minutes to be served. Ordered two teas and after another 20 minutes we left as they hadn’t arrived. £16 for two mugs of tea very poor experience. Walked round the corner to the Vauxhall city farm , such a wonderful cafe and experience.

This place looks lovely, the cakes are tasty. But that’s about it. The staff was not very friendly, i think they were under staffed, but still, having basic manners doesn’t hurt. Very slow service as well. It’s very overpriced! The cake was good, but the iced pink tea for 6£ could have been an asda juice to be fair. Very unlikely to go back.

This was a quirky place that failed to live up to our expectations. We visited for lunch. On the plus side, the cakes looked delicious and the Indian chai was as tasty as any we’ve had on the subcontinent. On the downside, our cutlery was dirty, our server was unsmiling and the whole place was grungy. They offer a discount for cash payments but didn’t have enough change so we ended up paying extra. Our food — a double-decker sandwich and a salad — was tasty but I would recommend you to go elsewhere.

We were in the area and pretty hungry. We decided to give this place a go as it looked nice from the outside. Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. My friend ordered eggs and soldiers, the eggs arrived boiled and not at all runny. The breakfast and chocolate milkshake I ordered were just fine, I wasn’t a huge fan of the toast and I don’t understand why so much of the milkshake was on the saucer. We both left disappointed.

This place has so much potential. Lovely cosy atmosphere with inviting looking 'home cooked' cakes on every table. As a tea lover this was a dream. However...the young girl with dark hair working there gave us the most unwelcoming 'vibe' ...no smile or welcome greeting. Had to move tables as the music was too loud and I asked for it to be turned down, was told by the young lad working behind the counter that the owner likes it at a certain level!! Ok...had breakfast which wasnt too bad. The service was pretty average though and there were three people in the whole place. Thought we would give it another go for dinner as we were staying nearby. Having travelled for three months throughout the entire UK and Europe, I would have to rate this as the WORST service I have encountered on our trip. It doesnt even deserve one star but you can't do anything less. Two customers at one table and the same three staff members when we walked around 10 to 6pm. Again, very unwelcoming, particularly by the young dark hair waitress. Was told they do table service. Had to sit outside due to music being too loud again. Not one staff member came out to ask our order. Had to go in to order. Didn't have the tomato soup as they had 'run out of tomatoes', asked for water and ice...had to remind them. Hubby had the shepherd pie which was tough and dry and inedible. Absolutely worst experience of dining in the UK. Such a shame as it has a lovely cosy atmosphere. Some chairs look like they need a bit of TLC and are past their use by date. What a shame for our last night in the UK. Would recommend anywhere else...the pub on the corner that Tay Tay is singing about. I never really leave reviews but this is pathetic. Replace your staff or have a staff PD on customer service!!! Or some common courtesy. Don't bother replying to this with some sugary sentiment. Just do better for others who come to this establishment.

Gorgeous little spot for an amazing breakfast and a pot of tea! Came here on a whim to start our day and didn't regret it, it's in the middle of a nice little grass area and close to Vauxhall Station too! Only downsides were the radio station being a bit drab for first thing in the morning and them not opening right at the advertised time! But other than that, it was a gorgeous little start to the day!

The cake was also exceptional. The Nuttelaa strawberry cake was amazing, safe to say it was the best cake I have ever had. Each of us ordered a pot of tea and a cake. The ambiance also very homy

Wonderful venue with a nice interior and plenty of character. Very friendly staff. Food was excellent quality, generous portions and the tea was served in traditional English tea cups. One pot contained about 6 cups of tea! Great experience overall. We plan on going back soon to see one of their plays and have dinner.

We came across this quirky little venue mid afternoon, on our trip to the capital. Went in with the intention of sampling one of their breakfasts, served until six pm. We were welcomed by a young man who showed us to a table, saying he would return to take our order. We never saw him again(he disappeared behind a theatrical screen to work on his laptop). We waited, as other parties arrived and were served. We waited, having decided on the tasty sounding Scottish breakfast, and Coronation Tea, last chance to sample in Coronation year. However despite trying to catch the eye of the sparse staff, we failed to have our order taken. I went to use the bathroom, pausing on the way to mention to the waitress that we had been waiting a fair while for our order to be taken. Unfortunately, even after using the bathroom, still no-one had come to attend to us. We waited a few more minutes, then decided to leave. Bit of a shame as we'd got our taste buds round a good meal. We'll try another day. Found a great meal at the ever reliable Crypt at St. Martin in the Fields.

We loved the Tea House Theater. We had a breakfast and a dinner there. The traditional English breakfast has an enormous serving of everything you would expect: eggs, beans, grilled tomatoes, black pudding, sausages, ham, potatoes, toast. The tea is wonderful. Dinner was also very tasty and the cream tea was delicious. Highly recommend.

Nice decor and probably good for tea and cake. The Scottish and Ulster breakfasts were large and varied with good quality ingredients, unfortunately it was all dried and overcooked as must have been kept warm for a long time. The steak and kidney pie dinner was inedible. Steak gristly, no kidney, soggy pastry, dried potatoes, raw broccoli and lumpy gravy that was almost solid.

This cafe insisted on charging me a NON REFUNDABLE £50 FEE just to book a table for a tea party for 15. I completely understand a "no-show" charge - not charged or taken off the bill when you get there, but this is a SURCHARGE for taking guests to their cafe. Outrageous! I've never come across such a thing before. By the time this was clarified it was too late to cancel - despite the fact they had overlooked my reservation into the evening - and cancelled that at short notice as they had decided to host a show! Rude. Service was chaotic and incredibly slow - it was busy, but it's hardly a complex menu, and they got in a muddle with the bills. I let them know in advance (in writing) that we would be ordering prosecco - they ran out after 2 bottles and tried to upsell very expensive English sparkling wine. We ordered some white wine - none was chilled! The scones / cream tea is good, but the afternoon tea stack is very disappointing, with poor little sandwiches and dull miniature cakes. The staff are disorganised and so run off their feet, and they don't seem to have any proper management - and with a couple of exceptions, were sullen. No wonder. It's a shame because it's a great venue and it's quirky decor etc makes it unique. It just seems to be really badly run. Despite all that - we had a fun time, because you can always have a good time with good friends and make the best of a chaotic situation - not one we will forget.

We used to come here quite often but only managed to return since last year. The team has changed since then, and unfortunately, so has the service and for the worse. The waitresses mean of communication was shouting across the room which I thought was extremely unprofessional especially as they had customers. Unless you were ordering cake or tea, the food would take longer than it should do to arrive. I work in hospitality myself and understand the kitchen may be short staff hence the delay in food. However, the wait staff could at least update their customers as courtesy instead of being more occupied chitchatting behind the counter. Extremely disappointed with what this place has become.

I’m really sad to have to write this review as I am a regular customer to the Tea House Theatre! Unfortunately, I won’t be going back for a number of reasons: Firstly, we waited on a table full of dirty plates to order our drinks and food which took almost an hour to come. We ordered an ice tea which was just hot tea poured over ice and, therefore, was warm. We then changed this for an orange juice and was told they would not remove the ice tea from the bill. They also tried to charge us for extra baked beans which we did not receive. The manager was extremely rude when we were trying to settle the bill and told us she ‘didn’t have time for this’. Such a shame, very poor service and treatment of customers. I am happy to take down this review and talk to the owner instead as I think the Tea House Theatre is a great and quirky cafe and have had good experiences there in the past. I appreciate they are currently short staffed and busy but I don’t think it’s an excuse to be very rude to customers.

I've lived in the area for 10 years, have only been to this place twice. I really want to like it, as its an independent and quirky. Gave the place a second chance this weekend and unfortunately nothing has changed. £10 for a single slice...

We had a lovely lunch here and delicious tea. My son has just had an operation which restricts what he can eat and the staff were so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to...

Potentially a great place but very expensive and very slow service. A local lady informed us that the owners have a lovely dog which they keep locked up 24hrs a day which is extremely cruel as we could hear the poor thing barking. All in...

I've visited the tea rooms before but had forgotten what an oasis of comfy bliss and charm this place is. Delicious food, a dizzying array of teas and cakes, all complimented by snug seating and board games.

We went to this tea house for lunch. The food was good with an interesting selection of teas. Service was a bit slow but the place was very busy so I can forgive them for that. I would certainly go there again if I was...

I thought after a pretty poor performance I would try giving the tea house a second chance. A dear friend of mine was leaving to return back to Australia and I thought it would be a nice surprise to bring her to the tea rooms...

We went on Mother's day for a late afternoon hot drink and cake as recommended by our Vauxhall guide. We had three hot chocolates, one chocolate brownie cake and two slices of banana cake. The table was dirty. The banana cake was dry. The hot...

We stopped in after a nice walk around the neighbourhood as we wanted a pudding after lunch. It's quirky, with a resident cat and bric-a-brac scattered all over. The tea menu is 4 or 5 pages, with an incredible variety of green, black and herbals...

I really wanted to like this place as I like quirky, independent cafes. Location was great, first impressions were good. My meal however was not good - dry and tasteless and poorly presented - which was a shame and as I was with friends I...

If shabby is good this is your place. How we escaped without tummy infections is beyond belief. Had to send my first cup of tea back as the mug didn’t look as though it’d been washed from the last four visitors. Replace had a huge...

In a sense one star is unfair of me, but my shock at the attitude of the owner & manager completely ruined my experience of this large but quaint tea room. The cake & tea, though expensive, were excellent. The staff were friendly enough. The...
