Chips are absolutely awful. Was great wen it opened but now I'd rather not get there chips. They gone right down hill. 2 of my friends have stopped using the chip shop now. I thought I'd get chips and do sausage beans etc. At home. here but chips ruined dinner. No stars from me. Sorry but I won't be coming back it's 3rd time now. Thought it was a dodgy lot of potatoes but it seams they just chucking new in with the old. Waste of a chip.shop

Mel made our fish and chips experience extraordinary. He went above and beyond to provide a great first fish and chips experience for my out of town friend and made us feel so comfortable sitting it for dinner. Not to mention the delicious sticky toffee pudding for dessert! The store had a steady revolving door of people coming in that seemed to be regulars and I can see why! Would definitely recommend

The food is really nice and staff are friendly, but be prepared to wait as food can take up to 10-15 mins to be cooked.

I’m on a trip to London from the US and stopped by Chippy on the Corner because I hadn’t tried fish and chips yet. I absolutely loved the taste of my dish. The Cod melted in my mouth and the chips were delicious! This by far is the best meal I have had so far in my stay in London! Thank you Chef for the wonderful meal.

Fish was great, although some bones were present, but the chips were awful. Looked like they’d been in the fryer for a while.

All the staff was so friendly that we felt very welcome at „The Chippy on the Corner“! The regular fish’n chips portion is more than enough! It tasted great with the tartare sauce (free top-up). Creative vegetarian options offered. We spent £55 (incl. service) for 4 people there. Will certainly come back when in London again!

Take out fish and chips on a number of occasions, stopped going here because the cod portion has become smaller and quite a few chips had rotten ends.

I wanted a small portion of chips yesterday and i went in to ask lady in counter. Hannah was very efficient, as well as dealing with another customer outside. Her attitude and professionalism has made my day. It was really refreshing. The chips were delicious and did not taste of any oil. It was light and not greasy. I would definitely say it is a good place for the community as well.

IGNORE ALL NEGATIVE comments! For those of us, who have been living in Islington since 1960 and have watched the demise, of our local chip shops, cafes to American junk food outlets or pretentious artisan bakeries and coffee houses. Chippy on The Corner, is a most welcomed and desperately needed place. The fish is fresh, fried in the most delicious and crispy batter, same with the chips, in hot sizzling oil WITHOUT the greasy side effects. Portions are large and value for money, whatever your budget. I have dined in the shop and had home delivery, many times. Always quality food and the sticky toffee pudding with hot custard, is a wonderful ending to a meal. Add this place to your weekly or monthly culinary treat, as unlike other places in Islington, you don't need to take out a mortgage to eat here.

So busy with deliveroo and just eat the place was in turmoil…… Even though I phoned and placed my order for collection still had to wait nearly 20 minutes this was our Favourite chippy to go to…….. however will not be returning. Chips smashed up and soggy, fish mediocre, sausage in batter poor quality and batter anemic in colour They are letting themselves down swapping quality for quantity And adding insult to injury our order was incorrect we asked for large cod n chips and large sausage in batter n chips and curry sauce ( which was very very lumpy These were not large portions but regular. Shame! quality and service is being effected we think our order was given to deliveroo in error When we phoned back the manger was to occupied to listen and suggested we go back for exchange we leave 20 minute walk so no way was we going back.

I don't remember when this place opened up - I think over a year ago at this point. Anyway, the food is absolutely delicious and everyone in the neighborhood goes here pretty often. The first time I went, I ended up going back two more times that same week! (Then I had to start limiting myself). I always order the chicken goujons with chips and a side of curry sauce. I am absolutely addicted to the curry sauce. The battered sausage is delicious too. I really need to try more of the menu - I'm just so obsessed with the chicken + curry sauce combination. The chips are delicious. Perfectly cooked every time. And they give you lots of chips. I am always completely satisfied when I get food from here. Usually I just get take-away, but they have indoor and outdoor seating. It is quite nice to sit down and eat here, as you can order a bottle of wine or prosecco with your meal! A friend and I went for lunch this past Saturday and had a lovely time. Additionally, the service is always very friendly. If you live in the neighborhood, this should definitely be your go-to chip shop. The food is delicious and never disappointing. And if you are just in the area and need a place to eat, this is definitely the best option.

Lovely to see a classic chip shop, great staff there too but those prices are criminal, I'd argue the prices go beyond reflecting the cost of living crisis, its 8pounds plus for a sausage in batter, reg chips and some curry sauce. I wouldn't mind if the portions reflected the price, but they don't.

Best fish and chips in the area. I find it hard to find decent fish and chips in London but this place knows what they are doing. Huge portion sizes, reasonable price and quick service. Never eaten in but pretty standard chip shop with few tables. Is a bit hot in there for me but it was summer time.

Well...having driven past this Chippy for some time, I finally got around to going there. I asked a lady outside if the chips were any good.....and she replied very confidently that they were very good. When I asked how often she eats there, she told me "I'm here every day......I'm the owner!" Well, what can I say, really good chippy, fantastic service by the girl behind the counter and it was very clean indeed! Prices are good as well and this Chippy gets my vote and without a doubt I'll be back!

Some of the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. The recipe for chips and batter have been updated in the past few weeks. Flavour of the chips have really an improved refined taste which make you want to go back for more. The food is always fresh and batter for the fish and sausages is now crispier with better flavour. Highly recommended.

Quite expensive in comparison to other chip shops that mandatorily serve with tartare sauce mushy peas and a lemon wedge. May return when the cost of living is more forgiving.

OK, let's be HONEST here! The food is good and the place is bright, clean and yes they are friendly... my only issue, the cost of some items-not saying what, but expect to pay over the odds compared to other chippy's, but again, the food is Excellent, so if your fussy about your food, and want good food, no better place to be honest. 5 Stars Deffo.

Literally the best chip shop I’ve found. Great quality food, you can taste it’s made with passion. The prices are affordable. Trust me once you go here you won’t go anywhere else.

Mediocre food neither great nor poor Atmosphere not bad neither good Staff... The youngsters who have served me have always been polite but the other staff are not-so-polite and could definitely use a brush up on their customer service! At the end of the day it is simply an average chippy on the corner as their name suggests! :-)

It’s so clean it gleams. I love this little place on this little corner. I am a fussy person so I go in to a chip shop I look first. But this one you don’t have to as you come in you see it. Also the young lady who serves is a little sweetheart. Friendly and clean. Not to expensive either.

I heard a lot about this place so thought I'd try it out. They gave a seating area inside which is great as not a lot of chippys have seating areas. They have a great selection of food on offer, so you won't be short of things to choose. It's a no brainer ti go for cod and chips, it was very good. You even get a free juice with your meal. They offer a treat portion of calamari which is also very nice. The staff made us feel as if we were in a restaurant and laid out cutlery for us, that was a very nice touch. High recommend this chippy, looking foward to eating here again.

Food was fresh and not too greasy, good portions, the service was incredibly friendly and efficient, it was a clean restaurant— one of my best chippy experiences yet!

Visiting from the States and it was my first proper plate of fish and chips. I wish I took photos. The portions were great. The service was excellent the staff was supper friendly. And it food was tasty.

The fish and chips is amazing. Chips are the perfect consistency, nice and fluffy. The fish is fresh and the batter nice and light. Curry sauce is homemade.

I went here for the second time yesterday. I initially went back as I had such a positive experience the first time I had went. However, yesterday the guy who was serving didn't even acknowledge me. It was only until the lady with red hair popped in, from her break that I received good customer service. The guy looked fed up and just pointed to the salt and vinegar when I had asked for it. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the lady who came in from her break was so lovely!
