Absolutely love this restaurant, the atmosphere is amazing, the staff are friendly and extremely helpful and the biggest take away is the food…OMG. The food is beyond tasty, from the starters through to the main courses, everything was delicious and you can tell it’s cooked freshly. Their grills are cooked to perfection and the wine… Georgian wine is probably my favourite now. I will definitely be going back and recommending to everyone I know. Truly a remarkable restaurant and a gem of North London. 5 star restaurant easily!

Was very disappointed today. The website says it is working until 11pm, where we came today around 9.45pm to discover that it is closed and owners are sitting in front of windows, having food. Could at least amend the working hours, made 30 min trip for absolutely nothing and it is Saturday night.

I am an American who has been to many Georgian restaurants in my life, having even traveled to Tbilisi, Georgia twice. I can say that the khinkali at this restaurant in London are the best I have ever had. The salt and pepper seasoning on top of them was incredible. Highly recommend. Prices are reasonable for London and the service was very friendly.

The food was awful: the beetroot and spinach probably came from a jar, the salad did not have any dressing, the bread was dry, and the desserts were cheaply prepared... Bad value for money! A disgrace for Georgian cooking... Better go to Amsterdam or Vienna for excellent Georgian cooking, or even better, the Georgian capital Tbilisi itself!

Somewhat disappointed by the food here. My friend and I had the khachapuri, Satsivi and Chkmeruli. We thought the khachapuri bread was the boat-shaped bread with eggs on top but it turned out more like a quesadilla or a round bread with stuffed cheese. The bread was a bit greasy and not particularly flavourful. Also, the menu says that the chkmeruli comes with a "garlic or walnut sauce" but note that you dont get to choose a garlic or walnut sauce. You only get a garlic *and* walnut sauce which was very oily and the overpowering garlic taste meant that I could not taste the walnut at all. The satsivi was pretty interesting but very salty. Probably wouldn't come back again.

This restaurant could be so much better than it currently is. The food needs some attention but is edible and quite tasty. The chicken liver starter was literally a bowl of chicken liver accompanied by a few onion pieces and pomegranate seeds. Neither of these additions were relevant to the dish served. The Blinis as spring rolls were better, but overcooked. Mains of Lamb in Tarragon was impacted by too much tarragon which seriously impacted on the overall flavour of the dish. The lamb with aubergine was better balanced. Atmosphere was lacking as we were the only diners for much of the evening. However, it was the service that was dreadful. One woman who was hostile from the start to the end of the dinner. Truly the most unfriendly service I've experienced. 😔 😔

Having been all over Georgia a few years back from Batumi to Tblisi and falling in love with the food and wine (Georgia has a claim to being amongst the original wine makers), finding this lovely restaurant serving proper Georgian food, was a very happy moment. The decor is old school, the prices are cheap for London (not for Georgia), but the food is by far the best Georgian I’ve found in London. The staff are really friendly and are more than happy to talk about the food and offer suggestions for the table. For a drink I would recommend trying the chacha, the Georgian national spirit, which is made from grape pomace (a part of the product of the wine making process) and goes very well with Georgian meal. Georgian lemonade is tarragon flavoured and bright green, and is also a great addition and Georgian wine is very full bodied and quite different from other wines. Think a mellower Cabernet Sauvignon. The Acharuli Khachapuri (boat shaped bread with cheese and egg) is a must have and a crowd pleaser. Georgian salad is so simple, with just roughly chopped tomato and cucumber, but the walnut sauce makes it really tasty! If you go any grilled meats, make sure to ask for Tkemali sauce (green if available). In the pictures you can see two chicken dishes (Satsivi and Shkmeruli), liver with mushrooms and pomegranate and a beef stew for which I can’t remember the name. There’s a lot more on offer, with very walnut and aubergine rich dishes. I would highly recommend if you like you like very comforting and tasty food.

Food writer Jonathan Nunn had written about this place and I had it saved for a really long time and finally got a chance to try it! This is definitely a hidden gem! Absolutely delicious food made with the freshest ingredients! We started with the Badrijani and Khachapuri. My husband normally can't stand eggplants but I was really eager to try this dish. However, he enjoyed it so much he ate half of it!! Can't really go wrong with bread filled with cheese and I highly highly recommend this! For the main course we ordered the Satsivi. This chicken dish had the most incredible sauce and was very flavorful and really just called for some bread to mop it up with. However it was served with a rice cauliflower dish which just had an off-putting texture for us. It was a little more dense than I had imagined and I thought it was going to be more fluffy like cauliflower rice. We also ordered the lamb stew called Chakapuli. This one was served with a salad and some bread. Lamb was soft and succulent. The broth was incredibly herbaceous and very comforting on a cold day. Highly recommend! We didn't get any dessert on this visit but I do hope they offer more traditional baked Georgian goods cuz I would love to try those. The service was quick and the restaurant was incredibly clean and warm and inviting. Definitely going to come back!

7 people dined on a Saturday evening in March so there was a wide array of food. I like the idea of eating typical indigenous food so for my first course I selected the "ispanakhi" which is a steamed spinach puree served with walnuts, herbs garlic and vinegar and costing £8. It was a cold dish but rather pleasant which defied me having muscles like Popeye. My main course was "chanacki" which consists of lamb, aubergine, potato, onions, tomatoes and herbs served as a stew with a distinct hint of paprika which came with bread costing £15.95. There was a feeling of a Hungarian influence in this meal but well worth the experience. Our choice of wine was Chateau Mukhrani Queuri 2018 Georgian at 13.5% volume. I recommend this red wine as it went well with the meal and had a smooth taste. I gave it 7/10. N.B. All wines are of Georgian origin with a distinct French feeling. The dessert I chose was something I have never tried before. Again it was typical Georgian called "pelamushi" but consisted of it being a pudding with grape juice topped with walnuts. (They must like walnuts in Georgia). I don't know what to make of this pudding, it tasted so different but did me no harm. £5.95 if you want to make your own opinion. Overall a thoroughly pleasant evening, fairly full but the 2 waitresses were busy which made service a little slow. 2 small toilets at the back of the restaurant but a good selection of all Georgian wines.

2nd Georgian restaurant I've been to in the UK (been to several others in Finland and Russia) and can say the quality of the food is as good as any other I've been to. Very tasty (except for the Dil....but that's a personal preference). The food was very tasty and well cooked. The cheesy bread with an egg was not to my taste since it was with soft cheese / cottage cheese (but I understand this is traditional in Georgia) rather then normal cheese, but again that's a personal preference rather than any criticism. It was still tasty. The only minor criticism is the interior lacked atmosphere. Having said that, the restaurant was full and they were having to turn people away who didn't have a reservation.

I ate here recently on a Saturday evening with a friend. There's a good range of Georgian dishes on the menu, and the prices are reasonable. The khachapuri starter was good, but they brought the main courses before we'd even eaten half of the starters, and didn't seem at all bothered by that. And those main courses were overcooked, with not very much meat. We've eaten here many times over the years, but that'll be the last time. We enjoyed our first taste of Georgian food at Tbilisi restaurant. The badrijani (aubergine) starter was very good, but I would definitely recommend a bread to go with it - in our case the acharuli khachapuri (flatbread with cheese and egg) was the highlight of the meal. For our mains my partner had the chakapuli (lamb with tarragon) and I the satsivi (chicken in walnut sauce.) They were quite pleasant but perhaps not perfectly to our taste - we are not used to Georgian food, of course. They were both served hot but in very cold bowls so within a short time the food was also cold. Although I have since read that satsivi literally means "cold dish" and is usually served cold, I must say that I didn't find it particularly appetising once it had cooled down. The side of pureed rice was a good accompaniment but I found the salad rather too salty - again, this may be where my taste differs from the typical Georgian palate. For drinks my partner enjoyed a glass of the Saperavi red wine - very fruity - and we each tried a Georgian lemonade. The pear flavour was delicious and the tarragon flavour certainly interesting and a lovely bright green! Finally I had a slice of a delicious moist cake with honey and walnuts. Overall we enjoyed our first foray into Georgian food and would definitely come back again - as long as the bowls are warmed next time! PS - the prices on the website looked to good to be true, and they are - expect to pay £1-3 more per item than the prices shown online at the moment.

This is probably the first time I am writing a bad review but stuff in this restaurant did everything to do this. I have always liked Georgian food, so as usual, I wasn't surprised that food was really nice here. This was the first and last time I visited this place (I won't make same mistake twice). Waiter didn't show any manners during whole evening, she was rude and not polite. But what happened after the dinner is just no telling. When 2 of my friends joined us at our table she just let us know that we have to leave. She neither provided us with somewhat reasonable explanation for this, not tell us what we did something wrong. She even didn't ask us to leave, she just let us know that we have to leave. Essentially she just kicked us out. Official explanation for this nonsense was that she should have been notified that someone is going to join us. Note that restaurant was almost empty (in whole second room only our table was occupied). From her words "you are not my customers". I still can't get how waiter of the restaurant can pronouns these words.. Don't know why she did this, because my friends joined us without asking her to take them to the table? or because she didn't like someone from us? she just kicked us out. We were told that this is the policy of the restaurant, that's it. The most absurd in this history for me is that waiter tells me strictly that I'm not her customer.. Who was I? A member of their stuff? or a dog that entered her place by mistake? I must admit that she was right on this, I can't be a customer of a place that have stuff like her. Very disappointed, will never go back to this place, even if It's my last chance to go out with friends.

This is a genuine Georgian experience. Served my mother and daughter, the decor is homely. The bread with an egg, cheese and butter which you mix up is delicious and the hot bread creates perfect scrambled egg when you mix it. The griddled aubergine with walnut paste was soft and tasty, the spicy liver also set us up. We order 4 mains and shared, but 3 would have been enough. Choose between stews and grills. We are a stews family because we love ‘sauces’ and the lamb with tarragon was succulent and different. We also had a lovely trout. The square tables are perfect for a conversation for 3 or 4. This must have been the quietest restaurant on Holloway Road an hour and a half before an Arsenal home game (we came here because the pizza restaurant we fancied hadn’t re-opened after the Christmas break). I am unfamiliar with Georgian food but this was genuinely something a bit different. A starter of aubergines and then spicy meatballs with potatoes and salad reminded me of Turkish cuisine but well spiced making me think a bit of Indian food. The red wine I’d describe as rustic but fairly pleasant. Decent quality, although hardly a bargain comparing to the competition up and down Holloway Road, but worth a visit if you fancy something different.

I don't get to try Georgian food often, and albeit I can't vouch for the genuineness of "Tblisi", I can definitely say that what they serve here is both intriguing and delicious. The starters are particularly exceptional, and I could probably have a full meal based on them alone. The mains are equally good, although we did not get to enjoy them as much, because the starters were so plentiful that we were too full by the time we got to the mains. Still, the cuisine is subtly spiced, so that all the flavours in the food can be tasted, well cooked and well presented; the wine list is full of unconventional options, and the staff are attentive and polite. All in all, a very interesting dining option for those around Highbury.

We've eaten here a few times over the past 9 years and never been disappointed. Georgian food is perhaps the most exotic and most loved cuisine from among the former Soviet republics. Several Russian-speaking tables reminded me of this. The starters are fresh, light, and plentiful. I recommend the shared starters, as you get more or less 3 for the price of two. The beetroot salad and grilled aubergines are really very nice. The bean-filled flatbread is a meal in itself - a good starter for 3 or 4 people to share. Don't miss the Georgian wines, which are always a hit. The mains on the most recent occasion were perhaps slightly less generous than I remember a few years ago, but on the plus side we didn't risk exploding as we strode out wine-happy and warmly satisfied into the springtime North London air. Two meals with starters and a bottle of wine for under £60 is pretty good these days as more and more trendy restaurants creep onto this stretch of Holloway Road. I sympathised with the lone waitress who clearly did not expect to be as busy on a Friday night as she was, yet she remained gracious under pressure, and even managed to crack a half smile.

Great home cooking. We would recommend mixed starters. The bread stuffed with cheese was great, but left us, erm, stuffed. It's all really tasty and a great mix of culinary genres. And the house red us damn good. Friendly service and decent value for London.

Our first visit, a very friendly welcome, good suggestions for starters and a wonderful flavour in the dishes.Tried the Georgian red wine- full bodied and like an Australian shiraz. The chicken liver starter was very tasty, my main course sausage was powerful ( and garlicky), the lamb stew was delicious and nicely scented. This is delicious food of the people!

This was our first taste of Georgian food, we were very impressed. The waitress was extremely helpful. We shared a starter of chicken livers and mushroom which was very tasty. I had a perfectly grilled trout and my husband was very happy with his meatballs. The restaurant is beautifully decorated - it inspired me to rethink our decor at home. This is a family run place which I would highly recommend. We will be back. On the evening we visited, we had to pay in cash. This may be the norm, but the cost wasvery reasonable.

Two friends and I visited this restaurant 7pm on Friday before we went to a comedy show. We were the first guests and we were served professionally and attentively. The food was outstanding. I had salmon skewers with pomegranate dressing. The salmon was a very generous portion and deliciously marinaded. It was served with a generous portion of potatoes, mushrooms and other vegetables. I will be returning.

My husband and I visited this restaurant last week for a meal out. The staff were very friendly and gave us a seat by the window even though we had not booked in advance and brought us a vase for the flowers. We both love georgian food very much and instantly ordered the khachapuri which was very tasty. We also ordered two different lamb dishes from the main menu which sounded delicious from the description. Unfortunately they both turned out to be soups which was completely unexpected as nothing in the menu implied that they were soups! Both dishes were very tasty (although both of them had a bit too much coriander) but I was a bit disappointed as I was not in the mood for soup. Other than the misleading menu I would recommend this restaurant, just make sure to ask the waiter about what you ordering first!

Before coming to this restaurant, I wouldn't have known what sort of tastes and flavours Georgian cuisine would bring to the palate and indeed plate! The restaurant had a very homely atmosphere as did the food when brought out to us. I had a delicious garlic chicken dish and my boyfriend had chicken in walnut sauce( we soon realised that Georgian cuisine is very much entwined with walnuts!). The desserts were equally as rich and lovely. Would definitely like to visit again and try more of what looked like a very varied menu!

I had only a basic knowledge of the cuisine but the lady put me at ease and guided me around the menu ensuring I could order a selection of dishes to my taste. We also ordered a superb bottle of Georgian wine to accompany the meal (sadly I forget which one). Overall a pleasing and welcome fixture on the Holloway Road and I shall certainly return. My only gripe is that the prices were perhaps a little too high to make this a regular option, but as the occasional treat it is perfect. I would also suggest they hire one extra server to assist during busier times.

Great aubergine dishes, lovely liver and mushroom starter, and the chicken with walnut main was delicious, as was the aubergine and lamb dish. The red wine was perfectly good for the price. Generally we had a great evening, and the staff were lovely and very flexible in accommodating a late guest. It's not fancy cuisine, but it has great heart and flavour. I'm going to see if I can find a recipe for the chicken/walnut dish! I love that restaurants like this exist in london where you can try new dishes and the owners are so passionate about their food - more of the same please.

I ate here on a Saturday evening with a group of friends (I've eaten here several times before). There's a good range of options for starters and main courses, all quite reasonably priced. There's also a wide range of Georgian wines. The food is good and the service is OK (could be a little more attentive at times, but it's not really a problem). The restaurant never seems to be full, even on a Friday or Saturday evening, but that didn't bother us. Everyone enjoyed the meal, so I'm sure that I'll be coming back at some point in the future.

If you like Georgian food or want to try it, this place is very good value. Their Georgian wines are nice and not expensive. The beef and lamb dishes are very good and so is the aubergine. You will have enough for lunch the next day!Only complaint is that the khinkali (giant dumplings) have pork in them. It would be great if they could offer ones with just beef or lamb for customers who don't eat pork.

I had wanted to acquaint my daughters with one of my favourites dishes - Chanakhi (I grew up in the Soviet Union and loved that delicious georgian dish). I had chosen the restaurant 'Tbilisi' because of its convenient location. We ordered Hatchapuri with Lobio as a starter and Chanakhi as a main course. Unfortunately, me and daughters got very disappointed with a quality of those dishes: the Hatchapuri were not cooked properly (the flour was a little bit raw), the Lobio was tasteless and so-called Chanakhi barely resembled the nice, unforgettable taste of the delicious Chanakhi I used to eat in the Soviet Union. I was frustrated, our night out got ruined.

I've been to the place twice. The interior may look a bit dark and unattractive, but the food is amazing! We had khachapuri (a fresh baked pastry with cheese), different starters: stuffed aubergines, specially prepared and mixed with spices beetroot and spinach. For main we took chicken tabaka, hinkali (Georgian dumplings), lamb. Everything was delicious with mild authentic taste that is different from other cousines you can find in London. Georgian wines are 'must try', I loved Kindzmarauli. The menu prices are very much affordable and quality of the food is like home made. If the place were better located they would have queues.

I was surprised as it all went absolutly great....I would not expect that from a small restaurant. staff was absolutely friendly, food was delicious (never tried anything like that before, georgian food is just superb) atmosphere was soooo warm , so cosy. It was very busy but service was fast and outstanding. i even met the owner of the restaurant a very lovely lady, who invited us for few drinks. i saw few negative comments here, it is shame, as it really does worth going there and trying the whole georgian experience. i would highly recommend it if you are looking for delicious food and great fun

I hadn't tried Georgian food before and it was very good. Starters were meze style, mostly vegetarian, and very imaginative and tasty. Main courses were mainly meat/stew based (although there was a vegetarian option ordered by one of our party that looked very nice). The lamb with tarragon that I ordered as a main was nice but a bit basic. The starters were the highlight (don't just go for a main!). Service was a bit shambolic although very friendly - some difficulties getting tap water twice and glasses (we ordered wine too so not unreasonable to ask for tap water!).

As my nephew has visited Tbilisi, as in the Georgian city and has recommended Georgian food we headed here for a small family celebration. It was very quiet but the atmosphere was friendly. The wine was delicious, the food was quite good, not the best I have ever eaten but quite tasty and decent portion sizes. I would recommend it on that basis. The starters were the best, and we did think we would probably order more of those and skip a main course if we went again - take a sort of Georgian tapas approach.

having already eaten in some georgian restaurants in russia we fell for this cuisine. once we found out there was a georgian restaurant also in london, we headed straight for it. however, this time we were rather disappointed. to start with the service was incredibly slow. there was only a cold, distant, sleepy midde-aged lady who reminded us of the typical unsmiling, gloomy faces seen in eastern europe. a sort of girl friday who works as a waitress, cashier and probably as a cook herself as she often diasappeared in the kitchen leaving the customers unattended. (a french couple sitting next to our table waited nearly for fifteen minutes without being greeted as the lady had gone missing). well, the food was quite good, probably not as great as what we had in st petersburg, but it was ok. the hatchapuri (cheese-filled bread) was edible but below par, the badrijani (fried aubergines with walnuts and onion) was instead absolutely gorgeous. too bad the portion was not that big, though. the main courses (khinkali, chashushuli and chanaki) were all ok but nothing to get excited about. the saperavi wine was ok but the room temperature green lemonade was just undrinkable. when i asked for the bill (rather illegible as it was hand-written) i had to wait for about ten more minutes and did not notice that she had overcharged us. she made me pay for four mains despite ordering three as there were only the three of us. too bad i noticed this when i had already left the place. dosvidanya tbilisi! you won't see us anymore!

Went here after my brother picked this restaurant out after eating Georgian food in Moscow and other Eastern European cities. The food was delicious and made to order. The Khachapuri was the star starter with the Chashushuli a worthy main course.Would have been good to have had some Georgian beers on the menu but the Georgian lemonade is well worth a try if only to see the bright green colour. The service was relaxed and although there was a wait for the food it was worth it and we were in no hurry.Well worth a visit if you fancy something a bit different.

My husband and I chose this restaurant after having been to Georgian restaurants in both Moscow and Kiev. We went with family and were very happy with the overall experience. We didn't book as it was a Monday night however it did get pretty busy later on! The menu was good, we chose the khacha puri for starter which was delicious - it was so big that we asked if we could take some home with us! I ordered the chicken in a walnut sauce which was delicious, it was served with ghomi which was a little bland for me but my husband loved it with his spicy beef stew. We were too full for dessert! The range of drinks was ok, it would have been good to see some Georgian beers rather than stella and peroni. The Georgian red wine was nice though and the traditional Georgian lemonade was fascinating as it was bright green! Service was fine, we were not in a rush so it added to a steady evening. The waitress was polite and helpful. The décor was clean and modern, All in all we would definitely recommend if you are wanting to taste authentic Georgian food.

I had heard some friends talking about this restaurant and I decided to take my boyfriend there as we hadn't tried georgian food before. The website looked really poor, but as a vegetarian, I made sure I was gonna have enough options. We were very surprised finding the place completely empty, the waitress was on her own and we had to wait for the food for about half an hour, but didn't regrette. Everything was very tasty and we really loved the wine, it's a shame that places like this are not very busy...
