We fancied “coffee and cake”. Beautiful little cafe/eatery offering lots of lovely sweet things. My chai latte was lovely, just wish it was in a slightly more generous size. Fabulously comfortable and relaxing. Discreet service and enjoyed our time there. Will be back for the carrot cake with the walnuts!

The lamb shank was awesome and the service was quick and friendly. The vibe was chill and perfect for hanging out. Definitely a spot to check out loved it, I’ll be back for sure

Even though I just went for a coffee and a dessert the restaurant looks really nice. The menu offers a diverse range of tasty dishes, from fresh salads to expertly grilled meats. With its chic décor and comfortable ambiance, it’s perfect for anything from a laid-back lunch to a special evening meal. Outstanding service and a fantastic wine list add to the overall experience. Strongly recommended.

I recently visited Fig&Olive while I was in London for English courses, and I had a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. I particularly enjoyed Tuna Steak and Garlic Bread, which was absolutely delicious. The menu had a good variety, and everything was fresh and flavorful. Stopped off for an unexpected breakfast as our hotel had a power cut. Irem and her staff were lovely and very accommodating at such short notice. Service was nice and friendly and served with a smile, food was delicious along with the coffee.. would definitely go again when in the area. 👌

Friendly atmosphere, great food and location. We had a late Mediterranean breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice. it was a great kick start to a lazy Sunday morning.

**Avoid this place at all costs.** This establishment engages in deceptive billing practices, serves watered-down juice, and employs unclear and misleading waitstaff who say one thing but do another when it comes to your bill. For example, we ordered a pancake for our child. The waiter suggested that the adult-sized pancake would be too large and recommended ordering from the kids' menu instead. We specifically asked for just the pancake, without the juice and ice cream, to save on costs, and the waiter agreed. However, we were charged for an adult-sized pancake, and the juice that was separately ordered for my daughter was billed separately as well. It's the waiter's responsibility to guide customers honestly, but this place is clearly more interested in taking advantage of customers with excuses. To top it off, the manager didn’t even bother to apologize or address our concerns. This level of service and dishonesty is unacceptable.

Atmosphere was nice and the waitress was actually really lovely, however the most important thing and the sole reason I was there was for the food - which fell completely flat on its face. I had a couple of starters followed by some chips and a chicken schnitzel which was a massive disappointment. The starters being garlic bread and cheesy mushrooms, which were arguably impossible to mess up, and as such were lovely. But the chicken schnitzel smelled like fish and tasted genuinely off. I have no idea what was wrong with it, but didn't have the time to argue before returning to work, so I ended up paying around £45 for garlic bread, cheesy mushrooms and some chips which came with the chicken; I had to leave everything else. It's a shame because given the location and appearance of this place I expected it to be decent. There's no way they can justify their prices given what I had. I've had chicken schnitzels dozens of times in all sorts of places, who all got it right, so I don't know how this place charging such extortionate prices can get it so wrong.

In the area visiting family and visited here for dinner, what a great find and lovely menu. Service and food were both great. Waitress or kitchen got the order slightly mixed up, my husband got my pork and I got given his chicken. Luckily both were delicious and we shared half and half which worked out nicely for both of us. The homemade wedges were lovely and a great selection of dishes and wines to choose from. So happy to have stumbled upon this restaurant and would definitely return. Well done to the staff and management on a fantastic dining experience.

Went for the lunch special. £15.95 two courses. NB not available at weekends at that price. Very good value. The portions were very almost too generous. Basic cooking done well. Recommend whatever fish they have on as that’s what we had so going on that. Perfectly cooked. Was going for a late lunch but so much food was provided we didn’t have to have much dinner later! £52 for 2. Including one hard, one soft drink plus service. Couldn’t rate the atmosphere as it was empty at 3 pm on a weekday lol. Too content to have a dessert but good looking pastries/cakes on counter sale. Plus many gluten free options

Stopped for a coffee and a piece of cheesecake. Staff were very nice, coffee was good and the cheesecake was tasty. Goes back a long way from quite a narrow street frontage, a lot of the shops in this area do.

Popped in for cake and coffee and left disappointed. I can't fault the service which was friendly and attentive, but honestly the cakes we had tasted shop bought, low quality and with a squirt of cheap strawberry and chocolate sauce. For nearly £6.50 a pop it was definitely not worth it. Won't be going back.

Such a lovely place, with great table service. shame the food is not up to standard. I had Eggs royal that were basically soft boiled egg instead of poached and my husband full breakfast looked and tasted like out of a cheap cafe where they deep fried everything. the sausage tasted off and he couldn't finish it either and scramble egg were horrendous.

Nice food. Far too noisy though and hard to hear both by the wait staff and us. Need more soft furnishings to enable a more enjoyable experience.

4 of us had breakfast 3 different meals all well presented .loved it Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and sourdough bread and a salad garnish.

I really, really like this restaurant, I used to be a regular here. Unfortunately, however, the new staff seem to almost stalk customers while they eat. Today my plate was taken away from me while I was still eating, no questions asked, like “can I take it away”, or “are you done?”. I’m wondering whether this is lack of training or more generally lack of common sense or basic politeness. London prices are not cheap, and to have your food taken away when you’re not done, it’s a bit of a rip-off, if I’m honest. Overall, we felt there was a very tense atmosphere, constantly being starred at. Sadly, I won’t go back again.

Great service by friendly staff. The food is tasty and a good size portion. The veggie all day breakfast is superb value! They also do lovely desserts to take home or eat in the restaurant, or both! Definitely will be coming back

Popped in here after the Arsenal game. Saw the amazing deserts in the window and couldn't resist! Had the mussels which were delicious with chips. Also got a couple of cocktails too. Had a wonderful amaretto cheesecake to finish it all off! The staff were so friendly and just wanted to make sure you were happy. When a larger table was free we were offered this table. Just couldn't fault it! Thank you guys!

Very disappointed in the vegetarian roast...... they do not give you a substitute like a nut roast just a roast with no meat. This is not what i would expect and the first time ive had this experience. Needs to be better

A lovely restaurant, located just off the lively Upper Street, offering Mediterranean fusion cuisine. The portions are generally generous and every dish we tried (including Loup de Mer & Bœuf Bourguignon) tasted very good. The clear wine list and the desserts were also convincing, even if the eclairs had already lost some of their fluffy freshness. In addition, the service team was friendly and casual without being overly demanding. But the tip in the form of the 'discretionary charge' is rarely rejected anyway. Cheers!🍷

This is how it should be done. Fantastically friendly, engaging team of front of house hospitality professional, with a dazzling array of delicious food and a bubbly, atmospheric environment in which to enjoy it.

Walked in for coffee and cake. Chose coffee and walnut and amaretto cheesecake. Coffee and walnut was very dry and hard. No trace of amaretto in the small slice of cheesecake. The worst part was the bill. Just under £22 for 2 slices of mediocre cake and 2 black coffees. Never ever again. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Portions are massive but they have put their prices up a bit too much... Would like to see a few less chips and a few quid off the bill instead! Apart from that, super friendly staff, food is good and it's always clean.

We just had some desert late so not a lot happened and wasn't too busy so we stayed a while with no issue rather than the 40min they initially told us.

I went in with my two children and the staff were wonderful with them. The menu is extensive, portions are enormous and food very tasty. When my little one had a meltdown, the staff were so kind and understanding. I decided to leave and they packed all the delicious food for us to take home.

We went in for evening dinner and were so impressed by everything, the ambience, friendly helpful staff, menu selection & ultimately the food was gorgeous. I had goats cheese starter & asparagus tagliatelle & hubby had scallops & duck mains. All was delicious & arrived promptly. On a damp & chilly February night we felt like we were sat in a warm hug. It was so good we went back for breakfast the following morning! Breakfast was also top notch. We're not from the area but have been visiting for 20 years and it's up there with the best places we've eaten in Islington, it's number one on our list to revisit next time.

We had our work Christmas party here and it was wonderful! Delicious food, large portions, excellent service and a great price. Can't recommend enough!

The food was really nice particularly the goats cheese salad which was bursting with flavour , warm grilled aubergine and peppers. A busy evening yet the service team remained pleasant and helpful.

20% service charge - so-called ‘discretionary’ but when we asked to have it removed (due to extremely slow service) we were told we had to pay for it. Further request to have this discretionary charge removed was met by refusal and to avoid further unpleasantness we paid the £24. 20% was too much, especially for such slow service. The food was fine, though astonishingly little vegan choice- and the whole experience spoilt by the blunt treatment we received as mentioned already.

I really liked the brunch here. All the dishes on the table looked really good, the portions were good and my omelette and the French toast were very good. Also the chicken and waffles is top, and The French toast is so fluffy and yummy

We’ve just had a really good meal in this restaurant. The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I needed a gluten free meal and I was shown what was available and the staff had a clear understanding of cross contamination. The portion sizes were very generous and we thought the whole meal was extremely good value for money.

We went here for our wedding lunch with our families and it was absolutely amazing. The staff (especially Elif!) were so attentive, we dropped a fork on the floor and were handed a new one before we even had time to pick it up. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. Really lovely atmosphere, would highly recommend!

Stay away I used to come here regularly and the food was amazing. I have even celebrated my birthday in the past. I ordered the chicken Sunday roast and chicken schnitzel the plates were massive but sadly the food was horrible and we didn't eat it. I explained to the manager that the food was not okay and we did not eat it and he got very defensive and was rude. Turned around and said what can he do and he served 100 meals with no complaints today. I gave an example of the Yorkshire pudding which was burnt and soggy and he replied there was nothing wrong with the food and thats how it is. He turned around and said I only want to serve nice people, he kept the kitchen open for me and there is nothing wrong with the food, you just don't want to pay. I have never come across such a rude, delusional manager. Anyway I will never go to The Fig & Olive again and want to warn people not to waste their time or money on the food. Nothing tasted okay and the service is non existant. They will ask you how the food is but have no interest in your response and just walk off.

We come used to come to this place regularly and we really enjoyed dinner and desserts. Today we came for a Sunday roast, we ordered beef one and I would not recommend to anyone. Meat chewy, poor quality- almost inedible, Yorkshire pudding burnt. Veggies undercooked (broccoli and green beans). Staff used to be friendly and kind, little left from old days. In this area there are many places to choose from, I would avoid this on Sunday for sure.

We had an amazing time at Fig and Olive last Thursday evening. We visited with a large family group and the team were super accommodating and flexible. Many people commented on how excellent the meals were and I really enjoyed mine too! Would certainly recommend.

Friendly staff, nice coffee and cakes. However I have given it 3 stars because of the cost. I was shocked to be charge £6.95 for a small slice of cherry tart. Cost not justified. Receipt stated it was a dessert but a pastry/ cake with coffee is not a dessert. Disappointingly they did not have any prices next to their cakes, I noticed every other place on the street does, including Ottolenghi where the majority of cakes are actually cheaper. Pricing needs to be looked at- for an extra £3 I could have had eggs Benedict and for an extra £3.50 a Burger.

I was walking by and saw this restaurant and I decided to try it out with my daughter and it did not disappoint. The service was friendly and quick and the food was well presented and tasted amazing also the portion was generous and filling. Would definitely recommend!

Cannot fault this place. Superb food and service. I need gluten free and the waitress was fully aware of all options on the menu. Had my 78th birthday lunch there with wife and sister-in-law on 5 June 2023.

I’m giving this place a 5 just for the orange and carrot cake. I’m a big cake lover and I was impressed. It was one of the best carrot cakes I have ever had. The cream cheese frosting was the perfect ratio to the cake. It was super delicious and I’m definitely returning just for this. Update: I returned for lunch and tried the goats cheese, caramelised onions and spinach panini, which was absolutely delicious. All the items have worked very well together with the creaminess of the cheese and the sweet hint from the onions. I was shocked at the portion size as I was not expecting it to be as big as it was. It came with chips and salad. Unfortunately, they did not have the carrot and orange cake this time so I opted for a chocolate cake which was extremely chocolatey and moist. I would recommend it for those with a sweet tooth. I will definitely come back here again.

I recommend Fig & Olive, we went there on Sunday for dinner with the family. Everyone found something for themselves. Food and drinks are fresh and delicious. Great presentation and an even better atmosphere. The dish I recommend: scallops, mix vegetarian meze platter, mussels, duck breast and pork schnitzel.

Nice relaxed atmosphere but sadly mains are reheated - fine for Beef bourguignon but no good for duck breast that was tough as a result. A shame as it was quite tasty.

We have been regulars at Fig & Olive on Upper Street for at least 7 years. Happily the food remains consistently excellent and the service friendly and welcoming. We particularly recommend the Sunday roast with all the trimmings. And don't miss the banoffee pie!

My husband and I held a small reception meal here for 35 people. It was excellent. More than we could have asked for. Menu great, service superb. Nothing to much for them. Thank you Fig & Olive

Don't know why I've never been in here before. The food and service was fantastic. Vegetarian meze and pan fried king prawns were delicious. So impressed and definitely won't be my last visit.

Wow!!! This what happens when you are led by all that glitters in the eyes. Walked past The Fig & Olive and was instantly smitten by the gorgeous looking cakes and Tarts in the window display. My lady friend and I vowed to return and we did a week later. What a disaster!! First, when I asked if the Pear Tart had custard in it, the waiter replied 'what... Lemon...?' Clearly she was not clear on the English language and this become clearer and clearer as we struggled to order what we came for, a slice of Victoria Sponge Cake / Raspberry Cake, Mixed Berry Cheesecake and a Coffee (Latte). And here we go... The Victoria Sponge Cake / Raspberry Cake could have done with some actual cake. The sugar was so overwhelming a squint accompanied every spoonful. My lady friend who ordered the Mixed Berry Cheesecake and Latte received a Cappuccino and Sugar with Mixed Berries. Both cakes were clearly not fresh with hard dry edges and that 'dead bakery' taste you get with days old cake. The Fig & Olive certainly looks the part, but all that glitters ain't gold as they say. Fool me once shame on me, Fool me twice won't happen.

We came here on the way to the theatre. It looked nice with a good selection of cakes. We were shown to our seats and then waited and waited for service. After a 20 minute wait in a café whish did not seem very busy, we eventually ordered coffee and cakes. After a further 15 minute wait we cancelled our cake order, to avoid being late for the theatre. When the coffee eventually arrived, it was Luke warm. We were glad to leave this place – not to return.

Good service - very accommodating staff. Had the lunch menu on a saturday and the main was underwhelming for most people; but the starters were nice and the desserts were good.

A tea, medium hot chocolate and 2 cakes cost £18.40 Tea and hot chocolate were standard, The cakes (at over £5.00 each) were very poor. The brownie tasted as if it were made from a cheap cake mix, claggy and ‘decorated’ with Demerara sugar (why?) other than cocoa powder I doubt there was any form of chocolate in it. Compulsory Service charge and although the cafe was completely empty the waitress didn’t come to us whilst waiting at the door until she finally acknowledged is after having a phone conversation for a few minutes. We continued to have to get her attention for every interaction. The cakes looked impressive upon entering but what an expensive disappointment!

Came here for something to eat/anniversary dinner before going to Sadler's Wells.....normally we go to The Gate further down towards the Theatre but its closed so we needed a new venue without just walking around. I found this on line. This was perfect.....The main courses...

We had a lunch of baked Camembert, fresh salad, hummus and aubergine. The food was delicious and the service excellent. It was a very pleasant environment to be in too. Thoroughly recommended.

I took my family to the gig and olive, we ordered roast beef and roast lamb, roast beef was a bit tough, and the lamb was chewy when biting into it, pots and Veg were lovely. Would I have a roast there again, really not...

Looking for a snack mid afternoon and went to Fig & Olive. So so pleased with my choice. The food was excellent and the service was great. All round great place to eat.

Faultless lunch yesterday of soup, Mediterranean salad, penne arrabiata followed by ice cream. The serving staff were attentive and pleasant. We just had to take two tartlets home for tea.

Very slow service, unfriendly staff and rude manager (not sure if he is the owner or manager). Never ever again.
