Tea house on the loch kindly hosted a breakfast club for ex service men/ women. This was great day meeting up and chatting with old and new friends. We were warmly welcomed by Susan and Grant who own the Tea house. The soup, filled rolls and strawberry tarts were delicious. This event we were told will be hosted on the first Monday of every month. Even tho it was not expected by us, it was a lovely gesture to be told all costs were coved by the tea house. A big warm thank you to Susan and Grant for arranging this for us. It was greatly appreciated.

Have visited many times over the years and keep coming back even though we have moved out of the area. Staff are so welcoming, we always feel like we are coming home. Treated to a lovely afternoon tea by my husband and toddler for Mother’s Day and like everything else I’ve had here it was delicious! (Have had many a fry up here over the years and can also recommend!) Sandra wonderful with our shy wee boy, and even though usually a fussy eater, Samuel finished off his soup today too! Thumbs up from him! Have included a pic of food from previous visit plus today’s lunch! Dog friends are welcome here too which is brilliant for when my parents visit! Thanks again to Susan and the team for another wonderful eating experience in this beautiful scenic spot.

Our eldest son was staying with family for the weekend, so the remainder of the family left in Glasgow ventured out for a Saturday lunch. Situated on Lochend Road, just west off the A752 at Johnston Loch, this was a quaint little cabin overlooking the water. We arrived around 2pm but thankfully found a table inside, without the need to pre-book it. A high chair was provided for our youngest and the staff were polite, throughout our visit. My wife chose a Tuna Panini and Coke while I opted for the special (a Sourdough open Sandwich with a New York BBQ style topping) and Cappuccino. Although the Sourdough Bread was a tad soggy, we actually didn’t have too many complaints. A bit slow to come out but the food was tasty and the price was reasonable. I’d definitely class this as a hidden gem, given our difficulty in finding the road leading to its car park. Undoubtedly one for the Bread lovers and those who seek a break from the urban climate!

Great selection of fillings and cakes alongside a great lunch menu and lovely tea and coffees. Sandra was an absolute gem, so lovely and super friendly. Gorgeous setting in a little cabin with a beautiful view of the loch. We will definitely returning to try the breakfast menu next time as that also sounded absolutely amazing☺️

Thanks to susan and her team for the most amazing festive afternoon tea . This included a choice of 3 homemade soups or smoked salmon with cream cheese served on sour dough bread, followed by Brie with fig and balsamic chutney and turkey and cranberry sandwiches then we had Belgium chocolate caramel cake, raspberry tarts, toffee nut latte and a mint hot chocolate and cream. It was so cozy and Christmasy with the wood burning stove and the beautiful tree.

Stumbled across this wee gem of a place 3 weeks ago, we have booked every Sunday for brekkie since. Hidden wee cabin next to a loch surrounded in mature trees and a giant deck. Cosy inside with log burning stove . Menu is easily read and brilliant choice, you can tell they use quality produce and it’s cooked to perfection. Great vibe inside and dog friendly . Servers are super friendly our server is chatty quick witted and makes you feel like you’ve known here for years. I personal love this . I would recommend everyone to try this place. But there again be a shame to see it over popular. But that’s me being selfish . Love this place and thank you for making us feel super welcome . It’s our new place to go Barry

We have been regular visitors here for over 11 years and have watched the place evolve during that time.As with all places during these strange times booking is essential with social distancing in place and the fact THoTL is popular.Today though my wife and I just turned up and whilst busy, the friendly staff found us a table in the entrance area which was perfect as it benefits dual aspect glazing over the Loch.We opted for soup and a sandwich deal which was hot, tasty and very enjoyable. Having seen one or two cakes being served we shared a slice of apple pie & cream washed down, with a cup of tea. There were a couple of our four legged friends in as well who are well catered for, assuming they behave !!Over the years we have got to know Susan and her team of Sandra, Lynn, Denise (not working today) along with all of the other faces we know but cannot put a name too.We can only recommend a visit (closed Wednesdays) for lunch, brunch or afternoon tea..... We ❤ it

Due to the current Covid restrictions My wife and I arranged to meet two friends at this cafe on Sunday past. My friend booked a table for breakfast and we were looking forward to meeting them and sharing a meal together. I had never been to this cafe before but has passed it many times as we live locally. On arrival it looked really great. A nice wooden structure in an ideal setting. Stepping out of the car was disappointed to see a neatly wrapped bag of dog poo sitting in the car park. on entering the building we were met by two large dogs and their owners siting just inside the front door. we made our way inside the main part of the cafe and met another large bulldog . I have no problems with dogs in cafes as long as they are well behaved and these dogs were no problem at all. We were told that our table was in the corner and made our way there. It was pretty dull in the corner although not far from us was a lovely view of the loch. After a couple of minutes the waitress came over with a pad and pen and said 'what are you wanting", and we explained that we had booked for breakfast she muttered something about nobody told her about that and went off returning seconds later with the menu. we were again abruptly asked what we wanted. Her attitude was quite offputting and far from welcoming. We made our choices and off she went. In a matter of a few minutes she returned with Tea and coffee and seconds later three of our orders. we waited a while and the last order arrived. The last order was a vegetarian breakfast and looked quite appetising and freshly cooked. The first three breakfasts were neither appetising nor freshly cooked. I had a cooked breakfast consisting of Sausage, beans, bacon, egg, potato scone and a slice of toast. The waitress did tell me that the plate was" very hot" as she placed it into my hands. It was fairly hot, but the contents were not. The beans were in a separate little dish and were stone cold, the remainder of the dish was was lukewarm at best it was almost as if they were getting what little heat they had from the Plate. The food had obviously been reheated or had sat for some time on a hotplate. The sausage was dry and hard underneath as was the egg which was burned underneath and around the edges, the potato scone was the same. The bacon was like leather and was really tough and totally inedible. The plate containing the food was also wet. The toast was cold and hard but I cannot complain about that as that is how I like my toast. At one point there was a loud noise in the cafe for a minute or so, like a loud drilling sound which stopped all conversation by the diners and when it stopped someone from a nearby table jokingly said its ok I think they were just slicing more bacon. We ate what we could and were in no mood to get into a debate with the curt waitress so said nothing. We enjoyed the rest of the time we were allotted together chatting. I did go to the toilet at the end of the meal and when I put on the light in the toilet I was pleasantly surprised to see my surroundings. The wooden structure was really bright and welcoming more so than cafe itself. I should point out that the vegetarian dish was enjoyed by our friend and I believe that was because it was cooked for her on ordering unlike the other meals. I believe had the rest of us been given fresh meals it would have been an enjoyable day despite the waitress (we are all prone to an off day) However, the Tearoom really dropped the ball on this occasion and left us disappointed and with an actual bad taste in our mouths. We had hoped that this would have been an ideal place to meet regularly particularly during the current restrictions, as it is local but beautiful surroundings and great location let down badly on this occassion by the food.

The menu had a great selection or sandwiches, panini, wraps, salads, baked potatoes and soup. And there was the option of a soup sandwich combination. My friend and I both had the lentil soup and a sandwich combination. I had tuna and onion and she had cheese. With a soft drink each the bill came to £16.40. Have visited a couple of times and the food has always been lovely and very good value. The staff are the very friendly, attentive and a credit to the owners.I would definitely advise anyone to book if looking to visit at lunchtimes. My concern with the tea house is that there are no real baby changing facilities, there is an old changing mat to be laid on the disabled toilet floor!! Now I always have a changing mat in the diaper bag but I refuse to get on my knees on a dirty toilet floor with my infant. I had to resort to taking my baby out to the car and change her in the car in January! It is far too cold for this. As a result, it is unlikely I will be back until warmer weather but I doubt it. Changing tables are very cheap, I can’t believe that they aren’t mandatory in a place selling food. It’s a shame as the absence of an inexpensive item is keeping customers awayThe Tea House on the loch is very dog friendly so you can take your canine friend along, just don’t take your babies with them.

We took my mum yesterday for an afternoon tea. My mum being 77 and with dementia its difficult taking her out and getting her seen to. Anyway my sister and i both recommended the tea house as my husband and I have been going for years and, as you will see from an earlier review I made, we loved the place. BUT yesterday. Huge disappointment. We got the afternoon tea. its arrived looking just lovely until my niece noticed the fruit scones. The menu does not mention FRUIT it jsut says scones, and to be honest as fruit are more expensive to make we thought it will be plain scones. It wasnt it was fruit, Mum chokes on these so we decided not to give her one obviously. But my niece has a slight allergy to raisons etc so we asked if they could substitute the fruit ones for plain. The girl came over with 2 lovely plain scones but advised us we would have to pay. We were all slightly taken aback by this as it was a swap, well we thought it was lol we were wrong. So my niece said just to leave them. They werent full size scones just small ones and to be asked to pay for them we felt was an embarasment to the owners and we then decided to get our bill and leave. The other cakes were ok, but we never ate them and decided to take them home in a doogy bag for later as we were all really disappointed and saddened. As I said my husband and I visit every other Sunday as its dog friendly and have never had a bad experience so were sad that for a regular we got this bad atmosphere and customer care wasnt great. So we wrapped the other cakes up and my great niece whose only 2 had a few of them. My poor mum didnt know what was wrong so we though get her out quick. We were approached then to say they would not expwect us to pay the bill, which was a very generous offer and we thanked them for that before leaving. We would have paid but as they offered this as goodwill we kindly accepted. We did tell them we would be doing a trip advisor review, so they will be aware of this. I know we will get a reply, as Ive since read other reviews and the replies from the owner and expertly worded...pat on the back to them for that. They seem to get out of any situation with good words....fair play to them. Sadly after many years of visiting and recommending the place, i cant see us going back for a long time or if again ever. I would give them a bit advice and say pn your menu for afternoon tea think about advertising the scones as fruit ones. I know before i submit this, the reply will say you shuld have made us aware of any allergies.. yes we maybe should have but we didnt think fruit scones was what would be on the plate, so we put our hands up to that and say yes we maybe should have. Its sad yous lost a probably £25 - £30 bill for the sake of not exchanging 2 wee tiny fruit scones to plain ones...what happened to the customer is always right ....anyway i type this will no anger and just wanted to lighllight this to other people.

Absolutely nothing I can fault. I've been here many times & the staff fall over backwards to make folks feel not only welcome - but that they each really matter. I've watched them engage with tricky customers with great kindness & grace (they excell with a compassionate welcome to those with special needs too) - doing everything possible to make every experience a good one. The food is more like you'd get at a big money place, everything is fresh - from tuna toasties with fabby salads with balsamic dressing to glorious gluten free coffee cake (my fave!) - also extended selection of vegetarian & vegan options (including CAKE!). It's dog friendly with a designated area & the same full table service they give to all other customers. The recent addition of a purpose built function suite is amazing - what a space for folks wanting a unique wedding (not me unless Tom Elllis suddenly finds his bahookie available - unlikely but I live in hope). There's also tables outside on a huge decking area overlooking the loch - I'd wholly recommend them for functions. I love coming here, it feels like I'm visiting family it's just so friendly!!

Wonderful location, sense of adventure and something different. Was quite busy, great buzz, and started well. We sat, ordered, attentive. Served our meals and drinks. Salad on three of our plates was two uncut leaves of lettuce a cherry tomatoe halfed. We never got any service after this AT ALL. No one asked if food okay, nothing. The young lad polished cutlery. The older lady with dark hair ignored me from my seat twice, INCLUDING eye contact, RUDE! We wanted tea and cakes. Both mum and I went to the counter neither the lad or lady asked to help. Mum got upset as she is old school and painfully polite and shy. I sat at table between 2.40 and 3.25 my three guests left and went to car. Nothing. Not even cleared table. So, no cake or drink sales for you eh!

Only suggestion I would make is to get a card machine rather than all cash transactions. Most people don’t carry cash these day so would make things easier for yourselves and the customer. Will definitely be back again soon.

I came here with my family for mothers day, altho very busy the staff were more than friendly and food was delicious, can see why you have to book in advance as it is a busy little place but definitely worth it.

Was here with family as a few surprises for mother’s day, was very disappointed. We had paid £20 each. The soup and starters were lovely, but the afternoon tea was a let down, there was only 1 choice of filling for the sandwich half a scone with jam already on it and some of our party did not like jam and cream together, half a small bite size meringue and a shortbread biscuit drizzle with icing. There was not even a table ready for the size of party with us. Was very disappointed, think there could be more Variety for that kind of tea.

My partner and myself tend to go every weekend either for a spot of lunch or breakfast after my nightshift. Food is always lovely and fresh, and cakes are always the perfect end. But of course the number 1 thing about here is the staff they are always friendly welcoming and always go above and beyond for the customer especially denise and sandra at front of house

Went here for Sunday breakfast, after being at Drumpellier Park. To access it, you go up a dirt road, past a couple of houses. There is a (very small) garden centre there too, but was closed when we were there (think it's only open certain times of the year?). When you first enter, there is a lobby/conservatory type area, which is where, I think people who bring dogs with them, will sit. We were shown into the main dining area, which has a wood burning stove, and art on the walls, which is for sale. The view out the window is lovely; overlooking the Loch. There is a decking area too. The staff are lovely, and the food came out fast - and yes, it was freshly cooked. We can't fault it. We had the Scottish breakfast, which (despite being a fry up), wasn't greasy. With the breakfast you get a drink of your choice. I chose tea, which comes in a tea pot, with a cup. You get 3 cups of tea out of that pot. Butter and jam are also provided, for the toast. Will definitely be returning.

We just love the tea house. My hubby and I go most Sundays before he heads back down South to work. Our wee dog Kora is so used to it now and always gets a treat. We love the food. The black pudding on toast with different toppings is amazing. Staff always happy to see you ...just love it :)

Amazing wee jewel in Gartcosh, stunning views over the Loch. Had a wonderful afternoon tea: best French onion soup with croutons and melted mozzarella, smoked salmon/cream cheese malted brown sandwiches, scone and cakes, pot of tea, couldn't eat the cakes, offered a doggie bag! Brilliant food, lovely venue and excellent service, you gotta try it!

Our favourite place to meet up and put the world to rights. We tend to go outwith the busy lunch period as that suits us. Staff are amazing and accommodating, food freshly prepared to order with homemade soup piping hot and sandwiches properly filled. We have sat in the front porch/conservatory on many occasions and with the double doors open into the main seating area the warmth of the woodburner filters through. Dogs are most welcome to be in here which is much better than leaving them locked in the car. And they get a treat.

Went on a Friday lunch, not having booked. Initially given a table in the "lobby" area which was fine, but then offered a table in the main part which was warm and comfortable. (Personally I couldn't be bothered to move but wife would like to live in a sauna!!) The food was simple, basic, tasty, and very cheap! The location is fantastic. I had the chilli, wife had the baked potato. Staff were friendly and helpful. Perfect place for a light lunch, at prices you won't believe!!!!!

Went here today for lunch , we hadn’t booked so we were seated in conservatory and not in the warm main restaurant. So we had to keep fleeces and jackets on to keep warm. We asked why no heating we were told they let dogs into the conservatory so no heating ( if I was a dog I think it would be cold). The meals themselves were lovely and fresh though. My recommendation is to book unless you’re a dog.

Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Visited here with my dog and we both had a great time, he was welcomed with a treat and a bowl of water and I was welcomed with a tea. Customers were also very friendly and the location is absolutely beautiful with the loch on show throughout the full tea room. Thank you for an amazing visit I will definitely be back.

Had lunch here today & what a lovely surprise to find a gem of a place in a beautiful location. There where plenty of glute free choices & Frank who served us said if we wanted anything off the menu it could possibly be altered to be gluten free. So only had to ask & they would happily try to accommodate (such a refreshing change) they also have a lot of vegan clients.

A group of friends and myself booked in for afternoon tea. The Tea House staff gave us a warm welcome. It has a beautiful view over the Loch. The waiting staff were immaculate and very friendly and so helpful. The menu was varied with a wide selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones, teas and coffees to choose from. Afternoon tea was absolutely delicious! The Tea House is extremely dog friendly which is just wonderful! I can highly recommend the Tea House and I’ll definitely be returning in the near future.

My wife and i dropped in last Sunday morning. Road in is a disgrace and your insurance will not cover damage on this private road. We got breakfast wraps that included scrambled eggs , crispy bacon and beans. Eggs and beans had been microwaved to an inedible heat and the bacon was full of fat and not crispy. The lot was served on a 6 inch side dish that made it so yard to eat. Also its cash only which is a pain as its in the middle of nowhere and it 2018.

Stunning weather today so the hubby and l decided to have lunch at the tea house on the loch as it has a beautiful outside area to eat. As soon as we sat down the staff were over with a menu and offering us water, they let us browse the menu for a couple of minutes then came and took our order. The food came quick and was so delicious, if the hubby could have got away with licking his plate clean he would have. The prices are really good the choice of food is fantastic and the staff were professional and so helpful. This is a little gem of a place and well worth a visit. Ps while there a regular customer was having lunch with friends and the staff found out it was her birthday, they all went to the table with a candle in one of their delicious cakes and sang happy birthday, Now that’s the personal touches l look for and appreciate. Well done to all the staff and management the hubby and l throughly enjoyed our lunch and will definitely be back. Jillian and Brian Morris x

Have visited this place a few times over the past couple of years and have never had any complaints. My most recent visit last week was rather disappointing. My friend and I phoned to book a table and were looking forward to our catch up lunch as we hadn't seen each other for a while. First of all, our server put menus on the table and before we had even had a chance to look at it we were asked what we wanted. My friend then went to toilet and there was no loo roll in the ladies toilet but this was quickly corrected when we informed a member of staff. My friend ordered a baked potato with Salmon & salad but asked for no coleslaw or crisps and as I had previously had on other visits the soup & sandwich, I opted for the Deluxe version. Our food arrived promptly my "DELUXE" version of the soup & sandwich was disappointing as the soup bowl was like a tea cup sized bowl although the soup itself was fine, the filling on the sandwiches was very sparse. This Deluxe version came with Salad, crisps & coleslaw, there was around 3-4 crisps and the salad could only be described as a garnish, we actually laughed out loud when it came to the coleslaw as it was in a dish that was so small I couldn't even use my fork, I had to use the tea spoon on the table to scoop out two tea spoonfuls of coleslaw. This to me is not a Deluxe Lunch. My friends baked potato was microwaved and served in a soup bowl on a plate with the salmon which was fine, also on the plate was the salad and as before it was more of a garnish than a salad, as i had ordered. The salad had a few tiny pieces lettuce and cucumber and a quarter of a tomato, overall extremely disappointing.

Although the official opening time was listed as 1000hrs, a quick telephone call confirmed we could arrive from 0945hrs which was helpful. What an amazing place which avoided the peril of motorway services. Breakfast was great - a toasted muffin with scrambled egg and salmon for my colleague and a breakfast wrap for me.

Hard to say but the food here is so lacking, the venue is full of classy surroundings and settings (conveniently close to home) but the food is just lazy. The starters was prawns..just over done and full of smoked paprika, mines was belly pork, just far too fatty in proportion to eat, accompanied by just cubed black pudding?? lazy. The mains to keep it short was dry chicken, smelly monk fish and tough so much that could be fixed. Im holding back as I do love the rest of the place.
