Taylors Fish in Mid Sussex

Over priced under sized and uncooked raw chips for 4.25 for a large and was smaller then a medium ripoff ,new owners have ruined this place

Possibly best chips I have ever had. Fish very good too. Only complaint is that if go after 8pm, menu can be restricted. Otherwise absolutely excellent.

Terrible since the new owners took over. Food is plain and tough. Overcooked and dry. It now costs loads more. Used to be great and is now rubbish. Avoid and don't go to one of the two Harbours because they're the same owner and cook food in the same way!

This was our first visit since new owners took over........ Fabulous fish and chips. Fresh and very well prepared. Really great homemade Tatare Sauce. Friendly service. Welcome to Taylors!!!!!

What a pleasant surprise. I was running late and couldn't get to my favourite Harbour fish and chip shop at the end of town. I popped into Taylors and found to my surprise that the Harbour boys have taken over. I never have to worry about running late anymore, the best fish and chips are right in the centre of town. George a Harbour for twenty years.

used to be the best by far in East Grinstead but now absolutely awful.Obviously been taken over by someone else.Won't be going back,ever.

Absolutely delicious fish and chips from Taylor’s tonight. Freshly cooked cod and chips for me and my step daughter - melt in the mouth batter, delicious fish, and the best tasting chips I’ve had for a very long time. Thank you Taylor’s team for cooking my fish fresh - we loved it.

Without any doubt, Taylors is the best chippy in the area. I actually live out of town near one of the 'posher' chippies that lots of people rave about .... I don't know what's wrong with them, the other one may be a bit fancier but their chips are terrible ... Taylors is a no frills chippy, same family been running it for decades and they themselves work in there (not run by kids that dont know or care what they are serving). THE. BEST. CHIPS. HANDS. DOWN. I drive out of my way, past other chippies to get to Taylors ... my Kids only ever want Taylors as well!

Was not that good on the last visit 3/4 weeks ago but knowing we can all have a bad day !! Tried again on Wednesday but no improvement I’m afraid. Very oily & chips had been warming for quite some while. Shame but they need to up their game by quite a bit. The fish was cooked better than previously in all fairness but if your a fish & chip bar it does need to be fresh chips. Chips got a zero And bad management to serve that to the public suffer a bad review. But how else can we the public keep standards high. Decided I will revisit in the next 3 weeks and Rewrite with full credit if it deserves it. We should never damage with a bad review but encourage standards to be at an expected level

Fish and Chip were very tasty and seemed fresh however we were both quite ill afterwards. This maybe due to the oil used as we looked on internet and certain oils affect certain people

Visited this fish and chip shop last Friday in the evening on our way to a theatre performance. I was hungry so suggested a takeaway rather than visit one of the lovely looking pubs. My son treated the four of us to fish and chips and I can honestly say they are the best I have ever tasted. The chips were great and the fish was excellent and beautifully cooked. The batter was gorgeous. The shop looked so nice and welcoming and the staff were friendly. The price was very reasonable especially with an oap offer for me. Such a shame they are not in the Brighton area. I'd be there every day!

We love a good old fish and chips, always cooked well and the curry sauce is a favourite. The chap who runs it is always lovely and chatty, remembers who you are and continues conversation from whenever it was last you were in. Firm favourite in our household

The great Bristiah Fish and Chips ought to be prepared to a well-known high standard, but often it is let down. The Haddock was tasty, but the batter was pale and forbidding - though it was the soggy under-cooked greasy chips that really earned the "Terrible" ticket. Sorry Talylors - there are LOADS of fast food outlets all around you. Wish I'd chosen one of them.

Lovely staff especially the lady although sometimes she works out of sight as I always ask the man to give her my regards ...as I am an oap and go in Regularly I was given a Loyalty card a few years ago and get 10% off which is very helpful..always get lovely hot delicious fish and chip. Highly recommend....

We had fish and chips from Taylors on the night we moved to East Grinstead and have found no reason to go elsewhere over 10 years later! The staff are always friendly and for just under £15, two people will get enough food to leave them feeling as though they don't want to eat again for sometime!! The cod is always generous, flaky and well cooked, with a plentiful coating of the tastiest, thick and crispy batter (but not so hard as to break a tooth!!) and a portion of their fluffy chips (not too crispy - but never limp with oil) is always a pleasingly enormous mountain, that bearly fits on a plate! Best enjoyed with a copious amount of ketchup - yum!

We visited Taylors Fish for a takeaway meal. The portions were of a good size. There is a special price for OAP's on Fish and Chips. The large portion of chips was aptly named and the chips were no too soggy. The chicken I had was slightly crispy but it was still a good meal.

Possibly the best fish n chips in EG. Always good portions. Great service and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Usual speedy service , good portions and quality. Large cod is large and chips are tasty and again decent amount. No frills but good value

Not a patch on before, what's happened both had fish and both not well afterwards , very odd but won't return

Dont normally review the local chippy but after last night im going to....used to love this place but i wont be using it again the chips were bloody awful..not cooked soggy and just yukky.

This fish bar has been great for years and has sit in and eat facility. Usually busy lunch times and quite small so getting a seat can be difficult.

We always get good fast service, excellent value and good fresh fish and chips. We are never disappointed with our food here. The staff are really friendly and efficient.

The 'Fish & Chips' cooked at this establishment are second to none. We often have this meal on a Saturday evening which sets us up for the night. Have tried other shops but yet to find equal or better.

To be fair to this take away this is our second visit. The first was very good but today fell well short of their previous standards. The fish was not cooked fresh and was just out of the top holding area. It may have been there a while. I have always had fish cooked fresh at every fish shop I have visited even when they are busy. (This shop wasn’t busy, Thursday at 5pm with two customers before us). The batter was very oily not particularly crispy and the cod was slimy, not flaky as before. The chips were a decent sized portion but were limp and soggy. Sorry to say it but I doubt we will return. I hope this feedback is useful.

Lovely roe and chips and battered sausages. Large chip portion seems to have shrunk a bit but still taste lovely

We'd tried the Harbour Fish Bar in East Grinstead, and I was not exactly blown over by the quality of the food compared to the price, so we decided to get a fish & chip takeaway from Taylors. Its the best fish and chips I've had for a long time and a decent price (about £6 for a large cod & chips). Milky and flaky cod, covered in a very delicate batter - looks like they must change the oil regularly. The chips are also excellent, and even a small portion is large!Its now my Friday night fish & chip shop, happy days.

A small little takeaway chippie on railway approach. I've been here many times before and I've always been very pleased by the quality of the fish and chips. Service is quick and the food is cooked to order. Good portion sizes and so much better fish friday at the ounce and ivy!

Taylor's Fish Bar is our favourite place for fish and chips in the town. Parking outside is easy, and service is fast. The fish has lovely crisp batter, and the portions of chips are enormous! The chips are lovely and crispy on the outside and soft and floury on the inside, and never too soggy. The battered onion rings are lovely and really worth trying, though again the portion size is huge.
