Fig & Olive in Islington

Had the most delicious lunch here. Served promptly and politely. If a restaurant can serve a good creme brulee then that is the sign of an excellent eating establishment. Fig and Olive did t that, and more. Highly recommend!

I have now been twice with a friend, each time for a Tuesday dinner. There were only a few tables taken each time so we had plenty of space and did not have to shout - which is nice when you come for a catch up. The food is very nice, however the second time I was disappointed to see a steak with salad I was looking forward to no longer on the menu. Hopefully it comes back.

we made a reservation for dinner, when we have arrived, staff welcomed us with smiling face, they are soo much helpful and kind, food was extremly delicious, it was not easy to choose what we would like to have cause they have many option in their menu, for the next time we would like to have their vegeterian and vegan food too, amazing musics and atmospher, we were happy when we saw they have gluten free food and deserts😍 i can't wait to go there again, thanks for all

This was a bad experience in every way. I was there today and I had a smoothie which just tasted frozen and weak, and a steak baguette which has made me sick 4 times since getting home. the waitress was very grumpy . the food was very expensive and has given me food poisoning. can’t get much worse than this. Oh the lights kept going on and off which was annoying.

We visited as a large group, and I had the pan-fried sea bass, which was quite delicious. The venue itself is physically attractive and has a pleasant ambience. The drink service was fast, which was a nice touch. I didn’t try the desserts, so I can’t comment on those. One small note: the number of toilets (1 male and 1 female) felt insufficient, but this might have been due to the size of our group.

Really strange experience here. Walked along Upper St and thought we would try out this place. Was fairly quiet -We were allocated a table….. then ignored…. so we left and went elsewhere. Can’t rate food ( which may be very good) which we didn’t get to have because service was terrible.

Enjoyed the food and the attractively decorated restaurant. Had lunch in December where London is completely in the Christmas spirit, just like Fig & Olive. The four of us had a nice meal here. The Chicken Waffle is highly recommended, as are the Breakfast pancakes. The staff is friendly and the food comes quickly. In addition, it is very cozy and we enjoyed it very much.

Un poco decepcionado con la comida para ser honesto, los tamaños de las porciones se han reducido bastante en los últimos meses. Pedí un guiso de carne que consistía en 4 o 5 trozos pequeños de carne dura con un poco de puré. Esto se consideraría una porción de tamaño infantil, lo que es sorprendente ya que se anunciaba como un Main no un starter. Esto puede haber estado bien normalmente, pero el costo fue de poco menos de 17 libras! Escuché a otro cliente mencionar el tamaño de las porciones a la camarera también. El servicio estaba bien, pero algunos de los empleados parecían un poco poco poco profesionales en su trato con los clientes. Se fue decepcionado y todavía tiene mucha hambre. No es lo que solía ser.

We enjoyed some excellent salads for lunch in this place located in one of the most characteristic neighborhoods of London frequented by locals. Good service and friendliness.

Quite greasy and expensive food. The staff was behind our table and we felt like we were being watched during the meal. It was quite embarrassing. As soon as we put down our cutlery they arrived.

Una solicitud de una jarra o agua en lugar de un vaso pequeño fue recibida con perplejidad y tardó mucho en llegar. Cuánto tiempo se tarda en llenar una jarra con agua del grifo. Mi entrante estaba sabroso pero con un pedacito de halloumi y mucha salsa para mojar. Pitta fresca, buena cantidad. Encantador vino. El menú de pudín es pequeño y escondido en el menú de bebidas por alguna razón. Los budines tardaron mucho en llegar, pero el personal estaba de pie mirando perdido. Se suponía que mi pudín era pistacho pero era indetectable. Fue muy agradable, a pesar de eso. El servicio estaba incluido en la factura como una especie de impuesto. Pedimos que lo quitaran y le dimos al desconcertado servidor el dinero en efectivo como propina. No está mal precio por su situación, pero un poco decepcionante. A mi compañero le encantó su risotto. El personal no estaba seguro de la contraseña Wi-Fi y no se molestó en comprobar que habíamos hecho bien. No teníamos como no sabíamos si era minúscula, si había guiones. Se necesita una mejor formación del personal.

I love the Fig & Olive. It's a great place for Brunch. The big breakfast is excellent, the ingredients and prep are excellent. Especially with a Prosecco and a Grenache to follow

Cute little place but manager had a little mean attitude towards us for only ordering coffee and cakes to sit down and have at 3pm.

Eaten here twice and both times were great. Very friendly service and the food was well presented in generous portions (not often seen in this locale!) and plenty of variety on the menu. Last night, after sharing the Chorizo and Hummus starter which was great, I had the salmon Risotto which was hearty and full of flavour while my companion gave a thumbs up to the mussels. Didn’t have room for a pudding given the portions but they looked nice. Will go again for sure.

We fancied “coffee and cake”. Beautiful little cafe/eatery offering lots of lovely sweet things. My chai latte was lovely, just wish it was in a slightly more generous size. Fabulously comfortable and relaxing. Discreet service and enjoyed our time there. Will be back for the carrot cake with the walnuts!

The lamb shank was awesome and the service was quick and friendly. The vibe was chill and perfect for hanging out. Definitely a spot to check out loved it, I’ll be back for sure

Even though I just went for a coffee and a dessert the restaurant looks really nice. The menu offers a diverse range of tasty dishes, from fresh salads to expertly grilled meats. Stopped off for an unexpected breakfast as our hotel had a power cut. Irem and her staff were lovely and very accommodating at such short notice. Service was nice and friendly and served with a smile, food was delicious along with the coffee.. would definitely go again when in the area. 👌

Friendly atmosphere, great food and location. We had a late Mediterranean breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice. it was a great kick start to a lazy Sunday morning.

**Avoid this place at all costs.** This establishment engages in deceptive billing practices, serves watered-down juice, and employs unclear and misleading waitstaff who say one thing but do another when it comes to your bill. For example, we ordered a pancake for our child. The waiter suggested that the adult-sized pancake would be too large and recommended ordering from the kids' menu instead. We specifically asked for just the pancake, without the juice and ice cream, to save on costs, and the waiter agreed. However, we were charged for an adult-sized pancake, and the juice that was separately ordered for my daughter was billed separately as well. It's the waiter's responsibility to guide customers honestly, but this place is clearly more interested in taking advantage of customers with excuses. To top it off, the manager didn’t even bother to apologize or address our concerns. This level of service and dishonesty is unacceptable.

Atmosphere was nice and the waitress was actually really lovely, however the most important thing and the sole reason I was there was for the food - which fell completely flat on its face. I had a couple of starters followed by some chips and a chicken schnitzel which was a massive disappointment. The starters being garlic bread and cheesy mushrooms, which were arguably impossible to mess up, and as such were lovely. But the chicken schnitzel smelled like fish and tasted genuinely off. I have no idea what was wrong with it, but didn't have the time to argue before returning to work, so I ended up paying around £45 for garlic bread, cheesy mushrooms and some chips which came with the chicken; I had to leave everything else. It's a shame because given the location and appearance of this place I expected it to be decent. There's no way they can justify their prices given what I had. I've had chicken schnitzels dozens of times in all sorts of places, who all got it right, so I don't know how this place charging such extortionate prices can get it so wrong.

En la zona visitando a la familia y visitado aquí para la cena, que gran hallazgo y menú encantador. El servicio y la comida eran geniales. La camarera o la cocina confundieron el pedido, mi marido consiguió mi cerdo y me dieron su pollo. Afortunadamente ambos estaban deliciosos y compartimos mitad y mitad que funcionó muy bien para los dos. Las cuñas caseras eran preciosas y una gran selección de platos y vinos para elegir. Muy contento de haber topado con este restaurante y sin duda volvería. Bien hecho al personal y la dirección en una fantástica experiencia gastronómica.

Went for the lunch special. £15.95 two courses. NB not available at weekends at that price. Very good value. The portions were very almost too generous. Basic cooking done well. Recommend whatever fish they have on as that’s what we had so going on that. Perfectly cooked. Was going for a late lunch but so much food was provided we didn’t have to have much dinner later! £52 for 2. Including one hard, one soft drink plus service. Couldn’t rate the atmosphere as it was empty at 3 pm on a weekday lol. Too content to have a dessert but good looking pastries/cakes on counter sale. Plus many gluten free options

I do not recommend. The location is good however the food is NOT, and the service is pretty bad too, unfortunately.

Stopped for a coffee and a piece of cheesecake. Staff were very nice, coffee was good and the cheesecake was tasty. Goes back a long way from quite a narrow street frontage, a lot of the shops in this area do.

Popped in for cake and coffee and left disappointed. I can't fault the service which was friendly and attentive, but honestly the cakes we had tasted shop bought, low quality and with a squirt of cheap strawberry and chocolate sauce. For nearly £6.50 a pop it was definitely not worth it. Won't be going back.

Such a lovely place, with great table service. shame the food is not up to standard. I had Eggs royal that were basically soft boiled egg instead of poached and my husband full breakfast looked and tasted like out of a cheap cafe where they deep fried everything. the sausage tasted off and he couldn't finish it either and scramble egg were horrendous.

Nice food. Far too noisy though and hard to hear both by the wait staff and us. Need more soft furnishings to enable a more enjoyable experience.

4 of us had breakfast 3 different meals all well presented .loved it Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and sourdough bread and a salad garnish.

I really, really like this restaurant, I used to be a regular here. Unfortunately, however, the new staff seem to almost stalk customers while they eat. Today my plate was taken away from me while I was still eating, no questions asked, like “can I take it away”, or “are you done?”. I’m wondering whether this is lack of training or more generally lack of common sense or basic politeness. London prices are not cheap, and to have your food taken away when you’re not done, it’s a bit of a rip-off, if I’m honest. Overall, we felt there was a very tense atmosphere, constantly being starred at. Sadly, I won’t go back again.

Great service by friendly staff. The food is tasty and a good size portion. The veggie all day breakfast is superb value! They also do lovely desserts to take home or eat in the restaurant, or both! Definitely will be coming back

Popped in here after the Arsenal game. Saw the amazing deserts in the window and couldn't resist! Had the mussels which were delicious with chips. Also got a couple of cocktails too. Had a wonderful amaretto cheesecake to finish it all off! The staff were so friendly and just wanted to make sure you were happy. When a larger table was free we were offered this table. Just couldn't fault it! Thank you guys!

Very disappointed in the vegetarian roast...... they do not give you a substitute like a nut roast just a roast with no meat. This is not what i would expect and the first time ive had this experience. Needs to be better

A lovely restaurant, located just off the lively Upper Street, offering Mediterranean fusion cuisine. The portions are generally generous and every dish we tried (including Loup de Mer & Bœuf Bourguignon) tasted very good. The clear wine list and the desserts were also convincing, even if the eclairs had already lost some of their fluffy freshness. In addition, the service team was friendly and casual without being overly demanding. But the tip in the form of the 'discretionary charge' is rarely rejected anyway. Cheers!🍷

This is how it should be done. Fantastically friendly, engaging team of front of house hospitality professional, with a dazzling array of delicious food and a bubbly, atmospheric environment in which to enjoy it.

Walked in for coffee and cake. Chose coffee and walnut and amaretto cheesecake. Coffee and walnut was very dry and hard. No trace of amaretto in the small slice of cheesecake. The worst part was the bill. Just under £22 for 2 slices of mediocre cake and 2 black coffees. Never ever again. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Portions are massive but they have put their prices up a bit too much... Would like to see a few less chips and a few quid off the bill instead! Apart from that, super friendly staff, food is good and it's always clean.

We just had some desert late so not a lot happened and wasn't too busy so we stayed a while with no issue rather than the 40min they initially told us.

I went in with my two children and the staff were wonderful with them. The menu is extensive, portions are enormous and food very tasty. When my little one had a meltdown, the staff were so kind and understanding. I decided to leave and they packed all the delicious food for us to take home.

We went in for evening dinner and were so impressed by everything, the ambience, friendly helpful staff, menu selection & ultimately the food was gorgeous. I had goats cheese starter & asparagus tagliatelle & hubby had scallops & duck mains. All was delicious & arrived promptly. On a damp & chilly February night we felt like we were sat in a warm hug. It was so good we went back for breakfast the following morning! Breakfast was also top notch. We're not from the area but have been visiting for 20 years and it's up there with the best places we've eaten in Islington, it's number one on our list to revisit next time.

We had our work Christmas party here and it was wonderful! Delicious food, large portions, excellent service and a great price. Can't recommend enough!

20% service charge - so-called ‘discretionary’ but when we asked to have it removed (due to extremely slow service) we were told we had to pay for it. Further request to have this discretionary charge removed was met by refusal and to avoid further unpleasantness we paid the £24. 20% was too much, especially for such slow service. The food was fine, though astonishingly little vegan choice- and the whole experience spoilt by the blunt treatment we received as mentioned already.

The food was really nice particularly the goats cheese salad which was bursting with flavour , warm grilled aubergine and peppers. A busy evening yet the service team remained pleasant and helpful.

I really liked the brunch here. All the dishes on the table looked really good, the portions were good and my omelette and the French toast were very good. Also the chicken and waffles is top, and The French toast is so fluffy and yummy

We’ve just had a really good meal in this restaurant. The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I needed a gluten free meal and I was shown what was available and the staff had a clear understanding of cross contamination. The portion sizes were very generous and we thought the whole meal was extremely good value for money.

I had a decent and large Sunday roast.

We went here for our wedding lunch with our families and it was absolutely amazing. The staff (especially Elif!) were so attentive, we dropped a fork on the floor and were handed a new one before we even had time to pick it up. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. Really lovely atmosphere, would highly recommend!

Stay away I used to come here regularly and the food was amazing. I have even celebrated my birthday in the past. I ordered the chicken Sunday roast and chicken schnitzel the plates were massive but sadly the food was horrible and we didn't eat it. I explained to the manager that the food was not okay and we did not eat it and he got very defensive and was rude. Turned around and said what can he do and he served 100 meals with no complaints today. I gave an example of the Yorkshire pudding which was burnt and soggy and he replied there was nothing wrong with the food and thats how it is. He turned around and said I only want to serve nice people, he kept the kitchen open for me and there is nothing wrong with the food, you just don't want to pay. I have never come across such a rude, delusional manager. Anyway I will never go to The Fig & Olive again and want to warn people not to waste their time or money on the food. Nothing tasted okay and the service is non existant. They will ask you how the food is but have no interest in your response and just walk off.

We come used to come to this place regularly and we really enjoyed dinner and desserts. Today we came for a Sunday roast, we ordered beef one and I would not recommend to anyone. Meat chewy, poor quality- almost inedible, Yorkshire pudding burnt. Veggies undercooked (broccoli and green beans). Staff used to be friendly and kind, little left from old days. In this area there are many places to choose from, I would avoid this on Sunday for sure.

Very tasty food, great portions. Staff were very friendly and helpful for gluten free options. We had a banofee pie after our foods, it was amazing. Will definitely be back.
