Taze Meze Mangal in Medway

This is without a doubt my favourite Turkish restaurant in the Midway towns the food is fresh even the bread is freshly cooked on the premises and I have never disappointed with all the Specials

Very welcoming and accommodating to our party of 11. Lovely food, generous portions, quick and attentive service. We all had a great time!

Have watched this little gem grow over the years, but the one thing that has never changed, has been the beautiful quality of the food, we’ve never been disappointed , don’t bother with Aden !! Taze is the one !!

Ordered the special kebab in tomato sauce, it was supposed to be Adana with sauce but it was shish with some off random hard bits. Toilet too small for size. Staff a little forgetful at times and not too attentive. Food ok nothing exciting

Amazing turkish food located at the end of Chatham high street. The food was absolutely top-tier and the meats were just amazing. They had such a smoky flavour which remained even after we took it home as we were unable to finish it all. We ordered the share platter for 4 and it was more then enough food for all of us. Our table was seated fairly close to the table next to us making it feel a little cramped and we only realised at the end of the meal that there was no card payments but other than that it was a divine meal. A friendly restaurant that we visited on a Sunday afternoon, service not bad, prices good, around £40 - £45 for the two of us. We will definitely return.

Poor/Average food and service. Food was wrongly delivered to table. After I had started my meal the waitress told me 'you'll have to give him some of your lamb because we have given you too much and him too little!' Very poor and unprofessional. Lamb had gristle and chicken crusty/ overcooked, maybe recooked, not nice! Coffee was barely warm. Then they said they don't accept electronic payments over £100. Unbelievable! Not recommended.

Lovely food and great service. First time we have visited this restaurant and we wasn’t disappointed. Good selection of food and drinks available at reasonable prices. Quite a relaxed atmosphere

Just went to this delightful Turkish restaurant. Sat outside under their marquee. Very relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was delicious and plenty of it. We had a starter and the special menu 1 with salad and rice and Turkish bread too. We also had tskazi and taramsolata very good. More than enough for two people. Certainly recommend dining here. Arranging to go back with friends on our return to Kent in a couple of weeks.

Called in on Friday evening, very good service and very friendly staff, the food was excellent, and large portions, had to pay by cash card machine broken, also careful when you park nearby, there was a very enthusiastic traffic warden

I've had many a wonderful food at this lovely restaurant at the end of Chatham High Street. The dishes are fresh and authentic - Highly recommended.

I can't fault the food it's excellent, probably one of the best in medway, however I'm giving a 1 * as the card machine is always "not working". Come on guuys get it fixed, no one carries cash around these days.

I retired at the end of March and wasn’t able to have a leaving do. So tonight was the night when my husband and myself along with colleagues Gill and Gary and their husband and wife had a wonderful evening. We had the set menu, had bread refills and salad and amazing deserts with drinks for £100. Fantastic service and would totally recommend this restaurant. Have been before and will certainly be back.

I'm so disappointed after finally trying this company that were highly recommended to me. We had to wait nearly 2 hours for our delivery, at which point the food was freezing cold, the chicken was pink and chewy so couldn't eat it and they messed up our order. Wasn't cheap either! Sorry but won't be returning

Our first takeaway meal- and definitely not our last. Good quality, freshly prepared, meat , lamb and chicken we had, superbly marinated . Staff friendly and helpful, can’t wait for the estuary to fully open to eat in. Highly recommended

Just moved to Rochester we were craving for some delicious, honest Turkish food, at the end of a stressful removal day, and this is exactly what the team at Taze Meze Mangal prepared for us. We particularly loved the Lamb Shish with Yoghurt and the Imam Baylidi aubergines. We'll soon be back for more!

Not sure what the restaurant is like, but we had a takeaway from here. God it was awful. Trays of dry rice with a small amount of dry meat and salad that had seen better days. The Turkish cookies sweet we ordered was nothing like advertised. Picture showed some lovely sweet mini pastries, we got a box of crumbly biscuit things that were tasteless and dry. Our £45 order was probably babout £10 worth of food.

This is my favorite restaurant the food is outstanding and the service is amazing!! The variety of food choice is really good and I like the sides I would come here more often

Excellent food , I visited the restaurant a few weeks ago .Would highly recommend the food is fresh & delicious . Top marks for accompanying Salad and Turkish bread . Very good portion sizes. Last night I ordered a takeaway which comes with Free delivery . Again top marks ,again great food , I ordered the same food as I had when I visited the restaurant . Iman Bayidi ( Aubergines stuffed with roasted vegetables and mushrooms) and mains of chicken shish , fantastic. Fast and friendly home delivery service. The best.

Covid 19 update. So just come back from a meal at Taze and other than a few stickers on the floor and a couple less tables, no obvious changes. Apparently the payment machine not working so when we got presented with the bill we also got told it was cash only. Not very Covid safe. These guys don’t seem serious about preventing the spread.

No need to get a plane to Turkey . Food was great,and very authentic. Service very quick and nice. Will come again and get my turkish fix....

Taze is a Chatham institution and always busy. Having taken the decision to close during lockdown, it was really heartening to see them reopen for takeaway recently and of course a great excuse to enjoy a meal there. Always great value for money, high quality and plentiful - you can't go wrong with the set menu for 2! Tender, flavoursome grilled meats, delicious rice and couscous with amazing fresh salad and lots of fresh bread. Also the premises are always really clean. Welcome back Taze.

Been here twice and loved it. The complementary salad and bread is the Winner!!! They did a good job refurbishing and extending the place tho. If I want to have Turkish kebab or saksuka it’ll be definitely here! X

The standard of food and service has declined since we were here last. The main course (including rice) was lukewarm and we had to ask for clean plates after the meze for our main course. We asked for extra bread but that was not provided. Found the staff had little interest in providing a decent service and we will go elsewhere in the future. Perhaps part of the problem is that all of the staff that we saw were under the age of 30 and they seemed to have little interest in what they were doing.

My original review was in February 2018, we have been back a few times and had few deliveries. Today we arrived to fine new premises, which are next door to the old premises which is now the takeaway and patisserie.The new premises are great with upstairs dining too with lots of Turkish features but not over the top.We had the set menu, which as been revised and although a lot of the prices have risen, the set menu for 3 was cheaper. This started with a cold meze, which had the dips, olives, aubergine and beans with their wonderful bread. My husband and brother are huge bread fans and although I’m not, the bread is great.Then the grilled meat, with rice and bulgar wheat, which was tasty and enough for the 3 of us. We then treated ourselves to baklava which was wonderful, although it would have been better to have forks, rather than cocktail sticks to eat, as it can get a little messy.The staff were very polite and friendly and the resturant was busy for a Wednesday.We will certainly be back and be back and be back...Had a great evening.

Visited this week for a spot of lunch from the time we entered until we left it was an extremely positive experience.The premises appear to be very clean and staff very courteous.We ordered a chicken shish kebab with yogurt, a lamb & aubergine stew and two apple teas. We were then served a salad bread and tzikiki like dip to commence. I was also asked if I wanted my stew at same time as my husbands meal as his would take 20 mins. Very thoughtful. When main meals served these came with rice/couscous.The food was excellant extremely tasty and lots of it more than we could eat.This restaurant has been extended so is now more spacious and airy. Appears very popular with locals.We have visited a few times before and will definately be visiting again.

Not very happy with latest visit. Ordered a takeaway which came to £42.80 on the online menu. Upon collection the price increased to £53.80 asked for the latest menu to see what had increased and was given a business card ????Wont be going back until I know what I'm paying for, used to be value for money. Not anymore it seems.

So I’m not sure how I feel about my visit. I has the counter look like a posh takeaway, all but one or two staff are not interested, didn’t understand why hot bread turned up but food was 10 mins later. Was I suppose to eat or wait. The place confused me, felt like family business where they didn’t get I.

So, to keep this short, although the food is good, the staff is terrible. My fiancee, called today to make an order, and she found out that the prices are different than the ones on their website. for example she ordered one taze special, that on their website is £14.40, but my mrs. had to pay for it £18 something. The only explanation from the lady who took the order was something like " darling, the prices have changed" . If it would've been me, i would've just not order anything anymore. This is a lack of respect for the customer, and I will definitely not order again from this place, just because of this. It shouldn't be the clients problem, that they can't update their prices on the website.

Service really poor... You feel like stuff is unhappy to serve their customers... it's not nice when you trying to have nice dinner...

Bad sevice. The staff took ages to take our orders. They were non attentive. After a mixed near first course they were reluctunct to change our cultery and plates. Lack of staff and lack of training. Bad staff due to bad management.

My husband and I eat here most weeks, it's great to pop in for a quick lunch.

As a family, we come here often and everytime it is outstanding. The service is always good, friendly and attentive. The food is always good, tasty, warm and exactly what you ordered. Great menu, great atmosphere and great service....everytime.

My husband and I were looking for something to different to the norm and came across this little gem via Trip Advisor! It’s recently been expanded and moved into larger premises on the corner of the high street and we were impressed with the curb appeal! Once seated upstairs the ambience was relaxed and authentic and the menu left us spoilt for choice! We had two plentiful courses, soft drinks and a side of chips and the bill was very reasonable! The quality of the food was exceptional and the atmosphere was warm and friendly! We will definitely be gong back soon with our family as we know they will love it as much as us!

Tried this restaurant sat down waitress came over and cleaned table. Ordered drinks found they don't have a coffee machine so had a black coffee very watery and weak ordered food after short while found out one of the starters was off the menu. When the food arrived it was not very tasty and very greasy also missing a side order which never turned up.

I cannot believe l am writing this negative review. As usual the food was superb but there were two problems.

I have been going to this great place in Chatham for over 6 years now and I love their fresh prepared salad eaten with shish kebab. I leave the place very pleased. The new place (next door) has a beautiful ambience, too. Love, love, love

This was a bit of an accidental find (our targeted venue was closed on Sundays) but we like a bit of meze and we weren't disappointed here. We had 4 dishes to share (aubergine, haloumi, felafel and a salad) served with bread and drinks for under £25. The felafel were crisp and came with a tasty hummus, the haloumi was grilled and perfect and the aubergine was 'to die for' (I need that recipe!). The salad and bread meant that we were well filled when we had cleared the platters. There was a gentle buzz with people eating or collecting take away and the staff seemed happy in their work chatting to each other and the customers as they got on. The boss was very friendly. They have move next door to the building shown in the current photo with a good corner site and also now have space upstairs for dining. Menu is extensive and does include meat dishes. Think we'll be visiting again.

Always loved visiting this place when it was mainly a takeaway with a few seats inside, but now they have opened a restaurant it’s a lovely place to relax. Staff all the same faces, always happy and efficient. Good outstanding as always with a few extras on the menu. Never fails!

Disappointed with the level of service, and food. Waited nearly an hour after ordering to get our food, and felt like the staff had completely forgotten us. Other tables that had come after us were getting their food before we were which was frustrating as we had waited so long. It was only when I asked where our food was because we had been waiting so long and the children were becoming restless that 5 mins later we got our food. Was told that they were making it fresh which is why it had taken so long. Wouldn’t have been so bad if the food was good. But very disappointed as when we finally got it, everything was cold, apart from the ribs which were warm. And the rice was dripping in oil. They must have been runnin out of food as our platter was definitely not for 4 people. A waste of £60. Should have gone to Pasha Meze instead around the corner.

Have used this place in the past for a takeaway, but decided recently to eat in and check out their new premises just next door. Have to say was very impressed. The restaurant was fresh, bright and clean and more importantly, busy.

Had a great evening with friends, everyone enjoyed it and we will deffinatly be returning. Empty plates all round.

This easily compares with the Mangals (Turkish charcoal grill houses) of Green lanes in London. Good food in abundance and incredibly tasty. It's former incarnation was Tulip which was hideously expensive but l believe they sold up and was taken over by the current owners who immediately transformed it into a nice pleasant experience which doesn't butcher the wallet.

Hadn’t been for a year or so, didn’t know they moved but wow. Same amazing food can’t encourage people enough to go there.

Whenever we visit my son at uni we always make a visit to this Turkish for dinner. Amazing food and service every time !!!

Shame some Chathamites don't like this place, please stay away and don't infect it with your peasantness. I note a recent message from Vicky whom is an expert on Turkish restaurants (not) and I beg to differ (Viki). This place is very good and I speak from having travelled extensively and more latterly to Turkey several times. What they serve is traditional food and not out of place in Turkey and simply put... I would avoid if you are not happy.

I brought a wrap and they had forgotten everything including the sauce, all they did was dump salad in it, and it took 20minutes to be done. What a disgrace! A waste of money! A waste of time!

This place is a little hidden gem in Chatham. Tucked in the pedestrian area it's quite small (but looked as though it might be expanding into next door?). We ordered the set meal for two. Delicious starters with earn Turkish bread, houmous, Tsatsiki, a rather lovely aubergine dish and one other we couldn't work out - all lovely. Our main course was a dish piled high with mixed grilled meats served on a bed of rice and bulgur. A delicious side salad accompanied it. The food was truly tasty and we solved it down but there was still more than we could eat. At £26 including a bottle of wine it was great came too! Superb!

After seeing lots of great reviews on here, we thought we would give it a try. Went there one lunch time. We both ordered starters, the main dish came out at the same time as the starter which was very annoying. The lamb seemed like it was a cheap cut, poor quality, and owner seemed to speak very rudely to the waitress. Overall not a good experience, we will not be back. There are much better turkish restaurants around by far.

Small cosy Turkish restaurant, typical Turkish food taste nice and very affordable with friendly stuff, will go back there if I visit the area

We went last night as a group of 13 and weren't disappointed. The food was fantastic, as good as anything I have eaten in Turkey. The staff were friendly. I will definitely be going back, again and again and would recommend Taze to everyone.

The best Turkish food I've tasted since my last trip to Turkey. We ordered a selection of dishes from the menu and all were tasty and authentic. I recommend finishing off with the delicious, home made baklava. Very casual and relaxed dining.

Every meal I've had at Taze has been excellent and the service has been equally as good. The food is the best Turkish food I've had in this country and equal to anything I've had in Turkey. The portions are big and I'm not sure I've ever cleared my plate.

This take out restaurant is in a bit of a strange part of town, but it is an oasis of delicious food. This was our first experience of Turkish food, glad we chose this place as it was very good and really good value for money. We had a set menu for 2 - cold meze starters and mixed kebabs with bread, rice and salad - it was all very good, our kids were tucking into everything! We also ordered a pide (pizza) which was also very good. Lots of food we couldn't eat it all, £30 for 4 & drinks included! Definitely recommend this place for a quick tasty meal!

Visit this restaurant last week with my family.Lamb soup was delicious and we did shared Taze special kebab. Good food and good service definitely worth trying.We will be back soon.

Have used taze for several years both for takeaways and have also eat in. Great food freshly cooked. The restaurant does not sell alcohol at the moment but you can take your own. I believe they are expanding soon so there will be a larger sitting area and also will sell alcohol. I hope it does not lose the cozy and friendly athmosphere

Just had a wonderful meal here, as people have already said the bread they serve if fabulous. The owner came over to us and was so pleased that we appreciated the food he prepared, explaining that everything is made by themselves. Don't be fooled by the outside, your stomach will never forgive you.

We went for a birthday meal on a Friday evening. Two of us were late, but as usual we received a lovely warm welcome. Food good. Service excellent, and a lovely evening.

You won't get fresher food than this.A small place,probably seats about twenty people at most,serving Turkish food.Kebabs,grilled meat and whole fish as well as Turkish pizzas (Lahmacun),oven dishes and salads.Food is cooked to order and is served attractively with some great accompanying bits like flatbreads and bulgar wheat.Portions are hearty and great value.Ok,it's a bit manic but that adds to it's appeal for me.Lovely service too,very efficient and friendly.

Absolutely delicious food and definitely it is worth for the prize. The reason I am giving 2 stars to the "restaurant" is poor customer service while eat-in. Waitresses working inside does not have a basic idea what customer service means. The restaurant is small, but comfortable and cosy though, during peak hours dining-in could be a bit painful. The most frustrating part of all is that some customers receive special treatment while all waiting in a queue for sitting places, they come and get seats straight away. It is a bit unfair, disrespectful and unprofessional. Just sharing my own experience.

Have read the reviews and thought we must try. We were not disappointed. We had the set menu and the food was delishous. I’m not really a ‘bread’ person but it was lovely with our starter and it was topped up twice. The mixed kebabs was really well cooked with excelllent cuts of meat, no chewy bits!

Went here for a birthday party, lovely Mediterranean food. Never knew it existed will come again.We had the whole restaurant to ourselves, it is has a lovely authentic feel and a nice atomsphere.

Excellent authentic Turkish dishes at a great price. Prompt and friendly service and although I’m often eating alone, and occupying a table for four, I’m always made to feel welcome and never feel rushed. Great atmosphere. If you’ve enjoyed eating out in Turkey, this is the closest you’ll get to that experience in Medway. Tellingly, it often has Turkish customers when I’m in there. Great portion size too.

We were here six months ago and decided to drop in for a quick lunch. Just had a bowl of lentil soup which was delicious. Thinner than the lentil soup I am used to but still very good.

I was as introduced to this place by a friend. And now I'm hooked.

I come here often - sometimes for a quick wrap at lunch time from work, or for a meal in the evening with my family, including children. We even had our works Xmas meal here last year. The food is always delicious, the staff are fab - friendly and really helpful and it's not expensive either! It's not posh - more of a café feel and they don't serve alcohol but this didn't actually bother us at all. Overall one of my favourite places to eat in Chatham.

Popped in for lunch with the family. Fantastic meze with fabulous flavours. Decent sized portions. Great value ( Meze for 2 and a pizza for the boy plus 5 soft drinks under £40)

my daughter had been telling me of a great place for lunch in Chatham high street for months , a good meze style eaterie, which cooked great shish kebabs and cooked their own bread from a clay oven, well I have finally found it tucked away at the end of the high street. lovely selection of cold mezes to start and mixed shish with salad rice and bulgar wheat and of course loads of fresh baked bread. honest prices too. place was busy with workman getting a quick lunch so it can be a bit hectic, but it gives a nice option when in Chatham during the day...

I had lunch here mid week with my brother who is a veggie.We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. My brother is a veggie so had the grilled halloumi and I had one of the stews with rice and couscous. Both were served with a delicious fresh salad and a very creamy and delicious tzatziki which we ended up fighting for it was so good!!Good value! We'll be back.

I recently visited this restaurant with my partner on a busy Saturday evening. The restaurant itself is pretty small however it a cosy feel to it. In addition they also provide a takeaway service which comes across as the main function. Due to it being a takeaway, there was a long wait for our food which we placed our order however the staff are very friendly and did apologise for the wait whilst explaining they has many orders. The food was very good and the portions were worthwhile. For the two of us, sharing a starter and a main was all we needed and we didn’t feel the need to eat for the rest of the night which is always a good sign. Overall apart from the waiting time I would definitely go back…just not on a Saturday evening. Popped in to order takeaway and met the friendly owners who ran through the menu. We ordered lamb rib kebab and chicken shish and waited while it was cooked and watched the kitchen, checked out other diners food and watched the world go by. Always a good sign when half the customers are Turkish and the food definitely didn't disappoint! The kebabs were served with amazing freshly baked bread from the wood fired oven, fresh salad, rice and bulgur wheat salad. As with any takeaway it's never the same as piping hot food eaten straight off the grill, and freshly cooked food you have to wait for. We'll try eating in next time and would definitely recommend calling ahead for takeaway orders but you gotta eat here!

We have had the lamb soup several times now at this place and it's absolutely delicious . You get ample fresh naan bread and a good selection of side condiments with the soup. Highly recommend the soup and excellent value for money at £4.

Myself and partner have been visiting this little place for a few years now and can honestly say we are never disappointed, especially when paca is on the menu... The staff are always welcoming and friendly as well.. Worth every little penny for the food

Looking for somewhere to lunch we stumbled across this place. Looks like nothing impressive outside but once in we were impressed. Attentive friendly waitress. Tasty food at a reasonable price. Relaxed atmosphere, though slightly busy as lunch hour arrived. So many different nations enjoying the food together. Was fab.

We booked a table for an evening meal. Arriving early and were promptly welcomed and seated by the owner.We ordered a hot mixed starter which was delicious, served with plenty of Turkish bread made on the premises using the same wood burning oven that is used to cook the pizzas.The main courses were plentiful, tasty and good value. We thoroughly enjoyed out meal, I should mention that the place was frequented by Turkish people which proves the food was good. I should mention that I think the word cafe defines the place better the restaurant. We look forward to our return visit.

I love this place! I've had a few takeaways and the food has always been amazing so have always wanted to visit the restaurant. I went at the end of March with my husband and young daughter and I was not disappointed. The food was even better than the takeaways as it's cooked fresh in front of you and put straight on your table. Service was brilliant, the staff were all lovely. It's down what people call the dodgy end of the high street, after visiting this restaurant I'd say I prefer this end! Everyone seems to know each other, people waving as they walk past etc.if you're looking for a flash, modern restaurant this probably isn't the place for you as this is more of a cafe like setting, but if you want amazing food with amazing service this is spot on. The flow of customers was constant which says it all. Will definitely be visiting again!
