We went for an anniversary dinner and opted for a 5 course vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairing. We enjoy food tastings and were fortunate enough to try several michelin starred restaurants. Unfortunately, we had a poor experience. First course was a dish that was oversalted to the point it was barely edible, and it was served with a gin&tonic in a wine pairing - a little odd choice of pairing and mix of spritis in a tasting menu. What followed didnt really impress us either. All the dishes were unbalanced - the fish dish was very sour and paired with a poorly chosen wine which again aggravated the sour taste of the dish. Unfortunately, this was the theme of pretty much all the courses - disappointing food and mismatched wine pairings. The staff was friendly, but busy on a Friday night and did not ask once whether we enjoyed the dishes (we werent able to pass any feedback, e.g. about the salty first course for instance) and did not really do much besides explaining a few words about the dishes, or read the name of the wine. We had to wait several minutes just to close the bill despite trying our best to get the servers attention Overall I would not recommend, and look elsewhere and get a far better experience from food, wine pairing and service standpoint

Great Sunday lunch. Wasn’t a huge fan of the ginger beer for what it’s worth. There’s normally some heat to ginger beer but it was very bland. It’s not theirs tbf, but the brand they use isn’t great ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Came for the 8-course tasting menu, lovely cosy interior of the restaurant. The menu itself was gorgeous, a nice balance of rich and subtle dishes, with some amazing twists thrown in! Particularly loved the jamaican jerk chicken, corn fritter/scotch bonnet jam and accompanied by a lovely mango martini.

Came to celebrate an anniversary meal and was disappointed by the decor and general rundown atmosphere. We were squeezed unto the back area, which got really stuffy. Food was in small portions, and they were very heavy and salty. I found it strange that they had to upsell the extra fried chicken if it was an 8 course menu and glad we didn't as food quality was poor. I should have known when the first course was a buttered toast. The only palatable dish was the vegetarian third course. The meat version (with the liver) left me feeling ill. Whilst some courses looked pretty, the taste was really salty and disappointing, When we thought it was finally over with the strawberry trifle, we realised it was one more course - the brioche. It was drenched in butter/oil, and the melted cheese was the final nail in the coffin. Unfortunately, there was no wifi / internet connection to distract us from it all, and the toilets were filthy and smelly. Drinks were bland. Never again, extremely disappointed.

Worst restaurant experience! :( First thought was - oh, this restaurant looks shabbier than I expected. If the food is good it won’t matter though… Spoiler alert, it wasn’t. The cocktails were watery and flavourless and tasted like Rubicon. We looked over at the bar and found out the reason why - they use Sainsbury’s own lemon juice and carton juice for their cocktails 😭 At this price point? Unacceptable. Chain restaurants serve better cocktails than this. I’m pretty sure Simmon’s cocktails are nicer than this! There was nothing special about the food and it was absolutely not worth it. There was not a single dish I particularly enjoyed. We ended up cutting the 8 course taster menu short because we were not enjoying it and couldn’t see it getting any better. At this price point I would expect everything to be tasty, if not amazing. Unfortunately none of it was amazing, or even tasty to be honest. I think the food was average at best WITHOUT considering the price. So we ended up paying over £100 (discounted even!) for two shitty cocktails and I think I had about 5 bites of food… (not an exaggeration, I had 3 pieces of chicken, 1 piece of mackerel and 1 gnocchi) I’m eating cereal at home as I write this review. The cherry on top is that the service is incredibly slow! We were there for two hours and had 4 courses. Please go anywhere else in London for a meal and do not waste your money :)

Luke-warm Sunday Roast, lots of veg but spot the meat. Came for the sharing roast. The food on the plate was tepid, and relied on the hot gravy to warm it up. Disappointed after reading other reviews. I was offered for it to be warmed but then all of the sides would have been cold. Nothing special. I would not recommend this especially when you consider value for money. £32 per head for 1 small slice of beef, a lot more places in Islington doing a better job of a good roast.

This restaurant has an interesting policy for customers coming with babies. We booked a table for two via OpenTable and left a message that we will come with our baby in his bassinet. They said that we should have booked a table for three, which I never experienced before, and we had to cancel the booking at the last minute because they cannot accommodate the bassinet. If you are planning to come with a small baby, please book a table for the additional person who will not eat their food anyway.

I’ve been meaning to come here for a while and am sad to say it was an utter and absolute disappointment. We had the 8 course menu (without pairing) and while all the dishes looked pretty, nothing on the menu tasted even remotely nice (except maybe the strawberry trifle, which was only palatable) - it was all too heavy and stodgy... and this is for a menu that was 70% fish?! Service was perhaps the only redeemable thing about the whole experience. All in all, I’d say save yourself £200+ worth of disappointment and eat literally anywhere else on the high street.

Oh dear. What a letdown. I tried to find something I liked here, but from the eight courses, the sparkling water was the best thing, aside from the attentive and friendly staff of course. Every dish was as pretty as a picture, but I found each course heavier than the last. What looked yummy on paper was barely pleasant-tasting, and sadly, I only managed to finish three of the eight courses, one of which was a strawberry trifle that was somehow still stodgy. I hope to return for a different menu, but it will be a while before I can get rid of the cream and truffle taste in my mouth. In the meantime, I’ll maybe save myself £240 and try somewhere else local, ignoring the suspiciously pink chicken.

I know food is very subjective but I just didn't find this tasty. The only part I enjoyed was the cheese first course. I am a vegetarian and I felt the veggie options were not well thought out. We chose the 5 course tasting menu but didn’t take the wine flight option. We also added a portion of the Jamaican Jerk Chicken. 12:51 gave us a marmite and soda bread dish whilst the meal was being prepared. Hurrah, it wasn’t sourdough. The bread was warm and the marmite paste toned down the full on marmite taste. Even for a non-marmite eater like myself, this was quite pleasant. The Jamaican Jerk Chicken was crisp but the Scotch bonnet jam was quite spicy. If you don’t like hot food, stay clear. I didn’t enjoy the savoury truffle pudding. I just can’t see the fuss made about truffles. Vastly expensive and tastes like sweaty socks. The cured and torched mackerel was postage stamp size. There were too many flavoured toppings on this fish, almost not enough room for all of them. Chilled courgette soup, cured Chalk Stream trout was a delight. Great colour and texture. A little bit of showmanship in the presentation but not overboard. Slow braised and curried mutton ragu; I could have eaten this dish only, not bothered with the others and gone home content. The star of the show. But wait; we finished with the English strawberry trifle. Maybe this was the star, out doing the ragu. No, on second thoughts, the trifle had strawberry pieces on top which were poor and ruined the texture. Scrape them off and just eat the rest. Would I go again; probably not. I am just not a tasting menu type of person. There are usually one or two courses that I wouldn’t normally choose so I am eating them just because I’ve paid for them. Service 8/10 Food 7/10 Ambience 7/10

Some elements of the menu were delicious and some good but not great. The jerk chicken was a good addition to the 5 course tasting menu but made it alot of food. The bread was good and the marmite butter excellent. The courgette soup was beautiful and the taste was brilliant. The mackerel was very good too. Less impressive was the dish we called " spicy mince"...slow braised lamb..tasty, a bit too hot for me but the presentation was not great. The strawberry desert was good. The wine, and we just had a couple of glasses, was delicious. So an expensive but not outrageous meal, which with a tweak or two could be brilliant all round. We enjoyed our visit the service was friendly and efficient.

When the word on the street says that the Sunday lunch at 12:51 by Chef James Cochran is the best in London, that word is true. What a great Sunday lunch, what an experience. The food was amazing and the attentive service by the dining room team was the right compliment. I cannot wait to go back and enjoy a tasting menu this time. P.S. the only critique goes to the cheese course on the dessert list which we felt was not clearly described on the menu as we were under the impression that the cheese was going to be served with some brioche, jam and walnut and not melted on the brioche . Worst Sunday roast ever. Booked the table having read positive, but outdated reviews on the Sunday roast. First warning sign was that they don’t have coffee or tea…e we had to go across the road to Gail’s to get a coffee and bring it back in while waiting for the food! Waited 45 mins for half the lunch to come out and then waited a further few minutes for the other half so we could get started. The food was barely warm and it came with one teeny tiny serving of gravy. Since the roast was all pretty bland it definitely needed the gravy and as two people it wasn’t enough to even cover the potatoes. We asked for some more which took about 10 mins to arrive. Food was cold. They tried to add the charge of £6.50 for the ‘extra’ gravy?! No check back on table or at end of meal. Strange meal experience. Won’t be returning & by looks of other recent reviews it doesn’t seem to be what it apparently once was. P.s other review is correct it is looking a bit run down too.

Two months ago, I booked a table for a Sunday Roast at 12:51. I had high expectations, but I was also a bit suspicious as I tend to be with those hyped places in general. Three days before our reservation, I received a text from the restaurant about their set sunday roast menu. It’s 75pp and one of its courses is their famous roast, which alone would cost around £35. We decided to give it a try. Although this might seem a bit pricey, it is 100% worth of £75. First, every course was delicious. Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures of all of them as I was eager to try them out. Second, it is a massive quantity of food. In fact, I wasn’t expecting it to be that much. Our reservation was 1:30 and we were so full that we skipped dinner. Be prepared for a long nap after you eat. Finally, but most importantly, this set menu was high quality. From nibbles to desserts, everything was on point. As I was with my partner, each of us chose a different option from the two we were offered so we could try everything. If you go with a partner or friend, I recommend you do the same. But if you don’t, pick what you wish. As I said, everything was great, so there’s no mistake.

The staff were lovely mostly. The food was fine mostly, however we thought it was not worth the money nor was it a fine dining experience. My 2 star review is due to finding a long black hair was in my duck croquette. It was so baked in to it that bits of croquette were still in tangled to it when I pulled it from my mouth. I’ve short hair and my friends are blond incase you were wondering. As it put us all off that course hardly any of it was eaten so I was disappointed that no replacement of reimbursement was offered after showing it to the staff. In that same course my vegetarian friend had their duck replaced with a bit of what appeared to be unimaginative cabbage, which we are sure we had eaten in the previous course. We did not feel our feedback on this was taken seriously

We upgraded to the 8 course taster menu with wine pairings and it was fantastic. A really lovely place to go for a special occasion. Plates are on the smaller side so I’m happy we went for 8 dishes

Food: Simple and a bit bland, with incredibly small portion sizes. When you look at the price and are tempted by the "affordable" cost of a 5-course menu, assume you will have two bites worth of food per dish. Service: Really good, very polite and friendly staff who were very accommodating to our allergies and tailored the dishes very well. Atmosphere: Way too packed. The chairs of tables next to each other actually touch, and I was seated behind someone whose chair would hit me everytime they shuffled in their seat. In order to let them get up and go to the toilet, I actually had to stand up during my meal, tuck in my chair so that they could get out. This was quite disruptive and made the experience less pleasant. Overall, I just think this place is overhyped. Food was so so and ambiance not great either. Wine especially expensive so I think there are better places to try nearby that this.

We had the 5 course tasting menu without wine pairing. You are given soda bread with whipped marmite butter (surprisingly ok despite us not liking marmite) to begin on top of the 5 courses. It's small plates, but we left stuffed. Dishes change depending on season and availability. So, the mackerel others mentioned was not in our menu. Their signature is fried chicken, but it's not included in either of the tasting menus. You can opt to have some included as a snack to start. Our waitress was honest enough to say that's how they make more money. We went for the jerk buttermilk chicken. Outstanding chicken worth the extra cost. However, did we need an extra dish? No, we were so full it was almost uncomfortable. If you come starving, you'll be fine. They're known for their Sunday roast too. It's a casual place. Quite narrow and cosy. The dining area is in the back and it's not very big. Toilets are down the stairs (there's 2). Service was good. They wished happy birthday and gave us a free glass of prosecco each.

Shaking table, tight space next to the bar. Atleast we could hear what the waitresses did last night with her boyfriend. First course way too salty Middle courses about average. We were disappointed overall cant recommend.

We went for the vegetarian and dishes served were average with an underwhelming pairing of wine. Few of our dishes were very salty. Portions are extremely small and the main course was salty and did not complement the combination of elements on the plate. It was supposed to be a “good” birthday lunch! :(

My brother and I treated our parents to the 8 course tasting menu as a belated Christmas Present. The 4 of us were very much looking forward to this dinner being fans of The Great British Menu and fine dining experiences. However, the whole experience was extremely underwhelming. Although each dish looked aesthetically pleasing, there was no wow factor when eating it - it was all very average and no synergy between the courses. The last two courses in particular were disappointing which was essentially a doughnut in a bowl and a waffle with melted cheese on top?. I wouldn't rush back here and it was expensive for what it was worth as we also treated them to the wine pairing too! However, the service was great and our waitresses were knowledgeable; the restaurant was quite cramped too.

We visited 12.51 on Wed 24th Jan 2024 at 5.30. It was a tasting menu..a gift from our son. Although we accept it was a tasting menu we felt most of the food was too salty and the textures and flavours didn't work. Even the skin on the small piece of duck we got wasn't crispy & the doughnut at the end was stodgy! We were very disappointed especially as it was so expensive. Hard to believe Chef Cochran would be happy with the standard of food we received that evening. Two unhappy customers.

Terrible. The 8 course taster menu is terrible. Bad tasting over salted pub grub style food, they really are fleecing people in here. Every dish was really unpleasant. We got the meal for £30pp as it was through groupon, but even that was massively overpriced for what it was. Luckily we didn’t go for the wine pairing. We had to pay an extra £12 for their ‘signature’ fried jerk chicken dish as it wasn’t included. £15 for a glass of wine.

Such a great birthday experience for my friend. The food is delicious and very well presented. You are welcomed by sparkling wine and tap water (which is changed as soon as you finish it), cutlery is changed after each dish and everyone is very friendly, polite and smiley. One of the best experiences in London. The highlight was definitely the small bread with whipped butter, risotto, duck dish and the warm doughnuts filled with white chocolate. I will definitely return when the menu changes.

I’m rubbish at writing reviews but honestly the food was so delicious. Everything had so many different flavours it was very well thought through. You can tell there’s a lot of passion at this place for what they do. We did the 8 course with drinks pairing. Some of the wines were such a unique flavour, I’d also had nothing like it before.. Loved the fried chicken and oysters as “snacks” as well. Reasonably priced, but I added pretty much every extra so it ended up being a typical London tasting menu price. Worth every penny.

4/1/24 - 2 of us ordered the 5 course vegetarian tasting menu. 1 of us is gluten free and gave the required 48 hours notice. The food was lovely, but just not enough of it and not enough protein to fill you up. I've had many tasting menus and always been nicely full before (female, size 12 so not a huge appetite) but I left not feeling full. My gluten free daughter, had a nice substitute piece of bread, but after that the gf solution was to simply omit the gluten item and not provide a substitute. So no substitute for the barley in the main course, no doughnut substitute, and actually still expecting us to share the acompanying mousse. Even the waitress realised that looked mean and went to get another mousse. Overall the value for money just wasn't there and the experience was disappointing. Afterwards she was still hungry and we went to Sainsburys for additional food, which isn't what you expect to need to do after spending £100 on your dinner for 2 + of course the 12.5% which is automatically added to your bill.

My partner and I had reserved a table for New Year's Eve, looking forward to a special evening. Regrettably, the experience was a letdown from the outset, beginning with our arrival. We received a rather cold welcome and were left to stand in a corridor, unclear about how long we would need to wait for our table. Throughout the evening, the service was hurried and chaotic. Our first course was served before our drinks arrived, and the second course came whilst I was still eating the first. The staff did not provide clean plates between courses, necessitating a request from us as the dishes were briskly brought out. This frenetic pace continued, with courses being delivered every 10 to 15 minutes. A glaring lack of coordination between the kitchen and waiting staff became increasingly evident. Our fifth course was nearly cleared away before we had finished, and the sixth course, a main, was served immediately afterwards. The duck, expected to be a highlight, was served cold and with poor presentation, accompanied by unbalanced flavours. The dessert service was equally underwhelming. A chocolate mousse was brought to our table while my partner was absent, and its ingredients were explained only to me, missing the chance for both of us to enjoy the explanation together. The final dessert course arrived whilst we were still on the first, adding to the sensation of being rushed. Our entire dining experience, costing £85 per person for an eight-course meal, was condensed into a mere 90 minutes. This hurried succession of dishes, approximately one every 11 minutes, left us feeling hastened and unwelcome. The additional option of a wine tasting, at £65 per person, would have been impractical to enjoy under these circumstances. The evening concluded disappointingly with the staff beginning to stack chairs and prepare for closure 20 minutes before the official closing time, whilst we and other guests were still dining. This discourtesy, combined with the lack of any New Year's wishes or expressions of thanks as we departed, was the final straw in an evening marred by substandard service and a disregard for hospitality. Regrettably, this experience has led us to decide against returning to the restaurant. The neglect of customer experience, especially on such a significant occasion as New Year's Eve, was deeply disheartening.

The whole experience left an awful taste in my mouth... If you're keen to enjoy yourself, enjoy your food or get something worth what you're paying, then I'd highly recommend going somewhere else. We decided to celebrate 6 months of parenting & have a blowout at 12:51 (we were also keen to use our Amex dining credit) so opted for the 8 course and wine pairing. The experience overall was underwhelming. The restaurant is crammed and lacks any warmth or personality. The food is pretentious to the point of being unenjoyable but then also rushed out at considerable speed to keep the conveyor belt going. I was so looking forward to the fried chicken, but it was absolutely overwhelmed by the truffle. The raw scallop covered in what appears to be cat sick, was actually one of the better balanced dishes. And to be fair the meat, ham & wines were actually enjoyable but certainly didnt provide anything close to worth for the price paid or leave a better taste in ones mouth from such a tired and drab experience. We were somewhat relieved we weren't paying "full price" for what was a completely underwhelming meal at a somewhat ok restaurant but... last laugh was on us as Amex refuses to payout because we've been charged from a restaurant in Norwich. I contacted 12:51 numerous times across 3 weeks to 1) just ask for a copy of my bill so I can prove we didn't eat in Norwich & 2)to ask why we'd been charged from a restaurant in Norwich when we clearly ate in London... but so far have only received some incomprehensible response from someone who couldn't care less about what I was asking, and which further confirms this restaurant cares about only one thing, taking your money and providing as little service or worth as possible.

It is certainly not a hospitality you expect to see from Georgian people. Shame on you! The unprofessional attitude of staff ruined the dinner, despite good food. The host did not want to give us a table at 7.45pm (!), although the restaurant is closing at 9pm. We literally had to persuade them that we would manage to finish everything on time. At 8.35pm we finished with food and I asked for another glass of Saperavi, and the host said that: ‘I don’t think you’ll manage to drink it in 10 minutes’. Can you imagine? Georgian people refused to pour me a glass of wine. For those who know Georgians it sounds like a joke. I never felt so unwelcome at the restaurant and the staff did everything to get rid of us as quickly as possible. My Hungarian friend was just shocked to see this kind of attitude. And it is definitely not normal, neither in general nor for Georgians, in particular. To be fair, though, the food was nice. Change your attitude to guests! You can not treat them as if they just annoy you when they come. Wouldn’t recommend it.

I preferred white wine before the meal but it was a complete disappointment, its quality was so low it was like drinking water. The starter chicken liver was overcooked and tasteless, very salty The dumpling was boiled well enough and there was bone and cartilage in the minced meat. Cheap meat was used.

Enjoyed the food and the attractively decorated restaurant. Had lunch in December where London is completely in the Christmas spirit, just like Fig & Olive. The four of us had a nice meal here. The three of us shared such delicious plates that included delicacies like salt cod croquettes, hummus with an amazingly interesting flatbread, sea bass, duck, sour cocktails, cardamom icecream. OH and the chicory in the tangy sauce. Cooking really simple yet refined, pure flavours, beautifully presented and prepared and referential to real traditions and footways. We loved our dinner so much. Special thanks to the wonderful young man (red hair, necklace) who waited on us with such warmth and knowledge and guided our choices so perfectly. Wish I could eat at Moro a lot in my life!
