Love Taz! Great restaurant, nice layout. Food is always lovely, well presented & cocktails, nice for lunch or special dinner

Went here for a meal last night, we had a mess platter for start which was amazing, my partner had the lamb chop/ rib combo and really enjoyed it, I had the lamb lokum kebab and was one of the nicest Turkish dishes I have had so far. We have been to a few different Turkish places and this is going to be a regular place for us now. We was served by Fuat who was really nice, had good laugh with him and made our meal enjoyable, Mete (the manager) was kind enough to give us a portion of calamari to try as we previously said the best we had was at another restaurant so he said try ours, didn’t disappoint. Thank you for a great meal and gave us an enjoyable date night

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. The food is really, really nice. Very affordable. The staff are so friendly and definitely make you feel welcome! The restaurant itself is lovely and very well decorated. Amazing atmosphere! I would highly recommend going to Taz.

A Disappointing Mother's Day at Tax Our large group chose Taz for our Mother's Day celebration, hoping for a memorable and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell significantly short of our expectations. While the food itself was acceptable, offering standard Turkish fare, it wasn't anything particularly special or noteworthy. The decor, however, was quite striking, leaning heavily into a black and gold theme that felt somewhat overwhelming and lacked subtlety. The real letdown of the afternoon was the abysmal drinks service. We endured an inexcusable 40-minute wait for our beverages, which frustratingly included even simple requests for jugs of water. Throughout this lengthy delay, our waiter repeatedly assured us that the drinks were on their way, attributing the hold-up to them being "busy." This poor service significantly impacted our dining experience. Typically, our group enjoys a leisurely meal with starters, mains, desserts, and coffee, accompanied by multiple rounds of drinks. However, due to the glacial pace of the drinks service, we only managed to have our main courses, a single drink each (for those who eventually received them), and a couple of coffees. To add insult to injury, no sooner had we finished our main courses than we were informed that we needed to vacate the table promptly, as they required it for other diners. This abruptness felt incredibly unwelcoming and left us feeling rushed and unappreciated, especially on a special occasion like Mother's Day. Overall, our experience was disappointing. While the food was passable, the excessive decor and, more importantly, the shockingly slow drinks service and the pressure to leave immediately overshadowed any positives. This is certainly not a venue we would consider returning to, particularly for a group celebration where a relaxed and attentive atmosphere is paramount.

First time visit to Taz with a friend for lunch. The food was amazing,the staff couldn't do enough for us...and the atmosphere was brilliant 👌 Throughly enjoyed it...I will definitely be going back to try all the delicious food on their menu.

This is our 6th visit to Taz and it never disappoints, food was amazing and the staff so friendly. It was my dad's 89th birthday and he had a lovely time.

The food here is 10/10! The waiting staff are fantastic - very friendly, attentive and fast. The restaurant is clean and well kept. Will definitely back soon!

Food was excellent, so good. The only thing to advise is check your bill, and the amount that’s put into the card machine as there was possibly, but maybe not, a £30 difference which I luckily noticed!

Went with friends for lunch at Taz Restaurant in Rettendon Common, Essex. The food, service, and atmosphere were 1st Class, highly recommend you make the trip, you won't be disappointed.

This place is the bees knees! I took my mum for dinner a few weeks back now but I’ve only just got the time to write a review. The tree in the centre of the restaurant is stunning. The mocktails are innovative and tasty. The food is 100% fresh and cooked to perfection. The Turkish coffee is beautiful along with the Tiramisu. Lastly, the service is top tier. Every member of staff was very pleasant and did their job perfectly. I speak a little bit of Turkish, and as I was leaving, a server said “Iyi Geceler, Emine Abla” which translates to “Goodnight, Sister Aminah” in English. I was really touched by this as this is a very warm way of addressing someone in Turkish. This place is very hospitable, safe, and kind. I will come here every time that I am in the area! Best Turkish food ive ever eaten All the meat was super soft and tender and the octopus was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be returning soon.

On the site of the old Wheatsheaf pub. This is a beautifully decorated restaurant. Very popular, especially at lunchtimes. The food is freshly cooked to order and is delicious. Mainly Turkish inspired dishes. Complimentary warm flatbreads and dips are given as appetisers. Service is exemplary. The staff are attentive without being intrusive. Owners greet regulars and newcomers in a very friendly manner. Complimentary drinks are always offered at the end of your meal when you ask for the bill. Bills do not include a service charge. We have visited several times now, and never been disappointed. We always come away happy.

Tasty food , very small portions, no rice served with main meals

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff who are very attentive. Great service. They ensured all customers are enjoying the food, they spaced it out and spoke to every table booked.

We were a party of 6 friends having been at least 6 times if not more before. Served by Murat who was excellent, attentive and not intrusive, noticing when we were talking and when ready to order so much so that we had a wonderful time catching up. And the staff also contributed to the relaxed atmosphere . The lunch menu was both the same excellent standard and quality as usual. As well as being affordable to come to just to catch up with friends but also great for special occasions too.

Third visit for us, second time we've tried the lunch menu. All three visits have been very good. The food is lovely, and the service is extremely welcoming and friendly. My only one minor nitpick is that some mains don't come with rice or similar, which other Turkish restaurants tend to offer. This doesn't detract from our recommendation. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

It was my first time dining at Taz Restaurant, went for a friends birthday. Made to feel very welcome and there was a lot of choice on the menu.Hospitality was of the finest. Food was delicious. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Can’t wait to return.

Without a doubt that's the best restaurant in and around Chelmsford. The staff is unbelievable. The venue is very comfortable. And the food..... Normally when you eat in a good restaurant, some of the food is very good, some is just ok, and some of the items are disappointing. In Taz, every single item we have ordered was 10 out of 10 (keep in mind that I'm very picky on the food). For me there is no other restaurant from now onwards and all notable events for me will be celebrated there!!!

Went to Taz for the first time for a Birthday lunch and it was absolutely perfect. Service was spot on, food was super tasty and the restaurant decorated so nicely. Also was surprised with a little birthday plate :) Will definitely be back.

Really friendly staff, really tasty food, it was my fiancé’s birthday and they put a candle into his dessert, which was kind of them. My only minor suggestion would be to add the mixed shish on the lunch menu, as you can pay the extra for the lamb, so would be better to have mixed shish on there also, last time they let me pay the £3 and have mixed shish, but this time they said no. Overall fantastic experience at Taz.

Came on a date here and i absolutely loved it, the atmosphere, the food, the place, the workers. Taz was very welcoming and so was the receptionist and the waiters (the guy from Tottenham is 10/10). I rarely give a 5/5, but this stood out to me and they truly deserve it 😉

My Top Choice in Essex Taz Restaurant is hands down the best spot for Turkish cuisine in Essex! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with such warmth and hospitality—it felt like visiting family. The owner and every single staff member are incredibly polite and attentive, which made the experience even more special. The food? Absolutely amazing! Every dish is packed with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. I couldn’t stop raving about it. This is a welcoming place I truly enjoy visiting with my family time and time again!

First time here and if I’m honest it’s not the sort of place that I’d normally visit as it’s a bit out of my comfort zone,but I was invited out this evening with a long term friend of mine for a meal and a catch up. Well what a pleasant experience it was the service was 10/10 from the moment we arrived until we left. The atmosphere was busy but not overpowering, now onto the food which was out of this world I opted for the garlic mushrooms and mixed grill and it was mouthwatering full of flavours and so moreish. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Very clean venue. You definitely get what you pay for. The food is top notch and i thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I had a burger and chips and I had was to die for. The chips are quite obviously done by hand...... The only negative thing I could say is that the draught lager selection could be bigger but it's not really somewhere you would go to get drunk - you go there to eat and enjoy not sit there and get on the lash. Would definitely visit again. Wife had a kebab. I tried a bit and it was rather tasty!

What a beautiful meal. We came here for my birthday dinner. The complimentary breads and dips are lush, bread is really warm with fresh chilli sauce and yogurt. We got the mixed hot starters, such good quality food. Prawns were delicious. I then got a mixed shish, I don’t know where they get their meat from or what they do to it prior to cooking but I’ve never had such soft, tender and flavorful meat, both the lamb and chicken were amazing. Service is great, lovely waiter. Drinks came in a few minutes if that. It is on the more expensive side but I’d definitely say it’s worth it. Lovely evening! Thank you

We have been visiting Taz for over a year on pretty much a weekly basis and have never had a bad meal or experience. The staff are lovely, the food is incredible and it’s always a great experience. We also have takeaways, collection usually 20-25 minutes and the food is always amazing!

We had a surprisingly delightful experience on our first visit to Taz. The steak and the lokum kebab were outstanding. The atmosphere perfectly complements the cuisine. The entire staff treats you with elegant hospitality. I highly recommend Taz for any occasion.

Our dinner at Taz was an unforgettable experience. The sharing plate was a brilliant way to start, with a variety of delicious dishes that catered to all tastes, including gluten-free options. The lamb and chicken mains were cooked to perfection, and the accompanying fondue added a unique touch. The staff were exceptionally friendly and made us feel right at home. I was in today with my family & my two year old, and I just wanted to say what a great experience we had. Everyone was so great with my daughter (being quite active) and also the food, atmosphere and the staff could not have been better or more attentive. Also, the complimentary drink at the end was a really nice touch especially for my nan who loves a Tia Maria! We wouldn’t be going anywhere else in Essex for a Turkish from now on!

Outstanding food and amazing staff

Talk has become our favourite place to eat. Great food and the service is amazing.

Table service was excellent. Food was very nice and toilets clean. Only negative is and is an important one. There wasn't anyone at the entrance to greet us and register our pre booking. First time there and initially was at a lost as to where to sit as it's a small bar at the entrance and was perplexed as to where we sit to eat. We had stood there for 7 mins like a pair of lemons, and then decided to wander and notice the restaurant tucked at the back and it was very bustling with table staff but we had to interject during their hectic moment to ask if we sit there and we have a booking. Never had to do that before at any eatery establishment.

Came in for lunch, the manager and team are so nice. Very attentive. They seem to come to your table at the right times between each course. The lunch deal has a lot of choices. The food is very fresh and well presented. The place is decorated very nicely. The lighting creates the perfect ambience. Thank you very much. I will definitely be returning.

I've been to most Turkish restaurants in Essex and have to say this one is a cut above the rest! Food is on point great menu! Drinks are lovely and refined again great drinks menu! All the staff here go above and beyond to look after you, my girls of 2 and 3 can be a handful at times to say the least 🤣 they loved the guys here and had them wrapped around there little finger bless them, the played with staff and they adored our girls, I can't speak highly enough about everybody at Taz, thank you so much from our girls my Mrs and I ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had lunch with my auntie, her 97 year old mother in-law my wife, and my son. we all had something different but loved every mouth full. I had lamb, which just melted in my mouth. I have never experienced lamb like that before.

We came to TAZ on family recommendation and what a lovely experience this was. A very friendly welcome and prompt service as soon as we were seated. Although we ate from the lunch menu at a very reasonable price, the portions and presentation of every dish was excellent and tasted as good as they looked. Service and attention from the staff was just right. A great place to eat and spend a leisurely hour or three as you like. Thanks to all at TAZ. 👍😊

My daughters baby shower the staff were all so lovely.. very attentive and welcoming. They gave us a table for the presents and balloons .a very personal experience so thank you . The food was gorgeous and a huge selection to choose from. Definitely be going again.

This is a very nice place with friendly helpful staff. If I was to find fault it would be that it is a bit pricey and the inside is a bit dark on a beautiful sunny afternoon.

The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Plenty options to choose from on the menu and the decor is lovely! My personal favourites are the starters: garlic mushrooms, shrimp and sucuk. The main I got was the adana which was tasty too!

Unbelievably good in every aspect of The dining out experience .. The celebration was my best friends 60th Birthday and Taz takes dining out to a different level for sure. After our warm welcome on arrival we were invited to have drinks or cocktails in the beautiful garden whilst waiting for our table .. The choice of delicious cocktails was plentiful .. I recommend ‘The Taz Special Cocktail’ which was beyond special! After the garden experience, we were seated at a table for 8 in this beautiful restaurant and chose an array of starters which everyone at the table raved about and by the time our main courses arrived we were already dazzled by the ‘Taz Experience’. The main courses were unbelievably good too .. the drinks kept coming and the service was absolutely impeccable from the super warm, friendly, attentive staff .. To top it off Taz himself came to our table to check we were enjoying the food, service and the atmosphere, and upon my praise and comments of the fabulous Taz Special cocktail, he sent me one over ‘on the house’ ! what an absolute gentleman .. who clearly knows everything about first class food, service and atmosphere! Taz we had the best night in your restaurant .. Thankyou to you, your fabulous staff and your brilliant Chef’s .. This was my second visit to Taz and it is most definitely the best restaurant I have ever been to by far xx if I could give a 10 star plus review I would … Highly Recommend.. I had a meal at Taz’s for my son’s 18th we had a very large group of 30 people. The staff were absolutely amazing and the food was beautiful. Everyone had a great time and we will definitely be coming back again. Thank you to all the staff!

Excellent service and tasty food, the perfect combination. We like sharing different vegetarian starters using the flatbread for dipping. Also there's a reasonable choice on the lunch menu.

Fantastic experience recently at Taz, for a group meal. On arrival, we were promptly greeted and as part of our party was already there, we were shown outside and offered drinks which were served quickly. Our table was presented on time and our waiter was attentive throughout the meal. Our food was delicious, presented well, and no one within the group had a bad word to say about any of their 3 courses. I personally had the lamb chops and ribs for the main, they were tasty and succulent. Post meal, we enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine, enjoying drinks in the lovely gardens. Again, service was never an issue even though we weren't in the main area. All of the staff here were wonderfully attentive, engaging and enjoyed talking and mixing with us when invited too. A credit to the area, well worth a visit.

We were very happy with everything & would come again. Food was really nice, service was excellent & the atmosphere was very cosy & we received the warmth you would expect to receive from a top of the range dinning restaurant in Mediterranean/ Turkish culture. Happy to have found this spot!
